Now here's Micheal's new catch. Her name is Deola Smart (Yup we got her name), a beautiful lady who shuttles between London and Abuja and she's the daughter of popular Senator representing Kogi District, Senator Adeyemi Smart.

Deola's parents are very loaded and are mighty givers. They recently gave out hundreds of cars and well over 100 deep freezers to people in need as xmas gifts last month. Her Dad loves to give, and so does her mom. The gifts were shared between Kogi and Kwara State.

Micheal who is so happy to be dating Deola used her picture last week on his IG page where he captioned it, my Chic is hotter than yours, and abbreviated her name as DS. But no we didn't get our gist there, lol.


People in the know also say, Micheal is one of the reasons Tonto Dikeh has been flaunting her new relationship online to spite him, but won't be that careless to flaunt his picture online, so what happened between her and Micheal won't happen between her and her generous Mr X. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected assassins for allegedly agreeing to kill a London-based Nigerian.

It was learnt that the suspects agreed to carry out the deed after they were promised N300,000 by their client.

According to a report by Punch, it was learnt that the four suspects; Salami Afeez, Dare Akinyemi, Fatai Olunje and Taiwo Akinyemi; were apprehended in the Mushin area of the state on December 11, 2014, by operatives of the command's Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

Our correspondent learnt that a police detective had gone undercover as a prospective client to be able to locate the hideout of the suspects.

The police revealed that the suspected assassins were hired to kill a Nigerian, who resided in London and was planning to visit home.

The police added that the cop, who contacted the gang, wanted to be sure that the gang had guns, and therefore asked them to produce their weapons, which the gang allegedly did.

Our correspondent learnt that the detective, however, led the police to arrest the gang members in their hideout before they could carry out the operation.

Speaking with our correspondent, 23-year-old Afeez said their client promised to pay the gang N300,000 for the assassination. He, however, denied that they had always been assassins, adding that they were only enticed by the money.

He said, "The client had not told us who the victim was. What he initially told us was that there was an election operation which we would carry out for a politician. He asked me to get more people to handle it. So, I got the other gang members.

"We planned everything with the client, who we simply refer to as chairman, at a beer parlour on Awawu Street, Mushin. Later on, when we were arrested, we got to know that one of those people we were dealing with was actually a detective.

"It was not that I worked as an assassin. I stay on Mustapha Street, Mushin, with my family where I work as generator repairer. I am also a cult member. I was initiated into the Aiye cult last year October. It was the money that enticed us. The chairman promised to give us N300,000 for the job."

Also, Akinyemi, 31, said he was a drug trafficker before he was introduced to the gang. He added that he, however, had yet to partake in any operation with the members.

He said, "I stay in Mushin. I deal in drugs. It was Taiwo who said he had a group which wanted to carry out a lucrative operation, and I should be a part of it. I told them that I don't indulge in armed robbery, but they promised me a huge part of the money.

"On the day we were arrested, we were about collecting the N300,000 payment. Taiwo and I went to a hotel lounge in Mushin, and that was where the police arrested us. I have never killed before. This is my first time. We intended to spend the money for Christmas."

It was further learnt that the third suspect, 43-year-old Olunje from Ilorin, Kwara Sate, was the one who supplied the guns to the gang. It was gathered that Olunje, who worked as a local security man, bought the guns in 2006 without a licence.

Kareem, 37, who also hailed from Kwara, said he was deceived into going on the operation, because their client, who only named himself as Chairman, made them believe he was a well-to-do politician.

Our correspondent learnt that the police had recovered three rifles and a locally-made gun from the suspects.

The Police spokesperson, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that investigations were ongoing.

He said, "The suspects have confessed to the crime. Investigation continues on the matter."‎

The Lagos State Government has intervened in the case of the alleged rape of three-year-old girl, Chinansa (pseudonym).

The Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the state government would ensure justice for the victim.

This is coming as the suspect, Hamzat Afeez, who was on bail, had been rearrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

The PUNCH had reported on Tuesday how the victim was allegedly defiled by 25-year-old Afeez, a neighbour, on Remi Ogunjimi Street, in the Egbeda area of the state.

Chinansa, a kindergarten class pupil, said she reported the incident to her parents.

The victim's father, Okechukwu, had said his daughter's health had been affected by the incident and called for the help of the authorities.

Following the report, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Governor on Media, Tunde Abatan, said Orelope-Adefulire had already sent a delegation to the Gowon Estate Police Station to verify the report and visit the victim.

Our correspondent was told that the delegation was made up of officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Office of the Public Defender.

Abatan said, "The state government has intervened in the matter to make sure that justice is served. Yesterday (Tuesday), after your report came out, the deputy governor sent a delegation to the Gowon Estate Police Station and they also visited the victim's parents."

In a separate interview, the Director of OPD, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, who was part of the delegation, said the state would be taking over the case to ensure the matter was diligently prosecuted.

She said, "We have investigated the case and the state is taking it over. We will be working with the police to make sure it is diligently prosecuted. We have also visited the parents of the girl."

The Executive Director of a non-governmental organisation, Project Alert on Violence against Women, Mrs. Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, criticised the attempt by the police to turn the case against the parents of the victim.

She said the police lied that the victim's father, Okechukwu collected N40, 000 to settle with the suspect, whereas it was an arrangement the station foisted on him.

She said, "The police lied to the officials of the state government that the father of the victim collected money from the suspect and did not show interest in prosecuting the case. The state government had ordered that their two children be taken into custody, until we explained the true position of things to the officials.

"The act was committed on December 13, and by December 17, the police released the suspect on bail when they knew the stance of the state government on rape. Even the victim's father said the money was first given to the police."

Effah-Chukwuma said after she listened to three-year-old Chinansa's account, she was left in shock.

"Even the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the SCID was dismayed and almost fell from his chair. It was terrible. We have advised the couple to relocate temporarily from the area for their safety and that of their children," she added.‎

LAGOS will today be at a standstill, as Nigerians from all walks of life storm Tafawa Balewa Square for the kick-off of President Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign.

The first in the series of campaigns for the re-election bid of the president in February 14 will see Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful, state executives, party executives from the national to state and local government levels, loyalists and members in attendance.

President Jonathan is expected to, at the event, not only declare his manifesto to Nigerians for votes and why he remains the best choice for Nigeria, but will also reel out his achievements as basis for his decision to run for a second term.

The event further affirms the commencement of the season of campaigns in the run-up to the general election, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, had, on Tuesday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, kicked off his presidential campaign.‎

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday condemned some politicians parading themselves as statesmen and senior citizens whereas, they are by their utterances, "ordinary politicians and motor park touts."

He said such politicians could not be described as statesmen because of the big offices they occupied before but by virtue of what they brought to bear on the nation.

Jonathan spoke while playing host to a delegation of the Tanko-Yakasai-led Northern Elders Council in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Although the President did not mention names, former President Olusegun Obasanjo had on Monday said Nigeria was facing economic problems due to the failure of the present administration to plan for a rainy day.

Obasanjo had told Iyalodes and eminent women leaders from the South-West, who visited him at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, that the nation's reserves which as of 2007 stood at $67bn had been depleted by the Federal Government.

The former President had earlier written an open letter to Jonathan in which he accused him of tribalism, condoning corruption and training snipers.

But a visibly angry Jonathan told the Northern elders that   some people were hiding under big names to create problems for the country.

Jonathan also said that such people were in the habit of making unguarded statements with the aim of creating enmity.

The President said, "Some people call themselves statesmen but they are not statesmen, they are just ordinary politicians.

"For you to be a statesman, it is not because you have occupied a big office before but the question is what are you bringing to bear on the nation?

"Are you building this country? Or are you a part of the people who tell lies to destroy this country; to create enmity and make people who ordinarily would have been living together to fight themselves?

"Are you planning to set the country ablaze because you did not get that particular thing you want?

"At the appropriate time, Nigerians will know all of them even though I know most of such people. The younger ones do not know.

"Some people, including those with big names, are hiding under some clogs and creating a lot of problems in this country.

"They are making provocative statements that will set this country ablaze. How can someone tell   me that such people are   senior citizens. They are not   senior citizens and they can never be. They are ordinary motor park touts.

"If you are a senior citizen, you will act like one. It is not because of the offices we occupy, it is by divine grace and providence that some of us occupy these offices. But what role are you playing to build this country?"

Jonathan also used the opportunity to assure the delegation that he was not against the Northern part of the country.

He said whenever he heard about such accusation, he always turned to Vice- President Namadi Sambo who is from the North to ask if, indeed, he is anti-North.

The President listed his Principal Secretary, Hassan Tukur, and   his Chief Detail simply identified as Yusuf, as some of his close aides from the North.

Jonathan said because of his background,   he believed that the only thing that could liberate individuals was education.

He said that was why he insisted that nine out of the 12 new federal universities be located in the North.

Jonathan said, "I used to tell Nigerians that I come from a background people refer to as the Talakawas; I come from that level and I am here today talking to Alhaji Jimeta because I went to school.

"And I said the only thing that can liberate an individual or a group of individuals is education. If I had not gone to school, I wouldn't have been here to talk to big people like these.

"If you didn't go to school, you wouldn't have spoken the way you spoke, you would have looked for somebody to interpret. This is what I believe. I don't play politics with it. It has been my policy that I don't play politics with education.

"When I came on board, I said even though as a country we have the policy on paper, every state must get a Federal Government university.

"Out of the 12 federal universities created, nine of them are in the North while three are in southern Nigeria. The only three states that had no federal university were Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Ekiti.

"Those who were in charge of the university establishment were not fair. For us to liberate ourselves, we must go to school. If I hate the North, would   I have done that?

"We talk about Almajiri education, we felt we must change. Luckily, we initiated it but now state governments are keying into it.

"I know that it was education that liberated me. I would have been a local canoe builder like my father and grandfather. But I am here because of education and I feel if we must liberate Nigerian children whether they are from Zamafara, Bayelsa, Kebbi or Delta state, they must be educated. I feel we must enter the North by aggression through education.

The President also referred to a newspaper publication (not The PUNCH) which, he said, indicated that the Federal Government awarded a few projects for the North-East and a chunk for the South-South.

He said he had reproduced copies of the publication and distributed them to   ministers with a directive to ascertain whether indeed projects were skewed in favour of a particular geopolitical zone.

Jonathan added that he directed the ministers that if the report was indeed true, they must explain the reason(s) to him.

He said despite all the negative campaigns against him and his government, he would not cheat any part of the country.

The President said, "For the people who want to paint us in all kinds of colour, we will explain to Nigerians. There are a lot of documentations we will show Nigerians.

"Let me reassure you that this administration is working with your sons and daughters; we will not exploit any part of this country; we will not cheat any part of this country."

Jonathan also stressed the need for peace and unity in the country, saying there could be no development without the two factors.

He said he was saddened that young Nigerians were seeing the country as a divided one.

The President said, "I feel sad that our younger ones are beginning to see Nigeria as if we are so divided. A Nigeria that a Muslim and a Christian cannot sit down together.

"I was told that the driver of the late Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, was a Christian. Our people lived together in those days. Why not now that we have even modern ways of life?

"Any country that its citizens see themselves through their tiny tribal enclaves cannot go anywhere."

Yakasai had in his remarks said   it was important for all Nigerians   to appreciate the fact that the country was crafted in such a manner that no one section   could rule without the support of the other.

He recalled that it was the North   that endorsed the principle of power shift which brought about the Presidency of Obasanjo and Jonathan.

He said it behoved on all Northerners and indeed, other Nigerians to continue to respect the principles of democracy.

Yakasai said, "Northern Elders Council believes in peaceful co-existence and extension of hands of fellowship to brothers and sisters from the other side of the nation.

"It is unpatriotic for anybody to instigate people against any person or peoples because of a temporary gain.

"Politics of insult, blackmail and castigation of individuals will not take this country anywhere.

"We therefore believe in peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and by working together shall we move the country forward."‎

The Oyo State police command on Wednesday arrested a lorry conveying ballot boxes said to belong to the Independent National Electoral Commission around 2am in the Yemetu area of Ibadan.

The ballot boxes were stored in a 40-feet container.

Sources said that the trailer was arrested on the suspicion that it was carrying contraband items but was later discovered that its contents were ballot boxes meant for the next month election in Osun State.

It was learnt that the trailer and the consignment were later released after police investigation revealed that the boxes were being transported to Osun State by INEC.

However, the arrest created anxiety in political circles as politicians made effort to know if the boxes were empty or stuffed with ballot papers.

At a point, rumour spread in the city that a certain political party had connived with INEC to bring in thumb-printed ballot papers into Oyo State.

A source said, "A trailer carrying a 40-feet container with registration number FKJ 285 XN was actually impounded by the police but after a thorough check, it was cleared and released."

The spokesman for the Oyo State Police Command, Mr. Kayode Ajisebutu, could not confirm the incident. He said he was outside the state and could not get through to the Commissioner of Police.‎

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has said that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) will create 20,000 jobs in each state of the federation.

Osinbajo said this in Osogbo City Stadium on Wednesday while addressing crowd of supporters of the party at the end of a 10 kilometer walk, tagged "Walk for Change Nigeria."
He lamented the massive youth unemployment in the country, saying the APC government would address this immediately if Buhari was voted in as the president in the February election.

He said, "We would provide 20,000 jobs in each Nigerian state when we are elected.
"We will revive our agricultural sector by providing ready-made market for farmers and encourage them, as the government would be purchasing their farm produce.

"Our government would also engage in feeding of our primary school pupils with free lunch across the country, just as we will embark on massive road construction.

"The elderly and the physically challenged would also not be left out, as our government would be giving them allowances."

Osinbajo said that the party had a strong believe that its presidential candidate would be voted into power, while assuring Nigerians that they would not be disappointed.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola, while addressing the crowd, challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to come out for a debate to defend himself on how he had run the country.

He said that Jonathan had not done anything to make Nigerians to re-elect him.

Aregbesola stated that the President had fallen out of favour even from among the cleric, while drawing the attention of the people to the advice of Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka asking Jonathan to resign.

Aregbesola urged Nigerian to troop out and effect change through their votes in the February 14 election.

He said Buhari had resolved to turn around the fortune of Nigeria for better, saying the PDP-led government had nothing to offer the country other than to increase its level of corruption and impunity which must not be allowed by Nigerians.
The governor urged those who were yet to collect their voter cards to do so for the purpose of "kicking the PDP out of government."‎

The Peoples Democratic Party has tasked the All Progressives Congress to come out clean and explain to Nigerians, their connections with the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday said the explanation became necessary following the statement by MEND backing their Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement said, "What exactly does APC have in common with MEND? Why do they want to resurrect it? Nigerians want to know.

"Are we also expecting a similar statement from insurgents in the north, who initially named General Buhari to lead the dialogue between them and the Federal Government?

"Nigerians are indeed worried by these developments. We therefore urge the APC to come out clean and explain to the citizens what they have in common with these groups, especially given the statement by their flag bearer, after the 2011 elections, that the 'dogs and baboons will all be soaked in blood.'" ‎
