Insurgency Or NOT! University Of Maiduguri Matriculates 6,250
The University of Maiduguri on Tuesday matriculated 6,250 students for its degree programmes.
At the matriculation ceremony, which was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Ibrahim Njodi, took place at the convocation square of the university.
The Vice – Chancellor called on the newly admitted students to familiarise themselves with all the institution's rules and regulations and strictly adhere to them.
He said the matriculation oath they took was an assurance that they had come to the university to learn and acquire knowledge diligently and be of good behaviour.
He warned them against cultism, drug abuse and violent demonstration and other anti-social behaviours, adding that no misconduct would be tolerated in the school.
Highlights of the occasion included the administration of the matriculation oath on the newly admitted students by the Registrar of the University, Mallam Babagana Aji.
A breakdown of the number of students shows that the Faculty of Education has the highest number with 1,650 students followed by Faculty of Science, 1050 students; Faculty of Social Science has 775 students; Faculty of Management Science, 689 and Faculty of Engineering has 582 new students.
Others include Faculty of Arts, 410; Faculty of Agriculture, 395; College of Medical Sciences, 340; Faculty of Law, 201; Faculty of Pharmacy, 90; and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 68 fresh students.
