Kidnapped Orekoya Kids Actually Became Friends With Abductor's Children

This is absolutely odd but then young people's innocence would always make them adapt to new environments easily. According to this report by PUNCH, the three kidnapped kids were already getting use to their new environment even though they missed their home and ofcourse their mum.
Read below...
The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Leke Orekoya–Aderomola (11 months old), Adedamola (4 years old), Demola (6 years old) ─ who finally regained their freedom on Wednesday, having spent seven days in the hands of kidnappers, have yet to fully grasp the enormity of what they went through.
But as much as their innocent minds could comprehend, they have been able to describe life in captivity.
Playfully, the oldest of the children, Demola answered questions our correspondent put to him.
Thirty-five-year-old Funmilayo Adeyemi, who abducted the three children, after she resumed work as a nanny at the couple's Surulere home, has four children.
Those four children quickly turned to tools of her heinous business after the Orekoya boys were brought home.
In order to ensure the children did not miss home too much, Adeyemi allowed the children play with her own children.
Demola told our correspondent that neither he nor brothers cried when they did not see their mother in those seven days.
"The woman asked us to play with her children. We all played together, though their television was not working, we only played around the house. We did not cry because we had people to play with," the boy said.
He went further to say, "She (Adeyemi)brushed our teeth every morning but she only bathed us in the morning. She did not bathe us in the night like our mummy does for us at home."
The children love cartoons but that was too much of a luxury for them to enjoy in captivity.
"We could not watch cartoon network because the television in their house was not working," little Demola said.
He said he misses his friends and could not wait to play with them again, but that surely will be under the watchful eyes of their mother, Adebisi Orekoya.

Adebisi told Saturday PUNCH in an interview that she is still in shock and has not been able to let her children out of her sight since they got back.
"For now, they would remain in my sight. I have to remain with them," she said.
Asked if she was planning to resign from her banking job and stay home full time for the time being, she said she had not made that decision yet.
It would not be an overstatement to say that Adebisi Orekoya is the happiest woman alive. The banker did not hide this fact on Thursday, as she poured out her mind on why she would always be thankful to God and the people who were sympathetic to her family within the seven days they searched for their three kidnapped children.
Having advertised on online sales portal, Olx, for a nanny, the Orekoyas got a reply from 23-year-old Mary Akinloye, who resumed work at their Lawani Road, Itire, home on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
The nanny, whose actual name was later revealed as Funmilayo Adeyemi, abducted the couple's three children the following day while the couple were away from home.
But after seven days of fasting and prayer, sleepless nights, scam attempts, predictions from prophets and negotiations, the Orekoyas got their children back.
Adebisi told Saturday PUNCH that even though the children have not been able to fully grasp the enormity of what happened to them, they knew they were in the wrong hands for the period they were in captivity.
"They told me the people who took them did not take care of them and they were bitten all over by mosquitoes," she said.
On Thursday, the Orekoyas addressed journalists in Lagos to extend their appreciation to Nigerians who in one way or the other extended their help to the family.
Adebisi explained that no one could truly understand the relief and happiness that had engulfed her since the return of her children. The kidnappers had loaded the children in a large plastic bag and dropped them around Shasha, in Egbeda area of Lagos.
There were signs of weariness on the woman's face as she picked her words softly, but her relief was unmistakable.
"I have not slept for a single day since the day my children went missing," she said. "That is because the kidnappers would sometimes call around 3am for negotiation."
Adebisi explained that she was only able to sleep on Thursday, the day after the children were found.
"Even as they got treated in the hospital after we recovered them, I still could not sleep. I sat there watching over them so another maid would not come and take them away," the woman said.
As many people expressed their sympathies for such a terrible fate that had befallen the Orekoyas, some Nigerians home and abroad had expressed on the social media that the family had been careless to have employed a maid through the social media.
Asked what pushed them to advertise for a nanny through an online market, Adebisi said it was not the first time she would get a nanny by advertising online.
According to her, she would not have put her children in such danger if she had any inkling that kidnappers had gone to the extent of also sourcing for their victims online.
Flashing back to the last day she saw her children, Adebisi explained that Adeyemi was extra-nice that day.
"She worked well. She cleaned everywhere and played with the children as if they were hers. With her attitude and the way she behaved, she must have been a well-trained kidnapper," she said.
But Adebisi had no inkling that she was about to start the worst period of her life.
But the experience has left some effect on the young minds of the children. Adebisi said she feared it might take a while for the youngest, Aderomola, to adjust.
Adebisi said, "One of my children said, 'Mummy, they put us inside nylon and put us inside the car. It was hot in there.' They could not say if it was inside the boot of the passenger's seat. He was just playing.
"They would be okay. The baby is still exhibiting fears. He is afraid and I can understand why. He went through serious harsh conditions and is suddenly seeing love everywhere. He is wondering what is going on."
Asked if she would ever get a nanny again, Adebisi replied that she had not decided on that yet.

Meanwhile, since the arrest of Adeyemi, who was tracked down through her mobile phone on Wednesday, the police have said investigation was still ongoing on the case.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Kenneth Nwosu, said efforts were being made to arrest other fleeing accomplices.

LMAO! APC Offers To Train PDP Spokesman On How To Be An Opposition Mouthpiece

The All Progressives Congress has offered to send the Peoples Democratic Party National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh, on special six-week crash course on his new role as the opposition spokesman.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said this while reacting to an allegation by the PDP spokesman that the APC was planning to kill the PDP and ensure that Nigeria becomes a one-party state.
The APC said Metuh needed to be trained on how to be a good opposition spokesman so that he would not be telling lies.
The statement read, "Metuh will need the training to effectively carry out his new tough task. It is now obvious that he needs to understand that for him to succeed in his new role, he must be credible, empirical, more sophisticated in language use and very passionate in addition to being able to operate on a lean or zero budget."
The APC said it was ridiculous for anyone to suggest that the APC was seeking to destabilise the PDP when the PDP was already in crisis long before the elections.
The statement added, "Really, it's beggars belief to say that the APC is seeking to lure members of the PDP's National Executive Committee with phantom promises and threats with a view to destabilising the party when everyone knows the rate at which PDP stalwarts have been rushing to jump off the sinking ship called the PDP before it finally tipped over.
"Our national chairman and president-elect have even spoken out publicly on the issue, encouraging the eager PDP defectors to stay back in their party so they can provide a formidable opposition to the new ruling party. How then can anyone accuse the APC of either luring away PDP members or seeking to destabilise a party that has done itself in?"
Mohammed described the claim by the PDP as ludicrous, adding that its publicity secretary, Metuh, needed training to be able to carry out its new role.
The APC, therefore, urged Metuh, to make himself available for the crash course which would be supervised by the APC publicity secretary so that he would be able to perform optimally for the next four years.

THE series of killings rocking Ughelli metropolises, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, took a different dimension on Thursday night when gunmen suspected to be assassins killed in cold blood, the Ughelli branch chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Barr Austin Icheghe.
The incident it was gathered happened around 9pm at the 14 Ekredjebor residence of the victim in the presence of his immediate family.
When Vanguard visited the Icheghe residence on Friday, the pool of blood of the victim was still on the ground with sympathizers and family members thronging the residence to mourn with the family.
Speaking to Vanguard, a niece of the deceased, Egunor Uviesa said her uncle was shot in front of his apartment while alighting from his vehicle at the close of work.
She said: "As soon as he came down from his vehicle, they accosted him, and shot him on the head with the bullet damaging part of his face. He was immediately rushed to a private clinic here in Ughelli were he was confirmed dead."
Meanwhile, the Executive Director, Center for the Vulnerable and the Underprivileged, CENTREP, Barr Oghenejabor Ikimi while condemning the incident, described it as barbaric and wondered why anyone would want to sentence a lawyer to death.
Reacting to the incident, Ikimi said: "The killing of the NBA chairman brings to mind the incessant killings in Ughelli which is on the increase in recent times. We are tired of cases of unresolved murders and assassinations nationwide.
"A year ago, two lawyers in the State were murdered by unknown gunmen on their way to court and the police are yet to arrest the culprits till date. We are calling on the State Commission of Police and his men to wake up and checkmate these killings because we are tired of these killings."

#XenophobiaSA! South African Govt Appeals To Nigeria, Others

The government of South Africa has pleaded with Nigeria and other nations in Africa affected by the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.
South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Maite Emily Nkoana-Mashabane, who met with Ambassadors and High Commissioners from African countries in South Africa, noted that  "it is therefore with a deep sense of pain and regret that we as the South African Government humbled ourselves before the African diplomatic community; and we expressed, through them, our heartfelt apologies to the African continent and people for the actions of those of our citizens who have behaved in a shameful manner".
"In the new Constitution of our free and democratic South Africa, we made a promise to ourselves and to the world that we would remain committed to the values of human dignity, the achievement of equality and the advancement of human rights and freedoms, non-racialism, non-sexism and the rule of law".
"Furthermore, at the core of our foreign policy is the commitment we have made to the world that we will always prioritise Africa in all our endeavours because we are an integral part of the African continent".
"South Africa's transition to democracy was one of the world's most iconic testimonies of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, " she stressed.
She assured that as directed by President Jacob Zuma, the South African Government is implementing a series of measures aimed at bringing an immediate halt to all the violence, looting and displacement of individuals and families, adding that practical measures are being taken by the security agencies to bring to justice those who are responsible for the violence and related criminal acts.
"The South African Government will also do everything within its power to ensure the safety of all citizens and foreign nationals irrespective of their status. South Africa is a multicultural society that welcomes and promotes interaction among people of different backgrounds," she said.
She added that South Africa will not forget the hospitality and support it received from fellow Africans during the difficult times of anti-apartheid liberation struggle in the country, stressing that it was Africa nations that opened their doors and became home for many South Africans who fled the persecution of the apartheid government.
"It is in this regard that South Africa has since the advent of democratic governance in 1994, worked cordially with fellow African countries to consolidate bilateral relations that are flourishing politically, economically and socially".
"Ubuntu is the central concept of social and political organisation in the African global outlook, consisting of the principles of sharing and caring for one another.
This is better captured in the Sepedi adage Motho ke motho ka batho, which means, generally speaking, that to be human is to affirm one's humanity by recognising the humanity of others and establish mutually respectful relations with them," she said.

#XenophobiaSA! President Zuma's Wife Lead Protesters Against Attack On Foreigners

Thousands of people marched through the South African city of Durban on Thursday to protest against anti-immigrant violence that has left six people dead and spread to the economic capital Johannesburg.
Among those leading the march were first lady Thobeka Madiba-Zuma‚ KwaZulu-Natal legislature speaker Lydia Johnston and premier Senzo Mchunu.
Foreign-owned shops in the Jeppestown area of Johannesburg were attacked overnight, the police said as they called for calm over fears that the attacks could trigger widespread unrest fuelled by the country's economic troubles.‎
In the past two weeks, shops and homes owned by Somalis, Ethiopians, Malawians and other immigrants in Durban and surrounding townships have been targeted, forcing families to flee to camps protected by armed guards.
About 4,000 people marched through Durban, chanting "Down with xenophobia!" and "A United Africa" at an event attended by residents, students and local religious and political leaders.
Police vowed to quell the wave of violence, which claimed its latest victim on Monday when a 14-year-old boy was killed in KwaMashu, a township north of Durban.
"There are tensions in various parts of the country between some locals and foreign nationals (but) lawlessness will not be tolerated," National Police Commissioner General Riah Phiyega said in a statement.
"Overnight, there has a flare-up of violent attacks and looting in Jeppestown, Johannesburg," she added.
"Six male suspects have been arrested for public violence and housebreaking. The suspects allegedly broke into foreigners' shops."
Police, who also reported tensions in Pietermaritzburg city, called for community leaders to help reduce tensions and added that false rumours of attacks were increasing fear.

Earlier this year, xenophobic violence erupted in Soweto, near Johannesburg, as frustration deepens over lack of opportunities for many young blacks born since the end of apartheid in 1994.
South Africa's economic growth was just 1.5 percent last year and unemployment is at around 25 percent — soaring to over 50 percent among the young.
Violence against immigrants in South Africa is common, with unemployed locals accusing foreigners of taking their jobs.
In 2008, 62 people were killed in similar violence in Johannesburg townships.
One of the marchers in Durban, Eric Machi, 34, said he rented rooms to Zimbabweans and Malawians until they fled from attackers in recent weeks.
"We are trying to make peace with those people who came here from Africa, but now they are gone," he said.
"It started late at night. The attackers were shouting and throwing stones, and breaking some houses."
The marchers were escorted by a heavy police escort, but the march began peacefully.

President Jacob Zuma condemned the attacks and admitted the government had been slow to tackle some issues behind the violence.
"This now must stop, because we cannot continue killing one another," Zuma said in a public radio and television address late Wednesday.
"We cannot accept that when there are challenges, we then use violence, particularly to our brothers and sisters from the continent."
He added that "perhaps as (a) government we have not been very quick in addressing these issues."
Zuma is set to make a further statement to parliament later Thursday on the attacks.
"Anytime (it) can happen now," said Ali Abdi, a Somalian who runs a clothes shop but is now sleeping in a camp in Durban.
"There is not just one reason. Some of it is foreigner hatred, especially against African foreigners. The other reason would be jealousy."
Many shops in the centre of Johannesburg were shut on Wednesday and Thursday after threats spread via social networks and phone text messages.

Almost 40 000 abusive messages aimed at Premier League players many of them racist have been posted online this season, according to the anti-discrimination body "Kick It Out".
Liverpool's Italian forward Mario
Balotelli was the most abused player with some 8 000 posts, of which more than half were
racist in nature.
His teammate Daniel Sturridge and Arsenal's Danny Welbeck were also regular victims.
More than 95 000 other messages were directed at clubs, with Chelsea and Liverpool featuring most frequently.
"Kick It Out" director Roisin Wood told the BBC the level of abuse was "truly staggering". "We must do all we can as a collective to protect those who are on the receiving end of discriminatory abuse," she said.
The organisation wants to form a group with representatives from football, social media and the police to tackle racist, sexist and homophobic abuse on platforms like Twitter.

Ikechukwu Ugwuegede and Patrick Asadu, both members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), staged a mild drama at the head office of INEC in Enugu on Friday.‎
Both men presented themselves to collect the certificate of return for the Nsukka/Igboeze south federal constituency during the issuing of certificates of return to the governor-elect and national assembly members-elect.
Gladys Nwafor, the INEC national commissioner for Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi, refused to releas the certificate to either of them despite their pleas.
Ugwuegede and Asadu have been engulfed in a legal tussle over the party's candidature for the election.
Asadu, a member of the house of representatives, secured a ruling at the federal high court sitting in Abuja recognising him as the right candidate for the election but Ugwuegede appealed the ruling.

Appealing to other elected officials to fulfill their campaign promises to the people, Nwafor described the day as unique for INEC and the government of the state.
"We are here to give certificates of return to whom the electorate has given the mandate to serve," she said.
"It has not been an easy task for both the commission and the contestants. I call it a divine mandate to serve the people.
"Enugu state is one of the most peaceful states and I am happy to be associated with the state."

In his acceptance speech, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor-elect, promised to deliver selfless service to the people and take the state to the next level.
Ugwuanyi assured the people of a transparent and an all-inclusive government.
"On behalf of everyone elected, I will like to say a big thank you to the God of David and Abraham for making this day possible," he said.
"We will not fail you. I want to thank INEC for delivering credible and transparent elections. The people have spoken and God has sealed it."

Gilbert Nnaji who represents Enugu east and Chukwuka Utazi elected to represent Enugu north, were also on ground to receive their certificates.
Other national assembly members-elect who received their certificates are Chime Oji (Enugu north/south), Kingsley Ebenyi (Enugu east/Isi-Uzo) and Chukwuemeka Ujam (Nkanu east/Nkanu west).
Stella Ngwu (Igboetiti/Uzo Uwani), Dennis Agbo (Udenu/Igboeze north) and Dennis Amadi (Udi/Ezeagu) also received their certificates.
Meanwhile, Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu west senatorial zone) and Toby Okechukwu (Oji River/Awgu/Aninri constituency) were absent during the presentation.
