It appears that the Super Eagles of Nigeria would not be defending the trophy it won last year in South Africa as the Bafana Bafana this evening dimmed the hope of the Nigerian side following a 2-2 draw at the newly built Uyo international stadium.

Nigeria was bundled out of the qualifiers after it failed to defeat the Jacob Zuma boys who had already qualified before the match.

Despite the one man deficit the visitors faced following a 68-minute red card given to Letsholonyane, the Eagles failed to capitalise on it and the brace from Sone Aluko wasn't just enough.

Coach Ephraim 'Shakes' Mashaba had vowed to shock Nigeria which he did and for this act, the current African champions wouldn't be in Equatorial Guinea next year to defend the AFCON trophy.

The future of Coach Stephen Keshi now hangs in the balance as it is not expected that the NFF would renew his contract.

Money Trouble! Wife Kills Husband In Ikorodu Over Money

What started as a mild argument over money turned tragic between a couple in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State after the wife stabbed her husband to death.

The incident happened on Wednesday, last week, on TK Balogun Street, Igbo Olomu, Ishawo.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the woman, Folashade Sodiya, 27, killed her husband, Jude Igbinedor, 39, around 2am after heated argument over money.

They were said to have been in a seven-year relationship, though the union had not been consented to by the parents.

They reportedly got married without approval of their parents and started living together two years ago.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect, an indigene of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, had a one-year-old baby for the deceased, who was an Edo State indigene.

When our correspondent visited the area on Tuesday, a neighbour, Busola Adewunmi, explained that the couple had only recently relocated to the area.

She added that the couple had barely spent five days in their single room apartment when tragedy struck.

Adewunmi described them as gentle and respectful tenants, who complied with the rules of the house, adding that Folashade was, however, temperamental while her husband smoked.

She said, "They packed into this house penultimate Saturday morning, around 5am, and the incident happened on Wednesday morning.

"On Tuesday, the wife had asked someone to lend her N1,000 pending when her husband would come back from his mother's place where he had gone to.

"The man arrived and even bought vegetables and other food stuffs for his family. In the evening, he came out and also washed the pots they used to cook that day.

"It was around 2am that things went sore. I learnt she said he was the first to use a hanger to hit her before she also stabbed him in the chest."

Our correspondent learnt that after Jude was stabbed, Folashade called for help. However, Igbinedor gave up shortly after.

The neighbours were said to have alerted policemen from the Owutu Police Division.

Another resident, who spoke to PUNCH Metro, said when the police arrived at the scene, they met the suspect on the floor with her baby in her hands.

The resident, who declined identification, said, "She had become remorseful by then. When the police picked the wrong knife as exhibit, she told them she used a stainless knife in killing her husband, which she also fetched for them. It was said that she wanted to take part of the money the husband brought from her mother to offset the money she borrowed, but he declined.

"She never denied killing him. But she said he was the first to attack her and she only wanted to scare him with the knife."

PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased's corpse had been taken to the mortuary, while the suspect was detained at the Owutu Police Station.

A police source told our correspondent that the suspect and the deceased had been having silent quarrels before the incident.

The source said, "No one can tell what exactly caused this one. The woman, however, said her grouse with Jude was that he always gave her the impression he did her a favour by letting her have his child.

"She said she was holding the knife that night to scare him and did not know when he rushed at her and the knife entered his chest."

When our correspondent contacted a relative of the deceased, he declined comment, referring our correspondent to the family lawyer whose contact could not be obtained as of press time.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, however, confirmed the incident.

He said, "At about 1.15am on November 13, one Jude Igbinedor was stabbed on the chest by his wife, Folashade Shodiya. The victim died on the spot, while his corpse has been taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy."

He added that the case had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal earlier today dropped his presidential ambition after consultations with All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains who are strong backers of retired General Muhammadu Buhari.

Tambuwal will now contest for the position of governor in his home state of Sokoto according to impeccable sources close to the speaker.

One source disclosed that Tambuwal was "begged" by Buhari's people to step down so as not to sabotage his budding ambition as APC's consensus candidate in the upcoming party primaries.

Mr. Tambuwal sent tongues wagging when he recently decamped to the APC  after which series of events followed including the withdrawal of his police protection reportedly on the orders of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A few days later some house of representatives members visited Mr. Tambuwal at his official residence with the Presidential nomination forms for the APC.

However, several political sources stated that Tambuwal's sudden interest in the presidency was driven by Mr. Jonathan in an attempt to frustrate Buhari from emerging as APC candidate. Those sources told this medium that the high-profile fight to remove Tambuwal as speaker was done to raise his profile and attract public sympathy that could portray him as anti-establishment.‎

This Charity Song Is Derogatory Of Africa - Ghanaian Singer Tells The World

Fuse ODG

British born Ghanaian Singer, Nana Richard Abiona  known by his stage name Fuse ODG, has  pulled out of recording of Band Aid 30's charity single, " Do They Know its Christmas" because he feels it's a quick fix to a bigger problem.

Award winning Fuse ODG whose  debut album, TINA, an acronym for "This Is New Africa", was released on 5 October 2014 said the lyrics of the charity song stand against his believe of Africa as a great continent.

The controversial charity song is an updated version of Bob Geldof's 1984 original song of the same title and it is meant to raise money to combat the outbreak of Ebola in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

Fuse ODG

While many agreed that the cause is unquestionably important, many argued that the song is insulting, stereotype-ridden, and inaccurate portrayal of Africa as a continent.

Though the new Band Aid 30 single has been criticised for being damaging to Africa. The charity song has already become the fastest-selling single of 2014.

In an an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Fuse ODG said, "I just feel like in the short term we can raise a bit of money. People can feel good donating £2. But in the long term I don't see people going over to Africa and spending even more money. So I feel like in the long term it's quite detrimental to the continent.

"I felt it wasn't in line with the new African movement. I'm always banging on about how amazing Africa is and shedding light on the positives sides," the rapper said.

South London born Fuse ODG says he supports Bob Geldof's efforts to help but it's all about perspective.

"There's a lyric that says 'No peace and joy in West Africa this Christmas' but there's going to be peace and joy in West Africa, Ebola is only in three countries Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia," Fuse said.

In an earlier interview with BBC Newsbeat, Bob Geldof revealed he had a phone call with Fuse ODG and offered the option of changing the lyrics.

But Fuse ODG responded that, "There was only so much that I could change. I can't control what other people are saying. This song has so many lines. I can't just change one line and then think the song is okay. I didn't agree with most of the lines in the song."

A large part of Fuse ODG's musical persona has been passion for Africa and Africans.

The controversial song available for download since Monday morning (November 17) is already No. 1 in 48 countries. According to BBC, latest figures show it's already the fastest selling single of 2014 with more than 206,000 copies being bought in the UK alone.

Lyrics Of  controversial Band Aid's – Do They Know It's Christmas son

It's Christmastime; there's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime

But say a prayer to pray for the other ones
At Christmastime
It's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears

And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime

The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Oh, where nothing ever grows, no rain or rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Here's to you, raise a glass for ev'ryone
Here's to them, underneath that burning sun
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?

Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world

Let them know it's Christmastime again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmastime again

Vincent Enyeama has distinguished himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the history of African football, just last season Vincent Enyeama became the first African goalkeeper to claim the best African player in France as a result of his superb performance for his club Lille in the French Lique 1.

Since making is senior debut for Nigeria against Kenya in 2002 and following up with a scintillating performance against England at the 2002 Fifa world cup, the Akwa Ibomite shot stopper has been ever present for both club and country.

The former Enyimba Fc of Aba save hand is not only a superb goal Keeper but a proven converter of penalty kicks, the fact that he has converted 20 penalties in the course of his career for Ibom stars, Enyimba and Hapoel tel aviv of Israel is a testimony to that assertion and despite being substituted for Dele Aiyenugba when games are stretched to penalty shootouts in his Enyimba days but his heroic against Tunisia in the Quarter finals of Egypt 2006 cup of Nations showed that he could also handle penalty duties.
The goal keeping legend had this to say about that feat in 2006..."I don't know why I was substituted before penalties, but it worked. In Israel I stopped many penalties and now everyone knows that I can handle penalties."

One of the criteria for sporting an outstanding footballer is consistency and Vincent Enyeama has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he belongs to that class of elite professionals in the game.
Starting his career with Ibom stars, the goalkeeper can boost of three premier league winners medals, two Confederation of Africa(CAF) champions League winners medals, two Israel premier league winners medals, two Israeli State Cup medals, three African cup of Nations Medals and also Captained his country Nigeria to claim the Afcon 2013 winners medal.

Surprising even on a personal note, in the world of soccer where forwards and mid-fielders take home the accolades for the overall teams performances, the goalkeeper nicknamed "Enyeama saving account" with some sections of religious fans of the super Eagles of Nigeria claiming that he can "save a relationship" because of his outstanding and devoted service for Nigeria can also boost of being named CAF champions League player of the year 2004, Israel Footballer of the year 2009, UNFP player of the Month October and November 2013 and becoming the First Goalkeeper to win the Marc Vivien Foe Award in France.

If the performance of a player is the criteria for picking the best in the continent, the mouth watering performances that Vincent Enyeama showed French Lique 1 followers in the 2013/14 Lique 1 season and considering the fact that no goalkeeper in the whole of Europe kept more clean sheets(28) than the save hand last season and his performance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria should be enough to hand the Shot stopper the prestigious honour and finally rewarding goalkeepers for their contributions on the field of play.

BlackBox Nigeria appreciates the fact that finally a goalkeeper, in person of Legendary Super Eagles Of Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been short-listed among the top three contenders for the BBC African footballer of the year 2014 and he also made the 23-man short-list for the 2014 CAF footballer of the year award to be held in Lagos,Nigeria. We however appeal to the power shakers of African Football that the nomination is a welcomed development but Picking up the Prestigious award is the way forward for our football.

Terrorist group Boko Haram has been classified as the fourth most dangerous in the world according to statistics released by the Australia and US-based Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).

Nigeria, where the sect operates, now occupies the 4 position on the Global Terrorism Index preceded only by Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to the statistics, two thirds of the terrorist attacks carried out in the world occurred in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria.

These attacks were carried out by only four militant groups; Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, (ISIS) also known as ISIL,  the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban, transnational al-Qaeda affiliated networks and Boko Haram.

"There is no doubt it is a growing problem. The causes are complex but the four groups responsible for most of the deaths all have their roots in fundamentalist Islam," IEP founder Steve Killelea said.

"I can't Marry A Fellow Entertainer".... Chidinma Responds To Flavour Dating Rumours

No comments :

Several rumours have bee peddled in the past about the first female to win the prestigious Project Fame music reality show with many saying she once had an affair with crooner, Flavour. A purported sex tape involving the singer was even released online which has since been proven to be false.

Petite Nigerian music star, Chidinma Ekile, is popular for her music and her girl next door features that has given her the eye candy status in the music industry.

The 'Oh Baby' singer opened up on issues concerning her relationship and reaction to being loved by many male counterparts when she recently interviewed by The Nations

How do you cope with the attention you get from your male admirers?
"I think I've been able to manage it well because I just make sure that the person and I are on the same page. There's usually an understanding and a boundary, so no one will feel bad or have a feeling of entitlement. We all understand that it doesn't pass this level. They're all my friends and that's good enough".
When Miss Kedike was asked if she would consider marrying someone in the entertainment industry, this is what she had to say.
"No, I don't think so. Personally, I wouldn't want to, except God has another plan for me. Some people might disagree with me on this one, but I just feel that after the madness in the industry, I just want to go back home to sanity. You'll just want to go back to being cool and having your peace, rather than going back to someone who's also in that same madness".

I was talking to someone and the person said: "Chidinma, I don't agree with you because I think the person will understand you and understand that this is what you do." But I still don't think I want to do that. "

Lord of Ajasa is no doubt the pioneer of indigenous rap in Nigeria. He suddenly went underground for a while and most peeps have been wondering where he has been.

In a recent interview with Nigezie he bears it all.

When asked why he left the industry, he said
" I really didn't leave the industry, I was actually doing other stuff apart from the music thing. You know as a grown up man, a family man, I need to have another business apart from music. Do you know my age? Is it because of my small stature? I ve other things to take care of and I just can't be putting everything into music."
When asked if the arrival of Olamide sent him packing, he laughed out so loud and said

" I didn't leave the industry for anybody, E o mo eniti e n ba soro ni? ( Don't you know who you talking to? ). You talking to the Lord of Ajasa. I didn't leave the industry for anybody. I cannot, it is just not possible. You people didn't know the story of me and Olamide, it is a very long story I won't lie to you people. Olamide is my SON, Omo mi loje. Ask him, he knows.

He also claimed he is the first artist who produced Olamide way back then in his small studio at Bariga. He said‎
"E lo bere lowo Olamide ( Go ask Olamide ). I am the first artist who produced him. You know I used to produce in my room back in the days in Bariga when we had nothing"
He further said he is hating the indigenous rap game and not the players and he only needs to be recognised as the pioneer of the indigenous rap.

"He said I know lots of peeps rapping with yoruba language and when they blow they link it back to me , saying Ajasa created this thing"

He further said the industry isn't talking about it that he is the pioneer of the indigenous rap but he is happy that the street is talking about it and he is very proud of that and he needs some respect and recognition.

Wife of juju maestro, King Sunny Ade and fashion icon, Queen Ahneva Adeniyi- Adegeye has revealed that African men are naturally born to love more than one woman. The woman born Ahneva Hilson, who got married to King Sunny Ade in 1984, argued that no African man has one wife, arguing that most men have a wife, a mistress and a concubine.

The Los Angeles born graduate of Fashion Design from the Art Institute of Chicago disclosed in an interview with a leading magazine, that African men love to spread love across and to have more than one woman they love.

"Once you see any man, you see polygamy. No African man has one wife. I don't care if he's an indigenous African American or African Caribbean, it's in their nature to spread love across and to have more than one woman they love. Polygamy only puts a stamp on it to make legal. Most men have a wife, a mistress and a concubine. So, in a way, polygamy is every where in Africa and all over the world."
