Buhari Wants To Commit Suicide -Vice President Sambo Throws Jab

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

Sambo has advised General Muhammadu of the APC not to commit suicide. He said this at the PDP Presidential Rally in Yola, Adamawae.

The vice president said his advice was against the backdrop of the advice given to Buhari by his presidential running mate to personally lead the war against Boko Haram if elected President in next month's presidential election.

Sambo urged Buhari to ignore the advice from the APC vice presidential candidate, adding that any attempt by Buhari to lead such war would amount to a "suicide mission" in view of his age.

According to him, the APC should allow President Jonathan to continue to adopt "a more scientific and modern" warfare in tackling the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency.

"I want to seize this opportunity to draw our attention to a publication, last week, credited to the vice-presidential candidate of the APC that their plan is to ask their presidential candidate, retired Maj-Gen. Buhari, to lead the war against Boko Haram.
"I want to ask you a question, a retired 73-year-old General – can he run? No!

"Okay, let's assume that he can run; how many metres can he run before he falls? The training of a General that retired in 1985 is it the same training that can address a modern war? No!

"Now we are fighting war with drones, with new ideas that our President, a PhD holder, a scientist that is using (his knowledge) to address the security issues of this country.

He described the paln as a suicidal proposal, asking "will he (Buhari) go with a suicidal proposal?"

The vice-president urged the electorate to support President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Jonathan was the answer to the nation's security and the answer to its development.

Fernando of Man City  has admitted he wants to learn from Nemanja Matic as the pair prepare to do battle when Chelsea host the
Premier League champions on Saturday.

Matic has been instrumental in helping Jose Mourinho's side establish a five-point lead over City at the top of the table, with the former Benfica man flourishing alongside Cesc
Fabregas.

And Fernando, whose own defensive midfield role is similar to the one Matic performs in west London, believes watching the Serbia
international will make him a better player.

"It's a specific position and one that is really important for every team all over the world," he said.

I played against Matic in Portugal several times and he is a really great player. He has so much quality. There are not many players like him left now, I think, but he is one I try to look at and learn from as I try to improve the way I play that
role. He has become incredibly important to Chelsea. I always try to watch him plays.

Actor Soji Taiwo (Omo Banke) Reportedly Beat Police Officer To Coma

Soji Taiwo, fondly called Omo Banke almost lost himself on Monday morning of January 26, 2015, around Ogba, Lagos, when he had a fist smack with an officer of the Nigeria Police.

His action, which took place at about 11:05am, surprised some of those who witnessed the event and concluded that the actor may have acted under the influence of alcohol.

The actor reportedly threatened to slap a policeman who had confronted him around Area G Police Headquarters in Lagos, near the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) building.

According to an informer, who claimed to have witnessed the incident and narrated it, Omo Banke had hit a tricycle popularly called Keke Napep with the Honda Civic silver colour car he was driving.

"It was said that he was trying to make a turn at the Area G junction heading towards Berger when he accidentally hit the tricycle. And when he was confronted, he flared up, but it took the quick intervention of some street urchins in the area popularly called 'area boys' to calm Omo Banke down, who had threatened to assault a policeman who tried to settle the argument between him and the tricycle rider.

"He later jumped into his car and sped off without showing any remorse for the tricycle rider".

Meanwhile, when a reporter contacted Omo Banke on phone to get his side of the story. He urged us to drop the story, but denied ever threatening to assault a police officer.

'Is it possible for a civilian to beat up a uniformed man in Nigeria?' he asked in Yoruba language, 'I would advise you do not write the story because there is no sense in it,' he added.

I no dey do! Buhari Chickens out Of Presidential Debate

No comments :

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be featuring in the ongoing electioneering public debates on national television and radio, being organised by the Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria (BON).
This, according to the party, is because of the unhidden bias and campaign of calumny by some key organisers of the programme, against the corporate political interest of the party.
However, other presidential debates to which Buhari has been invited are still under consideration, the party added.

Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation (APCPCO), Garba Shehu, said in a press statement on Thursday in Abuja that the debate sponsored by Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) was fraught with fundamental errors from the outset, being composed mainly of agencies and allies of the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) administration.
"A salutary inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Africa Independent Television (AIT), owned by a PDP chieftain. And going by the avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies being propagated by some of these media against our party and candidates contrary to the Koffi Annan-brokered Abuja Peace Accord, and the failure of these aggressors to desist and apologise, have left the APC Campaign with no option than to steer clear of any premeditated smear campaign that could be inimical to our prospective electoral success," Shehu said.

The APCPCO spokesman further explained that the boycott by the APC should not be seen as disrespect for Nigerian voters, or a ploy to evade public scrutiny. Rather, Shehu said, it must be viewed as an honourable right not to consent to any activity that could distract, demean, denigrate or derail the fast-moving train of the party.

BY MOSES ADEYEMI

After weeks of uncertainty about what happened in Barcelona, one defender called Mathieu have come out to talk lift the lid on what transpired between Lionel Messi and the head coach Luis Enrique.

Jeremy Mathieu revealed that Lionel Messi and
head coach Luis Enrique did have a training-ground argument earlier this month.

Messi had endured a difficult relationship with his coach ever since the latter's return to Camp Nou ahead of the 2014-15 campaign, but both have so far refused to discuss the matter publicly, with club president Josep Bartomeu repeatedly insisting there is no problem between the two.

Mathieu has revealed than an incident took place shortly after Messi had returned from his Christmas break, after which Luis Enrique benched the Argentine, for the 1-0 loss versus Real Sociedad.

It happened when we got back from our holidays. Suddenly, Leo lost his temper after a foul that was not given in training," Mathieu told
RMC. Things got tense and they exchanged some angry words.

Luis Enrique then approached him in the dressing room afterwards to talk to him and that was the end of it.

Nevertheless, Mathieu was quick to stress that there has been no fallout and added that such incidents happen at every club.

"These kinds of things happen everywhere, but it's made out to be a major thing because we are Barcelona," the centre-half stated.

DSS Says Boko Haram Plans To Start Bombing Markets, Rallies, ATM Using Cows, Goats, Chickens

Mike Omeri, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and coordinator of the National Information Centre, has revealed that Boko Haram is planning to attack soft targets such as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) points, markets and political rallies, using bombs fastened onto cows, goats and chickens.

Speaking at a press conference today in Abuja, he said, "Available intelligence reports indicate a plan by Boko Haram to use young male suicide bombers disguised as cobblers (shoemakers) to hide explosives in their tool boxes and detonate them in soft target areas such as markets, restaurants, ATM locations, political rallies, worship centres, as well as other public places.

"Also there is indication of a plan by this group to use livestock (such as goats, cows, donkeys and camels) laden with explosives to attack chosen targets. In view of these, the general public, including all persons operating within and around the aforementioned places, is advised to be vigilant and mindful of suspicious activities within their environment."

Marilyn Ogar, spokesperson of the Department of State Services, (DSS) who was also at the press conference, said relevant government agencies have since been informed of the development and steps are being taken to stop the terrorists.

"We have regular interactions with the relevant bodies and we have briefed them of the intelligence," she said.

Omeri also revealed that 192 persons released by Boko Haram in January were currently receiving counseling at a military facility in Yobe state.

"The centre wishes to confirm that the persons recently released by Boko Haram are presently in the custody of military authorities. Authoritatively, we can sate that these persons are currently undergoing counselling after which they will return home to re-join their kith and kin," he said.

President Jonathan Attacked Again In Taraba...as convoy also hit Adamawa

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

President Goodluck Jonathan's convoy was again stoned on Thursday by some aggrieved youths in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Jonathan was in the city in continuation of the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential rally.

His convoy had before Thursday been stoned in Katsina and Bauchi states when he went to seek the votes for his re-election bid.

It was gathered that the windscreens and windows of some of the vehicles on the convoy were destroyed before security operatives   used tear gas and   horsewhips to disperse the youths.

Those who witnessed the Thursday incident but pleaded anonymity revealed that the incident occurred when the President's convoy was going to the palace of the Emir of Muri,   Abass Tafida, from the airport.

One of them said, "Security agents ensured that people were moved very far from the main but at a point, the convoy got to a particular village where the youths became restive.

"Before we knew what was happening, they started stoning the convoy."

It however could not be determined as of press time if anyone in the convoy was hurt or any arrests made.

One of our correspondents learnt that Jonathan, who was unruffled by the incident, used the opportunity of his visit to the state to meet with   ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai.

Suntai has been unable to return to work since he was involved in a plane crash in October 2012.

It was learnt that Jonathan met with Suntai inside the Government House, Jalingo.

But while Jonathan was busy campaigning, another set of angry youths descended on the state PDP secretariat in Jalingo.

It took the intervention of security agents to save the edifice from being reduced to rubble by the angry youths who vandalised 12 vehicles on the premises.

The spokesman for the PDP in the state, Napoleon Adamu, who lamented the incident, said the youths were protesting their non-inclusion in the preparation for Jonathan's visit.

He expressed anger that despite the Abuja accord signed by all the presidential   candidates , some elements could still go as far as attacking members of the party.

He said, "We are happy that no life was lost and we want to appeal to our teeming youths to eschew violence and not to take the law into their own hands.‎
"Even before the date the President's campaign was fixed, the youths had   been complaining that they were not carried along by the committees constituted for the visit."

At the state stadium campaign ground, Jonathan   said he would ensure the completion of both the Kashimbila Dam and the Mambilla Hydro Power projects in the state if re-elected.

He added that plans were on to establish a presidential resort at Mambilla to attract top government functionaries and business moguls to the state.

Jonathan later moved to   Yola, Adamawa State, where he again assured the people   that Michika and Madagali Local government Areas   would be recaptured by the military from Boko Haram.

Jonathan told the crowd   that his administration would provide funds to enable those affected by insurgency to rebuild their houses and live a meaningful life.

Making inferences about insinuations in certain quarters that he was going about seeking re-election when Boko Haram was intensifying its attacks on parts of the North-East, the President urged the people to disregard such.

"No human being with his right senses, except a mad man, will encourage the insurgents to attack and kill people for political purposes while he is going about looking for votes," Jonathan said at the Mahmud Ribadu Square venue of the rally.
"No political leader will compromise his stance and connive with terrorists under whatever circumstances to declare war on his country," he added.

Calling on the electorate to have confidence in the leadership of the PDP for accelerated development, Jonathan warned Nigerians against playing politics with insecurity.

He said that his administration was "disturbed by the insurgents' activities" and added that it was mad   for   political opponents to claim that he was not doing much to end the insurgency which, according to him, is a global phenomenon.

"This type of allegation from politicians who campaign to garner votes from the electorate amounts to madness.   People   should   disregard such insinuations because they are aimed at   derailing our   democracy," Jonathan added.

He advised the people to also vote for the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Nuhu Ribadu, whom, he said, would   use his position to fight Boko Haram.

A PDP topshot and a former Petroleum Minister, Prof. Jibril Aminu; former acting Governor Umaru Fintiri;   and the Senate President, David Mark, jointly called on the electorate to vote for Jonathan.

They said the best legacy the President and the government of PDP could leave behind was a good educational standard for the people.

The National Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu'azu, after thanking the people, presented the PDP flag to Ribadu.

He   also lifted the suspension of   a former National Chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur, and the state executive of the PDP .

A little drama however happened when   overzealous security agents on horseback   thrashed some of the party supporters. This made some of the party loyalists to react back by hauling chairs at the security operatives.

Federal Government Condemns Asari, Tompolo's War Threat...better late than never!

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

The Federal Government officially reacted on Thursday to the war threat by ex- Niger Delta militants, saying it was reprehensible.

The condemnation came barely a day after a former Minister of Defence, Lt.Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, called for their arrest and seven days after the ex-militants made the threat at the Government House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The ex-militants – Mujahiden Dokubo-Asari, Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), Victor Ebikabowei (aka Boyloaf) and others – had at the end of a meeting attended by Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, said, "For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharaoh, there is a Moses. We are going to war. Every one of you should go and fortify yourself."

But as the Federal Government, through the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, cautioned against inflammatory remarks, unrepentant Ekpemupolo, said Danjuma was the one that should be arrested by security operatives.

The minister, at a news conference in Abuja, said that there was no basis for the ex-militants to be beating war drums since President Goodluck Jonathan had said   he would concede defeat if he lost the February 14 presidential election.

He said, "It is reprehensible for people to threaten this country with mayhem should their candidate lose the election . The President,   Dr. Jonathan, has not left anybody in doubt as to his preparedness to conduct a free, fair, credible and transparent election.

"Mr. President has said that in the unlikely event of his losing the election, in the course of this exercise, that he was straight man enough, he was democratic enough to concede defeat.

"So, if Mr. President himself, who is the main contestant, who is the President of this country, who is the leader of the PDP(Peoples Democratic Party) has come out to say that he was going to ensure free and fair elections where the choice of Nigerians would be respected, I do not see where statements from supporters of either Mr. President or any   political party for that matter should derail the course of this democratic movement."

The minister, who said that the anxiety over the elections was unwarranted, stressed that the Federal Government was determined to conduct hitch-free elections.

He added that security agencies had been sufficiently mobilised for the elections.

Shortly after Moro spoke, Ekpemupolo, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Bebenimibo, wondered why Danjuma, who did not condemn the stoning of Jonathan's convoy in Katsina and Bauchi states, would want them arrested.

He asked, "Is Gen. Danjuma not aware of the peaceful atmosphere when Gen. Buhari visited Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa   states for campaign? Why is it that President Jonathan's convoy was attacked in Kastina and Bauchi states without any provocation?

"Where was this so-called statesman when the APC campaign Director General, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, threatened to form a parallel government if Jonathan wins the 2015 elections?"

Ekpemupolo said that Danjuma should be reminded that the treaty that brought the Southern and Northern Protectorates together in 1914, expired last year.

He added, "Let Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts know that they will not see any Ijaw man, Igbo and others to fight on their side if the war that they are planning breaks out.

"And finally, Gen. Danjuma and his cohorts should know that I remain resolute on my position in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, that President Goodluck Jonathan must win this election for Nigeria to continue to stay together."

Ohaneze Ndigbo also faulted Danjuma and called on him to worry himself more with ending the destructive activities of Boko Haram in the North-East.

The Secretary General of the group, Joe Nworgu, told one of our correspondents on the telephone that   the arrest of Ekpemupolo and Dokubo-Asari was not the solution to the security problem in the country.

He said, "They should prevail on all those behind the insurgency in the North to stop. Let them do that and not to call for the arrest of people who are merely issuing verbal threats.

"The group they armed are destabilising the country. Their men are already armed and fighting and embarrassing the country. These ones are only issuing verbal threats.

"Luckily, Danjuma is in charge of the relief funds for victims of the insurgency. He is in a better position to know those that should be cautioned."

Nworgu   enjoined those perpetrating violence to realise that no single group of individuals had the monopoly of violence.

But the Northern Elders Forum has declared support for the call by Danjuma.

The forum's spokesperson, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, said   in a telephone interview with The PUNCH, "It makes a lot of sense. It serves as a wake-up call for people who are derelict of their duties.

"If somebody (in the security services) is asleep, he should wake up and do his job that is all Gen. Danjuma is saying."

Abdullahi dismissed allegations that the former minister was being partisan by not speaking up when similar statements were made by some   northerners.

He said, "That's absolute rubbish, it does not make sense to make such claims. This is not the first time they (ex-Niger Delta militants) are issuing such threats; It   has been going on for some time and nobody has cautioned them.

"If you look at the environment and venue where they make such comments you cannot connect it directly to those who are responsible for it. People have been calling for this (arrest) for a long time."

The Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has also cautioned those beating the drums of war to refrain from doing so as it threatens the survival of the country.

Secretary of the group, Chief Seinde Arogbofa, said in Akure that the former militants and Boko Haram insurgents were taking issues to the extreme.

He said, "That is not the part of democracy. Although they were reacting to the attack on the President when he went to campaign in the north, it is not sufficient to begin to talk about war.

"Even the President will not accept that. He would not want the country to break in his hands.

"What the former militants should be doing is to campaign effectively for the President so that he becomes President."

Oshiomhole Reveals 'How PDP Have Been Stealing From Nigerians'

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday accused the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government of duping Nigerians by selling kerosene N150 per litre instead of N50.

Oshiomhole, who said this while receiving defectors from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress in Benin, the Edo State capital, also said that Nigerians had been suffering since the PDP assumed power 16 years ago.

This, he said, was because of the PDP's dedication "to preserve the privileges of the few."

Oshiomhole said the Federal Government had been doing this by not allowing the masses to enjoy the benefits of the natural resources bestowed on the country by God through shady subsidy deals on petroleum products.

The governor said, "The man who has a shop must close by 6 pm. If he operates beyond 6pm, he must put on a generator, and buy petrol or diesel. For 16 years, the PDP can't give us light. But if they leave us in peace even in the dark, it will be bad enough but for them, that is not bad enough."

"From Otuoke to Benin City, to Lagos, to Ekpoma, to Iyahmo, to Sokoto, kerosene is now between N150 and N160 per litre. For every N150 you spend in buying a litre of kerosene, the PDP steals N100 because in the books of the NNPC, they have it on records that kerosene is N50 per litre."

Oshiomhole also commended the quality of the defectors, who he described as knowledgeable.

He said, "Today is not just the fact of the huge number in this hall but it is also about the quality of the brains that have now join us; and in a world that is knowledge-driven, it is only the party that can parade the best brains that can drive the sustainable change that Nigeria is currently battling with in order to bail our country from its present political quagmire."

The governor also likened the ruling party to "an impotent man."

So Pastor Adeboye Endorsed Prof. Osinbajo Many Months Before Buhari Made Him Running Mate

Although the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has not publicly endorsed any politician for the presidential seat in the February elections, a video that was filmed last year February has shown something a bit interesting.

During the spiritual leader's visit to the Olive Tree parish of the church that had Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the current APC vice presidential candidate as its pastor, Pa Adeboye's heard showering praises on Osinbajo.

Adeboye commented on the fact that he had not visited the church since he posted Osinbajo to head it. According to him, the last time he was in the church, it was when the former pastor was around.

He said: "You know usually with your friends, you take them for granted. You want to rush to where there might be trouble spots. But when you know that there's no problem here, you tend to forget. But once in a while, you need to know that your friend needs fellowship.

"Some of you might be thinking, maybe he didn't come because he doesn't like the new man. I didn't come because I trust him, because he's a wonderful child of God. Very wonderful child of God. Absolutely reliable. He's one of the few Christians, one of the few sons I have that if you give him an assignment, you can go to sleep. By the time you wake up, it will be done."

Coincidentally, Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan was also at that service and APC supporters believe it's more than just a coincidence.

Asked by the programme presenter, Kadaria Ahmed if he actually endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as was reported in the media, Babangida said he actually alluded to it. "I did allude to that, I said I found him as someone who has a very strong belief about the unity of this country.

"Those of us who fought the civil war, I still carry a bullet here as a permanent reminder in me, anything that talks about Nigeria's unity, I get impassioned about it. So what I said is that the president believes in the unity of this country and any other person who believes in the unity of this country should support the president to keep the country one.

"Well, as far as 2015 is concerned all the presidential candidates, 14 of them have my blessing. The only difference, I did mention it, is that, I have not been able to read what they have to offer to this country and I am going to do that.
