The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on Sunday conceded defeat to Sen. Jibrilla Bindow of the All Progressives Congress (APC).‎

Mr. Ribadu made his position known in a concession address to the people of the state.
He said: "My dear people of Adamawa State, I greet you in the best form of greetings. I had dreamt of coming back home to lead our dear state to greater strides after years of underdevelopment.‎
"I started this journey in August last year and successfully got the mandate of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) to fly its flag for the April 11 gubernatorial election. I came into this race knowing fully well that political contests are two-way traffics – one either wins or loses.‎
"As a man of faith, I was also aware that leadership responsibility is a product of God's anointment.
"In the course of this journey, I have seen genuine support and encouragement from the people of Adamawa State.
"Several individuals from Adamawa and beyond contributed generously to keep the campaign going and many others devoted their time, energy and intellect to see to the success of this project. I sincerely appreciate this belief in my person and my ambition.
"The support I got from my party's leadership and individual members from President Goodluck Jonathan down to the party agents in our polling units was overwhelming and gratifying.
"The party leader in the state, Barrister Bala James Nggilari and the state party chairman, Chief Joel Madaki led their lieutenants in making this journey memorable."

Ribadu said he had no choice than to accept the preference of the majority for Bindow.
He added: "I came into this race with lofty dreams and clear vision for our dear state, but the voice of the majority has not given me this chance. I take this in good faith.
"I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the winner and pray that at the end of it all our dear state will witness the needed progress and development it so much desires. God bless Adamawa State, God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

The Igbo in Lagos have appealed to Lagos State government and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, to put security measures in place to ensure the protection of their lives and property after the general elections.
The appeal came just as they demanded an apology from Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos over his comment that the Igbo would perish in the Lagos lagoon, in seven days, if they did not vote for his choice governorship candidate in yesterday's elections.

The Chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo in Amuwo Odofin local government area, Chief Akalika Emmanuel, explained that the call for the protection of life and property became necessary to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
Acknowledging the intervention of the president elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, and opinion leaders from Igbo and Yoruba land, Emmanuel stated that the Igbo had sheathed their sword in demonstration of their love for Lagos State, as well as their maturity and willingness to be each other brothers' keepers.
Nevertheless, he demanded that a documentary prove that such threat from Akiolu would not repeat itself be made available, adding that the property of Ndi -Igbo would not be unduly taxed nor demolished , no matter the direction of the victory o f yesterday's governorship election.
Continuing he said: "We also demand that our business premises and other matters of interest will not come under any form of intimidation now or in future".

Joseph Mbu believes that his threat to kill 10 people for every policeman killed was responsible for the peaceful conduct of Lagos state election.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, made the utterance on Saturday at the state's Command Headquatres after monitoring the election in some parts of the state with some journalists.

Mbu was asked of his opinion on what he thought was responsible for the peaceful conduct of the elections, and he replied saying: "Generally, people are becoming more and more mature, sensitive and reasonable."
He said: "And anyway, the statement I made, which generated a lot of (controversy); people misconstrued it all over, but that also helped the police because people say, 'this man has come o and whatever he says, he means it', and that also instilled fear in them. Go and check all the places where I have served, how many people have died? We don't kill that way. But you have to instill fear so that people will have more respect for the police."
"You know how police were perceived those days, but now police give orders and people say police cannot do anything. But with those few words (I said), people are now scared and say, 'if you misbehave, police are going to react'. Now we have succeeded as far as I am concerned."

The Military have allegedly killed four voters in Bayan Dutse Polling Unit, Ginga Ward, Suru Local Government of Kebbi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident to journalists.
"Yes, we have received report of the killings of four people allegedly killed by Soldiers and I will give you details of the killings as soon we conclude our investigation," he said.
The House of Representative-elect representing Suru/Bagudo federal constituency, Abdullahi Suru, also confirmed this to journalists.
He said the incident happened around noon on Saturday as accreditation was going on in the area which predominant has supporters of the All Progressives Congress.
"A serving Area Development Counsellor, Ahmed Sankezu, invited the soldiers to arrest some prominent elders in the area because he was earlier prevented from accessing the PU to perfect their rigging plan.
"The soldiers opened fire on the voters who challenged them from 'arresting' the elders," he alleged.
The Governorship candidate of the APC in Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, urged the voters in Kebbi to guard their votes.
Mr. Bagudu said he hopes to win the elections.
"Everyone is hopeful," he said.
While calling for a violence free election, Mr. Bagudu said "We have stressed numerous times during the campaign that we don't want anyone to get hurt for politicking.
"We want everyone to be obedient, cooperate with the security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission and more importantly to guard their rights. They should do what the law says.
"They should ensure that there is no thuggery and nobody takes away the mandate that they want to confer on whosoever they so desire."
Mr. Bangudu lamented the high rate of card reader failure but commended the significant improvement in the turnaround time per voter.
"We noticed that the turnaround time has improved significantly even though the failure rate of the card readers is still significant so the number of entries in the incident form is quite high.
"But we are pleased that the amount of time it is taking is lessened significantly and we hope that this will be less tedious and most people will be able to vote and the process will finish earlier than it did last time," said Mr. Bagudu.
Also, the Peoples Democratic Party flag-bearer in the state, Sarkin Yaki Bello warned against do-or-die politics in the state.
Mr. Bello commended INEC for the noticeable improvements in the voting process.
He said: "Remember last time my finger print could not be identified but today I am very impressed.
"The efforts of INEC are really commendable. I am sure that have learnt from the mistakes they may have made last two weeks.
"To me every process is a learning process. As you love forward you learn from what you have done and also improve upon them. So I believe INEC has learnt lessons and they have tremendously improved in terms of performance."
He expressed worry over voter apathy saying: "I can see there appears to be an apathy of voters' turnout.
"I urge the people to please come out enmasse and vote and I also enjoin them to be patriotic and vote the best candidate out of all of us who are vying for the position."
"I don't election to be a do-or-die politics. I mean, every military officer knows leadership is part and parcel of our training. Right from your first day in the Nigerian Defence Academy, you start learning about leadership.
"So leadership has many attributes. As a retired General it should not be a do or die affair. It should be the dividend, and delivery kind of machinery that must be able to inspire confidence in its followership, live in the fear of God and at least achieve results," said Mr. Bello.
