Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, Adeniji Adele, Lagos, have arrested an upcoming Nollywood actor and gospel musician (names withheld) and two others in connection with the alleged kidnap of a female banker at Mile 2 area of Lagos.
The actor and his alleged partners were said to have kept their victim in an uncompleted building in Mowe, Ogun State for four days, awaiting response from the captives' family. They were reportedly caught while sharing the ransom.
It was gathered that the Commissioner of Police in charge of the squad, Mr. Chris Ezike, acting on a tip-off, deployed teams of policemen to the hide-out, where the suspected kidnapers were rounded up and their victim rescued.
Police sources said the Enugu State-born 28-year-old actor claimed he was introduced into the act by leader of the gang, whose identity he gave as Jack. He said Jack masterminded the kidnap of the female banker, who was his former boss.
He has starred in five home videos: The Eves, Friday Night, Witches Club, Palace Club and Mountain High. He has also released two music albums in 2008 and 2014.Police sources said:
"The suspects were six in number. But three are on the run and we are on their trail.
"During interrogation, the actor said six of them came in a Toyota Corolla car and immediately they saw their target coming out of her Toyota Camry car, they pointed guns at her and drove her to their hideout in Mowe."
He allegedly confessed that himself and Jack drove the victim's car to Akerele area of Surulere, where they sold it for N250,000. He said he got N100,000, while Jack took the rest. They also sold their victim's jewellery for N8,000 and her pair of shoes for N3,700.
"He also stated that his share of the ransom was N450,000, but did not disclose how much they got, as the bargain was done between Jack and the victim's family."
One of the suspects reportedly told FSARS operatives that he came from Edo State on invitation by a friend. He said:
"A friend invited me to Lagos. All he told me was to watch over the woman and ensure she did not escape from where she was kept. I never knew she was kidnapped. I was tempted by the N350,000 offer."
On his part, the friend, aged 23, said his role was to provide his master's Toyota Corolla, which was used for the operation, adding that his share of the ransom was N400,000.
The suspects, as gathered, have been charged to court for kidnap and robbery.

Obanikoro Wants To Beat Tinubu AGAIN!
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
As the race to occupy elective positions in 2015 thickens, one place to watch in the political theatre of Lagos State is Eti-Osa LCDA, the official residence of All Progressives Congress bigwig, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the self acclaimed 'Lion of Bourdillon'.
The Antagonist in this epic dramatic centre of politics would be no other person than the young and cerebral Babajide Obanikoro, son of the former Minster of State for Defence and Peoples Democratic Party most likely Governorship flagbearer in Lagos State for 2015, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
In a political power play many keen observers have termed classic, young Obanikoro emerged PDP House of Assembly flagbearer for Eti-Osa Constituency 2, which places his desire to be a lawmaker directly in the domain of the 'Lion of Bourdillon'.
It would be recalled that Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro who one can refer to as a greenhorn and spineless one at that had floored fierce looking Tinubu in 2011, when he contested as Chairman of Eti-Osa LCDA, beating almighty Asiwaju in his polling booth.
The theatric manipulation by the then Action Congress of Nigeria, turned the victory tide against Obanikoro that even a post election court victory did change much as the Lion would not allow a meek Zebra rule over him.
If APC successfully manipulated its way then, the level of voters' enlightenment might make it difficult this time, once beaten twice shy so the saying goes. And considering the direct involvement of Senior Obanikoro, the game might just be more than set to put 'bitter leaf in Tinubu's eyes'.
A resident of Dolphin estate, Tope Akinola, told BlackBox Nigeria that the election would really be interesting as most youths are determined to ensure Ibrahim Obanikoro not only wins, but enjoy his mandate.
"Here, it is Obanikoro all the way. We are wiser now, we would vote and defend our votes. IBO is our man for LAHA 2015, no manipulation would take that away," he said.

Goodluck Jonathan Must Go -Senators List 14 Impeachable Offences Against President

The lawmakers are expected to harmonise their allegations with members of the House of Representatives before sending an impeachment request to Senate President David Mark.
The lawmakers are expected to harmonise their allegations with members of the House of Representatives before sending an impeachment request to Senate President David Mark.
The pro-impeachment Senators and Representatives may meet before the end of the week to agree on when to present the request to Mark, in line with Section 143 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution.
Top on the list of the allegations is the President's refusal to sign 120 bills into law.
The Nation stumbled on a copy of the allegations and signatures.
The President is expected to explain why he could not curtail the Boko Haram insurgency; and non-release of the abducted 219 Chibok girls.
Other issues are undue politicising of the security situation; failure to act as de facto President; $10.8billion missing from the Federation Account; squandering of N10billion private jets; and sloppiness/ failure in governance.
Some of the allegations also include alleged violation of the constitution/ Oath of Office; failure to implement recommendations of panels/ committees; setting up of ill-conceived, "nebulous" groups like TAN for re-election campaign outside the Electoral Act; failure to establish and inaugurate the Nigeria Police Council; illegal deployment of Armed Forces and sowing seed of hatred and turning one part of the country against the other."
Though the list of signatories was obtained by our correspondent, the senators pleaded against its publication until what they described as "auspicious time".
Although 63 senators were reported to have backed the impeachment move, the document shows that 16 signed.
A principal officer in the Senate, who pleaded not to be named because of the "sensitivity" of the matter, said: "We are embarking on signatures drive as I am talking to you. Senators are vetting the allegations before appending signatures.
"We have secured the consent of more than 63 senators who are expected to sign up in the next few days. And the senators are from both the PDP and the APC."
The "weighty" allegations have forced some PDP senators to regroup against pro-impeachment ones.
The allegations read in part:
"The President as the Head of government has worked to undermine the effective performance of other arms of government, especially the legislature, by constantly frustrating peaceful and harmonious co-existence among other arms of government. In performing their constitutional responsibility of lawmaking, the legislature passes bills to be assented to by the President before they become laws of the federation.
"The President has consistently and consciously failed to sign bills and motions passed on to him by the parliament, thereby making the position of the legislative arm of government untenable. At the last count, the President has refused to assent to about 120 bills passed by the current National Assembly. He has not sent any communication as to their rejection as stipulated in Section 58 (1) (4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Motions and other legislative instruments have suffered similar, if not worse, fate.

The senators have also decided to hold the President liable for allegedly not doing enough to address the Boko Haram insurgency and communal conflicts.
The Notice of Impeachment states:
"The President, as Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces and Chief Security Officer of the nation, has failed to ensure the protection of lives and properties. Mindless carnage by the Boko Haram insurgents, especially in the Northeast, recurrent violence in states like Taraba, Adamawa, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa etc are manifest examples of how the President has failed to exert the enormous powers inherent in his office.
"This total failure of leadership has not only served to threaten the corporate existence of the country, it has taken an untoward toll on the development and progress of the nation.
"The President has in an unprecedented manner reduced the Office of the President to an object of ridicule both locally and in the eyes of the international community, thereby reducing both the country and our hitherto respected Armed Forces into laughing stock.
"As we speak, over 200 of our female children have been abducted for over five months while some parts of our territorial space had been overtaken by the unrelenting insurgents. Yet, the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces has displayed acute sense of cluelessness on how to tackle the security challenges.
"The general impression out there is that the President is thoroughly overwhelmed and, therefore, incapable of inspiring our gallant men and women of the Armed Forces who are daily killed and maimed owing largely to the incompetence of their Commander-In-Chief.
"Just recently, a large number of our troops ran to safety in neighbouring Cameroon in the face of massive onslaught from the insurgents. The fact that our renowned military had to find succour with our little brother next door is the greatest indictment yet on the capability of the Commander-In-Chief to rally his men and boost their morale.
"For unduly politicising the security situation, the President has shown beyond all measure of doubt that he has neither the courage nor the sense of judgement to tackle the issue headlong. Evidence abounds to show that the President and his handlers by living in denial as to the abduction of Chibok girls, gave the insurgents more than three weeks head start.

They accused Jonathan of abdicating his responsibility through the concession of waterways security and protection of oil installations to a private firm.
"The President, in his capacity as Head of State has woefully abdicated state responsibilities and severely undermined the capacity of our security agencies by passing a "vote of no confidence" on the Nigeria Police and Armed Forces to protect our strategic and vital infrastructures, like the pipelines.
"A case of this failure was the award of non-appropriated Oil Facility Protection Contract worth N3.6b to a private firm (Oil Facilities Surveillance Limited) controlled by ex militants," the document claimed.
The senators also alleged that the President had failed to address corruption.
The senators added: "The President as the Head of State is under obligation to abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power as envisaged by Section 15 (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Since his assumption of office, corruption in Nigeria has assumed frightening proportion. For the first time in our history, corruption is almost elevated to a state craft where known corrupt Nigerians are either friends or employees of the government headed by the President.
" From Stella Oduah (Minister of Aviation) to AbdulRasheed Maina of the pension scam, to how the Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has refused to account for $10.8billion missing from the Federation Account or how she allegedly squandered N10billion to fly private jets in two years or even how the NNPC under her watch managed to pay subsidy monies to kerosene marketers for three years without appropriation, thereby contravening Section 80 (1)-(4) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), it has been a season of unbridled corruption.
"All of the names mentioned above are close friends and supporters of the government and have been seen hobnobbing with the President in public even when facing charges of abuse of office and corruption."
They also accused Jonathan of allegedly sowing the seed of hatred and turning one part of the country against the other.
The document said: "As the de facto President, instead of working to unite the country by advocating true nationalism and patriotism, the President has sought to take advantage of our religious and ethnic differences through divisive and sectarian policies and politics. By continually, through his innuendos and body language, suggesting that a particular section or group of people of a particular faith or ethnicity is an enemy of the country, the President has consciously sowed the seed of hatred and turned one part of the country against the other.
"For threatening the fragile peace and unity of the nation by his unprecedented clannishness and cronyism, the President has acted in ways unbecoming of a President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"Failing to foster a sense of belonging and involvement among the various people of the federation, to the end that loyalty to the nation shall override sectional loyalties, the President has violated Sections 15 (2), (3) (a) and (b) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
"For failing to establish and inaugurate the Nigeria Police Council as envisaged by the Constitution, the President swore on oath to uphold and defend, he has breached/violated the extant provisions of Section 153 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Section 217 (2) (c) of the Constitution said, 'the Federation shall, subject to an Act of the National Assembly made in that behalf, equip and maintain the armed forces as may be considered adequate and effective for the purpose of – suppressing insurrection and acting in aid of civil authorities to restore order when called upon to do so by the President, but subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by an Act of the National Assembly. Therefore the powers vested on the President by virtue of the combined effects of Sections 217 (2) (c) and 218 (1) to determine the operational use of the Armed Forces of the Federation, are not absolute and in fact subject to the supervising authority of the National Assembly as expressly stipulated by the Constitution. Section 218 (4) clearly states that, 'the National Assembly shall have power to make laws for the regulations of – (a) the powers exercisable by the President as Commander –in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation; and (b) the appointment, promotion and disciplinary control of members of the armed forces of the Federation.'
A senator, who is a die-hard loyalist of the President, said: "There is nothing like the impeachment process against President Goodluck Jonathan. Some senators are just playing to the gallery.
"Even if they attempt to serve a notice of impeachment, they cannot get the required one-third of members of the National Assembly to push it through. Those of us in PDP will never allow the tyranny of the minority to take place in the National Assembly."

Crisis hits Chevron As Workers Threatens Shut Down
There was pandemonium, weekend, at the Chevron Escravos Terminal in Delta State, as the Escravos branch of the Seamen and Water Transport Workers Union, one of the wings of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, clashed with the management of Chevron Nigeria Ltd, during which the union gave a 21 day ultimatum to the company to fix an employment impasse involving it and the company or face a forceful shut down of its operations in the area.
The union had through an earlier letter, said that the ultimatum was caused by what it described as "Chevron's breach of the law through its resort to deal with a community group known as 'Itsekiri Coastal Dwellers Association,' as a modality to employ maritime workers," which the union said, runs contrary to what the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria stipulates.
The position of Escravos Maritime Workers Union on employment of maritime staff/seafarers in which the Joint Task Force, JTF Commandant, Warri, the Commanding Officer, JTF Escravos, the Department of State Security, Police Area Commander Warri, the Nigeria Navy and the Director of NIMASA, were copied, insisted that it was the exclusive preserve of its mother union, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, to recommend its members for employment in Chevron or any other oil company operating vessels in the country.
The union, said "By passing our union's stipulation is a slap on our face and the Federal Government of Nigeria, which established the enabling Act which gives the union its legal teeth. We are therefore, calling on Chevron Nigeria Ltd to retrace its step of compelling the union to work under the group. The group must be made to work under the union as a condition, henceforth, for peace to reign in the area.
"We are giving Chevron a 21 day ultimatum to rectify the anomaly or we shall be forced to stop and shut down the operations of Chevron's Escravos Terminal, just as we have been given the right to do so under the relevant law," the letter added.

Algeria and Porto forward, Yacine Brahimi, has emerged as the 2014 BBC African Footballer of the Year award winner, beating Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama to second place.
Brahimi shrugged off competition from likes of Ivorian star and former holder Yaya Toure, Gervinho Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Enyeama to become the first ever Algerian player to be so honoured in the continent.
Many had thought that Enyeama who has been a phenomenal figure in-between the sticks for the Super Eagles and was key to Nigeria making it to the round of 16 of the last world cup staged in Brazil will nick the top prize.
If he had won, Enyeama would have been the second Nigeria after Jay jay Okocha to win the BBC award.
Many will now hope to see Enyeama scoop the ultimate which is the CAF African footballer of the year award which he is amongst the final five shortlist for the award.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, threatened to order the arrest of former Ogun State governor, Mr Gbenga Daniel, if he fails to appear before the court on December 19.
Trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, said he would also compel former House of Representatives Speaker, Mr Dimeji Bankole, to attend court should he be absent that day.
Both are among alleged contemnors in a contempt proceedings initiated by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, executive committee members in Ogun State, led by Chief Adebayo Dayo.
Other alleged contemnors in the proceedings are the PDP, Dave Salako and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The Ogun State executives initiated the contempt proceedings against them for allegedly disobeying orders of the court.
The plaintiffs alleged that the respondents had been attempting to remove them from office despite two Federal High Court judgments affirming the legality of their positions.
Justice Abang also, yesterday, warned that he would not tolerate any disobedience of his orders by anybody.
He said: "I have jurisdiction to enforce the judgment of this court. It's up to them to be here on the next adjourned date. If they're not here on December 15, I will compel their attendance. I so hold."
Abang said it was wrong for anyone to disobey a court order to give the impression that the court is powerless.
"The court should bark, bite, and where the situation demands, break the bones," the judge said.
The judge said he would also not consider any application filed by the alleged contemnors if they do not appear in court personally.
He said: "The alleged contemnors are not in court, but they ought to be in court. It is mandatory that they have to be here. They cannot be in the comfort of their homes. They must be in court before any application filed by them can be taken."

FOUR days after seven persons were reportedly killed during an attack by a group of gunmen in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, the death toll had risen to 15.
At least 12 suspected members of a cult group had stormed Omoku Town in the area and opened fire on innocent indigenes of the area on Friday night.
Among those who died on the spot during the raid was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in the area, Chief Godspower Ayodu.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, who had earlier confirmed the incident, said seven persons lost their lives in a cult clash within the area.
It was, however, learnt that some of the victims of the attack that were rushed to the hospital later died while others were still lying critically ill.
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency, Mr. Gift Wokocha, maintained that over 15 persons from the area had lost their lives as a result of the incident.
Wokocha, who expressed sadness over the killings in the area, appealed to the people to embrace peace and desist from any act that could cause the destruction of lives and properties.
"There is no need for rancour and acrimony in Omoku. Omoku is an oil producing community and the people have to be protected. The level of killings and kidnappings here is not acceptable," he said.

Court Okays PDP's Quest To Remove Tambuwal

A Federal High Court in Abuja has given permission to the People's Democratic Party to apply for a mandatory order compelling either the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to declare vacant the Kebbe/Tambuwal seat being held by Aminu Tambuwal following his defection to the All Progressive Congress.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in an ex-parte ruling on Monday granted the PDP "leave to apply, by way of judicial review, for an order of mandamus compelling the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to give effect to the provisions of Section 68(1)(g) of the Constitution by declaring the Kebbe/Tambuwal federal Constituency seat vacant."
The ruling was on one of two ex-parte motions filed by the PDP pursuant to order 34 Rule 3 of the Federal High Court (Civil procedure) Rules 2009. By the leave granted it, the PDP is now required to file a formal suit to achieve its aim.
Named as respondents in the motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/901/2014 are – Tambuwal and Emeka Ihedioha, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
On Monday, PDP's lawyer, Mike Ahamba (SAN), while moving the motion for leave to apply for an order of mandamus, said by its action, his client only wants whoever occupies the seat of the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps to perform his/her responsibility under the Constitution.
"Section 68(2) renders section 68(1) (g) non-self-operating. Where a person defects from his party, the person can defiantly stay in the House and maintain his seat until either the Speaker or the Senate President performs his responsibilities under Section 68(2).
"We are asking the Speaker to declare the seat of Kebbe/Tambuwal Constituency vacant following the defection of the 2nd respondent (Tambuwal)," Ahamba said.
He said the PDP will also apply for "an order of injunction restraining the 2nd defendant (Tambuwal) from performing or continuing to perform the functions of the 1st respondent in the House of Representatives, or sitting or continuing to sit in the House as a member consequent upon the order of mandamus."
