The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 24, 2015 arraigned Justice Unuafe and his son, Omorigho Unuafe, before Justice Lambo Akanbi of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on a 4-count charge bordering on obstruction, possession of fraudulent documents and obtaining money by false pretense.

Father and son were arrested by operatives of the EFCC upon intelligence gathered while investigating a reported case of internet scam.

The duo who are jobless, were found in possession of Honda Accord 2004 model and an Acura ZDX, without document to prove how they got the vehicles.

They pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

And Prof. Remi Sonaiya Of KOWA Had This To Say

My fellow Nigerians,‎
Roughly four months ago, I signified my intention to represent KOWA Party at the presidential elections. I was involved in a primary with three other aspirants and emerged our Party's nominee. The period between then and now has been challenging, revealing and deeply rewarding. Understandably, given our political culture, we were met from some quarters with cynicism from the very beginning, ours being a relatively new party with little funding and no known heavyweights. At the same time, many Nigerians saw in our audacious candidacy the possibility of real change and a clear departure from what we have known so far as a nation.‎
I am proud of what we have achieved over this very short period. KOWA is now known not only across Nigeria but also by many people in the international space. We performed far above what we were expected to in every state of the Federation, and enquiries have been pouring in from many interested and inspired individuals across the nation, asking how they can join our party and help spread its ideals.
This experience has made me, now more than ever, convinced of the need for a value re-orientation in our country. As a society we appear to celebrate people who represent the ills we complain about, or are prepared to look the other way when they offer us temporary palliatives. This has to change, and I hope to work with my Party to continue to spread this message without which our hope of building a just and prosperous nation will forever remain a mirage.

I am also convinced that there is a quiet majority out there who see the truth in our message that only a leader with strong values and an independent mind can give us the change we need. As such, I intend to spend the coming years working with other members to grow KOWA Party and establish it as a solid and attractive platform of excellence for politicians of character and integrity.

Finally, many may not be aware, but the core support for my campaign was provided by volunteers. Ordinary people like me, who shared our message broadly in spite of disbelief and even derision from some supporters of some larger parties. To these ordinary people who saw themselves in my candidacy and made sacrifices to actualize our dream, I am greatly indebted and hereby express my profound gratitude.
This is not the end. This is only the beginning. The power to change Nigeria for good lies in all of us. While we congratulate the incoming government on their victory at the polls, we also remind them that something has changed significantly about the Nigerian people at this election, and that governments will from now on be held to account. God bless you all, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

ODD! Young Herbalist Kidnaps His Two Girlfriends For Money Ritual

No comments :

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a herbalist, Akeem Adeniyi, for allegedly abducting his girlfriends, identified simply as Bose and Busayo, with a view to using them for money ritual.

It was gathered that Adeniyi connived with two other suspects ─ Biodun Yusuf and one Raphael, who is still on the run ─ to abduct the victims.
It was learnt that two of the suspects were apprehended after the residents of the Alla-Isin area of Kwara State heard somebody screaming for help in Alla Grammar School at about 11pm on March 11 and rushed to the scene.
It was said that the residents could not find the victim on getting to the scene, but saw a Sienna Space Wagon bus believed to be the property of the people that attracted the residents.
Adeniyi reportedly told them that Busayo was her girlfriend and he was only trying to forcefully have sex with her when she screamed. He was said to have initially declined to reveal her whereabouts.
Police said Adeniyi and his friends were also responsible for the abduction of Bose, who was declared missing on March 19 by her father.

The herbalist, who claimed the second victim was also his girlfriend, reportedly led security operatives to their hideout, where Busayo and Bose were rescued alive.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were transferred from Oke-Onigbin Police Division to the Criminal Investigation and intelligence Department in Ilorin for proper investigation.

They were on Wednesday, arraigned before Mr. A.I. Babatunde of the Ilorin Magistrate's Court for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and homicide.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, Inspector David Wodi, contravene sections 97 and 274 of the Penal Code.
The charges read in part, "That on March 13, 2015, one Samuel Aboyeji of Baale Compound, Alla-Isin, reported at Oke-Onigbin division that on March 11, at about 11pm, they received information that somebody was screaming for help in Alla Grammar School and they mobilised themselves to the scene where they met one Akeem Adeniyi and one Biodun Yusuf with one Sienna Space Wagon bus and when they asked about the victim, Adeniyi stated that she, Busayo, was his girlfriend and she screamed when he attempted to rape her.
"On March 19, one Gabriel Neneher also reported that on March 11, his daughter, Bose, also Adeniyi's girlfriend, is missing.
"Police investigation revealed that you, Adeniyi, a herbalist, criminally conspired with one Biodun Yusuf and one Raphael, now at large, and kidnapped Busayo and Bose to unknown destination for money ritual."

Wodi prayed the court to remand the defendants in custody pending the completion of police investigation.
The defence counsel, A.I. Telim, however, urged the court to grant bail to his clients, relying on Section 36 (5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which presumed defendants innocent untill proven guilty.
Babatunde, who did not take the plea of the defendants, ordered that they be remanded in prison custody while the investigation continued.

The case was adjourned till April 15, 2015.

Jega Reveals He Is Done With INEC Job..."No Tenure Renewal For Me"

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, has declared that he would not serve another term as boss of the electoral body when his first tenure expires in June, even if he is asked.

Speaking in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Hausa) last night which was monitored by our reporter in Abuja, Jega said having played his role in the political space for five years, it was time another person was given the chance to contribute his own quota.

The nation's chief electoral officer in the just-concluded March 28 presidential election acknowledged that the task of leading INEC was a difficult one, and said he was not interested in tenure renewal and would not accept an offer of extension.
"I am grateful to God. I was asked to come and contribute my own quota to the national development and I have done my bit to the best of my ability.
"Whatever assignment one will do for five years – just like this difficult one, to me if one is able to successfully accomplish the task, someone else should be given the opportunity, because for me I am not interested and if I am requested to serve again, I will not do it, by God's grace," Jega said.

He noted that the introduction of the card reader device in the 2015 general elections had significantly helped to make the presidential election transparent, adding that there were few challenges that would be looked into in the forthcoming governorship/state assembly elections, including late coming attitude of electoral officials to polling centres.

Commenting on the allegations of bias against him by PDP chieftain, Mr Godsday Orubebe, at the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, Jega said he was unperturbed because he knew he had nothing to hide.
"I maintained my calmness because I knew all the allegations were false. There is nothing that frightens me or disturbs me because, of all our actions, we have explanations for them," he added.

Jega was appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010 to replace Prof Maurice Iwu. His five-year tenure elapses in June this year
