Another Military Surveillance Helicopter Crashes In Adamawa

A Nigerian military helicopter on surveillance mission has crashed in Damare, a suburb of Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
A resident, Jamilu Inuwa, said he saw the chopper go down.

"The helicopter crashed in Damare," he said. "I don't know if it is a military plane or not." he said.
A Yola-based journalist however said he had it on good authority that the helicopter was on surveillance mission and was carrying arms and ammunition.
He said he was further told that there were some foreigners aboard.
"Immediately after the crash, soldiers were drafted to the scene to cordon off the scene," the journalist told PREMIUM TIMES.
Mr. Inuwa also said the scene of the crash is not far from the temporary camp of the National Youth Service Corps which is serving as a base for the internally displaced persons [IDPs] in the state.
The spokesperson of the Defence headquarters, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, could not be reached for comments just as the spokesperson of the Nigerian Air Force, Dele Alonge. They did not answer or return calls
News of the helicopter crash came about two months after a Nigerian Air Force fighter jet, went missing during routine operations in the northern part of Adamawa State.
The Nigerian Air Force aircraft went missing on September 12.
The aircraft, an Alpha Jet (NAF 466) was involved in the counter insurgency operation against the extremist Boko Haram sect.
The whereabouts of the missing Alpha Jet had become a subject of conjectures following the inability of the Nigeria Air Force to tell Nigerians what actually happened to the fighter jet.
Boko Haram insurgents later claimed shooting the aircraft down in a video in which they appeared to slaughter one of the pilots of the missing Alpha Jet.
But last week, local fishermen claimed they found wreckages of the jet which disappeared on September 12, in the River Benue.
The fishermen said they found the aircraft at Kwa Ine Village, Demsa Local Government, Adamawa State about 50 kilometers away from Yola, the state capital.

Independent National Electoral Commission has denied accusations in some
quarters that it is plotting to favor the Peoples Democratic Party at the upcoming 2015 elections.In a statement forwarded to BlackBox Nigeria's Correspondent in Abuja by the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, the commission disclosed that it is committed to issuing the Permanent Voters Card to all registered voter.
INEC further said that it is working to resolve the “temporary challenges” witnessed during the last distribution of PVC in some of the nine states of the federation.
The statement also said INEC has made provision for eligible persons for whom PVCs could not be printed due to data loss or defective data to come out from Wednesday, November 12 to Monday, November 17, for their data to be recaptured during the Continuous Voters Registration.
Secondary School Boys Nabbed For Gay Acts In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two teenage boys, Gideon Harrison and Ifeanyi Ezeorji, for allegedly having s*x with each other in the Ikotun area of Lagos.
Punch Metro learnt that while Harrison is 19 years old, Ezeorji is just 14. Our correspondent gathered that the two boys were arrested on October 23 by the Ikotun Police Division. According to the police, Harrison and Ezeorji had s*x with each other through the anus, an act known as sodomy.
Our correspondent also gathered that while Ezeorji was a Senior Secondary School pupil 1 in Igando High School, Ikotun Road, Harrison had finished secondary school education.
Punch Metro learnt that the complainant, one Toheeb Adekunle, who stays on Muka Street, Ijegun Road and works inside the Ikotun Motor Park, caught the two boys in the act, and reported the matter to the police. Adekunle was said to have told the police that Harrison had the habit of sleeping with boys in the area.
When our correspondent visited the area on Friday, a police source said the two boys had been taken to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba, adding that they would be charged to court soon.
At Ezeorji's family apartment on Oladunjoye Street, Ikotun, his mother, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeorji, told Punch Metro that her son was a responsible boy who would never indulge in such an act. She added that he is still a virgin.
She said, "My son is just 14 years old. He does not do such things. He is not even mature yet. He takes his bath outside, some times in the presence of his sisters to tell you that he is young. His father had died in September this year, and we are yet to bury him. The family is still grieving him. All I know is that there is no truth in the allegation.
"I don't know about the other man. I have not even met him. On the day of the alleged incident, my son had strolled to the motor park, and there was a street fight. My son then told me later on that he was simply watching the fight, and he had been arrested by the police."
When our correspondent visited Adekunle's house address on Ijegun Road, his neighbours said he was no longer living in the place as he had moved to an unknown place in Ikotun. All efforts to also locate Harrison's house or his family for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

He said, "Yes, they were arrested by the Ikotun Police Division, and they have been charged to court. In law, this offence is called sodomy, and it carries with it about seven to 14 years imprisonment if found guilty, going by an Act of the National Assembly.
"You know, it is even against culture and religion. The Christian, Islamic and even the traditional religions condemn this in its entirety. So, the case has been taken to court."

A fresh bomb blast in Potiskum this morning has been reported to have killed more than 30 students in Potiskum, Yobe state.
The bomb went off when students of the Government Senior Science Potiskum, Potiskum Local Government area of the state gathered for their morning assembly. Many of the students were seriously injured.
A teacher from the school told Daily Trust he counted more than 30 corpses.
"Over thirty corpses are lying in pool of their blood and we are now moving the injured to hospital for medical attention," the teacher who didn’t volunteer his name said.
The Yobe state commissioner of Police Markus Danladi confirmed the incident to Daily Trust in a telephone chat. He said he was on his way to the scene of the blast. He could not confirm the number of casualties.
A student who escaped by the whisker told Daily Trust that the mastermind of the blast came into the school compound with a bag and detonated the explosive in the midst of students.
Only last week, a suicide bomber killed more than 20 members of the Shiite sect in Potiskum during their religious procession, injuring many more.

Unknown abductors sunday evening kidnapped Sani Ribadu, younger brother of former EFCC boss and Adamawa gubernatorial hopeful Nuhu Ribadu.
Sani Ribadu was kidnapped around 5pm on sunday at his farm along Fufore Road in Yola, Adamawa state capital.

Tragedy struck sunday night as internationally acclaimed preacher and motivational speaker, Myles Munroe perished in a plane crash at the Bahamas in a private plane crash.
Munroe was in company of his wife; Ruth and their daughter and several other senior members of his church who are now all feared dead.
The team was headed for Global Leadership Forum organized by Munroe's ministry when the incident occurred. Nine people was initially confirmed to be aboard the plane with no survivors.
Born in Nassau, Bahamas; Dr. Myles Munroe is the founder of the Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI) and Myles Munroe International (MMI)-a leadership resource centre. A pastor, teacher, administrator, author, a father, a husband and motivational speaker; Dr. Munroe has traveled the world preaching the gospel and giving motivational talks.
He last visited Nigeria in February 2013 where he traveled across different cities speaking to people about leadership and change. He had earlier visited in 2010.
