Lobatan! TIME Magazine Names Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau In 100 Most Influential People In The World

Now this is absolutely not funny and one wonders why TIME name a Terrorist as one of the most influential people in the world but it appears the panel has their modalities for selection.
Read what TIME wrote about Abubakar Shekau below...
Most Americans do not yet recognize his name, but the citizens of Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, know Abubakar Shekau all too well: he is the most violent killer their country has ever seen. Shekau took over the terrorist organization Boko Haram in 2009 after the group had been weakened by Nigerian government forces. Shekau, who is believed to be in his 30s, began to stage increasingly daring kidnapping and killing raids on schools, churches and mosques thought by Boko Haram to be violating their interpretation of Islam.
The taking of over 200 schoolgirls in April 2014 brought Boko Haram into the international spotlight. By most accounts, Boko Haram has killed more than 10,000 people and is spreading into neighboring countries. Shekau's latest action may finally summon a U.S. response: he has publicly aligned his group with ISIS, the terrorist group that holds territory in Syria and Iraq and has expanded its reach into Yemen and Libya.

The Kidnapped Orekoya Kids Were Found N»ked In A Bag After Ransom Was Paid...read the full details of what transpired

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The Lawanson Road, Itire abode of the Orekoyas, whose three children were kidnapped by a housemaid last Wednesday, 24 hours after she was employed, became a Mecca of sorts yesterday, following news of their discovery.

The children, Demola, 6; Adedamola, 4, and Aderomola, 11 months, were reportedly found in an uncompleted building in Shasha area of Akowonjo, Lagos, Tuesday night, after an undisclosed ransom was paid into an account.
According to their maternal grandfather, Senior Apostle Abraham Adekunle, the children were found naked inside a bag. No arrest has, however, been made.
The abductors, as gathered, had sent an account number of an undisclosed bank to the Orekoyas.
The children, who had been ravaged by mosquitoes, were immediately taken to police hospital, Ikeja.
When Vanguard visited the Orekoya's home yesterday, the children and their parents were yet to arrive from the hospital. Their grandfather, Senior Apostle Adekunle, described the eight days of his grandchildren's disappearance as one of the worst challenges he had faced in his 67 years of existence.

Grandfather's story

According to him, "these eight days have been days of unrest for every member of my family.
"It all started after my daughter, Adebisi Orekoya, applied for a nanny through OLX (an online sales portal). On Monday (last week) one lady, who identified herself as Mary Akinloye, came for the job.
"My daughter took her to her place of work to introduce to her colleagues. Next day, Tuesday, she resumed work. But on Wednesday, she took my three grandchildren, leaving Michael, the eldest, a boarder who was on holiday, with information that she was going to get something.
"When Michael did not see Mary and his siblings, he contacted his mother by  phone. My daughter in turn called her husband, who had to cut short his trip to Ibadan and return home.
"We went to Surulere division and Area 'F' to incident the case. Efforts to reach Mary on her phone proved abortive, as it was switched off. But she called next day to say she was with the children and demanded for ransom of N15 million.
"Since then we have been running from pillar to post looking for how to raise the money. Public-spirited Nigerians, family members and friends contributed.
"Aside that, we did not relent in prayers. There was no church around this area that I did not visit for prayers. In fact, in one of the prayer sessions, prophesy came that we would find the children today (yesterday).
"I have nothing else to say than to thank God for sparing the lives of my grandchildren."
Also, elder sister to Mr. Lere Orekoya, Mrs Adesunbo Alabi, stated that when news of the disappearance of her nephews reached her, it was like a dream.
"At first , it seemed like a home theatre movie. I never believed until I came and saw my brother's wife crying. I really appreciate my brother's courage during this period because he encouraged us not to cry, that anything that happens to one in life is for a purpose.
"My joy knows no bounds today because the abductors demanded for money, where other victims were killed."

Hospitalized
When Vanguard visited the hospital , Mr. Orekoya was seen rocking Aderomola, the youngest child, to sleep with a lullaby: Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream.
While Aderomola was on drip, the other two were playing.
The children described the kidnappers' hideout as their new home, saying Mary cooked the meal they ate.
Efforts to get their parents' reaction, yesterday, initially proved abortive as they said it was not a day for explanation.
Mr. Orekoya, however, said the family would brief the press at their home today.
After much persuasion, he simply stated that the rescue of his children was an indication that prayers worked.
"In one word, I will say that prayer works. We are happy that they are alive and well," he said.

OLX response
After days of silence from OLX, the online sales portal, where Mrs Adebisi Orekoya, applied for a nanny through an advert, finally responded by describing the situation as unfortunate.
OLX Country Manager, Lola Masha, in an online statement, yesterday, said: "OLX is an online classified site that brings buyers and sellers together to promote trade.
"We take steps to moderate and review all adverts, but we do not participate in the negotiations between buyers and sellers.
"Transactions are performed directly between both parties. In all our marketing campaign, we continuously urge our users to take necessary precautionary checks when using OLX.
"We sincerely hope that the three kids are returned safely to their loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we will provide all help within our capacity to facilitate the quick reunion of the children with their family.
"We continue to innovate and improve our review process with tighter measures that would help to minimize future occurrence of negative incidents.
"We also need our users to help us kick out bad players and ask them to report any dubious activity or user on the site for immediate action."

Female Speaker Emerges Best Graduating Student At Lagos Institution..."I didn't allow politics and the opposite s3x to distract me"

With a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.92, Evelyn Nenuwa has emerged the best graduating student of Lagos State Polytechnic 2013/2014 academic session in the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme, beating Adeniyi Azeez and Abeeb Nureni, with CGPAs of 3.86 and 3.84, bagging HND in Mass Communication and Electrical and Electronic Engineering respectively.
Graduating from the Department of Science Lab Technology with option in Chemistry, the Edo State-born Nenuwa got a cash reward for being the best graduating student in her department and also cash prize for emerging the best graduating student of the session by the LASPOTECH administration.
Nenuwa  who was actively involved in politics while in school, explained that she never allowed her post as the Speaker of the National Association of Technology Students, School of Technology, LASPOTECH chapter to distact her studies but rather studied more.‎
Also,  the counselling she got from her parents and church leaders, also helped her a great deal. She explains that her father who is an ex-Navy Officer, counselled her to avoid peer pressure, manage her time judiciously and above all, move closer to God.
According to her, achieving such laudable feat is the fruit of lot of sacrifice and self-denial. Nenuwa said she avoided distractions on the campus, including having any romantic relationships with males, attending parties and succumbing to peer pressure to indulge in frivolities.
In her words: "I never gave room for distractions. One, I did not get involved in any amorous affair with the opposite sex. Again, I developed a workable reading time table for myself; and I kept to it. My parents  advised me to avoid peer presure but have a strong relationship with God and they  provided all I needed to succeed in my academics because they know the importance of education.
"I developed a workable reading time table for myself; and I kept to it. Studying in Lagos State Polytechnic is not an easy thing if truly one wants to come out with high grade because there are series of assignments to battle with and you have to be in class before 8am and all the students live off campus.  I did not joke with my studies, I always made use of the school library even on weekends since I could not study at home because the environment is noisy and not conducive for studying."
Lagos State Governor,  Babatunde Fashola urged the graduands of the institution to be confident and create job opportunities, not only for themselves but for others too.
Fashola who was represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Chief Fatai Olukoga stressed further that the Polytechic has impacted on students what will make them stand on their own during their stay in the institution.
He said: "The unemployment rate in Nigeria is quite high with a great pointer to half of the youth population being unemployed, yet, thousands more graduate from our tertiary institutions every year widening the figure. We want our students to leave school as well rounded people that will be able to stand on their own, able not only to work but create job for others.
"However, for decades, the mentality of Nigeria has been  go to school, get good grades and get a job when you graduate, instead preaching to our children to aspire to create jobs from all indications."

#XenophobiaSA: "when Marwa was Nigerian ambassador in SA, he used to come to my office to complain" -APC Chieftain Wants Nigeria To Reciprocate SA Treatment Of Nigerians

A former Minister of State for Interior, Chief Demola Seriki, has urged the Federal Government not to treat with kid gloves, the harassment of Nigerians in South Africa.‎
He added that the Federal Government must reciprocate the unfriendly gesture of South Africa.
Seriki, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, said this in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday while reacting to the killing of some Nigerians in South Africa.
He said South Africa had always been unfriendly towards Nigeria despite that many South African countries were allowed to freely operate in Nigeria without any harassment.
He said, "The issue with Africa is a recurring decimal. When I was in government, the problem was there. The diplomatic row with South Africa is not something new.
"I remember a conversation between myself and the then Minister of the Interior in South Africa. We had an altercation because they are so biased towards Nigeria and Nigeria is not the same.
"I think we need to develop a strong reciprocity paper, which is already there, but we need to implement it.
"For example, in South Africa, if you buy a house, as a Nigerian, you cannot sell it and if you sell it, the money must remain in South Africa. You must look for a South African to buy that house and you can't take the money out. We need to do the same thing to them here.
"They have large investments in Nigeria such as MTN, DSTV and Protea Hotel and Nigeria is probably the number one consumer of South African wines. So, we need to do more in the area of reciprocity.
"When Ambassador Buba Marwa was in South Africa, he used to come to my office to complain. He showed me pictures of Nigerians, who were brutalised without trial and the South African government has failed to protect Nigerians."
Seriki, who also served as the Minister of State for Defence under former President Umaru Yar'Adua, said insecurity in Nigeria had led to diplomatic row with other countries.

Lagos Now Earn 23Billion In Internally Generated Revenue

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola
The Lagos State Government says about 4.5 million residents are now paying their taxes, thus increasing its average monthly Internally Generated Revenue from N20bn in 2013 to N23bn in the first quarter of this year.
The Special Adviser, taxation and Revenue, Mr. Bola Shodipo, and the Chairman, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Tunde Fowler, during a ministerial press conference to mark the fourth year second term in office of Governor Babatunde Fashola in Alausa, Ikeja, said voluntary taxpayers increased from 3.8 million in 2013 to 4.5 million as of first quarter of 2015.
Explaining the figure, Fowler said, "The high months of collection are usually in April, May and June. These are the months when companies declare dividends and members of staff go on leave and they get their leave allowance.
"In terms of our actual collection, we didn't increase in IGR. In 2013 we had approximately N236bn, while in 2014 it was N276bn. So we went from an average of N20bn in 2013 to an average of N23bn. That is one of the things that have kept the state working.
"The informal sector has yet to pay tax. Some of the people in this sector get paid for their services. They are about three million people in the state. The objective of taxation is to distribute wealth."

The LIRS boss stated that 626 tax defaulters were prosecuted with a total liability of N11.6bn, while 376 succeeded in obtaining a restraining order, translating to a liability of N8.1bn.
Fowler added that N728m had, however, been recovered through court processes.
Shodipo said the growth in the number of tax payers showed that the residents trusted the government to deliver on its promise.
He said, "As Lagosians, we are embedded with the 'can do spirit.' That is why we particularly acknowledge the prompt payment of your taxes and levies; this has in no small way been the propellant for this administration to fulfill its electoral promises."

I would deal with you -Governor Ajimobi of Oyo tells ex-Gov Ladoja

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has warned that his administration would not tolerate any form of violence from Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the Accord Party governorship candidate who lost to him in last election, stressing that, the full weight of law would be used to deal with him if he misbehaves.‎
Ajimobi disclosed this yesterday in Ibadan while briefing the press on the reported plan of the erstwhile governor to instigate violence in the state.
While warning against violence, Governor Ajimobi said "surprisingly, the Accord Party has been complaining that it would go to court. No problem. If you look at the results of the election and the conduct, it was the freest and fairest election ever held. Everybody said it, all his agents signed at the polling units. It is only at the final collation centre that they did not sign. Let him go to court," he said.

It would be recalled that at a meeting with his party members on Tuesday, Senator Rashidi Ladoja was quoted to have threatened to let his party members loose if assaulted by fellow politicians.
"We brought peace and security to Oyo state. We established that in the state and we will not fold our arms and allow any individual to destroy it. Senator Ladoja's administration was replete with violence. Some people are sore losers, some are very sportsmanly. If he says he will resort to violence as reported, we will not tolerate it. Oyo state is a state where nobody is above the law. If he has complaints, let him go to the police to complain.
"But if he says he wants to lead some people to resort to violence in the state, we will deal with him. We don't want violence in Oyo state again. Nobody is too big for the law in Oyo state. Anyone who is so desperate that even when defeated, he is crying about his intention to cause problems, he should follow due process and should obey the law of the land. He is not too big to obey the law. I guarantee you, should anybody lead any group to cause violence, the law will take its full weight to deal with them, I assure them," he said.
Going into the details of the election, the governor affirmed that the APC won fair and square adding, "If you look at the results of the election, APC had 25 per cent in 29 local governments. Other parties did not meet the statutory requirement of 25 per cent. Accord Party had only 17 per cent. We won across six political zones out of seven. Accord and Labour won one each. Where is the spread of Accord Party? He did not win in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Oke Ogun I & II, and Ibadan city zones. He did not even meet the statutory requirement. Let him go to court, we are waiting," he said.

Imo Assembly Lawmakers Lament Non-Payment Of Two Months Salary

Imo State   lawmakers rose from a plenary, yesterday, and marched straight to the Office of the Accountant-General, AG, to protest the non-payment of their two months salaries and allowances.
The legislators were also irked that workers in some ministries and parastatals had reportedly not been paid their February and March 2015 salaries.
The lawmakers reacted angrily to the motion raised by the member representing Onuimo state constituency, Mr. Robertson Ekwebelem, and was seconded by the member for Ehime Mbano constituency, Mr. Kingsley Dimaku.
Following the motion, the House resolved to meet with the Accountant-General and the Commissioner for Finance, to ascertain why civil servants and lawmakers were being owed their legitimate earnings.
The obviously angry lawmakers, on arrival at the Accountant-General's Office, were heard as they sought to know the reason their salaries and that of civil servants remained unpaid for two months.
It was however, gathered that their trip to the Accountant-General's Office was fruitless as the AG, Mrs. S. N. Udogu, was said to be attending to another official assignment somewhere.
It was also gathered that Mrs. Udogu was promptly alerted of the lawmakers' protest march and quickly scampered into safety before their arrival.
A senior staff member in one of the state ministries revealed that "when the trip to the AG's office failed, the legislators stormed the office of the Commissioner for Finance, before returning to the House to conclude the day's sitting."

A former Vice-President and current chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission and security officials implicated in the conduct of last weekend's governorship election in Taraba State should be replaced with new personnel before the rerun election in the state.‎
Atiku made the suggestion while welcoming INEC's decision to cancel the governorship election results in some local government areas of Taraba State and declare the outcome of last Saturday's polls in the state inconclusive.

This was contained in a statement released by the Atiku Media Office on Wednesday.
It quoted the Turaki Adamawa as agreeing with the widespread reports of irregularities in some local governments of the state.
"These irregularities included using armed personnel to intimidate voters," Atiku said.
Atiku said, "Elections should not be militarised. Nigeria is a democracy, not a dictatorship. Citizens should be able to go out and vote without fear of being threatened with the nozzle of a gun."

He also said that election violations were perpetrated in Southern Taraba, specifically in Wukari, Takum, Kurmi and Donga local councils. Atiku noted that thousands of troops were deployed in these areas and electoral officers were heavily compromised.
"These people should not be allowed to go back during the rerun election. No troops should be allowed nearby," Atiku said.
Atiku also called on the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to replace the security personnel in Taraba with new hands from neighbouring Gombe, Bauchi and Adamawa states during the period of the rerun elections.

Barcelona took a big step towards the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday as a goal from Neymar and a Luis Suarez double ended Paris St Germain's 33-game unbeaten run at home in Europe with a 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes.
PSG, who were without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, suspended for one game after picking up a red card in the last-16 second leg at Chelsea, fell
behind when Neymar netted from close range at the end of a quick counter attack in the 18th minute.
Suarez doubled the tally in the 67th after slaloming through the PSG defence, who lost captain Thiago Silva to a possible hamstring injury after 21 minutes, and wrapped it up 11 minutes from time with a curling shot into the top corner.
Gregory van der Wiel reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute with an effort that deflected in off Jeremy Mathieu as PSG suffered their first loss at home in Europe since 2006 ahead of the return leg at the Nou Camp next Tuesday.

Ricardo Quaresma's two early goals and a second-half strike from Jackson Martinez helped a slick Porto complete a stunning 3-1 home victory over a sloppy Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarterfinal first
leg on Wednesday.‎
The Portuguese side raced out of the blocks with two goals in the opening 10 minutes, Quaresma converting from the penalty spot and finishing neatly as Bayern's sluggish
defending was punished.
Five-time champions Bayern, decimated by injuries, clawed their way back into the tie when midfielder Thiago Alcantara steered home at the far post after 28 minutes.
But Martinez pounced on an error by Jerome Boateng after 65 minutes and rounded Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer to re-establish Porto's two-goal advantage heading into the return leg on April 21.
