The Democracy Watch Group (DWG) has condemned in a statement the threat to the lives of Nigerians by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) as reported in some National dailies recently.
The group said such statement is lawless and threat to democracy, peace, national unity and security of Nigerians.
The group also said such indiscreet statement from the Ijaw Youth Council constitutes a threat to the corporate existence of the federal republic of Nigeria as well as an affront on the constitutional rights of Nigerians as guaranteed by the laws of the land.
The group warned IYC that a society is built on adherence to rule of law by both the government and the governed and it behoves on all to play their part in a patriotic manner.
Hence, the group has sent a signed document to security agencies, calling on them to immediately investigate the threat to public peace by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) by inviting its leadership for questioning and be ready to discharge its constitutional responsibilities toward 2015 general elections.
