Ogun State Senator-elect, Mr Buruji Kashamu has described as illegal the decision by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to surround his house situated in Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State.‎
A statement signed by his media aide, Austin Oniyokor, said "this latest onslaught is a confirmation of the alleged plot to illegally abduct him in spite of the pending suit against this illegality.
"As a matter of fact, the court has ordered parties in the matter including the NDLEA to maintain status quo until judgment is delivered on Wednesday 27th May 2015.
"We have confirmed that they do not have a warrant of arrest, just as the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice has said that it did not give any order to carry out this illegality.
"We have confirmed that this illegality is being designed and executed by Chief Bode George whose wife is the Director General of the NDLEA, all in a bid to score cheap political points.
"We urge all well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on NDLEA, Chief George and his wife to toe the path of the rule of law and follow due process.
"Nigeria is not a Banana republic! The United States being the bastion of democracy, the rule of law and due process should not lend itself to this kind of illegality", the statement said.

Nineteen days after embarking on an adventurous journey to Otuoke in honour of President Jonathan,  three young Nigerians, a male and two females, have finally arrived the President's home town. John Oladele Nihi, had on 4th May embarked on the journey from Abuja, with the aim of celebrating President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, whom he described as the hero of democracy, because of the way he conceded defeat to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. He also set out to help 'clean' the outgoing President's house, in anticipation of his return home.
Nihi who initially set out on the journey alone was subsequently joined by one Gloria at Abaji, a border town of the FCT. The duo however got another companion  Ify, who joined them in Delta State. Announcing their arrival in Otuoke Friday afternoon, Nihi wrote,
  • "Live in Otuoke, Bayelsa State with a heart blowing welcome reception. Trekking to the King Palace #TrekForGEJ."
He also sent out a blackberry messenger broadcast announcing his arrival at Otuoke and indicating that he and his companions will now embark on the second phase of the task: cleaning of the President's home. See photos from his grand welcome below:

Maybe not as fast as Blessing Okagbare, but Diezani Alison-Madueke, ran the race of her life on Friday morning, to meet up with a life-saving flight to London, which had Muhammadu Buhari, on board.
The Minister of Petroleum Resources apparently smuggled herself into a British Airways flight to London, so as to have a much needed private audience with the President-elect.
It all happened at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, and those who witnessed the frantic race by Diezani, say it was beyond dramatic.
Diezani was so determined to meet up with Buhari's flight, that she ditched her aides behind and fled down the tarmac to catch the British Airways flight that left the airport at about 4.30am on its way to Heathrow Airport, London.
According to Punch newspapers' sources, the President-elect, who arrived the airport before the minister, was cleared first and he went straight into the aircraft.
Subsequently Diezani arrived the airport and was told that Buhari had already boarded the flight, and without a moment's hesitation, she hurriedly ran to ensure that she entered the plane.
A source on the ground, who witnessed the drama, said, "The man (Buhari) was at the front and had already passed the screening team. And immediately the woman (Diezani) came down, it was as if they told her that the President-elect was already inside the aircraft, so she started running. She even left her people behind so that she could board the flight along with the President-elect."
"This happened between 4am and 5am this (Friday) morning and the airline involved was British Airways. The flight was on its way from Abuja international airport to Heathrow Airport, London."

The famous, "There is God," video skit by the first lady, Patience Jonathan, is Nigeria's most viewed non-music footage ever on popular online video site, YouTube, the site's owner, Google, announced Thursday.
The video, published in 2014 by Channels TV, showed Mrs. Jonathan breaking down at a meeting over the abduction of about 276 schoolgirls by Boko Haram insurgents in Chibok, Borno State, in a dramatic display of emotion that drew global attention.
The meeting was the First Lady's first public acknowledgement of the Chibok abduction, one of Boko Haram's mass kidnapping that shocked the world.
Addressing a group of women, and the principal of the secondary school where the girls were seized, Mrs. Jonathan launched into what seemed a stagy show of grief, scolding the principal for her handling of the insurgents' attack.
She questioned why the principal hesitated to honour her invitation for a meeting in Abuja, and the circumstances of the kidnap.
With not satisfactory response from the principal, the Frist Lady exploded, "All these blood you people are shedding, there is God o, there is God o, God…o….Chai, there is God o," she lamented repeatedly before dabbing tears from her eyes with a handkerchief.
Mrs. Jonathan's outburst was also transcribed to imitate her inflection as, "All these blood you people are sharing, diaris God o, diaris God oooo, all this bloods you are sharing, chai, chai, chai diaris God oooh".
The video drew wide attention across the world, at a time the international community was fixed on how the Nigerian government was responding to the abduction.
The girls remain in captivity more than a year after.
The video ranking was released by Google on Thursday as YouTube celebrates its 10th year anniversary.

No fewer than six persons, including four Anglican priests, were on Friday allegedly beaten to stupor by some members a task-force working with the Enugu State Housing Corporation.
The victims were Reverends Collins Odoabuchi, Mbaka Peter, Eugene, and Maxwell Onyia.
Others members of the church affected were Ekpecha Okechukwu and Naomi Ibekwe.
The development, which is building up tension in Enugu, the state capital is coming one week to the end of Governor Sullivan Chime's administration.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that trouble started when members of the task force, accompanied by armed policemen, invaded a parcel of land belonging to the Christ Church, Uwani, Anglican Communion, sparking off anger from both clergymen and members of the church.
The Clerics were said to have tried to stop the Task force from carrying out the demolition exercise but were over powered by the government agents, who allegedly unleashed terror on the church leaders.
One of the victims, who gave her name as Naomi Ibekwe told journalists that she was hit with iron and hard objects, including stones, causing bruises and severe injuries on her.
But for the quick intervention of the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, who came physically to the scene, there would have been more casualties as the members of the task force insisted on going ahead with the exercise as allegedly directed by the state government.
Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Mohammed, told the angry church leaders and their faithful that they should allow peace to reign as negotiation had begun.
"We have discussed with the church. If anybody is injured, we will not take it lightly. We have already asked that a formal report be made and we will follow it up. We have agreed on a peace move and we are following it up", he stated.
Also speaking, the Priest in-charge of the Christ Church, Venerable N. Aghadi said, "We have talked at length and discussed very progressively.
"The Commissioner of Police is pleading that we should go home and rest. He has promised that the matter is in good hand and that immediately the Archbishop returns, he will have meeting with him".
However, a source told Saturday Vanguard that the state government revoked the land with an intention to build an estate christened "Transparency Estate".
While the clash lasted on Friday, five bulldozers were being used to demolish the structures at the disputed land inside the church premises.
Findings by Saturday Vanguard showed that the Church was dedicated by His Grace, the Most Reverend C . J. Patterson, the then ArchBishop of West Africa and Bishop of the Niger in 1965.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that the Managing Director of the Enugu State Housing Corporation, Emeka Vitalis Onah, who led his team to the place, escaped being lynched by church members who had planned a reprisal attack.

Some Muslim youths on Friday stormed the Kano Government House and the palace of the Emir of Kano, Mahammad Sanusi II, to protest an alleged blaspheming of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) by a Tijjani preacher, Abdul Nyass.
The protesters, armed with sticks and other dangerous weapons, stormed the streets of the city to express their anger over Nyass' alleged blasphemous statements against Prophet Mohammed.
The youths attempted to gain entry into the Kano State Government House, but were prevented by security operatives, who had hectic time calming them.
Chanting "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar," meaning "God is great," "God is great," the youths temporarily caused chaos at the Government House, causing stampede for about an hour before the intervention of government officials and security agents, who also formed a ring-like barricade to prevent their entry.
The intervention of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso was said to have averted a bloody clash between the protesters and security operatives manning the gate, while police officers were immediately drafted by the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to the scene.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for State Affairs, Mr. Aminu Gwarzo, and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr. Yunusa Dangoni, later invited the leader of the sect, Sherriff Sani Jan-bluo, before peace was restored.
However, the irate youths set ablaze Nyass' house in Gaide, Kombotso Local Government Area of the state and burnt part of the state Sharia court, a development which ignited widespread condemnation across the state from prominent Tijaniyya leaders, including Shiek Dairu Bauchi, and Califa Shiek Isyaka Rabiu.
The court, located in Rijia Lemo, where the preacher was supposed to appear was set ablaze by the youths after patiently waiting for a long time without him showing up.

President Jonathan To Take Dbanj's Job After Leaving Office

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday said his major commitment after leaving office on May 29 is to engage religious and ethnic leaders across the country on the need to allow peace to reign.
One individual who has continually referred to himself as a Peace Ambassador is pop star Dbanj who is also an associate of the outgoing president.
The President said he took the decision because of his strong belief that Nigerians could only practise their different religions in an atmosphere of peace.
Jonathan stated this shortly after he was presented with the 2015 Epitome of Peace Award by the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory Field, Apostle John Buzu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan said the award, which was in recognition of the step he took after the March 28 presidential election, had further spurred him into doing more for the country.
He said he would work hard to reduce religious and racial discrimination in the country after leaving office, expressing the hope that people would be ready to join him in the crusade.
Jonathan said, "To whom much is given, much is expected. For you to honour me today, you have given me another mandate to work harder to ensure that we, as Nigerians, continue to live in peace.
"One thing I have decided I will do after leaving office is to be talking to faithful of all religions – Christians, Muslims and other religions – on the need for Nigerians to live in peace.
"This is because when there is crisis in any part of the country, nobody can practise his own religion. If there is crisis anywhere, people cannot go to the mosque; they cannot go to the church.
"We need peace in this country, no matter our religious persuasion or belief. That will be one of my main commitments when I leave office. I believe I will have so many apostles that will follow me to do that."
While thanking the church for considering him fit for the award, the President noted that a number of Nigerians make extraordinary contributions to national development daily, but they go unnoticed.
He added that a few of them, including himself, were luckier because their contributions were noticed.
The President, who was presented with a white shirt and suit which the church said connote peace, a medal as well as a plaque, said the items would be displayed conspicuously in a presidential museum or library which he would put in place after leaving office.
"I am grateful for the insignia given to me. The plaque, the medal and the dress are quite unique. They will be very conspicuous in my presidential museum or library so that even after 50 years, people will still see and appreciate what you have done today even if I have left this world and have gone beyond."
Shortly before presenting the award, Buzu said it was in recognition of Jonathan's outstanding leadership qualities, strides, contributions and laudable achievements as the President of the country.
He said Jonathan had proven to be an excellent leader and a wonderful asset to the country.
Buzu added that one excellent quality that distinguished the President for the award was the legacy of peace which he had bequeathed to Nigeria.
