A gynecologist at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Dr. Jibril Abudullahi, has revealed that change in position during $3x can help reduce the probability of urinary tract infection in women.
Abdullahi said that urinary tract infection could be easily contracted when women indulge in harmful lifestyle.

He added that good personal hygiene coupled with other healthy lifestyle of an individual could help women in preventing urinary tract infection.

He said: "A change in position during $3x may help reduce the possibility of being infected because it reduces the friction on the urethra.
"Having multiple s3xual partners contributes to the risk of having urinary tract infection.
"Too frequent and intense s3xual intercourse could result to it.
"The use of diaphragms and un-lubricated condoms are contributory factors."
Abdullahi also explained that urinary tract infection is a bacterial infection that occurs when bacteria invades the urinary tract system.

According to him, there are many contributory factors that can cause urinary tract infection in women, including bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near rectum or in the v»gina.

He said the infection could spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra.
The expert said the use of V~lva perfumes, diabetes, pregnancy, menopause and presence of blockage in the urinary tract, among other biological abnormalities, could also cause urinary tract infection.

Abudullahi said holding urine for too long could also cause urinary tract infection, stressing that the longer you wait the more the bladder stretched and could get weakened.
He said that intake of water as a preventive measure against urinary tract infection should be encouraged.
"Frequent taking of vitamin C supplements helps reduce chances of getting urinary tract infection.
"The use of cotton panties with a cotton crotch also reduces the chances of infection.
"The use of condom, use of lubricants is very important in the prevention of urinary tract infection.
"Complete urination before and after $3x and cleaning of the genitals before $3x is key."
The physician said the treatment for urinary tract infection involves the use of antibiotics for a short period of time prescribed by a specialist.

HELP! My best friend is sleeping with my wife and there is nothing I can do

My childhood friend got appointed into a very juicy post and since then, my fortunes have changed. He's thrown a lot of contracts my way and we've been able to complete our own house and change cars. He has also made my wife the official caterer of the establishment he works with and she too has become financially secured in her own rights. But not as secured as the way she's spending money. She buys any aso-ebi going, no matter how expensive, and the array of her jewels is mind-boggling.

Lately, her catering contract has been stretched to providing afternoon lunches for the directors and I've heard talks that my friend sleeps with my wife regularly and nobody in his office dares complain about her catering no matter how shoddy it is. I tried to stop her working but my own contracts not only stopped, I found it difficult to collect money for the ones I'd already completed. So I lifted my ban, and of course, contracts started coming in again.

I feel humiliated that things have to be this way. The kids are now used to fancy things and I never want to go back to the days where I had to scrimp and save.

I've been advised to look the other way as things like that happen all the time. But I don't love my wife any more even though I have this feeling that if I sent her packing, I, along with our three children, would be the ones to suffer. We've been married 19 years.

Woman Beaten To Pulp As she Tries Dumping Dead Baby

Mayhem was let loose in Ago Igbala in the Ibafo area of Ogun State on Thursday after a mentally-challenged woman was caught with a dead newborn baby.

It was said the woman, popularly called Tope, was playing with the baby at a refuse dump in the area, when a passerby saw her and raised the alarm.

It was gathered that Tope dropped the baby and took to her heels when a mob confronted her. She was said to have been beaten up by the mob, who reportedly chased her towards the Ibafo police station, a few kilometres from Ago Igbala.

Our correspondent learnt that Tope, who was said to be in her 40s, was later rescued from the crowd by the policemen from the station.

In a visit to the area, some residents and eyewitnesses disclosed that Tope was mentally ill while others said she might be pretending.

One of them, Samad Kolawole, said, "I came to Ibafo five years ago and I have known her since then. According to what I heard, she has been like that for years. We were all surprised when we saw the baby with her. Probably, somebody dumped the child somewhere, and she picked it.‎
"Although I was not part of the people that beat her up, the rampant case of using human parts for money ritual prompted them to do so."

A trader in the area, Mrs. Janet Fabiyi, said the child might have been used for ritual purpose and dumped in the neighbourhood.
"Some wicked parents can decide to throw away their baby just because of poverty or if they are not ready for parenting. It can also be that the baby was used for rituals and dumped," she said.

However, an okada rider, Bashir Rasaq, said Tope might be hiding under lunacy to perpetrate evil. He said she had not shown up in the area since after the incident, adding that her paraphernalia was later set ablaze by the mob.
He said, "I don't think she is mentally ill. She ran towards police station for safety. That is why I am suspicious of her. Since that morning till now (Saturday evening), we have not seen her, whereas she used to come here every day."

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.

According to him, Tope was breast-feeding the baby when she was attacked by the mob.

He said, "Yes, we have a case of such. The mad woman was seen in possession of the dead baby ─ a day old baby. We rescued her from a mob. She did not kill the baby. She just found the dead baby where it was dumped. No clue on the person who dumped the dead baby. We are still on that."

Ebola! Sierra Leone's Vice President Admitted In Quarantine Following Aide's Death

Sierra Leone's Vice President Sam Sumana has placed himself in quarantine following the Ebola death of one of his guards, a government spokesman said Saturday, as the country reintroduced travel restrictions as the number of new cases rises again.

Sumana "has decided to place himself in precautionary quarantine awaiting the results of tests by the health authorities", the spokesman said.
Sumana's bodyguard, 42-year-old John Koroma, died from Ebola on Friday, medical sources said.

Sources at the vice president's office said Sumana is not in danger but had decided to stay out of his office for the next 21 days and work from his home in the west of the capital.

Ebola, one of the deadliest viruses known to man, is spread only through direct contact with the bodily fluids of the recently deceased or an infected person showing symptoms such as fever or vomiting.

More than 9,500 people have died of the disease since the west African epidemic emerged in southern Guinea in December 2013.
Liberia has registered the highest death toll of 4,037 fatal cases while Sierra Leone has seen almost half of the total of 23,694 cases.

While Liberia is showing only a tiny handful of new cases each week, Guinea and Sierra Leone continue to be a worry to the authorities, who say they still do not have the epidemic under control.

Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma leaves for Brussels on Sunday to co-reside with the EU at an international meeting on the fight against Ebola and measures to facilitate reconstruction in the countries hit by the virus.

Drama As Farmer Drags Buhari To Court Over Certificate Saga

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has received a suit from one Mr. Sergin Onuka Ibe‎, a farmer from Abia State, begging the court not to allow Major General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd, to contest the

March 28 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
‎The plaintiff, through his lawyer Mr. U.O. Ukairo,‎ asked the court to invoke its original powers and compel ‎Buhari to not only withdraw from the presidential race, but to equally stop parading himself as a bonafide candidate for the poll.

He contended that the 1st defendant (Buhari), is not legally fit to vie for presidency in view of the pendency of a perjury charge against him.

The plaintiff maintained that Buhari violated the provision of section 31 of the Electoral Act by lying on oath about his educational qualifications.

He told the court that a personal investigation he conducted revealed that Buhari lacks the basic educational qualifications, adding that the information the 1st defendant supplied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in his Form CF001, were false.

‎Aside Buhari and the APC, INEC was also joined as a defendant in the suit marked FHC/UM/C9/13/15.

Meantime, Justice Ademola Adeniyi has ordered the service of the court processes on Buhari at his official residence at 4A and B Sultan Lane, Off Sultan Road in Kaduna.

‎The Judge said the defendant could as well serve the Originating Summons on the 1st defendant via substituted means, to wit; publishing same in any national daily.

The case was subsequently adjourned to March 26 for hearing.

Specifically, the plaintiff is among other things, praying the court to make ‎a "declaration that the information contained in Form CF001 the 1st defendant supplied on oath to the 3rd defendant in accordance with section 31 of the Electoral Act, are false.

"An order that upon ‎determining the falsity of the above depositions that the 1st defendant is thereby disqualified from contesting the Presidential election holding on March 28, 2015, on the platform of the 2nd defendant.

"An ord‎er directing the 3rd defendant (INEC) to remove the name of the 1st defendant as a candidate in the Presidential election holding on March 28, 2015.

As well as, "An order directing that any votes accredited to the 1st defendant at the election shall be null and void, he being disqualified ab-initio as a candidate in the election.

‎In a 14 paragraphed statement of claim, the plaintiff, told the court that he is a citizen from Amaekpu-Ohafia in Abia State and is a farmer/politician.

He said he was formerly ‎elected as a Councilor ‎that represented Isiama ward in Okasia Local Government Area of Abia State and a registered voter who is entitled to vote in the forthcoming general elections.

He averred that, "The first defendant in order to be eligible to contest the presidential election submitted to the 3rd defendant an affidavit which is by the nomenclature of the 3rd defendant, known as Form CF001.

"Th‎e said Form CF001 contains, on oath, the personal particulars of the 1st defendant.
"The 3rd defendant in accordance with electoral procedure published the said particulars of the 1st defendant in Umuahia, Abia State, being one of the constituencies of the 1st defendant.

"The plaintiff inspected the said Form CF001 and has reasonable grounds to believe that the following information are false:

"‎(1) All my academic qualification document as filled in my presidential form, ApC/001/2015, are currently with the Secretary military board as at the time of this affidavit. (2) WASC-1961‎.

"The particulars and or facts upon which the plaintiff founded the reasonable grounds are: 1) The Nigerian Army like other organisations do not keep certificates of serving or retired Soldiers, but copies only, a fact known to the 1st defendant as a past military Head of State of Nigeria.

"(2) Accordingly ‎the "academic qualifications documents or some or one of them do not exist.

"(3) the defendant knowing that he does not have "WASC-61″ academic qualifications resorted to lying on oath, failed to attach any certificate.

"(4) There is a presumption against unnatural events to the effect that where a person claims that his certificates are with the office that ‎regulated his previous services, it is probable that no such certificate is in existence.

"(5) There is no office known under any law at all as "The Secretary Military Board", a fact known or ought to be known by the 1st defendant, a retired General of the Nigerian Army.

‎"(6) Arising from above, the plaintiff has no place at which he could verify the deposition of the 1st defendant.

"The plaintiff is "a person" under section 31(5) of the Electoral Act and accordingly has the requisite locus standi to file this suit.

"The plaintiff upon inspecting the said Form CF001 applied to the 3rd defendant for a copy of it at its office at Umuahia but the 3rd defendant refused to give any copy to the plaintiff but directed the plaintiff to submit the application to its Abuja office.

"The plaintiff in obedience to the directive of the 3rd defendant at its Umuahia office submitted another application at the Abuja office of the 3rd defendant. (a copy of the lett‎er is hereby pleaded and will be relied upon at the trial) .

"Regrettably, the 3rd defendant has continued to refuse to give a copy of the said Form CF001 to the plaintiff for which reason the plaintiff went to the notice board of the 3rd defendant and took photographs of the Form CF001 with a digital Samsung Tablet which the plaintiff will be relied upon at the trial.

"The plaintiff has demanded that the 1st defendant withdraws from the presidential election but he continues to parade himself as a candidate".‎

APC Spent N5Billion On Chatham House Jamboree -PDP Alleges...says APC protesters were threatened scholarship students

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) has said that the Chatham House engagement in London by All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, was arranged with the sum of N5 billion.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, the Director of Media and Publicity of PDPPCO, Femi Fani-Kayode, said that Buhari would be on his way to International Criminal Court on account of the 2011 electoral violence in Nigeria if he failed to win the presidential poll.

He also said that his life was being threatened following his statement that former Lagos state governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, was plotting to become the next President.‎
He said: "It is quite interesting to note that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is describing the appearance of its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, last Thursday, at the Chatham House in London, as successful. This is not so and in fact the contrary is the case. The truth is that the outing was a monumental failure.
"The whole sorry episode has now fully exposed the APC as a party built on propaganda, deceit, make-believe and one which lacks respect for the people of Nigeria. A few days ago we promised to go into further detail on the Chatham House episode at a later stage and we have decided to do that today. Here are the facts.
"Buhari's appearance at Chatham House was a last-minute decoy to divert the attention of Nigerians and the whole world from the fact that his trip to London was mainly to seek medical attention and care. The point we are making is that General Buhari was not originally scheduled to go to Chatham House but in order to divert attention from the real purpose of the trip, the Chatham House speaking engagement was hurriedly put in place."

Fani-Kayode added that the people in the hall of Chatham House were sponsored, adding that the APC leaders begged for the speaking engagement, which was paid for.
"The people in the hall were sponsored. 1,500 persons applied to attend the function but only 200 were allowed in. The audience was carefully selected. The APC mobilised many students from the Republic of Ireland, who were all on scholarship courtesy of the Rivers State Government, to embark on a pro-Buhari rally outside the Chatham House. The students were threatened that their scholarships would be withdrawn if they refused to participate in the rally.
"The information at our disposal indicates that no less than N5 billion was budgeted for the London jamboree. This amount was wasted on General Buhari's Chatham House speaking engagement, numerous foreign consultants, air tickets for the huge delegation, the contingent of governors, hotel bills, the purchase and renting of vehicles and other logistics. We challenge the APC and its leaders to contradict this information," he said.

On Buhari facing ICC, Fani-Kayode said, "No matter what they do or say we are certain that Nigerians will reject such a lying party at the polls during the March 28th elections.
"And after its and General Buhari's rejection at the poll, General Buhari may have to prepare to face charges of human rights abuses and criminality filed against him before the International Criminal Court on account of the 2011 electoral violence in Nigeria."

Brave Officer Killed As Police Trails Robbery Gang

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Members of a robbery gang in Calabar, Cross River State have killed one of the policemen trailing their vehicle shortly after an operation.

It was learnt on Sunday that the policemen, who were after the robbers on Saturday, also killed one of the suspected robbers.
It was gathered that the four-man gang operated in an Audi 80 car with registration number, XA 904 NDN, for the robbery.
It was learnt that shortly after the policeman was killed, there was a shootout between the suspected robbers and the other policemen.

The Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, who identified the slain policeman as Corporal Leonard Ofem, said the incident occurred around 8pm in the Eight Miles area of the metropolis.
He added that the policemen went after the robbers following a tip-off from a "concerned resident of the area".
Bassey said another Corporal, Sunday Joseph, was recuperating at an undisclosed hospital after sustaining bullet wounds from the incident.

He said the four-man gang specialised in robbing unsuspecting passengers that entered their taxi, adding that although three members of the gang fled, the police would soon get them.

Bassey said, "Following a tip-off this morning, our men trailed this group of armed robbers using one Audi taxi to deceive people (popularly known as one chance).‎
"As they moved from one area to another looking for more prey, they discovered that policemen were trailing them.
"They fired at the policemen and killed one corporal. That was when the policemen fired back.
"One of the robbers was hit and three others, including a lady, ran away. Our men tried to save the wounded policeman and therefore did not chase the robbers. You can see the body here with the vehicle and charms recovered."

Bassey, who said despite their loss, the operation was successful, attributed the success to the recent charge given to police divisions and formations by the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Henry Fadairo, who had directed that they tracked down the armed robbers that had been terrorising Calabar residents.

He urged members of the public not to hesitate in giving the police useful information, adding that security was a collective responsibility.

Fuel Scarcity Hit Lagos...rising exchange rate blamed

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Entrances to many filling stations in Lagos and other parts of the country remained shut to motorists on Sunday following a sharp drop in the supply of petrol to the market.

Findings by revealed that oil marketers were no longer interested in importing the product mainly because of the rising exchange rate of the dollar to the Naira.

The other factors responsible for the marketers' action are delayed subsidy payments and rising interests on loans from banks.

An official of a major marketing firm, who declined to have his name in print, said, "I am afraid that we cannot continue to import petrol because it costs more now to do so owing to the recent devaluation of the Naira. The rising amount of petrol subsidy arrears payable to us coupled with the high interests on loans   from financial institutions, are still major issues in our hands."

Another marketer told one of our correspondents that an exchange rate of N226 per dollar was demanded on import duties contrary to the inter-bank exchange rate of N198 posted on the website of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency for the pricing template of PMS approved on February 19, 2015.

The major marketers import close to 60 per cent of petrol consumed in the country while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation imports the balance.

Our correspondents observed on Sunday that the states hit badly by scarcity of petrol were Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Bayelsa, Ondo, Ekiti, Kaduna, Delta, Plateau, Akwa-Ibom.   Abuja, the nation's capital, appeared to be the worst hit by the shortage.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Lagos Zone, Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, said the depots did not have enough products   to serve filling stations   across the country.

"If there were enough to go round, tanker drivers, of course, would move products to the areas of need. Nigerians should not be surprised that this is happening now. It is really unfortunate," he said.

In Lagos, many filling stations did not sell petrol but those that were open for business had long queues of motorists to contend with.

Although their pump prices remained N87 per litre, black market operators sold 10 litres for N1,200, i.e N120 per litre.

Drivers of commercial buses capitalised on the situation to increase their fares.     For instance, fare for Ojodu-Berger to Magboro, which hitherto was N50, was   N100 on Sunday.

One motorist told one of our correspondents in Lagos that, "If our fuel finishes now, we will go and queue to get another fuel. Now that we have fuel, passengers would have to pay more until the situation improves.

It was a Herculean task   for motorists in   Sango-Ota, Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta in Ogun State to purchase petrol from the stations.

Although most of the stations sold petrol at the regulated price of N87 per litre, the Oando Filling Station in Ijoko, Ota sold it for N100.

A motorist, who bought from the said station demanded for and was issued a receipt which she forwarded to one of our correspondents.

FG Set To Construct More Dams To Aide Water Availability

The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe, has solicited for other funding sources outside the annual national budget to enable her ministry construct more dams across the country.

Ochekpe, who appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Water, made the request during the ministry's 2015 budget defence at the National Assembly in Abuja.

While highlighting the achievements of the ministry in 2014 based on the funds made available to it, the minister emphasised on the need to build more dams to meet up with the needs of the growing population.

Ochekpe was quoted as saying in a statement that the construction of additional dams would help conserve more water for irrigation farming, hydro power generation, as well as provide safe water for domestic and industrial uses.

According to her, the ministry has made impact on the Agricultural Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government through the provision of water from the existing dams for irrigation farming.

Ochekpe told the House members that water projects were capital intensive and solicited for other sources of funding to enable the ministry carry out its mandate.

She promised that the ministry would intensify efforts on the water sector reform with the support of stakeholders and its development partners.

The statement added that the committee and the ministry agreed, among other things, to explore alternative sources of funding, enact a legislation to give legal backing to the payment of water rates, and strengthen the utility boards and water corporations to generate revenue and to complete ongoing projects.

The Chairman, House Committee on Water, Mr. Aliyu Patigi, was quoted as decrying insufficient appropriation for the ministry.

He said that water was the key source of livelihood hence the amount appropriated for it should be increased.

Patigi noted that the ministry needed sufficient funds to implement projects under its purview and called on the appropriate authorities to further review its budget.

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, on Sunday alleged that security operatives supervised the destruction of his campaign billboards and posters in Zaria by suspected Peoples Democratic Party thugs.

El-Rufai, who is a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, said in a statement by his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, in Kaduna on Sunday that the suspected PDP thugs destroyed all visible campaign materials of the APC and replaced them with those of Governor Mukhtar Yero.‎
"Conscious of their unpopularity, the PDP is now displaying posters of Yero that feature pictures of the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
"It is seen as an admission that the PDP's own presidential candidate is not sellable to the electorate, but also a demonstration of the PDP's affinity for deception.
"In the said posters being paraded in the said axis, Yero is paired with Buhari while Malam El-Rufai is axed with a red ink," the statement read in part.
It added, "We will continue to play issue-based politics despite all deliberate attempts and mischief to taint our image and popularity before the good people of Kaduna State.
"Neither the tons of illicit money they are spending to bribe voters nor can the violent actions designed to intimidate and frighten citizens save the PDP in Kaduna State from the coming electoral humiliation.
"The people of Kaduna State are clearly tired of an incompetent, wasteful government that has proved incapable of leading, performing or delivering public services."

But Yero, also speaking through his Director-General, Media and Publicity, Malam Ahmed Mayaki in Zaria, said el-Rufai was becoming too desperate for power.
"We must not forget that we are only humans. God has already destined all things and it is only God that can give power to whomsoever He wishes. It is unnecessary to fight over power and politics cannot worth a single drop of the blood of any citizen," the governor added.

The Peoples Democratic Party has said President Goodluck Jonathan is ready to face Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) on March 28 for the presidential election.
The APC had alleged that both Jonathan and his party were planning to scuttle the elections as they were alleged not to be ready.
The opposition party claimed that both the President and the PDP were afraid that they would be defeated during the election.

But the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organsiation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, said that it would be foolhardy of anyone to say the President Jonathan was not ready for the elections.
He also debunked the claim that the ruling party and the President were sponsoring some lesser political parties to call for the shift of the elections, especially in the North-East.
Fani-Kayode said, "How can anyone say we are not ready for the elections? President Jonathan is ready to challenge General Buhari anyway because he's going to defeat him. We were ready for the last election and we are also ready for this one.
"We have people coming to this office every day to strategise and we also have our Legacy House for the election. Leaders of the party from the national chairman to other members of the National Working Committee are there"

Fani-Kayode also berated former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the spokesperson for the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who he said, were accusing him of many crimes, including bad health.
He said, "If anybody is to talk about ill health. They should talk about themselves and not about me.
"My name is Femi Fani Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short and I harbour no fear of violence and I do not take threats lightly. Neither do I fear for my life.
"Because I have never shed blood and I do not believe in violence, the angel of the Lord will strike that person dead before they point a gun at me in Jesus Name."

Meanwhile, the party has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their renewed solidarity and overwhelming support for President Jonathan.
