Philosopher's Corner:- There Is No Hellfire

No comments :

A Yoruba clinche will lead us on the argument on this article "aye lorun wa" meaning "heaven is on earth". Another one is "aye lesan wa" meaning "rewards are on here on earth". Following these two clinches, heaven and hell are not on a different supernatural world, and man will experience both here on planet earth. Are these not establishing the facts that there is no heaven or hell anywhere else as claimed by religious institutions? Some Yorubas believed that everyone will get the rewards or punishments for all their deeds here on earth before they die.

In many mythological instances, a folklore and religious tradition, hell is a place of eternal torment in an afterlife, often after resurrection. It is viewed by most Abrahamic traditions as a place of punishment. Religions with a linear divine history often depict hells as eternal destinations. Religions with a cyclic history often depict a hell as an intermediary period between incarnations. Typically, these traditions locate hell in another dimension or under the Earth's surface and often include entrances to Hell from the land of the living. Other afterlife destinations include Heaven, Purgatory, Paradise, and Limbo.

Other traditions, which do not conceive of the afterlife as a place of punishment or reward, merely describe hell as an abode of the dead, a neutral place located under the surface of Earth. Modern understanding of hell often depict it in abstract sense, as a state of loss rather than as fiery torture literally underground, but this view of the concept of a hell can, in fact, be traced back into the ancient and medieval periods as well. Hell is sometimes portrayed as populated with demons that torment those dwelling there. Many are ruled by a death god such as Nergal, Hades, Hel, Enma or the Devil.

Two verses that many assume prove the wicked are to be eternally tortured in hellfire are Matthew:25:41 and 25:46. But do they? Let's take a closer look.
First, notice the setting to which they refer—when Jesus "comes in His glory" (verses 31-32). We are told that He separates the sheep from the goats. The sheep represent the righteous (verses 34-40). At His return He sets the sheep at His right hand. The goats in this instance represent sinners. They are appointed to assemble on Jesus' left hand. He then consigns the goats to "the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew: 25:41).
The word everlasting is translated from the Greek word aionios. The key to understanding this verse is knowing what will occur everlastingly. Does it refer to a fire that tortures without end, or does it have another meaning?
In Matthew 25:46, Jesus spoke in a single sentence of everlasting ( aionios ) punishment and of life eternal ( aionios ). Since the righteous will be given eternal, or everlasting, life, many theologians believe the punishing of the wicked must last as long as the life given to the righteous. But this cannot be reconciled with the statement that those cast into the lake of fire perish— they are killed. As explained elsewhere, they suffer death—the second death (Revelation: 2:11; 20:6, 14; 21:8).
A plain and simple meaning of Matthew 25:46, that fits with the rest of the Bible is that the wicked are cast into a fire that annihilates them—renders them forever extinct. The resulting punishment of being cast into the aionios fire is a one-time event. It is a permanent punishment, the results of which will remain forever—that is, eternal death. It is not ongoing punishing that continues forever without end. This is the only explanation that agrees with the rest of the Scriptures.

Hell exists at the present time and will continue to exist forever.  It will never die down, and its inhabitants will remain in it forever.  No one will come out of Hell except sinful believers who believed in the Oneness of God in this life and believed in the specific prophet sent to them (before the coming of Muhammad).  The polytheists and unbelievers will reside in it forever.  This belief has been held from classical times and is based on clear verses of the Quran and confirmed reports from the Prophet of Islam.  The Quran speaks of Hell in the past tense and states that it has already been created:

“And fear the Fire which is prepared for the disbelievers.” (Quran 3:131)

The Prophet of Islam said:

“When any of you dies, he is shown his position (in the Hereafter) morning and evening.  If he is one of the people of Paradise, he is shown the place of the people of Paradise.  If he is one of the people of Hell, he is shown the place of people of Hell.  He is told, ‘this is your position, until God resurrects you on the Day of Resurrection.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)

In another report, the Prophet said:
“Surely, the soul of a believer is a bird hanging on the trees of Paradise, until God returns it to his body on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muwatta of Malik)

These texts make it clear that Hell and Paradise exists, and that souls may enter them before the Day of Resurrection.
Jehovah witness contribution
Psalm 16:10. And how does that read in the King James? "For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." And according to the King James Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon, what is the Hebrew word translated hell? Sheol. And what is that? The abode of the dead.

Now according to the King James Version, in Acts chapter 2, where was Jesus? In hell as we read in verse 27. What was his condition? Dead, according to verse 24. What is the condition of the dead? Ecclesiastes 9:5 says they are conscious of nothing. Nothing. Where are the dead? In the grave according to verse 10. What is the Hebrew word for grave here? Sheol according to the King James Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon, as mentioned above. What is Sheol again? The abode of the dead.

What is the cure for death? Resurrection. Resurrection is for dead people, not live people. So how did Jesus escape death? Resurrection according to Acts 2:31. It is noteworthy that the Hebrew word Sheol and the Greek word Hades are used interchangeably by Peter and mean the same thing – the place or abode of the dead.

Now, according to Revelation 20:13, what does hell gives up? Pick up your King James Bible and read: "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; AND DEATH AND HELL DELIVERED UP THE DEAD which were in them . . ." Ah. Dead people in hell. And what happens to hell according to verse 14? "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."

What is the second death? The lake of fire. And is there consciousness in death according to Ecclesiastes? No. And what, again, is thrown into the lake of fire? Hell. Now if hell is a place of fire and torment, what would be the point, reasonably, in throwing fire into fire?

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in hell since the Bible teaches about it. Jehovah's Witnesses simply reject the traditional belief that hell is a place of fire, brimstone, torment, torture, agony and anguish. That matches the sadistic personality of Satan, not the loving personality of God. Moreover, God himself plainly teaches that the punishment for sin is death – it always has been. The ultimate punishment is eternal death.

With the above argument, is not clear that man should rejoice because there is nothing like hell fire after death. Our God is too good to condemn His own hand work in His own image to fire. Let's look it from the point of determinism, if it is true that all what we are doing here on earth is predetermined by God, it means after our existence here on earth, God should applaud man for playing the script He wrote for man irrespective of what evil man does on earth. God predetermined that a person will kill one million people in a day and does other evils and rights other days, then man did accordingly. Do you not think such a person deserve to be celebrated after returning to his heavenly father for a job well done?

Man should rejoice. Some of us are already in the heaven Jesus promised us. Jesus said: in my father house in heaven, there are many mansions. This has been the gospel since the time of our great parents. Just imagine God decided to wake someone who died in a remote village in Nigeria that did not travel abroad during his entire life time, in United State of America of our present time and tell him that this is the heaven Jesus promised him, will he doubt it? The Quran also said that the time will not come until all the tall houses must have been built by man. Then which heaven are we waiting for?

Let me tell you some truth. No new thing here on earth. As it is in the days of Noah, so it is now. This life will not end one day for everyone to just die. Whoever dies, his own end had come, he faced is own judgment once. This is according to our religions believed. God will just raise our soul and take us to where on earth we deserve as our heaven or hell. As per "aye lorun wa" meaning "heaven is here on earth". Europe is the heaven Jesus promised us, Africa is the hell the Quran promised us. Heaven and hell are in categories as we were told. I think Nigeria is one of the darkest parts of hell. Yobe, Borno and Adamawa state are the hottest part as promised. Is it not sounding like truth?

88-Year Old Beji Caid Essebsi Wins Tunisian Presidential Election

No comments :

Information reaching BlackBox Nigeria from Election authorities in Tunisia have it that Veteran politician Beji Caid Essebsi has been confirmed as winner of Tunisia's first free presidential poll.

He secured 55.68% of the vote in Sunday's run-off, defeating caretaker president Moncef Marzouki (44.32%), the head of the electoral commission said.
Marzouki, 67,  who is younger to the winner, earlier refused to admit defeat, but the election as been adjudged by many to be free, credible and fair.
Essebsi has urged all Tunisians to "work together" for stability but critics say his win marks the return of a discredited establishment.
They point out that he served under President Zine el-Abedine Ben Ali, who was ousted in 2011 after the Arab Spring revolution triggered uprisings across the region.
Mr Essebsi was also in the cabinet of Tunisia's first post-independence leader, Habib Bourguiba.

I pity you! Buhari is a sharia-loving Muslim fundamentalist and a military dictator -Femi Fani-Kayode Writes Open Letter To Yemi Osibajo

Word for Professor Yemi Osinbajo
Add BBN on 2BAFB965

I AM glad that the APC eventually took my advice and saw the wisdom in not fielding a Muslim/Muslim ticket for the 2015 Presidential election even though I hear that right up till the last minute they almost did so. I congratulate my friend and brother Professor Yemi Osinbajo on his nomination as the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC and running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari.

I have known Yemi for a number of years and I must say that he is not only a very pleasant and civilised person with a warm and gentle disposition, but he is also a highly cerebral lawyer with a truly brilliant mind. I have immense respect for him.

Yet sadly ever since I heard about his nomination and announcement as Buhari's running mate I have felt nothing but sheer pity and a deep sense of pathos for him. My counsel and words for him are as follows:

Woe unto the children of light that secretly delight in darkness and that seek to thwart the counsel of God for their nation. The Bible says: "what fellowship is there between light and darkness?" It says, "what does God have to do with Belial?" It says, "what profited a man to gain the world and lose his soul?".

A respected Pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a devout and committed Christian and an intellectually-sound and very well educated Professor of Law accepts to be running mate to a sharia-loving Muslim fundamentalist, a military dictator and a die-hard believer in the philosophy of "born to rule"?

A gifted and blessed servant of God who is a spiritual son of Daddy Enoch Adeboye, one of God's greatest and most respected Generals and one of the Nigerian Church's most humble and best loved precious gems, chooses to play "man Friday" and second fiddle to an individual that secretly despises Christians and that represents everything that is unsettling to the modern world and the 21st century?

A learned Professor of Law who is the leading authority on the law of evidence and who has written numerous books on the topic chooses to play number two to a man that never went to university?

It is only in Nigeria that this can happen. Is there anything that these people will not do, is there anyone that they will not use and is there any norm that they will not defile, pervert and corrupt in their ignoble quest for power and as a consequence of their insatiable lusts?

Each and everyone one of us, including my friend Yemi, will ultimately have to answer to God for the choices that we make and we must live with the consequences of those choices. It is no wonder that the Redeemed Christian Church of God has disassociated itself from a false claim that the Church was supporting the Buhari/Osibajo ticket and has come out to say clearly and categorically that they have not endorsed the candidacy of Osibajo.

Frankly that is just the beginning of many shockers and surprises that Yemi will be served with in the next few weeks until the battle is over and circumstances compel him to go back to his legal practice.

Meanwhile, he should learn from the words of one of his highly esteemed colleagues and yet another Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the courageous Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, who said the following words in his famous and revealing sermon titled: 'The Nigerian Church', which went viral just a few months ago.

He said: "woe be unto any believer who joins hands with the enemies of God in an attempt to bury the Church and destroy the gospel". This was a timely admonition and these are strong and wise words from a true servant of God who is under no illusion about what is going on in the politics of Nigeria and who is brave enough to say it as it is.

Yet whether we choose to heed Bosun's words or not, I am absolutely certain of one thing: those that have aligned with the servants of Satan, the emissaries of Boko Haram and the children of darkness and that seek to thwart God's counsel for our nation shall not prevail.

Boko Haram abducted 185 women in Borno State on December 18, and killed no less than 52 innocent people. What a people, what a country. Those that say that Buhari has changed simply because he has a pastor as his running mate are ignorant. Did he not have a Pastor as his running mate in his last outing? Did he not still say that it was his intention to spread Sharia throughout the country?

Did he not oppose a state of emergency in the north eastern states? Did he not say that instead of killing Boko Haram members, they should forgive them, and treat them in the same way that the Niger Delta militants were treated? How does the fact that Buhari has a Christian running mate change any of these things?

In any case he only chose a Christian running mate because he was compelled to as a consequence of the hue and cry that a Muslim/Muslim ticket would have generated. Are those that cite the fact that he has a Christian running mate as evidence of his new-found love for Christians aware of the fact that during the American civil war, a small, ignorant, misguided and deluded group of negro slaves actually fought on the side of the southern confederate forces in an attempt to keep slavery in place?

Did that suggest that the leaders of the southern confederate "secession" states suddenly changed their minds and fell in love with the blacks that they had enslaved and treated like animals? Is Buhari not a Muslim fundamentalist? Did he not lead a northern delegation to Lam Adesina, the late Governor of Oyo State just a few years ago, when some Fulani herdsmen were attacking Yoruba farmers and ask him "why your people are killing my people?" Apparently, Buhari believed that the aggressors that had invaded the land and farms of others and killed all the occupants had a right to do so.

Ignorance and lack of knowledge is a really terrible affliction but in this context it is also very dangerous. Buhari's picking a Christian pastor as his running mate changes nothing about him, his entrenched views and his deep-seated mindset.

It rather provides evidence of his sheer desperation to win power at all costs. Christian Vice President or no Christian Vice President, his heart remains as ever.

We shall meet him and his army of supporters in the field: let God's will be done.

Fast rising actress, Didi Ekanem , who seems to have one of the biggest bums in Nollywood, in a recent interview with Vanguard begged fans to concentrate on her talent rather pay more attention to her gigantic bum.

She said:
'It's a good feeling and a wonderful one. But I won't lie to you, as much as I love it so much, I just wish people would focus more on my talent than my bum. All the concentration out there is on my bum not my talent. I would honestly wish people to see me as a talented actress not a sexy one. But my bum is not allowing people to see me deep down, to see the person and the talent.'

'Some said it is made of plastic but you are here now and can see there is no artificial embellishment or augmentation. My bum is real, it's like 101% real, I was born this way, I was born like this. I've had it since I was in JS1, in fact that was when I started noticing it.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish officially tied the knot, exactly nine years after they entered into a civil partnership.

The loved up couple tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in front of family, friends, numerous celebrities and, their sons Zachary, three and Elijah, 23 months.

David and Victoria Beckham, musician Ed Sheeran and actor David Walliams were among the guests.

Sir Elton has been including the hashtag #ShareTheLove on his posts on Sunday.

Friends of the couple have also been using the tag, with the Beckhams' eldest son Brooklyn writing: "Amazing day with family and special friends congratulations Uncle Elton and Uncle David #ShareTheLove."

Sir Elton said at the time he was "very proud" of Britain for changing the law.

"Having our civil partnership was an incredible breakthrough for people that have campaigned for a long time - through the 60s and the 50s in England when it was so hard to be gay and hard to be open about it. And it was a criminal act.

"So for this legislation to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married'. We will get married."‎

At least 80 Boko Haram insurgents and two soldiers lost their lives when suspected members of  the sect laid ambush along the troubled Maiduguri- Damboa road.
The clash according to reliable sources occurred at the weekend when some military personnel attached to 7 Division, Nigerian Army were on their way to Damboa, the headquarters of Damboa Local Government area of Borno State.
This attack is coming barely 48 hours when some troops succeeded in killing 75 insurgents in a failed attempt to attack engineers and electricians who were repairing the vandalized transmission lines in a remote village of Komala along the 185km Maiduguri- Damboa- Biu road.
The whole of Maiduguri and its environs had remained in a total blackout following the vandalized power lines and this was the third attempt by security forces and the staff of PHCN to restore power to the city of Maiduguri but to no avail.

The source said,  "military personnel were on their way to Damboa to provide security to the staff of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) who were in Damboa to repair some destroyed electric cables along Maiduguri-Damboa road but they were ambushed by insurgents leaving two soldiers and over 80 terrorists dead over the weekend.
A security source who seeked anonimity told our correspondent that "as the troops were moving towards Damboa, one Boko Haram terrorist suddenly appeared on the road with a female by his side both with AK47 rifles.
"As the troops approaches, the insurgents shot a Rocket propelled Grenade (RPG) on one of the troops vehicles killing two soldiers."

A suspected car thief, Amucha Chike, who was arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnap Unit of the Enugu State Police Command, has promised to attend a thanksgiving church service and embrace God if released.

Chike, 27, who said he was a graduate of Agriculture Economics from the Abia State University, Uturu, and has completed his National Youth Service Corps programme, blamed the devil for his ill-fated venture into crime.

The suspect, who hails from the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, said he wished to use his university degree to seek an honest living.

The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, explained that Chike had on June 16, 2014, snatched a Toyota Camry at Independence Layout, Enugu, after the owner left the key in the ignition after parking to open his gate.

Chike allegedly jumped into the car and drove off, warning a lady who was inside the vehicle to lie down, or he would shoot her dead.

The said lady was eventually dropped along the way, before Chike proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, where he kept the car in a dealer shop, before selling it for N700,000.

Having sold the car, Chike moved to Benin City, Edo State, to relax and enjoy the proceeds of the stolen car, but unknown to him, the police were already on his trail.

He was eventually arrested on November 29 in Edo State, while having dinner in an undisclosed restaurant.

Following his arrest, the stolen vehicle was recovered.

Chike, who is currently helping the police in their investigations, urged youths to avoid crime.

He said, "I am ashamed of myself. I am still surprised at how the police traced me to Edo State and arrested me.

"Youths should eschew all manner of crimes and criminality and embrace good virtues and God will embrace them someday but involvement in crime and criminality will destroy their future."

The suspect added that he needed prayers and deliverance.‎

Obanikoro is more qualified than Agbaje, Lagos APC reacts...

Jimi Agbaje recently emerged as the Lagos PDP Governorship candidate amidst controversies. The other main aspirant in the race has continued to cry blue murder over being schemed out by powerful forces in the party

However, the ruling APC in the state has also shared their opinion about both candidates emphasising that Obanikoro is more tested than Agbaje. In an interview, Lagos APC spokesman, Joe Igbokwe‎ posited that Jimi Agbaje has never held any poisition...excerpts

With Jimi Agbaje as the PDP governorship candidate, it seems there will be a tough contest next year.

Agbaje jumps from one party to the other. He was a progressive because he started with us but I don't know what he went to look for at the PDP. The party is sinking and he will sink with the party. He has nothing to offer. He has no experience. He has never been in government. He has never been a councilor, a local government chairman, a commissioner. He has never held any sensitive post. So, nobody will give him the opportunity to use Lagos as a test run. To rule Lagos is hard, it is even harder than ruling Nigeria and he lacks the training. Running Lagos is tasking, very engaging, it is not a newcomer's affair.

But with strong personalities like Chief Bode George and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe joining hands for the first time and uniting behind Agbaje, don't you think it will boost his chances next year?

How many followers do Ogunlewe and George have? Where is the PDP in Lagos? Who is Bode George in Lagos? They will all be rendered jobless next year because there will no longer be PDP. Where are their followers that will generate over two million votes to unseat the APC in Lagos? It is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. They are just wasting their time. They lack developmental orientation. They have been given 16 years to rule Nigeria and have failed.

You called on security agencies to investigate the activities of the SURE-P task force. Are you jittery that their presence could tilt the scale in favour of the PDP next year?

I am speaking from antecedents. This is not the first time. When Ogunlewe was Minister of Works, a dangerous trend played out. There was chaos and people died when FERMA and LASTMA officials clashed. It was a war situation but they were taken off the streets after an outcry and now they are coming back. We don't know what they are doing. They claimed to be training youths but they are just using them. I have told parents to withdraw their children from there because they are just being used and money is being extorted from them; that shows how empty and weak these people are. They will be disbanded once we take over. They lack ideas. You don't know what we know about those people. We have our spies among them that give us information, we work intelligently here.

When the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, won the primary, the PDP congratulated him. Now that Agbaje has won, why has your party refused to congratulate him?

He did not win; they stole the ticket and handed it over to him. Have you not been hearing Senator Musiliu Obanikoro shouting on TV and on the pages of newspapers? He even gave evidence and it has not been disproved, so we cannot congratulate Agbaje. He also claimed that Bode George and Agbaje's supporters used guns to intimidate his supporters and you want us to legitimise such an election by congratulating him? Obanikoro has been a minister, commissioner, ambassador and is even more qualified than Agbaje. He would have even been better but they don't know. So, we will not support an illegality. They took the whole of Oregun road hostage on the day of their primary. We do not celebrate crime in the APC.‎

"We would attack Buhari's Supporters" -Ijaw Youths

Ijaw youths have threatened to attack supporters of the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), in southern part of Nigeria.

The youths said on Sunday that they would visit Buhari's supporters in the South with violence if the loyalists of President Goodluck Jonathan should be attacked in the North.

The Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide said the decision to attack Buhari's supporters was informed by reports that some persons in the North had resorted to sending open threat messages to pro-Jonathan governors and other supporters.

In a statement by the IYC spokesperson, Mr. Eric Omare, the youths said, "All Nigerians irrespective of his or her place of origin has a right to contest for the presidency of Nigeria and Nigerians have a right to support any candidate of their choice without molestation.

"It would be recalled that hundreds of Nigerians, especially NYSC members were killed and properties worth millions of naira destroyed in the aftermath of the 2011 elections as a result of similar undemocratic disposition of some elements in the North."

"We of southern Nigeria have not at any time threatened or attacked supporters of General Buhari; hence any threat or attack on supporters of President Jonathan in the north would be visited with proportionate action from us in the south.

"Governors Amaechi, (Rochas) Okorocha and (Adams) Oshiomole; Timipre Silva, John Oyegun, Bola Tinubu and other supporters of General Buhari in southern Nigeria are going about their campaigns without any molestation from southerners.

"Enough is enough for those who promised and are making northern Nigeria ungovernable for President Jonathan. If they want their own country, let them say so as we can no longer accept the 'Extreme North Must Rule' mentality of some northerners."‎

The Plateau State Governor, Mr. Jonah Jang, has named his son, Yakubu, as the state Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning.

Before this new development, Yakubu was his father's Special Adviser on Special Duties. Yakubu, according to the Commissioner for Information. Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, will take over from Mr. Yilji Gomwalk, who has been picked as the running mate to the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for the 2015 governorship election, Mr. Gyang Pwajok.

Abubakar, who briefed newsmen in Jos on Sunday, said the action was to allow for continuity in governance.

Meanwhile, the PDP governorship candidate has appealed to all those who contested with him in the primary to close ranks and work with him for the growth of the state.

Pwajok told newsmen in Jos on Sunday that he would run an all-inclusive government, adding that his mission is to continue with the redemption agenda of the outgoing governor.

He said, "I see my emergence as the manifestation of what God wants to do in Plateau State. Mine will be an all-inclusive government as my campaign slogan, Greater Together, has shown."

Pwajok said that he intended to fill the generational gap which the people, especially the state's youths, had been yearning for.

The Police in Lagos have arrested a member of New Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ajah area of the state over the alleged death of two men during a spiritual bath, weekend.
The deceased identified as Abiodun and Ayinde Oniru, of same parents and one of their step-brothers were alleged to have been taken to the church by their father and step-mother last Thursday for spiritual cleansing.‎
However, after three days, it was reportedly suggested that they should complete the cleansing with a spiritual bath.
