This will be the first protest by he lecturers of the institution in the history of University of Lagos.
The protest was tagged as 'management insensitvity' as many senior lecturers and other union leaders were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions like "ASUU says no to national promotion;" "No to Accumulated Leave," and "No to no vacancy, No to no Ph.d no promotion," among others.
It was revealed that the academic staff had been battling the management over non-payment of accumulated earned allowances. They accused the management of sitting on the allowances, and threatened to go on indefinite strike.
The ASUU chairman, Dr. Adelaja Odukoya, who led the rally said the university is treating lecturers like second class citizens.
"The management is treating us as second class citizen and we are not given due benefits by the school authority", he lamented.
Its clear that if their voices are not heard, the students we be left to suffered. The Lecturers have further vowed to go on a complete strike next month if changes are not made by the management.
