Five members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives from Ogun State have dumped the party to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), reports disclosed.
The lawmakers are Tunde Ogundara, Adeyemi Adekunle, Olumide Osoba, Abiodun Balogun and Taofeek Braimoh.
Reading their letters of defection on the floor of the House on Tuesday, the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, said the lawmakers cited Section 68 (1g) of the 1999 Constitution as part of their reason for defecting.
The lawmakers are following the footsteps of the three senators from the state who dumped APC for the SDP.

In a swift reaction five members also announced their defection from the ruling PDP to APC. Four members have earlier defected on Tuesday but a rep from Kogi state Hon. Ina Usman made it five when he announced his defection Wednesday. He sited crises in the state chapter of the party as his reason for abandoning the PDP although many has attributed his defection to his recent loss at the primary election where he sought re-election.
As it stands, PDP still controls majority with 191 members while APC has 154.
