One of the commissioners of the governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dennis Idahosa, Commissioner for Investment and Public/Private Partnership, on Friday, January 30, defected to the ruling party.

Idahosa cross-carpeted to the PDP alongside some leaders of the APC in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the State.

While being received into the PDP by the Dan Orbih, the state Chairman, Idahosa stated that he would resign as commissioner after the defection process was completed.

The commissioner disclosed that he left the opposition party because of constant criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan and Edo elders by Gov. Adams Oshiomhole.

He added that he would immediately join forces with PDP in the state to gather support for the re-election of President Jonathan.

"The reason I am joining PDP is that I don't agree with the way Oshiomhole abuses our elders and President Jonathan. I stand to support President Jonathan for the presidency."

Idahosa said more serving commissioners in Oshiomhole's cabinet have expressed willingness to join the PDP, adding that the party would exploit the failures of Oshiomhole's administration to its benefit.

I’m contesting against two andhalf people –Jimi Agbaje mocks Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has berated chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for maligning him.

He spoke at the party's rallies, which took place in Amuwo and Apapa local government areas.

"E be like say dis governorship election, na two-and-half people Jimi Agbaje dey contest against", he stated in pidgin, referring to public attacks launched against him by APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babatunde Fashola and their candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Describing Tinubu as the puppeteer of the two others, Agbaje said it was strange to be described as too old by people in the same 50s age bracket as himself, especially as their party presented a 72-year old as its Presidential Candidate.

Agbaje said the government was lashing back at him for exposing the cases of impunity and weakness in the administration of Lagos State.

According to Agbaje: "To do well is our children passing their exams. To do well is for poor people to have houses they can afford. To do well is for people to have a suitable environment to practice their trades and run their businesses. Whether they worked hard or not is not the issue. They have worked hard but they have failed.

"This election, this one, God has given it to us. They cannot continue. To continue is when you have passed. Have they passed or failed?" to which the huge crowd yelled "Failed!"

Agbaje said the recent spate of attacks on his person were a reflection of desperation on the part of the APC.

Speaking to a crowd at the rally ground opposite FESTAC Gate, Lagos, Agbaje used the opportunity to reply Fashola's tirade that the he was a tax evader, too old to be Governor and that he lacked experience in public office.

"This election is not about experience but qualification. 'Jimi Agbaje no get experience for political office, but e qualify,' the candidate added in pidgin.

The crowd cheered as Agbaje reminded them that his critics also lacked public service experience before they took over the reins of power in the state.

"They even talk about experience. They say I don't have government experience. Tinubu was just a Senator for three months before becoming Governor. For me what is most important is qualification and I am eminently qualified to be the Lagos Governor," he added.

According to him, the experience that Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode could lay claim to had been rubbished in the two public debates at which the two contestants met, one organised a fortnight ago by the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church and another last week by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"One by one, I go give them T.K.O.," he joked.

Dismissing the tax evasion allegations levelled against him Wednesday by Fashola, Agbaje said: "Yesterday, dem say Jimi Agbaje na tax evader. But as God dey catch person, just recently, na im dem send me congratulations say I dey pay my tax well-well."

He made reference to a letter of commendation written by the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Ayo Gbeleyi.

Describing all the allegations as unwarranted and malicious, Agbaje said: "My prayer be say as dem dey throw mud for my body, e no go stick to me. E go backfire!"

Addressing the salient issues bedevilling the administrating of Lagos State, Agbaje acknowledged the hardship occasioned by several policies of the government.

He assured non-indigenes that discrimination against them, their interests and their businesses would dissipate as soon as he came to power.

Contesting the government's claim that Lagos was overcrowded and that a policy to manage the influx of strangers would be established, Agbaje said: "Trying to deport strangers from other states is like trying to stop the flow of a river with your hand. Is it possible?"

Agbaje also promised that the notorious Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be rebranded, not scrapped, saying, the problem with the agency was that it had derailed from its statutory duty of traffic management to imposing draconian fines on motorists in order to generate funds for the government.

A vote for Buhari will be a vote for autocracy – Igbo Leaders of Thought
He also said that as part of his human-face policies, 'okada' (commercial motorcyclists) would be taken into consideration in formulating policies concerning their operations.

Mad man Invades Church, Disrupts Service

No comments :

It was pandemonium when a 'mad man' dressed and swaddled in multi-coloured fabrics saun-tered in the worship centre of Glory Chapel of the Redeem-ed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Agbelekale, Abule Egba, Lagos, last Sunday sending choristers, members of the church scampering in every direction seeking safe haven.
Vanguard reports that the middle-aged man bran-dishing a heavy stone in his right hand and a tiny piece of freshly sawed piece of wood from a nearby carpenter's workshop was said to have walked out of the church almost immediately but made a return bid, this time with ferocious campaign just as the parish pastor, Pastor Ladi Akinsanya was telling the congregants about a special guest minister.

The entry of the 'mad man' interrupted the announcement as worshippers made for any and every escape route out of the church. Sensing the mood of the church, a middle-aged man simply identified as Baba Dominion was said to have taken a bold step and grabbed the 'mad man' from behind creating an opportunity for another to disarm him.

Pastor Akinsanya intervened at this moment, screaming; "Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord" and "Amen, Amen, Amen" interm-ittently obviously trying to calm down the congregation su-ggesting that the "mad man", as it turned out an evangelical drama minister, was one of the special guests expected to minister at the service.

It took quite a while for me-mbers of the church to settle down to listen to the mini-stration of the "mad man" who immediately capitalized on the confusion to begin preaching, saying "all sins are like mad men before God and just you all were running from me, so God Almighty will detest all sins including female who deliberately entice men via the exposition of their bodies, on the last day."

He stressed the need for all those who are called by the name of Jesus to be prepared at all times, for the trumpet might sound any moment, stressing that only those who are blameless will be raptured and will reign with the Lord.

After the ministration, the outgoing pastor in charge of RCCG Place of Refuge Area, Pastor Kola Ajiboye who had come to introduce his replace-ment, Pastor Gbenga Adesan-ya to the congregation, prayed for the members and called on them to cooperate with his replacement, adding that it was imperative for him to go so that Elisha would begin his ministry.

One Mrs. Grace Okpara, has cried out against her Lebanon bosses in Ibafo, Ogun state.

37-year-old Grace, who worked as a cleaner at a logistics company in Ibafo, where Lebanese couple ─ Joseph and Hala Yasbek ─ are members of the management, claimed she was dragged on the floor by her bosses during an argument, reported the matter at the Ibafo Police Division.
She told Punch Newspaper: "I work as a cleaner at the Lebanese company, and I earn N20,000 as salary. The incident happened on January 14 at about 11.30am. We were three working as cleaners in the company.
"That day, Hala said I did not clean the premises very well, but as I tried to explain, she kicked me and I fell. Minutes later when the husband showed up, I reported Hala to him, but he also slapped me.
"I fell ill after the incident and went to the hospital for treatment. I was treated at a private hospital in Ibafo. I was discharged on Thursday and then went to report to the police. The fee for my treatment was paid by the police at Ibafo."
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident saying, "The two Lebanese were invited, and we have asked them to come back with officials of the company. The Lebanese husband explained that it was the complainant who wanted to hit his wife, and he had to block her (Grace) by pushing her away.
"The fact is that the two parties had been having conflicts for some time.
"It is not a matter of assault alone. We are trying to mediate between them.
"But if the woman feels she had been so badly maltreated, the police can charge the matter to court."

A pastor in Taraba has been strangled by unknown men while returning from pastoral duties.

Joshua Adah, a married father of two children aged 8 and 6, was said to have been murdered unknown assailants at Chediya area in Wukari LGA of the state on Friday, January 23.
A police spokesman, Joseph Kwaji reportedly told newsmen pastor Adah was strangled where his car broke down along the way.
ASP Kwaji said: "The pastor's car broke down at Chediya on his return from Kogi. He then phoned his mechanic at Jalingo to help him fix the car. When the mechanic arrived, the two men agreed to hire a vehicle at nearby Dan Anacha, which would toll the car to Jalingo."
According to Kwaji, 'the mechanic upon return to the scene could not find the pastor', adding that 'after a thorough search, his body was found in the area'.
However, reports from Morning Star news says Pastor Adah was found to be butchered by Fulani herdsmen.
According to the news site, Adah's wife reportedly confirmed her husband was 'mercilessly hacked to death' by Fulani herdsmen.
It was also reported that the late pastor was returning from his mission station in Bantaje, a village near Jalingo, from an evangelistic outreach to some villagers when his car broke down.
A member of Pastor Adah's ministry had told reporters that some armed, ethnic Fulani cattlemen had invaded area Christian communities last week.
"A few kilometers from Jalingo, he had car issues along the Wukari-Jalingo road, he was mercilessly hacked to death by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram,"  the church member said.
Pastor Adah's pastoral ministry is known for its enormous contribution to communities in Taraba, providing education, medicine and clothing to thousands of impoverished people.
The remains of the deceased pastor has been deposited at a mortuary in Wukari, while a full investigation into his murder has commenced.

What really went wrong -Eedris Abdulkareem reveals why Remedies broke up

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

A re-union is said to be in the offing for Nigeria's pioneer pop group, The Remedies made up of Eedris Abdulkareem, Tony Tetuila and Eddy Montana. The trio ruled the Nigerian music scene in the late 90s, paving the way for the urban music industry Nigeria has today.

In an interview yesterday, Eedris, known as the most vocal member of the group since inception, opened up on what really went wrong with the group which led to its eventual break-up.

'Actually, it was nothing serious and at the same time, it was serious (laughs). We did 29 shows during the Rothmans Groove Tour and the three of us were sharing the money that was paid, and it got to a level where we now looked at each other like 'Omo wetin you dey contribute for this group sef,' it didn't come from me, it was one of the other two.

'Then the next thing that followed was (that) attitude changed and sadly, I was very close to both Eddy and Tony, so one day Tony came to me and complained that he's not cool with everything going on, so I advised him that sooner or later whether he likes it or not, everybody will go solo so (he should) be prepared. I knew it was going to happen so I told him to move closer to Plantashun Boyz and he bought the idea immediately, and immediately we got back to Lagos, they recorded 'Omode Meta.'

'When the song dropped, Eddy came to me and was like have I heard the song and I was like yea, no be so you want am, so na me and you remain now (laughs) and when it was time for us to go solo we went solo.'

The group is now making efforts to come back with a joint album this year, Eedris said, adding: 'We all sat down, talked about our mistakes, faults and we are ready to move on, now we are good and we are working together on a joint album now and it'll drop this year by the grace of God.'

How Don Jazzy Hurt Me -D’banj Spills ”The Truth”

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

Earlier this week, Music star, D'banj opened up on why he quit the Mo'Hits Records and how fellow artiste, DR Sid further fueled the split – well he has said more.

Here are highlights of the 2nd part of the interview he had with Olisa Adibua:

1. D'Banj said that Don Jazzy told him that whenever he hears his (D'Banj's) voice on the radio he always changes the station, That statement, D'banj said, was very hurtful. It hurt him so bad that he left his house and sought refuge in a hotel and then moved on to South Africa.

2. He never expected Oliver Twist to be such a huge hit and was in South Africa when it blew up in London and he had to rush over there. He believes the song's sudden success was God's way of taking him away from all the drama back home in Nigeria.

3. The deal with Kanye West was not completed at this stage however Kanye was so impressed with the song that he agreed to make an appearance in the video. As Kanye is an 'action man' as D'Banj calls him, they shot the video straight away while still in London.

4. D'Banj knows that everyone wants him and Don Jazzy to work together again and thinks there is a possibility of that happening, if the price is right. He bumped into Don Jazzy in America and they discussed the possibility of a reunion, a business reunion. Don Jazzy told him that it would have to be for the right money for that to ever happen.

5. 'A friend in need is a burglar in the future' was D'banj response to Olisa's question on if the duo would get back to being friends – read into that what you may!

6. In response to questions about his public support of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, D'Banj vehemently refuted suggestions that he had been paid for the interview. He stated that he had himself requested the interview and that he felt that it was the right thing for him to do as a man and citizen of Nigeria. He admitted that he got paid, but for his work as a musician.  He felt that the backlash he got at that time was unfortunate as he was put through 'heat, fire and hell'. He wouldn't be tied down to answering whether he would do the same again this time round as he is 'unavailable' right now and travels a lot.

7. The conversation between D'Banj and Olisa became very heated when Olisa started questioning D'Banj on the state of his career since Oliver Twist and it seemed that a 'raw nerve' had been touched.

8. He strongly denied allegations that he did not write Top of the World and said it was a big hit which he really loves and questioned Olisa on who determines what makes a big hit anyway and if his show is The Lie not The Truth.

9. D'Banj insisted that he had had great success since leaving Mo'Hits. He won awards, traveled the world, had the highest downloaded song in 2013 and reached the point where he wanted to expand and do something new. He made clear that that just because he hasn't been spending all his time in Nigeria doesn't mean that he has not been successful.

10. Denied that his new song 'Feeling the Nigga' was written for Akon and that he made a cameo appearance in it. Said that Akon is in the remix and that they are both his songs. D'Banj became very irate at Olisa's insinuations and threatened to walk out of the interview if he didn't admit that the song was his.

11. Olisa asked what happened with D'Banj's Koko mobile phone and why it hasn't been seen in the market but he refused to go into this topic in any depth. He said that the phone sold out and hinted at a deal with Apple which he cannot talk much about due to contractual limitations.
He also has a deal with Beat's by Dre and the headphones will be released soon (hopefully by Easter) in Africa.

12. Olisa asked D'Banj about the various rumours, allegations and court actions against him claiming that he has unpaid debts amongst other things. D'Banj said that he has been advised by lawyers to not speak about this in detail but made it very clear that he doesn't owe anybody any money.
Financially, the past two years have been some of his best years, despite Olisa trying to allege that he has not been successful during this time.

13. He dismissed the people that have left him and no longer want to work with him and said that the people that left were not meant to be there in the first place.
He revealed that he had recently had a friend/business associate arrested because he found out that one of his investments was mismanaged to the cost of around $2m. The person had gone behind his back and committed fraud but said the police is now dealing with the matter. He advised young people who are going into business to be very careful with documents and make sure that all papers are always properly signed.

14. He refused to answer any questions about women or his personal relationships as it has gotten him in too much trouble in the past and also refused to give a clear-cut answer as to whether he had a relationship with Genevieve.

Dele Momodu Believes Buhari Won't Just Win The Presidential Polls But By A Wide Margin

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

In the past weeks, one of the forefront titans who have taken the campaign of Buhari upon himself is veteran Journalist, Otunba Dele Momodu. In a recent interview, he bared his mind on the election especially why he thinks President Goodluck Jonathan should be voted out...

"For a man with that kind of background similar to mine, he should have been president of the people. Jonathan became an elitist president and the moment you are elitist in nature, outlook in attitude, you are bound to fail. Nigeria requires a selfless leader and reduces personal comfort for overall comfort of the people. The moment you gallivant all over the world, drive special jets, go to Jerusalem with entourage of people and people are lying to you that you are the best thing that ever happened to Nigeria, what nonsense.

The mistake he made was that he did not come as a leader who was ready to serve his people. You look at their budget in a year they are budgeting billions for food in Aso rock. If the president is ready to downgrade his personal lifestyle, you will see that people will follow him", Momodu said.

He went further "The key element of leadership is trust. If you are coming to Lagos, you lock down everywhere; you cannot be a man of the people, you cannot see anything and that is why the Benin-Ore road they are making noise about is still useless. They have repaired some parts of it but did not do it all the way to Sagamu. Jonathan does not see all these because when he moves, they shield him.

Look at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the most important road linking the heartbeat of Nigeria to the rest of Nigeria. The PDP has not been able to complete it in the last 16 years. There is headway in the railway, looking at Sijuade and the rest, but the government must be more serious than ambitious. If you just want to do one rail from Lagos to Kano then make it the best quality. When are we going to start doing quality projects?

Look at the international airport, the first point of contact with foreigners. I will expect the renovations that they are shouting about. I do not know how much it cost but the airport is one of the worst in the world today and that is why I took some pictures to show the world.

If I were in his shoes I would have merged all the universities so that it will reduce the overhead cost. In those days, University of Ife started from University of Ibadan. The Adeyemi College of Education was in Ondo but under University of Ife. If that is done we will have a single vice chancellor manage them well and standardize them.

I was made to know education is the bedrock of any great nation. Any nation where you do not make education as priority, you are going to have glorified illiterate. If we switch to economy, to create jobs is not difficult. It is for you to reduce cost of running government. If you reduce cost of running government you will be able to use money for the health of the nation. He should approach the National Assembly and tell them he is reducing the cost of running the government by 25 per cent or 50 per cent. If the National Assembly sees that he has reduced the cost by 25 per cent and plead with them to reduce the cost and they say no, then we will now take them to the court of the public. But when they see you are living lavishly, you cannot tell others not to do so.

The cost of running the Federal Government is outrageous. Imagine Nigeria wanting to go and borrow $1billion to fight Boko Haram. If corruption is reduced you will see that Nigeria will be top all around the world because we are the most brilliant people in the world. If it is seen that we have a good president, people will come back home to be among the best in the world. I interacted with them – our military as far back as 2001 in Sierra Leone, later in Liberia. As a matter of fact, Nigerian military was controlling 10 out of 15 states in Liberia. They were well equipped, motivated, well protected. Until that is done we are going to continue having the security situation. Our secret service has been politicized. I have never seen where FBI, CIA……..They should be well equipped so that they can carry out their job of spying, which is one of the important jobs in a country. That is why in France when the enemy strikes before 24 hours, they are tracked. Our men can do it but everything in this country has been politicized. We now have to choose based on ethnicity. Nigeria has brilliant people who can lead this country.‎"

When asked why he was supporting Buhari being a former Presidential candidate himself, he had this to say..."Well, the mood of the nation favours a change in our state of affairs. The average Nigerian, except maybe those who are profiting from the government, believes that government has not performed. So I have looked at the political situation, based on my vast experience working with late Chief M.K.O Abiola, working with Chief Olu Falae, and working for myself and I can see that the only way to dislodge the PDP is if we all join forces. I'm not a member of the APC, I'm a member of the National Conscience Party and I never thought a day would come when I won't support my own presidential candidate. But the reality on ground is that we have to face the reality.

I now know what it takes to win a presidential election. I went through it. All the idealism that I had has evaporated. I was one of those who felt that Nigeria was ready for change in 2011. They would look at the track records, merits and they could see that I was one of the best candidates that was available in the country but the truth is that it takes much more than your personal character, achievement, popularity to win a presidential election and that is why I'm humble enough to say enough of contesting and let me find one of the candidates who has the ideals that I had in 2011. Unfortunately, I can't find any other person than Buhari. It does not mean Buhari is a saint; it does not mean Buhari does not have his own faults because he's human being and we are all mortals. But if I have to choose between Buhari and Jonathan, I will go for Buhari.‎"

He further disclosed that Buhari's wining would be an overwhelming one: "Oh, I have no doubt that General Buhari is set to create an upset in Nigeria's political configuration.

Despite the violence-free peace pact signed in Abuja by President Jonathan, Buhari and others, there are still cases of electoral violence. Do you see a violence-free election in February?

Oh, we can. What usually happens is that once a particular candidate is overwhelmingly popular and the mood of change permeates the entire society, it becomes difficult for people to fight because it becomes oblivious that one candidate was more popular than the other. That's what happened in 1993. Nobody fought when Chief Abiola won. People expected that there was going to be violence, but there was no violence because it was clear that Abiola was way ahead of Tofa. How will you fight when your own people are supporting your opponent?

If Buhari wins this election, it is not going to be a close election because he is going to win by a wide margin. Jonathan's supporters who think they can fight now, by that time, it would have dawn on them that even in their own village, Buhari has supporters and in situations like that who are you going to fight?"

Why I Gave My Presidential Ambition To Buhari -Tinubu

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu on Friday, during the party's Presidential campaign rally in Lagos State disclosed that he sacrificed his Presidential ambition for the party's chosen candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

This is what the jagaban borgu said,‎
"People define patriotism as putting the country first but this is what the 'Poverty Development Party' refuses to understand. We chose Buhari not because Bola Tinubu is not interested in the Presidency. I am capable, competent, qualified, younger and richer but there comes a time that people must make sacrifices for their nation," Tinubu said.

"I prayed that Nigeria would get better and we would not need a man like him (Buhari). But today, we are in a great crisis; we face a lot of challenges. When South Africa was in a great dilemma and was about to disintegrate, they called Nelson Mandela of 74 years old. He used his wisdom to save his country. When the United States was in economic depression, they called 73-year-old Ronald Reagan because he was frugal and incorruptible," he added.

"When America was faced with depression and war, they called a retired General, Dwight Eisenhower, to rescue the country and the country was returned on a path of success. "When France was faced with war and economic depression, they called a retired General, Charles De Gaulle, to rescue the country," Tinubu continued.

"So what do we need now? Buhari. This is the time for us. General Buhari, whether you are qualified or not qualified, we are calling you to come and rescue us in Nigeria," he concluded.

Why Afenifere Endorsed President Jonathan

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a chieftain of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organisation, gave the reasons the group endorsed the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. He claimed it was based on the groups conviction that he would implement the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference if he wins.

In his words , while speaking with Punch said, ‎
"Some other parties did not believe in the exercise. We have talked about the many problems confronting Nigeria but the main one is to restructure. We need to restructure the country.''

''When we talk about corruption, good governance and the reduction in the salaries of members of the National Assembly, among others, they were addressed in the report. That is why we are insisting on its implementation. This is our demand and he has promised to implement it because he believes in it," he noted.

Another Spokesman for the group, Yinka Odumakin, also told journalists in Akure, Ondo State after President Jonathan visited a leader of the group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, in his residence that Afenifere was endorsing Jonathan for a second term.

Yinka Adebakin said,
"Afenifere supports the President's re-election because he had the courage to convoke the national conference and we hope that he will implement the report.

"The President expressed the commitment that he will adopt the report within 12 months of returning to office".

Some constitutional lawyers have advised the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari to participate in the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON, organised election debate.

It would be recalled that the APC in a statement on Thursday, signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Garba Shehu, in Abuja, said that its candidates would stay away from the event because of the "unhidden bias" of the organisers of the programme against the corporate political interest of the party (APC).

However, a lawyer, Mr. Tayo Oyetibo, while speaking on Friday said, "There is nothing unconstitutional in presidential debates. Everybody has a freedom of speech, but the fact remains that the people need to know who their prospective or potential president is, by way of intellectual engagement.

"They can nominate their representatives to go on board, but they should not deprive Nigerians of their views on the crucial issues that will be informative to the people. I think it is in their interest for their candidate to participate."

He added that it is important that every candidate should face Nigerians.

"Nigerians want to know who their candidates are; they have been talking generally without being specific on issues. They should be able to expand their theory, conception, views, mission and vision.‎

"This is the opportunity to narrow down to specifics so that people can assess them. As at today, there are still a large number of voters that are undecided, whether they should vote for A or B," Oyetibo stated.

Also, another lawyer, Mr. Fred Agbaje said if Buhari boycotts the debate, it would only go on to show that he has no plans and solutions to the problems of the country.

Agbaje said, "I think he should have participated in that debate. Some of the questions might be embarrassing and he could tell them he would not answer them.

"He has to participate; majority of Nigerians will see it as if he is running away from it. It (boycotting) will further affect his political career because Nigerians will see it as if he does not have solutions to Nigeria's problem, or that he is arrogant."

Professor Itse Sagay, another lawyer, however, said Buhari has no legal obligation to appear for the debate, adding that President Jonathan did not appear for a similar debate in 2011 and the other candidates had the debate without him.

"Because of the lack of independence and objectivity, and the fact that they have their agenda, there is no reason why Buhari should subject himself to that sort of inquisition, because that is what it is going to be; it is going to be very unfair," Sagay said.
