The super eagles of Nigeria travelled for the battle of Pointe Noire with just four points from their opening four games with the knowledge that anything less than three point against Congo could spell doom for their Afcon 2015 qualifying ticket.
Football enthusiast all over the country sat tight with their various television set to watch their dear country play the beautiful game of soccer which kicked off at exactly 3:30pm local time.
All eyes was on the anointed son of Nigeria football fan base and Villarreal of Spain hit man Ik Uche as he made his Eagles return after nearly two years away from the National team. Despite terrorising the defence of the opposition and Congo's Almeria forward Bifoume causing all sort of problems for the eagles defence, the first half ended goalless with both team failing to hit the back of the net.
Fortunes were to change in the second half when Emmanuel Emenike was brought down in the penalty box and Ik Uche slotted home the penalty to mark his return to the national team set up with a goal.
However, with the eagles leading with a lone goal and less than eight minutes to end of the game, Ogenyi Onazi and Obi Mikel geared up for a fight after Onazi happened to have questioned Mikel's hunger following a free head that almost handed the opposition a goal.
Less than three minutes later Keshi's Chinese product Aaron Samuel met Omatsone Aluko's deflected pass with a well curled tantalising Left foot to take the game completely from the reach of the Congolese players and understandably the fans could not take it again and the match was abandoned for some minutes because of crowd disturbance.
After 100 Minutes of football, the referee blew the final whistle and the Super Eagles of Nigeria claimed all three point to put their African cup of Nations qualifying chance in the own hand.
