Manchester United eventually got the job done
with a patient, if not spectacular,
display. They move eight points clear of
Liverpool and should now be assured of
Champions League football.

They were not at the same level as during their
victories over Tottenham and Brendan Rodgers's side but they did enough to see off a disciplined Aston Villa.

Manchester United put eight points between themselves and Liverpool as they saw off Aston Villa 3-1 on Saturday, Ander Herrera scoring twice.

Their top-four ambitions boosted by Arsenal's win against the Reds earlier in the day, the Red Devils consolidated their position with a largely comfortable victory at Old Trafford.

Herrera will take the plaudits for his two goals and his performances continue to leave many questioning why he was not given more chances in the first half of the season but, if
United can maintain their current form for the
remainder of the season, few will remember such choices by Louis van Gaal. He has finally worked out this team and is reaping the rewards.

A nun identified as Rev. Sister Ludovita, 30 stabbed a schoolboy in the hand with a needle to show him how Jesus suffered.

The nun had been teaching at a school in the town of Kysucke Nove Mesto in northern Slovakia when she told unsuspecting pupil Adam Celko, 7, to come to the front of the class.‎
She then took a needle out of her handbag and rammed it into the boy's hand in front of the horrified class, telling him that this was how Jesus suffered – and he would too if he behaved badly.

The boy's outraged mum Helena, 30, said: "When Adam got home he had a wound on the back of his hand and when I asked him what had happened he told me the nun had done it.
"I was completely shocked. I mean, what on earth was she thinking?

Local priest Peter Holbicka said: "The Sister in question has been removed from the school and I shall be taking the matter up with her personally."

The Blues are the only side in English football's top four divisions with an unbeaten home record and despite still having to face Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool in their remaining eight fixtures, they will hope to collect enough points to reclaim the crown for the first time since 2010.

It was a game that involved 5 goals as Arsenal dealt Liverpool 's hopes of a top-four finish a savage blow as a whirlwind of goals shortly before half-time set them up for a 4-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

In a match in which the Reds often looked too cautious and unable to take control, Gunners right-back Hector Bellerin took advantage of slack defending from Alberto Moreno to put the hosts in front.

A free kick from Mesut Ozil compounded the Reds' troubles just three minutes later and Alexis Sanchez's powerful finish to a slick
team move moments before the break left Liverpool crippled.

The visitors got one back in the second half when Jordan Henderson scored from the penalty spot, Raheem Sterling having been brought down by Bellerin, but they could not push on to save the match.

Indications emerged on Friday that the Presidency has begun a probe of the leakage of the telephone conversation between President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Tues­day March 31st.
President Jonathan had at 5.15 pm, called Buhari, winner of last Saturday's presidential polls on the plat­form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to concede defeat and congratulate him.

However, two days after the call, an audio file of the conversation found its way to the public domain in what a presidency source described as serious security breach.
The source, who pleaded anonymity while confirming the probe, said the action has caused the seat of power serious em­barrassment.
The source explained that the probe is to ascertain whether the recording was leaked from the presidency or was made public from Buhari's camp.‎

It was further disclosed that should it be con­firmed that it was leaked from the presidency, those found culpable will face appropriate sanction
"Definitely, unauthorised release of a raw recording of the president's telephone conversation, if from our (Presidency's) end is a se­curity breach that cannot go without being investigated", the source said.

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU) chapter, Dr. Adekunle Idris has accused the institution's management of planning to attack him with cultists.
Idris, who is at the forefront of calls that Professor John Obafunwa be replaced as Vice Chancellor of the institution.
He told Daily Independent that the LASU management and a former ASUU-LASU Treasurer suspended for anti-union activities, Dr. Tajudeen Abayomi Olumoko , are after him.
"The news of my planned attack is all over the campus," Idris said.
"Several staff called me to be careful of my movement and that the university management and Dr. Olumoko are planning to use cult guys to attack me."
He said the threat has forced him to flee for his life.
"So, I have taken the advice of my family, colleagues and friend, I have gone into hiding for now."
But Dr Olumoko has since denied the allegations in a telephone interview with Daily Independent , saying the ASUU boss' accusation is mere 'character assassination.
"It is pure character assassination. It is funny. It is not possible; management cannot use me for that. I know what is good," he said.
"I am a PhD holder of long standing, the management cannot use me for that purpose.
The alleged planned attack, if true, could be related to his campaign against Obafunwa which is supported by ASUU, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff of Universities (NASU).
Already, the crisis has caused the indefinite postponement of the institution's 20th convocation ceremony and the shutdown of the institution without a resumption date.

It will be recalled that the national leadership of the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), through its Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, said Professor John Obafunwa, caused the crisis that is threatening his position at the helms of affairs » of the institution.
"The issues in LASU were caused by the VC who believes that he knows and can do everything on his own," Aremu had said.
"The VC is governing that university with impunity.
"We had approached him before it got to this level and we had tried to talk to him and make him see reasons that in a university, there are due processes that one has to follow.
In mid-March, workers pelted Obafunwa out of the
institution » with 'pure water' sachets and demanded an acting VC from Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state and fierce critic of Muhammadu Buhari during the electioneering period, has expressed optimism that the president-elect would obey the rule of law.‎
Reacting to the impeachment moves against him by lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fayose, who was the first PDP official to congratulate Buhari for his victory, said those lawmakers trying to oust him were only advertising their ignorance and crudity in the market place.
"The script being acted by the APC is a failed one because no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to test the will of Ekiti people," read a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Fayose's special assistant on public communication and new media.
"The speaker of Ekiti house of assembly is Hon Dele Olugbemi and not Dr Adewale Omirin.
"Since last year November, these so-called lawmakers abdicated their duties and ran to Lagos only for them to resurface on Wednesday, but they hurriedly ran away again.
"Now they are posting notice of impeachment signed on March 9, 2015 and Ekiti people are asking; was the motion for impeachment moved and adopted in Lagos or Osun state house of assembly? Is impeachment of a governor done along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway inside a moving bus?
"Rather than going about advertising their ignorance and crudity, the APC lawmakers should wait for the court to adjudicate on the case they filed because even the president-elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), will respect the rule of law when he assumes office."

The assembly had been involved in crisis since October when Ayodele Fayose, the governor, assumed office.

However, the crisis reached its height when PDP members with minority number impeached Omirin as speaker under controversial circumstances.
Their APC colleagues responded by suspending the seven PDP lawmakers and resolved to relocate the sitting of the house to the premises of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), alleging that the assembly complex was no longer safe for legislative activities because it had been taken over by thugs.
But Fayose has acknowledged the action of the PDP lawmakers, and continues to insist that Omirin is no longer speaker.

The Nigerian military has ordered the release of two Aljazeera journalists who have been detained in Maiduguri, Borno for over a week after being accused of "loitering" around areas of military operations.

PremiumTimes reports that the journalists, Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustapha were released in the early hours of Saturday after spending ten days in detention in their hotel room.
Spokesperson of the DHQ, Chris Olukolade had in a statement said the duo were moving around "restricted areas" in Yobe and Borno states without protection, accreditation or clearance.

However, the Journalists had sued the Nigerian Army challenging their detention, through Nigerin humman rights lawyers, Femi Falana, who sought a declaration that the arrest and detention by the military was illegal and unconstitutional, thereby violating their right to personal liberty guaranteed by Section 34, 35 and 41 of the constitution and Article 5, 6 and 12 of the African Charter on Human and peoples' Right Act.

Falana also sought an order directing the Nigerian military and the army chief, Kenneth Minimah, to release the journalists from illegal military custody immediately.
It is not clear if their decision to approach the court was responsible for their release.

All efforts to speak with a representative of Aljazeera network and Ahmed Idris were unsuccessful as calls were neither answered, nor returned at the time of publishing this story.

The 19 All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have begun moves to commence impeachment proceedings against Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The embattled Speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, has forwarded a notice of gross misconduct to the governor.‎
According to sources within the APC, the notice was served on Fayose during the week.
A copy of the notice was also sent to his deputy, Dr. Olusola Eleka.

But Fayose while reacting to the notice advised the APC lawmakers to stop acting like "jesters."
He also described the said impeachment notice as the "joke of the century."

Fayose explained that the script being acted by the APC is a failed one because no one, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to test the will of the Ekiti people.
Also, the factional Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Dele Olugbemi, has dismissed the purported notice of impeachment and accused Omirin of "forgery, impersonation and attempt to cause breach of public peace."

In the letter by the 19 APC lawmakers titled, "Re: Notice of Allegations of Gross Misconduct," sent to Fayose, the APC lawmakers listed eight impeachable offences against the governor.
These offences bordered on impunity, brigandage, stalking and other constitutional breaches.
They include the alleged invasion of the House of Assembly with thugs and miscreants, instigating an unconstitutional takeover of the House by seven legislators to sit in contravention of Section 96(2) of the 1999 Constitution, prevention of the 19 APC legislators from performing their duties with the use of security agents and armed thugs, sponsoring an unlawful impeachment process in the house, spending Ekiti State funds without the requisite constitutional approval in contravention of the constitution and running the government without legally constituted Executive Council in contravention of Section 192(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Terror sect, Boko Haram, killed five persons on Saturday in Kayamla in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.‎
Though, the insurgents were pushed back by the youth vigilance group in the area, but this was after they had destroyed parts of the village and killed five persons.
A member of the youth vigilance group in the area, Abbagana Modu, told our correspondent on the telephone that the insurgents caught everyone unaware.
He said, "They came stealthily into the village and shot sporadically into the air, torched some houses and killed five persons."
He said when the youths regrouped to take them on, they fled back into the bushes.
Modu recalled that though it had been longed since the area was attacked, the insurgents had in the past laid siege to Kayamla.

This would be the first notable attack on Borno after last week Saturday's presidential election.

The Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested two principal suspects in connection with the murder of a Divisional Police Officer in the Adekile, Orita Aperin area of Ibadan, the state capital.

Violence erupted in the area on Wednesday, when residents claimed to have uncovered a kidnappers' den and decide to set the identified buildings ablaze.
The DPO, who reportedly came from the Agugu Police Division with his officers to restore normalcy, was allegedly wounded by rampaging thugs in the area and died shortly after.

Our correspondent, who visited the area on Thursday, had observed how hundreds of youths gathered at the uncompleted buildings, which had an underground section, to loot and raze them.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adekunle Ajisebutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said on Saturday that two suspects had been arrested over the murder, while the Police had kept patrol in the area to ensure normalcy.
He said, "We have arrested two principal suspects in connection with the incident. Some other arrests are ongoing. A high-powered team has also been set up by the Commissioner of Police to investigate the incident. The death of our DPO is confirmed.
"The command has beefed up security in the area to forestall any breakdown of law and order. We are still patrolling the area and normalcy has been restored."

The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Katsina, had visited the scene of the incident on Thursday to assess the extent of damage done by the hoodlums.
