Don't forget the pain caused by the June 12 annulment, it is still fresh in the mind of our people many died in the cause of June 12 struggle, many lost a lot of properties. I don't think our people will trust a Hausa/Fulani man from the north this time around."

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan recently while speaking at a rally in Nasarawa state set an age barrier for a possible successor if he wins re-election, saying that anyone above 57 years would not receive his support in 2019.‎

Jonathan said he wants to encourage youths in the Nigeria politics and give Nigeria to the youth for proper administration.

In his words, the president said:
"We want to encourage young people because the future belongs to them. We will not take leadership from you because you are the leaders of tomorrow. The director-general of my campaign organisation, Dr. Ahmadu Ali, has mentioned that my successor is going to be a younger person and that is what we will do.
''If you look at how we are going you will find out that what he said is true. Obasanjo was 70 when he was elected, the late President Yar'Adua was in his early 60s, I am about 60. So the PDP is grading down from Obasanjo to me.

Neymar netted twice for the visitors as Diego
Simeone's men lost their heads, with Gabi and Mario Suarez both getting sent off and Arda throwing his boot at a linesman

The match ended 4-2 on aggregate after a sensationally volatile encounter in the Spanish capital.

The Blaugrana arrived at the Vicente Calderon with a one-goal advantage from last week's first leg at Camp Nou but Fernando Torres levelled the tie on aggregate inside 60 seconds with a low finish, only for Neymar to respond in kind in the ninth minute.

Raul Garcia put Atletico back ahead on the night with a contentous penalty but Barca went in 3-2 ahead at the break thanks to an own
goal from Miranda and Neymar's second strike of the evening.

Gabi was then dismissed during angry scenes during the half-time interval that also saw Raul Garcia clash with the Barca bench, while Arda Turan then dramatically threw his boot at a linesman early in the second half.

All hope Atletico had of turning the tie around disappeared in the closing stages when Mario Suarez was sent off for a second bookable offence for dissent, thus bringing an end to an incredibly contentious and exciting encounter.

Turan was then lucky not to follow him early in the second half when he was only shown a yellow card having thrown his boot at the assistant after the the non-award of a foul.

Apprehend Asari, Tompolo, Boyloaf, Others -General T.Y Danjuma Charges Security Operatives

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

A former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, has demanded the immediate arrest of some former Niger Delta militants for threatening to plunge the country into war if President Goodluck Jonathan is not re-elected in the February 14 election.
He stated this on Wednesday in Kano during the commissioning of the multibillion naira Kwakwasiya city, one of the three mega cities built by the administration of Governor Rabi'u Kwankwaso.
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari; Victor Ben Ebikabowei, aka, Boy Loaf; Government Ekpudomenowei, aka, Tompolo; and other militants had last Saturday vowed to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan, wins the February presidential election.
The former militant leaders and their followers, who spoke at a meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, threatened to unleash violence on the country and take back Niger Delta oil should the president lose the election.
They also said any attempt to dethrone Mr. Jonathan would be seen as a direct attack on the Ijaw nation.
Neither the Federal Government nor the president, who is also Ijaw as the militant leaders, has so far reacted to the threat.
Describing the statements as "reckless," Mr. Danjuma, a retired army general and former Chief of Army Staff, who fought in the Nigerian civil war, said the threats by the militants were not only against national unity but also capable of plunging the country into war.
He asked the security agencies and the government to immediately arrest them.
"You should arrest Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Boylop and other Niger Delta militants for making reckless statements, which in any way does not mean keeping Nigeria as one entity and creating war situation," he said.
The Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service had recently threatened that they would move against anyone who makes inciting statements in the run up to the February elections.
But since the militants' comments were reported on January 24, both security agencies are not known to have taken action.
Addressing the Yenagoa meeting, Mr. Dokubo-Asari deplored the alleged intimidation being meted to the people of Ijaw stock in Nigeria, saying the people cannot take it any longer.
He told his colleagues, "For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharoah, there is a Moses. "We are going to war. Everyone of you should go and fortify yourself."
Mr. Dokubo-Asari, who condemned the attack on Jonathan in the north in the ongoing presidential campaigns, maintained that the survival of the Ijaw nation rests in the hands of the militants gathered at the meeting.
On his part, Boyloaf condemned the attack on President Jonathan in the north, saying nobody has the monopoly of violence.
He said there is nothing like one Nigeria, pointing out that oil is the only thing binding Nigeria's diverse nationalities together.
While maintaining that President Jonathan would win the election, he however said if the north takes the power away from Mr. Jonathan, the people of the Niger Delta region would take their oil back.
He stressed the need for oneness of purpose among the people, urging them to keep their grudges aside and face the present challenges facing the Ijaw nation with solidarity.
"Keep grudges and sentiments apart. We are ready to match them bumper to bumper," Boyloaf said.

PDP Says It Might Pass A Vote Of No Confidence On INEC Over Buhari's Certificate Scandal

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Organisation has challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to address the issues surrounding the certificate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC] Muhammadu Buhari, or face a vote of no-confidence from the party.
Femi Fani-Kayode, Director, Directorate of Media and Publicity of the organisation, said this at a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja.
The briefing, he said, was to raise issues that played up on the certificate of Mr. Buhari, adding that Mr. Buhari had made a shocking and belated disclosure on January 27 that INEC had his documents without being specific about the documents he was referring to.
This, he said, was yet another "squalid attempt to give Nigerians the impression that INEC has his certificate.
"If this is true, it represents a somersault from his original position which was that INEC has his affidavit and it once again reveals Gen. Buhari for what he is.
"With this latest antic, Gen. Buhari is obviously trying to smuggle a newly acquired certificate into INEC through the backdoor.
"If this is true and if INEC allows such a thing to happen, it would put a serious question mark on its impartiality and credibility.
"It would mean that it has collected his newly-acquired certificate, 40 days outside the stipulation of the Law.''
Mr. Fani-Kayode said that Mr. Buhari had also referred Nigerians to INEC's Legal Adviser on the issue, adding that the same legal adviser had earlier in response to numerous inquiries in December 2014, told journalists that INEC had published all that the presidential candidates submitted.
He had said that in the case of Mr. Buhari, FORM CF001 (no certificate attached) and affidavit which was a court paper and not personal document was submitted.
Mr. Fani-Kayode, therefore, wondered at what point the affidavit transmited into additional documents or when additional documents were provided to INEC in line with the law.
"The electoral body must come clean on this matter; otherwise we will be compelled to pass a no-confidence vote on it.
"If INEC is complicit in the desperate and despicable attempt to extricate Gen. Buhari, without compliance with the provisions of the law, from this lingering embarrassment, we will have no other choice than to harbour the suspicion and fear that the electoral body is already compromised and can lend itself to the ungodly agenda of truncating our victory when our candidate wins," said Mr. Fani-Kayode.
He, however, urged the election observers to keep watch of the unfolding events regarding Mr. Buhari's qualification or otherwise, stressing it was about obeying the rule of law and not about protecting the political interest of an individual.
This, he said, was especially so since a free, fair and credible election was not about the day of voting alone, but also the processes leading up to the elections (NAN)

Soludo Is The Worst CBN Governor This Country Have Seen -Okonjo-Iweala Goes For The Jugular

The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Wednesday took the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Chukwuma Soludo, to the cleaners over his criticism  of President Goodluck Jonathan's management of the country's economy, saying his comments amounted to committing "intellectual hara-kiri".
The Minister, who spoke through her Special Adviser on Media, Paul Nwabuikwu, accused Mr. Soludo of single-handedly mismanaging the country's banking sector between May 2004 and May 2009 and plunging the country into "an incredible accumulation of liabilities that will cost tax payers about N5.67 trillion".
Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, apparently livid, described the former CBN governor as "an embittered loser in the Nigerian political space" who is "so derailed" to "commit intellectual harakiri by deliberately misquoting economic facts and maliciously turning statistics on their head to justify a hatchet job".
"Soludo has shamelessly pandered to so many past leaders that Nigerians are asking one more time – what position is Soludo gunning for now?" she asked.
"There is definitely an issue of character with Prof. Charles Soludo and his desperate search for power and relevance in Nigeria. Nigerians should therefore beware of so-called intellectuals without character and wisdom because this combination is fatal," she added.

Jonathan Would Be Disgraced At Presidential Polls -Controversial Cleric Reveals

Controversial cleric and shepherd of Celestial Church of Christ, Elisha Parish, Prophet Marcus Korede Oluwatosin Tibetan has predicted the disgrace of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

In a recent interview, he spoke on a number of issues bothering around the 2015 elections while insisting there would be no bloodshed in the land.

On President Goodluck Jonathan, he said:
"If our politicians had done well, we won't have bothered, if they had given us steady power supply to set up our small scale businesses we wont bother about Abuja, we won't bother about Goodluck Jonathan because he is goodluck to his father and not goodluck to me which I told you three years ago.

His father gave him the name, we were not there and never knew the circumstances that warranted that name given to him. This man (Jonathan) told us in his campaign that he never wore shoes, he never wore pant, he used cassava leaves to make the first pant. We should have known where we were headed. But it is quite unfortunate now Buhari will take us back to primary one
."

He went further "Christians are tired already. Nothing will happen that way. No Christian in this country again, they have driven everybody away from the north.
So, for 2015, to answer your question directly, there will be elections but the disgrace of Goodluck is going to be massive; they are going to disgrace him everywhere

Court Compels MTN, Airtel, Others To Continue Buhari Fund Raiser Via SMS

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday restrained five telecoms firms from suspending All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign fund-raising platform.
Justice Ibrahim Buba made the ex-parte order following the party's motion.

The judge made an order of interim injunction restraining Etisalat, MTN, Glo, Airtel and Visafone from giving effect to a directive by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which warned them against running political promotions that will portray them as being partisan.

The judge ordered the telecoms firms "to continue to run, operate and/or restore to its full operative use the SMS Code platform 35350 created for fund-raising for the applicant's presidential campaign."

The orders are to subsist pending the hearing and determination of APC's originating motion on notice.

The court also granted APC leave to serve the originating motion on notice and other processes on NCC (the first defendant) outside the court's jurisdiction.

APC said the platform is to operate till February 12 when campaign activities for the presidential election will end in line with Electoral Act and the election time-table.

In the originating motion, APC is demanding N25billion damages from the defendants for violating the fundamental rights of the party and its members.

It said since the platform was suspended, it has been unable to disseminate or receive information from its supporters via the SMS code 35350.

The party said while the platform was suspended, NCC has allowed that of President Goodluck Jonathan to run seamlessly.

The party said it created a "premium SMS code 35350″ through which willing donors could contribute to its presidential campaign fund.

Within hours of its creation, APC said it was getting about five messages of N100 each every minute. A total of 5,400 messages were received, it said.

However, NCC in a January 19 letter, directed all telecoms service providers "to avoid running political advertisements that will portray them as being partisan."

NCC said it would "not hesitate to sanction any service provider that will flout this directive." As a result, the telecoms firms suspended the platform.

However, APC said political parties have been using several media platforms to advertise, with none accused of being partisan.

Jimi Agbaje's Pharmaceutical Firm Owes Lagos N1.6M In Taxes -Fashola Says

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said Jaykay Pharmacy Limited, owned by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party owes the Lagos State Government about N1.6m land use charge.

According to him, the land use charge, which the company should have remitted to the office of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, had accrued for four consecutive years.

Speaking at the 8th Annual Lagos State Taxation Stakeholders Conference on Wednesday, Fashola said the free education and free health care provided for Lagos residents were funded from the tax.

The governor said, "Jaykay Pharmacy has not paid land use charge for 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. It paid in 2013 and 2014. It owes this government N1, 629, 064.62. How many books will it have bought in the schools? How many drugs will it have provided in the hospital? I will advise you that you avoid inexperience. I will advise you that you avoid experiment."

He advised the citizens not to accept promises of tax exemption from politicians because it would not sustain the state.

The governor recalled that he predicted that oil revenue, which the country largely depended on, was not sustainable when he assumed office, adding that Lagos State prepared ahead of the oil plunge by ensuring total compliance with tax remittance.

Fashola added, "Inspite of the oil drop, we paid salaries in December. And this month salaries have already been credited. The Federal Government and some states have not paid since October while some have not paid for eight months. But because we took our destiny in our hands, we wear our tax compliance as a badge of honour. Despite the economic problems, this state will continue to survive.

"Even the umbrella party were criticising us that we are taxing people excessively. They forgot that the law by which we collect the income tax, they amended it. They cannot manoeuvre us. We are always ahead of them."

He added that the Federal Government was seven years behind Lagos State in taking proactive measures to sustain the economy by increasing revenue through tax generation and collection.

The Chairman, LIRS, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, said the agency had recorded 96 per cent voluntary tax compliance in the organised private sector under the umbrella body of the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, a record, which he explained, showed the success of the initiative.
