Don't Dare Come To Nigeria For Buhari's Inauguration -NANS Warns Jacob Zuma Of South Africa

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has advised President Jacob Zuma of South Africa to stay away from the inauguration of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
The visibly angry students gave this warning following the the way President Zuma handled the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
The students have threatened to invade the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, should Zuma step into the country's airport.
They held that Zuma should stay away as his visit will be an insult to the sensibility of Nigerians over his alleged poor handling of the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other migrant foreigners in his country.
Disclosing this in a statement issued by its President, Tijani Usman, NANS noted that Zuma's inability to "apologise to Nigerians like he did to Mozambique", despite the sacrifices the country made for South Africa, was unfortunate.
According to the statement, "We wish to advise the South African President (Jacob Zuma) to rather stay at home and address burning issues, rather than embarking on a visit that is the least desirable.
"The South African President's failure to apologise to Nigeria for the losses the country and our citizens incurred during the xenophobic attacks on foreigners leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. There is therefore, no point felicitating with a people who clearly do not matter much to you. President Zuma's visit will only amount to pretence."

Usman in the statement reiterated NANS' earlier position that it will henceforth not hesitate to clamp down on South African investments in Nigeria should any incident of xenophobic attacks take place again in that country.

The election of a new Vice Chancellor for Enugu State University of Science and Technology,ESUT, which held last Monday, has elicited cries of injustice from the alleged winner, Prof. Denchris Onah.
Prof. Onah told Vanguard that he came first in the interview, although he tied with Prof. Luke Anike, prompting a news release from Government House, indicating that he (Onah) had been appointed the new VC.
He said:  "I tied at the first position with Prof. Anike. The governing council of the institution put me (Onah)in priority -No. 1- even though we tied.
''The Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Chilo Offia, had called me to congratulate me on my appointment, directing me to come to Enugu the following day,Tuesday, to pick my appointment letter.
"Government House had issued a news release announcing my appointment as the new VC. The news of my appointment was on Radio Nigeria from last Monday to Tuesday until the news changed at 6.00p.m. indicating that Prof. Luke Anike is the new VC.
"It is great injustice that has been done to me by announcing me first as new VC. If they had announced Prof. Anike first, I would have no problem with that, rather I will congratulate him.
"The argument they (Anike & co) canvassed before the governor changed my appointment was that the VC position was zoned to Enugu-East senatorial district.

Soldiers In Show Of Shame At Capital Oil, Beating People While Filling Their Drums With Petrol

Officials of the Nigerian Army on Monday took over the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil, buying petroleum products in drums, after scaring away thousands of consumers.
The armed personnel came in the guise of maintaining peace and order, but they soon abandoned their primary responsibility for fuel racket. They shoved, maltreated and sent away those who were on queue to be attended to, thereby gaining access to have their drums loaded with fuel.
As of press time, the unregistered white Isuzu truck they use for the 'deal' had visited the filling station for the fourth time.
The fourth truck was being loaded as of 8:50pm.
The vehicle, on each visit, left with at least 14 drums and dozens of gallons filled with fuel.
The helpless consumers, some of who slept at the filling station, suspected the soldiers were feeding the growing Lagos black market with the product.
The military officials who were fully dressed had taken over the only two pumps that dispensed the Premium Motor Spirit.
Those who protested the act were beaten and given scares on their bodies.
By 9pm on Monday, not more than a hundred cars left the station with fuel.
Besides the military, officials of the Nigeria Police Force and black market dealers took over the show while thousands of motorists who had crowded the place since 5am were abandoned.

An ex-vigilante boss, Uche has killed his girlfriend over a new born baby and bride price.
Leadership newspaper reports that trouble started when the suspect demanded custody of his baby without paying her mother's bride price and her parents refused to release the baby.
The suspect, who was a security man at her street in GRA, Onitsha, fell in love with the girl before he was sacked from the duty in December 2014.
Two days to her death, the suspect observed that the parents of the girl were not at home. When he visited their house and met the girl, he wanted to forcibly take the baby but she resisted.
He then collected all her clothes and those of the baby and proceeded to set them ablaze after which he left the house.
Two days later, he visited again and asked the girl to come for a discussion in the compound. As they were walking towards the gate, he turned round and brought out a gun and shot the girl in the chest and fled.
When neighbours came out to ascertain what was happening, they found the girl lying dead at the gate.

Ifeanyi Ubah - A Study In Betrayal ( Keep Your Fuel)

1 comment :

By Joseph Edgar‎
Look, me and some very reasonable people are not being carried away by this Ifeanyi UBAH's hemlock. His decision to release 13 million litres of fuel is nothing but crass betrayal and a childish attempt at populism in the face of imminent disgrace by the incoming government.
We are tired of this kind of symbolism, this is what has put us in this place of global mockery and national helplessness. How many filling stations does Uba have, what is the national fuel usage, he releases 15 days worth of fuel to the Nation and after that what next, we are still faced with the same issues that led to the strike in the first place.
Has he resolved his wahala with AMCON? Has he cleared himself of the fuel subsidy mess? Has he paid back Coscharis and other investors he has been owing. Abeg he is part of this problem and should go sit down with the union to engage government in a bid to finding lasting solution to the issue of subsidy and fuel supply in the country.
What Ubah is doing can lead to the inevitable destruction of the country. If unions decide to go on strike to bring to the fore the underlying and covered up issues of corruption, back handling, favoritism that has bedeviled not only the subsidy regiment but the whole gamut of the demystification of the petroleum industry and one person decides to break ranks and moves fuel, he should be arrested because he knows that by the time the country is on complete lockdown all the underground schemes would come up in the open.
To me, Ubah's move is aimed at scuttling the cleansing process this strike would have thrown up. He wants us to continue to be held to ransom by his ilk hence his decision to break rank so that the strike will collapse. This we must fight. We must reject his poisonous fuel. Let the strike continue. Let companies shut down, let there be no light, let there be no fuel, let schools, hospitals, radio stations all shut down. We are ready for the sacrifice, we will not die if the aim is to clean up the system and throw people like UBAH who have held us in contempt by their nefarious activities in the downstream sector into the dustbin.
The incoming Government should immediately engage the unions and assure them of their genuine desire to look critically into all the issues with a view to bringing lasting solutions to this matter. The outgoing Government have given themselves the last disgrace with this show of shame. They have prefabricated and run into their holes, we no longer are interested in them. Let the probes start, let Uba come out and tell us how he got his 13 million liters.
We are tired. We are tired. I don't want his fuel. He should go and dump them in the Lagoon.

A mobile policeman in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has shot a 34-year-old indigene of Bauchi State, Adamu Mohammed, over an argument on N2,000 unpaid fees for a menial job.
According to the family of Mohammed, who resides along the Bay Bridge Road area of Yenagoa, the state capital, the victim was shot last Tuesday at Erepa Road and dumped at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC.
While Mohammed's family claimed he was shot by the mobile policeman after argument with the woman who engaged him for the clearing of a portion of land close to her home at Erepa Road, residents who claimed to have witnessed the incident, said after the argument with the  woman over the right sum to pay for the job and Mohammed's squabble with a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, officer, the policeman shot him in the thigh to demobilise him.
Mohammed, who refused to file a formal complaint at the Police Station over fear of further harm by other policemen, accused the woman who awarded him the menial job of cheating.
Victim's story
Mohammed said: "We agreed on N3,000. But after I finished the work, she said she will pay N1,000. I got angry and she called in some policemen guarding the home of a senior police officer on Erepa Road.
"The first person that came was a Civil Defence man and he claimed I stabbed him, and the mobile policeman, without asking questions, shot me in the thigh."
The policemen, about three, on guard duty at the residence of the unidentified senior officer, pleaded with Mohammed's family to allow them raise money for his treatment and leave out formal complaint against them.
Meanwhile, Mohammed, according to the family, has been taken to Bauchi for traditional treatment.
Contacted, spokesman of the state Police Command, Asimi Butswat, said though he was not aware of any formal complaint by the purported victim, the action of the victim was suspicious and has the semblance of an armed robbery suspect.

The 53-year old, on Sunday, released a list of 15 overseas-based players invited for next month's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad, added to the 26 home-based players who are already in camp for the game.

"We've always wanted to work with the home-based players because they did a lot for us that time and we want to continue that," he said.
The 'Big Boss' has also called up Kingsley Madu, Rabiu Ibrahim, William Troost-Ekong, and Anderson Esiti for the first time, and he says they deserve the call-up.

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of Peoples Democratic Party on Monday approved the nomination of the former Acting National Chairman of the party, Dr Haliru Bello Mohammed, as its acting Chairman.
The Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, told State House Correspondents at the end of the BoT meeting in Abuja that Mohammed, who was the only nominee for the position, would act in that capacity until when a substantive BOT chairman is elected.‎
He said that very soon the party would convene a meeting where both the National Chairman and the BOT chairman would be elected.
He also said that the acting Chairman of the party, Chief Uche Secondus, would continue in that capacity until a substantive chairman was elected.
Mohammed also told the correspondents that he was very happy to accept the responsibility for the period to start the process of repositioning the party towards the 2019 general elections.
He said that the executive powers of the party still resided with the National Working Committee (NWC) while the BoT would act as the conscience of the party and advice the NWC on how to move the party forward.
"We are determined that we will pull our ideas.
"Most of what remains as the founding fathers of the PDP is in the BoT.
"Therefore we will make sure that we use their collective wisdom to also reach out to all our members in all the states of the federation so that we will bring the party back to the grassroots.
"We are sending this party back to the people and with what we have seen in the last 16 years our relationship with the people of Nigeria we are confident that the PDP will still remain the largest party in Africa and certainly the party of choice in Nigeria.
The Acting National Chairman, Secondus, in his contribution said the acting officials would collaborate with the party to take the party back to the grassroots.
"By so doing we are going to reinvent and reposition ourselves for the new position of PDP to provide vibrant, robust and constructive opposition.
The National Secretary of the BoT, Sen. Walid Jubrin, said the acting officials would be in office for about three months as the appointments were a temporary measure to reposition the party.
Jubrin said that President Goodluck Jonathan had declined to serve as the Acting chairman of the BOT which informed the nomination of Mohammed to fill the vacuum created by the resignation of the former chairman, Chief Tony Aneni.
He said the BOT and the NWC would sit down to take a decision on when to fix the convention of the party where substantive officers to occupy the vacant positions would be elected.

Troubled Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, has failed to show up in court in the suit to oppose his extradition to the United States to face drug-related charges.‎
Kashamu has locked himself in his home in Lekki Phase 1, in Lagos, since Saturday, May 23, when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency stormed his house to arrest him to fulfill a request by the US government for his extradition in connection with a 1994 drug case.
A statement released on Monday, May 25, by the Head, Public Affairs of NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed that the house of the politician had been condoned off until his appearance in court.
"The agency is working hard to ensure that he submits himself to the due process of the law. His house remains cordoned off by anti-narcotic officers pending his appearance in court."
"The extradition move by the NDLEA for Kashamu to answer drug trafficking charges is legal. The agency has not violated his rights and will continue to work within the confines of the law. He has been assured that due process of the law shall be adhered to at every stage."
"NDLEA is the appropriate government agency to implement his extradition request and will diligently pursue the processes to a logical conclusion. It is expected that Kashamu will willingly submit himself to the laws of the country under which he seeks to serve as a Senator."
