Arsenal Win Over Everton Places Wenger's Team In Top Three
Arsenal moved back up to third in the Premier League as goals from Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky saw off Everton 2-0 at the Emirates
Stadium.
After a disastrous performance against Monaco, the French striker got back on the horse by finishing off a low cross at a corner near the end of the first half.
Though Everton looked somewhat tired after their midweek Europa League exploits, David Ospina had to be in good form to fend off some good chances in the second half.
But Arsenal's holding-out paid off when Rosicky scored via a slight deflection from Phil Jagielka shortly before the end of normal time.
Roberto Martinez's side remain only six points above the drop zone, while Arsenal are one point ahead of fourth-placed Manchester United and still three clear of Liverpool following their win against Manchester City
earlier in the Day.

Diego Costa, Terry Goals Wins Mourinho's Third Chelsea Capital One Trophy
John Terry gave Jose Mourinho's men the lead just before half-time when Spurs' poor defence of a free kick gave him the time and space to fire home via a deflection.
And the Blues cushioned that advantage soon after half-time when Diego Costa's finish was diverted in by Kyle Walker for an own goal.
Tottenham struggled to create genuine chances to get back into the game and the final drifted towards its conclusion as the Premier League leaders secured their first trophy of the season.
Mourinho made five changes from Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Burnley and saw his side make the brighter start as Terry headed over Willian's cross before Branislav Ivanovic's looping cross threatened Spurs' goal.
Hugo Lloris - making his first League Cup appearance of the season - dealt with the danger before Christian Eriksen rattled the woodwork with a 25-yard free kick. The Dane's opportunity came about after a foul on Harry Kane and the Spurs striker was next to go close with a low strike that tested Petr Cech.
Willian's raking pass set Eden Hazard away down the left, although his strike was blocked by Eric Dier, before Costa was involved in two flashpoints prior to the half-hour mark, having raised his hands towards Nabil Bentaleb.
A knock to Walker set the tone for a poor finish to the half for Spurs that was compounded when Terry made the most of lax defending on the stroke of half-time. When Chadli was caught out by a looping ball and fouled Ivanovic, a host of Spurs defenders failed to clear Willian's delivery, allowing skipper Terry to open the scoring from close range courtesy of a deflection off Kane.
Cesc Fabregas's overhead kick forced Lloris into a smart save shortly after the interval and Chelsea's positive start to the second half was rewarded when Costa looked to have scored his first goal since mid-January. A purposeful burst down the left was helped past Lloris by a Walker deflection - which was the crucial touch - 56 minutes in, with Pochettino opting to introduce Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela to try and gain a foothold in the contest.
However, Chelsea demonstrated their defensive solidity to see out the victory with minimal fuss and collect the first of three potential trophies this season, while Spurs must focus on securing European qualification.

Hypnotised Maid Steals N5M Jewellery From Madam
The suspect, Mercy Odita works for one Mrs Ngozi Okeke, who lives on Road 8, Abraham Adesanya Estate in Ajah.
Mercy claimed that she gave the stolen items to one Peter and an elderly man yet to be identified, adding that she was forced to steal the jewelries.
According to reports, the house-help met two strangers at the market the previous day who advised her to break into her employer's apartment and do away with the said items.
On the day the incident occurred, Mrs Okeke was away to visit her sick mother.
The accused who had earlier stolen the key to her employer's bedroom broke in and stole the accessories belonging to Okeke.
The stolen items include; necklaces, wristwatches and rings which she delivered to the said men at an agreed location. Also she gave them the sum of N2,000 given to her by Okeke to buy some items.
Odita then reported herself to the Maroko Police Station after delivering the stolen items to the men who are yet to be found.
Mrs. A. T. Omoyele of the Lagos Magistrate in Lagos Island charged the accused as follows; "That you Mercy Odita, and others now at large, on February 10, 2015, at about 9am on Road 8, Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah, did steal gold jewellery valued at N5,523,000, property of one Ngozi Okeke and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 285 (7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011."

Woman Sets Husband Ablaze in Ekiti For Not Taking Her Out On Valentine's Day
Olusegun, who is a commercial driver, was said to have left his house on valentine's day without his wife to have fun. When he returned home at about 6pm, he met his angry wife who had been accusing him of infidelity.
Neighbours said they first overheard the couple quarreling, before the husband ran out of the house with fire all over him.
One of the neighbours told reporters that, "It was mid-night that the husband suddenly ran out from his apartment and cried for help, raising the alarm that his wife had set him ablaze. He was burning and was battling with the fire his wife had put on him.
"We had to rush out to rescue him by quickly getting water and pouring it on him. But for the prompt intervention of some of us, he would have been burnt to ashes. He was thereafter rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital where he is still being treated. We also reported the incident at Ado Central Divisional Police Station from where policemen promptly came to arrest his wife."
The Ekiti State Police PRO, Mr. Albert Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said Olusegun's wife had confessed to the crime. He however did not allow reporters speak with the suspect who is in their custody.
"According to the Divisional Crime Officer, Ado Central Divisional Police station, the woman set her husband ablaze because he didn't celebrate the Valentine with her nor take her out for fun during the lovers' day celebration."
Adeyemi added that as soon as the investigations were complete, the case would be charged to court.
But Why! FIFA Cancels Eagles London Friendlies Against Ghana
According to the FIFA regulations, no country should play two games across two continents in three days.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had announced the Super Eagles would play Bolivia on March 26 in Uyo (Africa) and then take on the Black Stars on March 29 in London (Europe).
This means the Ghana Football Association can now consider proposals from teams including Australia.
It has the option to play all two matches during the FIFA free window next month either in Europe or Asia.
Ghana finished second at the just ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea after losing 9-8 on penalties to Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles were seeking to use the game against their sworn rivals to kick-start their preparations for the 2017 African qualifiers.
Woman Seeks For Divorce One Week After Marriage Because Husband's Manh••d Is Too Big
When the case came up, Aisha told the court that she married her husband after the failure of her first marriage.
Aisha, who is a mother of three told the court that before she packed into her husband's house, as the tradition demanded, she was invited into his parents house, adding that "when he came, we had sex but the experience was a nightmare. Instead of enjoying the sex, it turned out to be something else because his penis was too big."
She also revealed to the court that after the horrible experience, she took some medication, which was given to her by her mother.
"I told my mother about the experience but she told me to endure and that with time, I will be able to cope. She then gave me some drugs," she said.
She continued, "two days later when he came to visit me, we had sex again, but the experience was too much to bear. It was then I knew that I could not continue with the marriage because of the size of his penis."
The husband, Maizinari, who did not deny the wife's allegation, told the court that he was willing to divorce her only if she would pay back the dowry and all that he spent on her during the courtship.
When he was asked to state the total amount spent, Maizinari said that what he expected from her was N60,000.
However, the President of the court, Alhaji Mamman Shinkafi, told the couple to try to reconcile before their next date in court.
Gosh! Okada Rider R»pes Pregnant 'Corper'
The incident occurred at Imoru, in Ose Local Government Area, when the victim, (names withheld) boarded a motor bike on her way to her residence.
The suspect was said to have veered off the road, dragged the pregnant woman into the bush and raped her.
Confessing to the crime at the police command where he was paraded, Ayileka said he did not know what came over him while he carried the lady on his bike.
He said it was his first time of raping anyone, adding that he felt a sense of remorse after the act and had to take his victim home after.
He said, "She approached me around 7.p.m at Ifon that I should take her to Imoru community where she serves and I obliged after agreeing to pay N500.
"On our away going, I don't know the spirit that fell on me and I don't know when I rode her inside the bush and had carnal knowledge of her.
"Immediately after that incident, the spirit went off and I was ashamed of myself, I didn't know she was pregnant before and I even took her home. Later on, she reported to the police station and I was arrested.
"I didn't know the spirit that fell on me because I have never done that before."
Ayileka was one of the 27 suspected criminals paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke during his monthly press conference held in Akure, the State Capital.
Eke who confirmed the incident, said the rapist dragged her into the bush and "forcefully and unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her."
Tell Nigerians Where You Got Money To Purchase Private Jets -PDP Challenges APC
Fani-Kayode, in his reaction to an allegation by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, that the President Goodluck Jonathan administration was planning to use the Aviation Ministry to ground the private jets belonging to senior members of the APC and frustrate the party's campaign, said it was interesting that APC has admitted, for the first time, that their leaders own private jets.
According to him: "It is interesting that the APC has, for the very first time, admitted that some of its leaders own private jets. It will be interesting to know from the APC how these leaders who either occupied public offices or still occupy public offices acquired these jets. In fact, where did the money with which they procured the jets come from?
"And this is the APC whose leaders pretend to occupy a moral high ground and accuse everyone else except themselves of malfeasance.
"Once again, it is clear that the APC leaders have become prisoners of their own delusions and they are being held captive by their own hallucinations. This is a clear case of extreme paranoia.
Drama As APC, PDP In Messy Fight Over Allegations That Osinbajo Swore An Oath To Hand Over To Tinubu If APC Wins
The APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPO), vehemently denied the charge.
But the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) insisted that Tinubu planned to replace Osinbajo six months after APC would have won the presidential election.
Mohammed said the allegation was designed to divert attention from "the runaway success of the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Chatham House in London last Thursday.
The APCPCO, in its own statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said there was no iota of truth in the claim first raised by his PDPPCO counterpart, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Friday.
'Nauseating claims'
The APC National Publicity Secretary, in his statement issued in London, said "the PDP and the Jonathan administration still do not have any answer to what has now become an epochal moment that has separated the wheat from the chaff."
"Our presidential candidate's globally-acclaimed outing has presented Nigerians, and indeed the global community, with a choice between a visionless President and principled President-in-waiting", he stated.
"Having failed to discredit that outing, the PDP and the Jonathan administration have now resorted to making nauseating claims that are totally untrue, absolutely incomprehensible and nothing but sheer bunkum".
The APC said the claim is the latest in a series of desperate moves by the PDP and the Jonathan administration since the emergence of Buhari as the APC presidential candidate,
"They have thrown everything imaginable at Gen. Buhari, but he has continued to wax stronger and stronger. They said he was not qualified, that he was too old, then they fabricated a medical report of an illness of their own choice, sponsored death wish adverts against him and instituted a myriad of court cases to stop him.
The preposterous claim of a secret oath – reminiscent of what they do in their own party – is their latest desperate act".
The opposition party said it has so far refrained from engaging Fani-Kayode in his "game of character assassination, abuses and irresponsible name calling".
`Tales by moonlight'
Shehu, in his statement, asked the PDP and the Presidency to focus more on the dwindling economy and corruption instead of engaging in unfounded lies.
" The Director of Communication for the PDP Presidential Campaign, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said with uncanny impudence that the APC Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was made to agree to an oath to resign six months after and allow Senator Bola Tinubu, in the event that APC wins the presidential election. Quite evidently, this piece of bunkum was meant to vitiate the integrity of our respected Vice Presidential candidate by the band of dishonourable politicians in the PDP. We state, without any iota of equivocation, that this is untrue and unfounded," the APCPCO statement said.
"It continued: We have shown these examples of the PDP-led Presidency's conduct in desperately laying hold at straw despite the rejection of the Nigerian people, ahead of the general elections. Unfortunately, the PDP-led Presidency seeks to change the narrative by resorting to tales by moonlight.
"On our part, we shall continue to insist on these enviable standards of good governance in the Nigerian political space."
`APC cannot deny conspiracy'
But responding to the APC statements, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Fani-Kayode, maintained that the "plot will fail". He dismissed the response by the APC as feeble.
Fani-Kayode said that rather than respond to the alleged plot, Lai Mohammed claimed that the issue was meant to "divert attention from the runaway success of the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Chatham House in London last Thursday."
"From the APC response, it is clear that they have something to hide. They clearly cannot deny this dangerous plot".
He continued: "We are not surprised by the denials of the APC in this matter. They are and will always be a party that is built on lies. The APC is now throwing stones and hurling baseless allegations and insults at our President, our leaders and our party. They forget that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
"It is not the PDP whose presidential candidate killed people by the application of retroactive legislation and that sent innocent men to their early graves by sending them to jail unlawfully for hundreds of years without any recourse to due process.
"We stand by our claims and the only thing that is outlandish in this matter is the bizarre and insatiable lust for power of the APC and those that are premising their presidential ambition on someone else's demise. "
The Bakare expisode
The PDPPCO went on: "Such morbid projections have no place in any civilised society. The truth is that the APC is a party that is used to back-room deals where people take oaths and in which people are asked to sign perjurous and illegal letters of resignation even before they are elected into office. If anyone doubts that they should ask Pastor Tunde Bakare who was asked to sign a letter of resignation by both Tinubu and Buhari in 2011 even when he had not been elected to the exalted position of Vice President.
"We stand by our claim and we warn the APC and their leaders to stop playing Russian roulette with the destiny of the Nigerian people. They can rest, assured that any arrangement or back room deal that is outside the democratic process and that is outside the will of the Nigerian people will be resisted. They must not throw our country into yet another round of crisis, turmoil, instability and uncertainty by entering into and attempting to enforce any sordid and unacceptable resignation pact which is designed to eventually usher in Bola Tinubu as President.
"We wish General Buhari good health and long life and it is only a small handful of desperate and unconscionable elements within the leadership of his own party that wish him otherwise. We advise him to watch his back and take full measures to protect himself against these desperate elements because their plan is, at the very worst, for either Tinubu to take over the position of Vice President after the planned resignation of Osinbajo and then wait for something untoward to happen to Buhari so that he can take over or, at best, for Osinbajo to take over and for Tinubu to rule through him.
"Both plans and projections are repugnant and they are both rooted in treachery.
"Whichever way, whether it is Buhari or Tinubu, these plans shall not come to pass because Buhari and the APC will not win the presidential election. We say this because, by the grace of God and the will of the Nigerian people, we shall give them the thrashing of their lives in that election.
Private jets, bank accounts
Meanwhile, the APC, yesterday, alleged a plot by the PDP administration to ground aircraft and also freeze bank accounts of some of its notable members.
A statement by Shehu said the clandestine move was aimed at destabilizing the APC and crippling the electoral chances of its presidential flag-bearer, Buhari, in the forthcoming elections.
In a reaction, Fani-Kayode called on Nigerians to question the APC leaders on how they acquired private jets.
"It is interesting that the APC has, for the very first time, admitted that some of its leaders own private jets. It will be interesting to know from the APC how these leaders who either occupied public offices or still occupy public offices acquired these jets. In fact, where did the money with which they procured the jets come from?", the PDPCO Director of Media and Publicity said.
PDP Accuses APC Of Having Secret Deal With INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega
He said, "Undoubtedly, the frenzy, hysteria and spate with which the APC has been inventing stories regarding Prof. Jega's stay in office even when nothing suggests that such was on the table, raise a lot of issues.
"We ask, is there any underlining issue or arrangement between the APC and Prof. Jega which the opposition is hell-bent on protecting and informing its anxiety and apprehension towards his stay in office?
"While it is noted that the APC is a party of one week, one lie, we in the PDP look beneath the surface to the deeper issues propelling the lies.
"We therefore challenge the APC to come clean and tell Nigerians the real reason behind their false alarms and uncontrolled nervousness regarding Prof. Jega ahead of the 2015 general elections.
"Finally, we wish to remind the leadership of INEC that Nigerians are monitoring its activities and series of unfolding political events ahead of the elections, and will not accept anything less than the conduct of credible, free and fair general elections come March 28 and April 11, 2015."
Reacting to these, the APC said President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP are not interested in the 2015 elections.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Lai Mohammed, said this in response to an e-mail sent to him by Source, on Saturday.
Mohammed, who is in London on an official assignment said, "The plain truth is President Jonathan and the PDP don't want elections at all.
"If Jega is removed, his successor will simply claim that as a new helmsman, he should be given more time to prepare for the elections. Therefore we don't want Jega removed because we don't want elections postponed again. There is no other ulterior motive.
"Is it not strange that President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP who appointed Prof. Jega and praised his handling of all elections since he came on board as transparent is now suddenly afraid of him and want him out by all means."
FG Reportedly Shortlist Four INEC Commissioners For Jega's Job
It was reliably learnt that Jega might be asked to hand over to one of the commissioners in INEC and also proceed on a three-month terminal leave.
During a presidential media chat on February 11, President Goodluck Jonathan had reassured Nigerians that he had no plan to remove the INEC chairman from office. The President's reassurance came at a time when speculation was rife that government had perfected plans to remove Jega. But some stakeholders who spoke after the interview had dismissed the President's reassurances as needless, adding that the laws of the land do not confer on the president powers to remove the INEC chairman.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Supervising Minister of Information, Mr. Edem Duke, had also said the President had no plan to sack Jega.
"On the issue of the INEC chairman, I align myself with what the President said that he has no plan to sack the INEC chairman.
"That is not to say that if it is time for the INEC chairman to naturally exit his office, then the natural course of things will not take place.
"It is like saying a civil servant has done 35 years or achieved the age of 60; we now begin to say that he must not retire or he must retire," Duke had said.
However, the minster drew parallels between Jega's conditions of service and those of civil servants, reigniting speculation that the Presidency might go ahead with the plan to remove Jega.
Earlier, there had been reports that Prof. Femi Mimiko, brother of the Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, had been pencilled in for the position but investigations by our correspondents showed that the former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State was no longer in contention.
Sources said the national commissioners that might take over from Jega could come from a list made up of Dr. Mohammed Wali from Sokoto State, Mrs. Amina Zakari from Jigawa State, Colonel Mohammed Kurmi Hammanga (rtd.) from Adamawa State and Dr. Ishmael Igbani from Rivers State.
It was learnt that the person that would take over would act as chairman till June 30 when the tenure of Jega would expire.
The Federal Government, it was learnt, had decided against appointing an 'outsider' because preparations for the elections had reached an advanced stage.
Investigations further showed that the FG had yet to decide on whether to appoint the acting chairman from the North-West, where Jega hails from or to take the post to another zone.
It was learnt that Wali and Zakari were shortlisted because they hailed from the North-West.
Igbani and Hammanga were included on the list because of the argument among some top government officials that the INEC chairmanship should not be subjected to the principle of zoning.
A top Federal Government official revealed on Saturday that, "None of the commissioners have been informed because the government has not decided whether to retain the post in the North-West or take it to another zone.
"The terminal leave letter that the All Progressives Congress senators were talking about has not been written, but I cannot deny the fact that government wants Jega to proceed on terminal leave.
"Anytime the letter is written and Jega gets it, it will contain the name of the person he will hand over to."
It was learnt that the government officials, who advocated that one of the INEC commissioners should be appointed, argued that with less than three weeks to the elections, getting Jega's replacement from outside of the commission could be complicated.
A top government official, who is privy to the discussions in government circles in relating to Jega's fate, said, "Time is of the essence. The truth is, if you bring someone from outside, he or she will need time to understand the place and know what is happening. It will be difficult for such a person to fully understand what is on the ground.
"However, if we get someone who is already within the system, it will be easier for the person to identify areas where errors were made and correct them within the time left.
"There are also those who are making a case for a neutral person. This set of people argue that after all, Jega himself was brought in from outside and he did a good job of the 2011 elections."
Several calls and a text message to the Special Assistant (Media and Communications) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Sam Nwaobasi, were not replied. Reports have said Jega's terminal leave letter was written by the SGF.
Also, attempts to reach the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters Prof. Rufai Alkali and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe were unsuccessful. Calls to their mobile phone indicated that it was unreachable. A response to text messages sent to them were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, could not be reached as his telephone lines were not connecting.

Northern Elders Kicks Against Removal Of INEC Chair, Jega
Spokesperson for the Forum, Ango Abdullahi, who conveyed this note of caution while addressing a press conference on Friday, categorically asserted that the inordinate ouster of "Jega at this material time will be a recipe for disaster".
He said further, "any attempt at this last minute by this government or its agency to remove Jega is a clear message that this government is determined to rig an election in which they see Jega as an impediment simply because he thinks that the commission must follow the rules for a free and fair and credible election".
NIGERIA's VICTOR MOSES AIDS STOKE's LONE GOAL WIN
Peter Crouch needed just two minutes
after coming off the bench to strike the decisive blow as Stoke City defeated Hull City 1-0 on Saturday.
Crouch headed home with his second touch after coming on as a second half substitute at the Britannia Stadium, ending Hull's recent resurgence.
A lacklustre, scrappy first half ended without a single effort on target from either team. Charlie Adam's introduction at the break gave Stoke a lift, but his two early efforts on Allan McGregor's goal both went wide.
Mose was in the picture again as he played down Adam , Adam then turned provider for Crouch in the 72nd minute, as he lifted an inch perfect cross into the penalty area for the veteran striker to nod home in trademark fashion.

DORTMUND THRASH SCHALKE IN INTRIGUING ENCOUNTER
Dortmund extended their Bundesliga winning streak to four games with a deserved 3-0 win over bitter rivals Schalke in the 146th Revierderby on Saturday.
A dominant first half at Signal Iduna Park saw Dortmund create a number of chances, but they could not find a way through.
The home faithful may have feared a frustrating stalemate, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on hand 12 minutes from time to pounce on a defensive error and slot home, before Henrikh Mkhitaryan converted Ilkay Gundogan's cross to make the result safe.
Having made a string of saves earlier in the match, 19-year-old goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther's first taste of the Ruhr clash was
soured as his dawdling in possession gifted Marco Reus Dortmund's third.
The result sees Dortmund's recent recovery continue, while dealing a blow to Schalke's Champions League qualification ambitions, with Roberto Di Matteo's men having mustered just one win in their last five Bundesliga outings.

Suarez Can't Stop Scoring As Barca Win Spanish Cracker
Luis Suarez's hot streak continued on Saturday as the Uruguayan inspired Barcelona's 3-1 win over Granada in La Liga.
The former Liverpool star, who netted twice in Wednesday's 2-1 Champions League triumph at Manchester City, scored his fourth goal in as many matches and had a hand in two more, ensuring Barca bounced back from their shock 1-0 defeat to Malaga last weekend.
Suarez played a crucial role in Barca's first, setting up Ivan Rakitic for an easy finish with just under half-an-hour played at Estadio Nuevo
Los Carmenes.
And the pair switched roles at the start of the second half, as the Croatia playmaker teed up Suarez to open a two-goal lead.
Granada swiftly responded, as Fran Rico buried a 53rd-minute penalty, but the Catalans killed off any hopes of a revival in the 70th minute, with Lionel Messi tapping in for his 27th league goal of the season following more impressive play by Suarez.

ROONEY'S BRACE SEES UNITED OFF STUBBORN SUNDERLAND
A Wayne Rooney brace gave Manchester United a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday but the match was
overshadowed by a massive refereeing error.
Roger East awarded a penalty after John O'Shea fouled Radamel Falcao in the box leading to Rooney's opener – but the official then showed Wes Brown the red card, despite O'Shea's protestations.
With the Black Cats down to 10 men Rooney doubled his tally in the 84th minute as Louis Van Gaal's men picked up three vital points to
move into third in the Premier League table.
Rooney had headed a corner wide at the near post in the fourth minute as United made an encouraging start, although Sunderland soon fired two early warnings of their own.
