Another Look At The Mohits Saga •What They Represented •What Nigeria Misses About Them...

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
It's been over three years since music fans in the country and perhaps the entire continent got overwhelmed by the disintegration of one of the biggest music alliances Africa has ever seen. The break up of music power house Mo'Hits, founded by Michael Collins Ajereh (Don Jazzy) and Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo (Dbanj) remains in the news years after the major players have moved on. This was proven months ago after Dbanj sat on 'The Truth' with Olisa Adibua where he revealed that Dr. Sid was responsible for the break up. This assertion elicited responses from Dr. Sid and his Mavin label mate; D'Prince who expressed surprise.
The Mohits Saga which began as arumoured brawl of ego and bad blood would later be revealed to be about ambitions and personal dreams as revealed by Dbanj in an exclusive interview with NET at the thick of the brouhaha.
Nigerian music fans most definitely miss the duo of Don Jazzy and Dbanj. Apart from the beautiful music they made together, fans also miss the drama they were both known for at social gatherings and interviews where the Don was the "never speaking boss" and Dbanj; the ever active outgoing side kick who relates what the Don whispers to him. These act really worked for Nigerians and perhaps remain one of the things we all miss most about them.
Apart from this, Nigerians have missed certain things which we might however never have the opportunity to bring to reality.
•Best Men For Their Marriages
Both Dbanj and Don Jazzy are in their mid-30s and it is expected that marriage bells would start ringing soon. No doubt, if everything went on smoothly and the duo were still together, fans might have been blessed to see both bosses act as Best Men at their different weddings which inadvertently might however never come to pass. Infact we might have been blessed to have a joint wedding which even Psquare failed to give us. If the same day wedding was asking for too much, fans would at least have been blessed with a 'best man' role by the duo for themselves. These role most definitely would now be passed to younger brothers; D'Prince (Don Jazzy) and K-switch(Dbanj).
•Lacklustre 10 Years Anniversary
Despite all the hype and noise made by organisers which made the 10 years anniversary of Dbanj one of the most anticipated events in recent times, the ceremony is still regarded as a huge flop. While many would blame all sort of reasons including Wiz Khalifa's ex-Wife for this, it is obvious a better, well packaged event could have been witnessed had the power brace of Don Jazzy and Dbanj been together. They started together 10 years ago and so a decade anniversary of Mohits (not just Dbanj) would have had the entire continent stand still. Unfortunately this never happened...
•Losing A Selling Brand
Despite perceived or acclaimed successes of both camps at present, it is apparent fans and prospective business partners would have preferred if the duo were still a team. Although, nobody has proven this but it is expected that certain brands would have withdrew their ventures with the duo since they could no longer get the "complete package" they expected. This directly means the duo would probably had made more money if they remained a duo but unfortunately they are no longer together. It can also be assumed that if a Mo'hits break up never occurred, then the unceremonious departure of singer Wande Coal from Don Jazzy's camp (Mavin) might have never happened. This is putting into consideration the Black Diamond's now broken loyalty after the Mo'hits break up.
•Ofcourse More Hits
Between them, Dbanj and Don Jazzy made more hits than fans could savour. This is definitely what we would miss most about them. Somebody once said Dbanj being on the hit track 'Dorobucci' would have made the jam even more infectious. Imagine a duet between Dbanj and Tiwa Savage with Don Jazzy ad libs on the background. How much we miss this team.
It has been three years since the break-up but the Mo'hits saga remains an interesting case study for observers as well as a learning precept for emerging teams and people trying to grow winning brands with "friends". Whether a Mo'Hits reunion would be possible remains open with many hoping it does occur. This wish is further expected especially after we have seen a reunion from former band mates; Plantainshun Boiz (2Face, Black Face & Faze) as well as a planned come back by popular group; Remedies (Eedriz Abdulkareem, Tony Tetuila and Eddy Remedy) who are some of the pioneers of Nigeria's contemporary Afro-hip hop genre.

It was indeed a messy situation when a Honorable member of the State house of assembly was disgraced and suspended over his uncontrollable desire for the cleavages of women.
The man as the center of the ugly situation is the Majority Leader of the Zamfara State assembly, Alhaji Salisu Musa Tsafe, who was recently impeached following his involvement in a fight with the state governor's driver, over a lady, in the public.
According to investigation carried out by the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Isah Abdul-Mumuni, the House invited the two fighters to testify, including other witnesses. It was from their findings that the committee established the fact that both the lawmaker and the governor's driver fought over the lady in question.
Passing out the final judgement,  committee which described the incident as embarrassing not just to their persons but the entire state, recommended that, Salisu Musa Tsafe be impeached as the House Majority Leader and also be suspended from the business of the state legislation till the end of this legislative period.
They further recommended that the governor's senior driver, Malam Idris, be replaced with another person, even as it declared that henceforth, any person who would become a driver to the state governor, his deputy, state Chief Judge and all other important government functionaries in the state, must undergo security screening to avert such embarrassing moment

Aero Contractors Oshi(How I Was Maltreated By Aero Contractors Staff)

Me I had sworn that no matter how badly treated I was by a Nigerian Airline I won't say anything. I will just be quiet and watch them disgrace themselves. So for years, I have been very silent with the rubbish they have been meting out on not only me but millions of Nigerians who unfortunately have to use them. From delayed flights, to outright cancellation. From bumpy rides in rickety planes that have seen me peeing on myself and screeming Jesusssssssss, to smelly air hostess with dirty armpits who behave as if they are the best things since slice bread , in all these I have kept my peace and not said anything. I did not even talk when the whole Arik crew descended on my friend the Amiable Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and beat him silly simply because he asked why his seat was given out, I didn't whimper o. Maybe that is why, today they brought the fight to me. Me,Ajanaku, the Elephant, Aero people try me today. It all started when I got a text last night as usual postponing my morning flight in Abuja from 8.45am to 11.00am. The fact that I had an 11.0clock appointment that I had been chasing for years did not make me talk, the fact that the client had flown in from America and would be early for the meeting after flying for over 13 hours and me who had just 55minutes to fly would be late did not make me talk. So I took it all in my stride and slept off.
In the morning, I took my time and jumped into traffic and the usual Lagos traffic killed me. I arrived at their counter at exactly 10.30 for the flight and one very dirty Aero staff screamed at me with spittle gushing out of her mouth like a volcano erupting and throwing ash everywhere, ' we have closed the counter' she screamed turning her back and showing me a split in her skirts. I smiled believing that this is NIGERIA and this is Ajanaku that I will surmount this challenge. I called out at her and in my smoothest Don Jazzy voice, I pleaded for help. She was livid, looked at me sternly and asked if I did not understand English, that it was over and gleefully told me that the next flight was for 5 o'clock in the evening.
At this time, my cool evaporated and I started begging. I pleaded as if my life depended on it and at this point about 6 of their lowliest paid staff, all with different kinds of body stench descended on me and telling me categorically that I had to leave and come back by 5pm. I begged and begged and begged all to no avail. I even told them that we all voted APC and that the change had come that they should please temper Justice with mercy. This served to only anger them the more as they immediately started mocking me and laughing at me. Guys, the most painful thing in all these, was the fact that they were still checking in other passengers o. Those with huge and plenty luggages where being given VIP treatment while me in all my Gucci Shoes and trousers was left stranded and being advised to either go to another airline the or should start trekking like all these people trekking for Buhari.
At this point someone in authority strolled in and decided to assist and then I knew what my sin was. He asked them to open the system to see if there was more seats, he stared at the system like the tyrant he was, with the power of life and death. He sent a signal to the Pilot, not to dare move that plane until he decided what to do and after staring at the system for what seemed like an eternity gave judgement, I should be upgraded to first class. I thanked him and prayed that God should bless his mistress and that his wife will never catch him, but as he was walking away, his leprous colleagues called him back and told him that I had complained about being delayed for four hours on my last trip and as such I did not see any reason why I could not board after just being late for 30 minutes.
My people, Emperor turned with all the dignity he could muster and gave instant judgement, no more seats and that was final. I stood there looking like a class clown. I could not believe this was happening to me. The circus midgets all immediately burst into imbecilic laughter and stuck out their tongues at me.
Out of frustration, I left them and went to the medview counter, where the Angels there gave me a seat on their 12 noon flight. I thanked them and paid but decided to go back to Aero counter to vent. My people, I for Kuku just go my way o. Na police dey wait for me o. The goons had called Police for me and you know police, na who first report na him get case. The bleached police man demanded for my phone and asked to go through my picture gallery that I had taken pictures of the Aero staff.
That's how the man went through my phone, enjoyed himself with all the - you know the kind picture that will be there na- took his time and decided which ones he will delete and which ones he will keep and in all these the minions where still laughing and still checked people into a flight they had said was full an hour ago.
I thank God for the NCAA people who came to my assistance. Took me to their office took my complaints and calmed me down. They said they had been receiving series of complaints from harassed and humiliated passengers and will certainly do something this time.
So my people, Aero used to be my favorite airline, but with this kind of harassment and being treated like a thief I have left them and taken my wahala somewherelse. You can be sure, I will not miss their shitty service, I will not miss their cheap onboard flight, I will not miss the unpredictability of their services, I I'll not miss their rickety planes, I will not miss having to 'settle' their poorly paid and under trained staff and I will certainly won't have to kneel down and beg to be boarded simply because I mistakenly mentioned that if they could delay me for four hours, they should be a little bit more tolerant with my 30minute lateness, even though the flight was still on ground and checking in was still ongoing.
As I write, I am headed to the Airport with my heart in my mouth. One of the goons had threatened to cancel my return ticket and that I will never fly Aero. I asked him if his father was Ibru that he should try it. My people maybe I should join the Trekkers.
Aero Oshi.

Driver R»pes 15-Year Old Nursing Mother In Lagos

No comments :

When 15-year-old Loveth (not real name) started living as a maid with one Madam Elizabeth, the expectations of her parents was for her to have a fresh start in life. For a teenage mother who had gone through a lot in the last few months, living with a guardian at No. 18, Ogo-Oluwa Street, off Sabo Bus-Stop, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, was not only a dream come true, but a second chance to put the broken pieces of her life together.‎
But the desire to have a fresh start seems to be vanishing into thin air as the unexpected happened recently, when her guardian's driver, Nelson Eke, allegedly tied her up and raped her after her madam went to church.

Crime Alert learnt that on that fateful day, her guardian reportedly went to church by public transport after her driver claimed that the car had suddenly developed a fault, without anyone suspecting he had an ulterior motive. The woman gave the driver N6,000 with which to repair the car before leaving for church and asked him to bring it to church after fixing it.
Immediately madam left the house, instead of taking the vehicle to the mechanic, he came inside and asked the victim to give him drinking water, which she did before he allegedly tied her and raped her, after which he took the car to the mechanic for repairs.
A family source told Crime Alert, "At about 8am when Loveth was taking breakfast downstairs after madam left the house for church, Uncle Nelson (madam's driver) requested for drinking water.
She reportedly left her food, went upstairs to get him water. After giving him water, she came back to the kitchen downstairs, carried her food to the dining area to continue eating when Nelson came inside and poured engine oil into her cup of tea and asked her to drink it.
"Initially, she refused to drink it but he pushed the chair where she was sitting down and she fell, hitting her head on the floor. He then poured the tea into her mouth forcefully. As she struggled to run, she fell down. He then used his shoe to press her hand down to the ground. When she tried shouting, he used her wrapper to cover her mouth, tied the other hand as well and raped her."
It was gathered that while she was struggling to loosen herself, one of the dining chairs fell on her chest. She was there till her madam came back at about 2pm.

The family source lamented the fate that befell Loveth: "For goodness sake, Loveth is a nursing mother trying to make amends for her past mistake only for this man to rape her. She works as a maid for her madam who takes good care of her and her baby."
It was further gathered that when her madam returned from church, she saw the victim upstairs, tied down and eventually reported the case to the police. The victim was also taken to the hospital where tests were carried out.
Although the suspect, Nelson, agreed to have had carnal knowledge of her, he denied using her wrapper to tie her up. The case is still being investigated by men of the State CID, Panti, in Lagos.

Chibok Girls Being Kept In Bunkers

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Borno State governor, Kassim Shettima, said yesterday that there was every tendency that the female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, abducted by members of the Boko Haram sect, in April 2014, were being held in bunkers, inside Sambisa Forest.
To this end, he has asked the military, which is currently combing the forest not only to fish out members of the sect but to also liberate the over 200 girls.
Shettima, spoke in Abuja, while presenting a paper at a two-day post election conference on security and governance, organized by the Savanna Centre, a Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, established by former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary, Borno Elders Forum, Dr Bulama Mala Gubio, said the sect, having operated in the large expanse of the forest for so many years unchallenged, were able to build a bunker, large enough to accommodate many people in the area.
He said, "We are suspecting that Chibok girls are living with the insurgents in bunkers, I think the military must carry out their operations beyond the surface earth. They (Boko Haram) were also known to have dug tunnels to enable them move from house to house. So, having been left unchallenged for such a long time, such possibility cannot be ruled out which poses serious obstacles within the forest, "the governor added.
Speaking further, Shettima said: "The insurgents used their bases in the Sambisa Forest to launch deadly attacks and make quick retreat to their base which enabled them capture and take over control of all the local government areas bordering Nigeria with Cameroon, Chad and Niger, thus effectively cutting off the three neighbouring countries thereby declaring what they assumed was their independent territory (caliphate)."
The governor also said unless Sambisa Forest was completely and effectively rid of the terrorists by the military, any reconstruction and rehabilitation carried out in the North East region would turn out to be an exercise in futility.
"Unless and only if the Sambisa Forest is effectively recovered from the  terrorists shall we think of defeating the Boko Haram and begin to embark on a holistic approach for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the North East. In fact, at several stages the Borno State Government had intervened to reconstruct destroyed schools, health centres, homes, markets and so on, only for the insurgents to attack and destroy them again, "he noted.
The governor also disclosed that Boko Haram killed over 300,000 persons in the region, contrary to the 13,000 dead figure he said, was being bandied by the  media. He disclosed that Borno State alone, has so far lost over 70,000 people in the six-year old insurgency.
He attributed the success of the Boko Haram activities in the North East to what he called "the underfunding of the military".
Governor Shettima accused President Goodluck of abandoning the region to its fate, and instead, preferred to spend the money he would have spent on the maintenance of security in the area to frivolities, especially the entertainment industry.
Governor Shettima specifically said in spite of the insurgency that ravaged the North East for six years, all the president could do was to send a meager N200 million to Borno State for security, disclosing that the state government, on its own, spent N600 million out of its lean resources and allocations to maintain the same security.
"As a government, we have spent over N600 million but all we have received from the Federal Government is N200 million. The same Federal Government has spent over N2 billion as loan to dancers (entertainers)", he said
Shettima added that contrary to the claims of the military of successfully liberating the major parts of the North East, a large portion of the area was still being controlled by the insurgents.

Plot To Remove PDP Chairman Thickens As Fani-Kayode Joins Fayose, Others

The Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has insisted that the Adamu Mu'azu-led National Working Committee of the party must be sacked for the party to bounce back.

Fani-Kayode said this in an interview with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday.

He explained that because of the enormous respect he had for President Goodluck Jonathan, he was restraining himself from exposing the shady deals allegedly committed by some members of the NWC.

The director alleged that NWC members engaged in a series of acts of sabotage to undermine the campaign council.

Attempts to get a reaction from the party's National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, were unsuccessful.

Calls to his mobile telephone indicated that he was unavailable while a response to a text message sent to him was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.

When contacted, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abdullahi Jalo, referred our correspondent to Metuh.

Fani-Kayode said, "We need a new leadership that is open, kind, fair-minded and accommodating and in order to achieve that, I must add my voice to that of a number of governors and other key stakeholders and leaders in our party, who have said the party's National Working Committee must go.

"Sadly the NWC has become a cog in the wheel of progress. They (members) have much to learn from what the leadership of the Labour Party and the Liberal Democratic Party did in the U.K. just a couple of weeks ago when they resigned a few hours after losing the election to the conservatives.

"They resigned with honour and no one had to ask them to go or call for their resignation. They did the right and proper thing because they are well educated people, who have honour. Sadly, the NWC members lack both education and honour; otherwise, they would have resigned by now."

He said he was adding his voice to that of Governors Aliyu Babaginda, Sule Lamido, Ayodele Fayose and that of the overwhelming majority of governors, party leaders and elders, who are calling on Mu'azu and others NWC members to resign "if the PDP is serious about forging party unity, restoring its fortunes, redeeming itself and winning any election in 2019."

According to him, he has decided to keep the evidence of double dealing on the part of two prominent members of the NWC to himself in order not to rock the boat.

Not Again! Suicide Bomber Kills Nine In Adamawa

The fighters of the Boko Haram Islamic sect attacked Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Tuesday.
An intelligence source said on Tuesday that the attackers attempted to overpower a unit of soldiers without success around Barkin Dutse.
The source said that the insurgents were still involved in a gun duel with troops as of 2.20pm when our correspondent filed this report on Tuesday.
It was learnt that the soldiers had an upperhand against the insurgents while some troops were drafted to the Cameroonian side of the border to block it.
The source stated also that soldiers surrounded all the exit points to and outside Madagali to prevent the insurgents who invaded the area from fleeing.
"As we speak now, the Boko Haram members are attacking Madagali. They attempted to overpower a military unit at Barki Dutse area but the soldiers responded sharply to the attack.
"They have not been overpowered completely; they are still fighting but soldiers have been deployed to all the exit points from Madagali.
"Troops have also gone to block the Cameroonian side of the border to prevent them from escaping."
It was further gathered that a suicide bomber killed nine people at Garkida, in Gombi Local Government area of Adamawa State.
It was learnt that the suicide bomber detonated the Improvised Explosive Device at the Garkida Market when activities were picking up in the market on Tuesday.
It was further gathered that some members of a youth vigilante group apprehended another set of two suicide bombers who were caught with unexploded IEDs wired to their bodies.
The two terror suspects were said to have confessed that six of them were involved in the mission to unleash violence on the Garkida Market.
They were also said to have told their interrogators that the whereabouts of three of the suicide bombers was unknown while one died in the suicide attack on the market.
"A suicide bomber has killed nine people in Garkida Market today (Tuesday). You know today is the market day and the bomb went off when the people were selling their wares in the market.
"I can't say the exact time it happened but it was in the morning. Two of the suspects who had bombs strapped to their bodies were apprehended.
"The two who were arrested confessed that there were six suicide bombers who were sent to the market but three escaped and one died in the explosion."
Our correspondent could not get the Director Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, to comment on the story as calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect.
Also Olukolade did not respond to a text message on the issue as of the time of filing the report.
Meanwhile, the troops of the Nigerian Army said they have killed a large number of insurgents in an encounter with the terrorists' elements at a location in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Investigation revealed that the soldiers and the insurgents had a long-drawn battle on Saturday in a hilly hamlet between Paulka and Gwoza.
A security source who confided in our correspondent said that the troops of the 121 Special Forces battalion carried out the military action that culminated in the killing of over 50 of the insurgents.
It was learnt that the soldiers who were deployed in the hilly mountains of Gwoza close to the nation's border with Cameroon sighted a large number of the Boko Haram insurgents and engaged them in a gun duel.
The source said that the insurgents were moving out of the Sambisa Forest to get food items in a particular location when they were sighted and the gun battle ensued.
It was gathered that a soldier who was hit by the insurgents' bullets was quickly flown to Maiduguri for urgent medical attention.
The soldiers of the 121 Special Forces Battalion last week encountered many insurgents between Paulka and Gwoza. Several of the insurgents were killed in the attack.
"Our guys who were drafted to the top of the hills spotted the terrorists while they came out of their hideouts in the Sambisa Forest to look for food.
"They were not expecting the attack, so we got them seriously. One of the soldiers who sustained bullet wounds was immediately moved to Maiduguri for urgent medical action."
Our correspondent could not get Olukolade to comment on the development also as calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect.
He also had not responded to a text message on the issue as of the time of filing this story.
