Along with the Presidential Elections, Nigerians also chose their Senators on the 28th of March 2015.
But unfortunately, many Nigerians were unfamiliar with their Senate representatives leaving many voters voting for the party other than the candidate during the elections.
The senatorial contest was very interesting as many big wigs including sitting governors loosing their bids to go to the senate.
Governors Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Jonah David Jang (Plateau), Theodore Orji (Abia), Godswill Akapbio (Akwa Ibom) and incumbent senator and former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, and former Governor of Ebonyi State Dr. Sam Egwu, all won their senatorial districts elections to book their seats in the senate in the next dispensation.
Also victorious in the senatorial election are incumbent senator, Andy Uba; former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah and and member, House of Representatives, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, all from Anambra State.
However Governors Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Gabriel Suswam(Bauchi), and Usman Dakingari (Kebbi), Senate Committee on Finance and former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and Senate Leader, Senator Abdul Ningi, all failed to book a place in the senate.
Others who failed to win the senate seats are the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh; former Governor of Anambra State and incubent senator, Dr. Chris Ngige; former Executive Vice-Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mr. Ernest Ndukwe.
In Bauchi, Yuguda lost his bid to represent Bauchi South senatorial district in the Senate as he was beaten in a landslide victory by Mallam Ali Wakili, a retired Comptroller of Customs.

Oba Of Lagos Says Any Igbo Who Doesn't Vote Ambode Would Die Within Seven Days
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu has threatened Igbos in Lagos, saying any Ibo man or woman who fails to vote Lagos state APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor in next Saturday's governorship election will die within 7 days. According to Oba Akiolu, he owns Lagos and his bidding must be done by everyone in the state.
Daily Independent reports that Oba Akiolu gave out the threat when he met with Igbo leaders resident in Lagos at his Palace yesterday April 5th.
"On Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn't happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and its not my father who gave birth to me. By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water.
For the Igbos and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they didn't come with all their houses. But now they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God. I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he can never be governor in Lagos for now. The future belongs to God. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you can not do it here.
If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish in the water. I am for the progress, growth and development in Lagos, Ambode is highly cerebral, he's a symbol and he is going to deliver the message which I the Oba of Lagos have said. And he will govern the state for another eight years. He is going on a mission and God will give him the wisdom and knowledge to fulfill that mission. Almost a year ago, I declared that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos and it will not change. From time immemorial, the previous occupiers of this house will say what they wanted after consultation with other people. And this hasn't change and it will not change at this time." he allegedly said

Superb Ronaldo Scores Five Goals In Ten Goal Cracker...hit 300 goal mark for Real
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Ronaldo scored five goals, including a first-half hattrick, as Real Madrid thrashed Granada at the Bernabeu.
The world player of the year's first three came within eight minutes following Gareth Bale's opener, putting Real 4-0 up at the break.
Ronaldo's fourth came in the second half between two from Karim Benzema.
Robert Ibanez reduced the arrears before Diego Mainz's own goal, with Ronaldo heading his fifth late on.
The ex-Manchester United forward scored five in a game for the first time, helping put Real one point behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, who have played a game less, while improving their
goal difference.
Granada, 19th in the table, withstood Real until the 24th minute when Bale rounded the goalkeeper to put the Champions League
holders ahead.
By half-time Ronaldo had his fifth hat-trick of the league season, and his 24th in La Liga, drawing level with Barca rival Lionel Messi.
Benzema's pair and Ronaldo's fourth came in a five-minute spell early in the second half, while Ibanez's consolation proved almost worthless when Mainz's mistake and Ronaldo's late header emphasised the gulf between the two sides.
Cristiano Ronaldo moved to 300 goals for Real
Madrid on Sunday as he scored five times in the
9-1 rout of Granada.
Former Spain skipper Raul scored 323 goals in
741 games for Real, while Di Stefano's tally stands
at 308 from 396 outings.
Ronaldo reached the 300 mark in an astounding
287 games, with 214 of those goals coming in La
Liga. The Portugal captain has 60 to his name in
the UEFA Champions League, as well as 21 in the
Copa del Rey, three in the Supercopa de
Espana and two in the European Super Cup.
After his stunning display on Sunday, Ronaldo
tweeted: "Happy to have scored 5 goals with this
excellent team work. Thank you for all your
support."
Ronaldo now sits eighth in La Liga's all-time
scoring charts, having overtaken Pahino, who
scored 211 times in 278 games for Real, Celta
Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna in the 1940s and
50s.

Suarez Protege Emerges, Bites Opponent
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Juan Arango embodied the biting spirit of Barcelona star Luis Suarez by biting on the shoulder of an opponent on Saturday.
Just before the full-time whistle blew, Club Tijuana were 4-3 down against Monterrey in the Mexican league game and Venezuelan midfielder Arango took out his frustration by chomping down on Jesus Zavala.
Zavala went to ground in agony then Monterrey players surrounded the referee to bring the bite to the attention of the referee; however, no immediate action was taken against Arango,
who scored from a superb free kick for Tijuana in their home loss.
The 34-year-old, who played for Real Mallorca and Borussia monchengladbach before leaving Europe for Mexico last year, could face a lengthy ban upon retrospective action.
The moment evoked memories of Uruguay striker Suarez's bite on Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at World Cup 2014 - the third time
that the former Liverpool and Ajax man assaulted a fellow footballer with his teeth.
Arango is a Venezuela legend having made 121 appearances and scored 23 goals - since making his debut for the country in 1999
and is regarded as the among the best players the South American nation has ever produced.

Since the pronouncements of the results, residents of the town had not relented in ceaseless celebrations as party faithful and supporters of the All Progressives Congress APC were seen rolling out drums with victory songs when vanguard visited the town yesterday.
A joyous mother, Hajia Rekiya Adamu, popularly called Amadodo who incidentally is the only surviving sister out of the 24 family members of the President-Elect. Mohammadu Buhari was also in celebration mood. In an interview with Vanguard, the Octogenarian revealed how the President-elect was raised, his childhood and relationship with members of the community.

Hajia, now that your only blood brother has emerged as Nigeria's President-elect, what do you have to say about his upbringing?
Buhari, since he was a boy has always been a calm person. He doesn't talk so much and he avoids trouble with others. He is very caring, he is very close to his relations, he is such a person that doesn't like to break family ties. He tries as much as he can to link up with others anywhere. He lived with me before when he was schooling in Katsina. I was married then and every one was amazed by his conduct because no one ever reported him to me. He is intelligent and I remember during his childhood he was outstanding. He has no enemy. Even now, go around Daura town, he has no enemy. His attitude has endeared him to all.
How close is he to the family, having been such a public figure?
I'm his only elder sister, he always visits me. Even during tight schedule especially during election campaign, he always found time to see me. I mean he would sneak in to see everybody. Anything that I or any distant relation needs, he never hesitates to provide. He tries his best to make the family happy.
Among his siblings, how do they see him?
We were 24 in the family, all others have died remaining Buhari and me. They used to call him Akali during his childhood. That is the name our parents and relatives call him. I cannot recall why they called him that, because I was small then but I know that is the name we called him. We also call him Leko because he was born after twins.
How did your parents regard him?
They held him in high esteem. He returned when he was held in prison when our mother died, they really loved him and showed all of us love and care.
Now that he is the incoming president how do you see his victory?
It's blessing to Nigeria because he had held that position before, but as a military man. He is honest and trustworthy and these attributes are still his hallmark. We pray God to see him through this national assignment. We call on Nigerians to give him the needed support to enable him transform the country.

Confirming the incident, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Gabriel Ada, quoted an eyewitness, saying the fire started at about 1:30AM burning the whole building down including all the sensitive and insensitive materials in the building.
He also noted that according to some of the staff present during the incident, the fire was caused by generating set.
He however, said the fire did not affect all the card readers in the area as they were kept in a safe place before the incident.
He noted that the fire incident might cause a little set back in the area with regards to Saturday's governorship and state assembly elections.
He, however, assured that the commission would ensure that everything is put in place in order to ensure elections hold in the area on Saturday.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem, in a telephone conversation with Channels Television correspondent, said some arrests have been made concerning the incident and investigations are ongoing.

Ekiti Lawmakers Says No Going Back On Fayose Impeachment
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers in Ekiti State House of Assembly have said there is no going back on the impeachment notice issued against Governor Ayodele Fayose.
The embattled Speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, said the governor could not run away from the process because the impeachment notice served on him was a constitutional matter and contained serious issues of the law.
He said instead of staying in hiding to evade justice, it was better to live with the reality that the rule of law had come to stay in the country.
The Speaker said this while reacting to media reports credited to the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers in the House, Dele Olugbemi, and the governor's media aide, Lere Olayinka, dismissing the impeachment notice, and describing it as a joke.
Omirin, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, said the move was to rescue democracy from the gridlock of executive lawlessness and impunity into which the state had been driven by the governor.
He said, "It will soon dawn on Fayose and his aides that the matter at hand goes beyond exuberant media skirmishes that are being deployed to rally support for the governor.
"Attention of the world has shifted to Ekiti State following the leaked tape detailing electoral fraud perpetrated to give Fayose victory. After that, several issues in Ekiti State are being questioned on the place of the constitution in nurturing democracy in the country, and as responsible citizens, we must act right to make democracy work."
Omirin said all allegations raised in the impeachment notice were constitutional matters, to which the governor must be ready to produce answers instead of his "belligerent attitude" in the media in addressing serious issue of constitutional significance.
Advising the governor to respond to the allegations against him, he said running away from the Government House and using his aides to cover his track would not help him in defending his assault on the nation's constitution and other infractions against the constitution that were already established against him in courts.
He said, "It is good that his men are talking in the media about the need to uphold the constitution in this matter even though they behave short of upholding the constitution in their conduct.
"Even though the governor trampled on the same constitution when he led thugs to attack judges in court and tore court records in the Chief Judge's office, our duty is to follow constitutional path in this impeachment process.
"These men that are flying the governor's banner will soon see the law in action. This impeachment process is real. We must rescue Ekiti State from lawlessness and fraud. The N1.3 billion poultry project fraud case is still in court. There are still cases of unresolved murders.
"We have again seen the resumption of state-sponsored terrorism with thugs attacking and maiming Ekiti people after a break in 2006 when the governor was impeached for fraud and attacks on opponents.
"We thought his impeachment trauma in 2006 would have thought him a lesson, but the governor has proved that he cannot survive in a society where the law works. We advise him to come out of hiding and defend himself because we are prepared to give him a fair hearing. That is the reality he must face instead of downplaying serious matter of constitutional consequences."

Lagos Has Always Made Progress As An Opposition State -Jimi Agbaje
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, says the state has always been doing well as an opposition state.
Agbaje said this in a statement while reacting to claims by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, who said that Lagos would perform better if it was aligned to the centre.
Agbaje had also said during a governorship debate (before President Goodluck Jonathan's defeat), that Lagos would experience better development if it was aligned with the centre. The APC had since last week been using it to campaign against him.
However, on Sunday, Agbaje said Lagos had always been in the opposition since the Second Republic when the Unity Party of Nigeria under the leadership of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, transformed the state.
He noted that during the short-lived Third Republic, Lagos belonged to the National Republican Convention of Sir. Michael Otedola and in the Fourth Republic, it was under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and then Governor Babatunde Fashola who had been in the opposition until the APC won the presidential election last week.
Agbaje said, "What I know, however, is that Lagos has always made progress in spite of being in the opposition. In fact, if my memory serves me well, Lagos and the Federal Government have never been in the same party. Our development as a state is as a result of our ingenuity, tenacity and drive as a people and it is clear that Lagosians can see through this total botch of logic.
"In 1979 up till 1983, L.K Jakande's achievements were under the UPN even though President Shagari was in the NPN. In 1992, Governor Otedola was in the NRC and the Social Democratic Party-led the Federal Government before the June 12 annulment. In 1999, Tinubu was in the AD while the Federal Government was in the PDP.
"From 2007-2011, Governor Fashola was in the Action Congress of Nigeria while President Umaru Yar'adua was in the PDP. Under Yar'Adua, the Federal Government released withheld funds to Lagos that had been blocked by his predecessor (Olusegun Obasanjo) despite being in a different party from Fashola. Our edge as a state has always been about our collective ability to stay ahead of the curve without favour from the Federal Government."
Agbaje said the people of Lagos had nothing to fear if they remained in the opposition because the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, had promised that he would not run a vindictive government.
The PDP governorship candidate said since the APC was demanding for change, change must also come to Lagos next Saturday.

Fashola Denies Sacking Ambode As Lagos Accountant-General
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said he did not sack the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, while the latter was the Accountant-General of the state.
The Peoples Democratic Party had said Ambode was sacked by Fashola for financial impropriety but Fashola denied the allegation, saying it was part of the desperate attempts by the PDP to win Saturday's governorship election.
Fashola said this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, on Saturday.
The statement read, "Governor Fashola has repudiated the insinuation that the APC governorship candidate was dismissed from the state's civil service, describing it as one of the many lies of the PDP aimed at deceiving voters into voting for them.
"He explained that Mr. Ambode retired voluntarily from the public service after 27 years of meritorious service to the state, adding that he (governor) wrote him a letter of commendation."
Fashola urged the people of Lagos not to vote for the PDP on Saturday as the PDP-led Federal Government had done nothing to merit their votes.
He said the Federal Government still owed Lagos about N51bn.
The statement added, "The governor noted that the PDP had done nothing in the last 16 years but lie to Nigerians about practically everything, including the state of the economy and the security situation as well as other sensitive issues that affect the lives of the people.
"Urging the people not to be deceived by such lies, Governor Fashola pointed out that in the last 16 years, the PDP-controlled Federal Government had ignored the state in federal appointments and not only failed to maintain its numerous infrastructure in the state but refused to pay back to the state the money it (Lagos) has spent in maintaining federal assets in the state including roads and bridges, amounting to N51bn."
The governor said the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, was misleading civil servants on the issue of leave allowance and minimum wage.
The statement recalled that the issue of minimum wage was settled on February 7, 2011, when the state government signed an agreement with the 14 approved labour unions in the state civil service to pay N18, 780 to the lowest paid of its workers.
The agreement, brokered by the then Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr. Jide Sanwoolu, according to the statement , increased the minimum wage of the lowest paid worker in the employment of the government by 69.6 percent which is a 7.6 percent increase over the Federal Government approved National Minimum Wage.
Fashola said his administration was not only the first to implement the minimum wage structure but also added to the N18,000 minimum wage across board, a gesture for which the public servants commended the administration.

Lagos Prophet Reveals Jimi Agbaje Would Emerge Lagos Governor
Add BBN on 2BAFB965
As Nigerians are expected to throng various polling units on Saturday, April 11, 2015 to exercise their civic responsibility, Prophet Hephzibah, popularly known as 'Baba Peculiar' has revealed who Lagos State next governor will be.
Speaking with Daily Independent correspondent at the Igando branch of the Peculiar Church, prophet Hephzibah revealed that the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje will emerge as the next governor of Lagos.
The clergyman said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), may want to overrule in seeing that Agbaje does not win the governorship election.
"This election that is coming on Saturday may God intervene, what happened at Abuja may cause another thing now. APC may lose; APC will try their possible best with all their power and strength to have Lagos but is not in the plan. That is what is going to cause many things if care is not taken but if things are allowed to go rightly, Agbaje is supposed to be the governor but may God help us, because that is why I said we have never seen anything," he said.
Prophet Hephzibah further hinted that if APC want to have Lagos by force whatever that comes up from such development would be experienced by everybody.
"That is why I said we have not seen anything yet. Whatever God says will come to pass, I did not call you here to elevate Baba Peculiar, and a prophet is someone that can tell the truth without fear, so I am not scared of dying for I can only die once," he said.

The popular Osun State-born Prophet who reportedly predicted the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election in one of his prophesies, has disclosed that the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, needs fervent prayers from Nigerians in order not to die in power like President Umaru Yar'Adua.
