Jimi Agbaje recently emerged as the Lagos PDP Governorship candidate amidst controversies. The other main aspirant in the race has continued to cry blue murder over being schemed out by powerful forces in the party

However, the ruling APC in the state has also shared their opinion about both candidates emphasising that Obanikoro is more tested than Agbaje. In an interview, Lagos APC spokesman, Joe Igbokwe‎ posited that Jimi Agbaje has never held any poisition...excerpts

With Jimi Agbaje as the PDP governorship candidate, it seems there will be a tough contest next year.

Agbaje jumps from one party to the other. He was a progressive because he started with us but I don't know what he went to look for at the PDP. The party is sinking and he will sink with the party. He has nothing to offer. He has no experience. He has never been in government. He has never been a councilor, a local government chairman, a commissioner. He has never held any sensitive post. So, nobody will give him the opportunity to use Lagos as a test run. To rule Lagos is hard, it is even harder than ruling Nigeria and he lacks the training. Running Lagos is tasking, very engaging, it is not a newcomer's affair.

But with strong personalities like Chief Bode George and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe joining hands for the first time and uniting behind Agbaje, don't you think it will boost his chances next year?

How many followers do Ogunlewe and George have? Where is the PDP in Lagos? Who is Bode George in Lagos? They will all be rendered jobless next year because there will no longer be PDP. Where are their followers that will generate over two million votes to unseat the APC in Lagos? It is like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. They are just wasting their time. They lack developmental orientation. They have been given 16 years to rule Nigeria and have failed.

You called on security agencies to investigate the activities of the SURE-P task force. Are you jittery that their presence could tilt the scale in favour of the PDP next year?

I am speaking from antecedents. This is not the first time. When Ogunlewe was Minister of Works, a dangerous trend played out. There was chaos and people died when FERMA and LASTMA officials clashed. It was a war situation but they were taken off the streets after an outcry and now they are coming back. We don't know what they are doing. They claimed to be training youths but they are just using them. I have told parents to withdraw their children from there because they are just being used and money is being extorted from them; that shows how empty and weak these people are. They will be disbanded once we take over. They lack ideas. You don't know what we know about those people. We have our spies among them that give us information, we work intelligently here.

When the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, won the primary, the PDP congratulated him. Now that Agbaje has won, why has your party refused to congratulate him?

He did not win; they stole the ticket and handed it over to him. Have you not been hearing Senator Musiliu Obanikoro shouting on TV and on the pages of newspapers? He even gave evidence and it has not been disproved, so we cannot congratulate Agbaje. He also claimed that Bode George and Agbaje's supporters used guns to intimidate his supporters and you want us to legitimise such an election by congratulating him? Obanikoro has been a minister, commissioner, ambassador and is even more qualified than Agbaje. He would have even been better but they don't know. So, we will not support an illegality. They took the whole of Oregun road hostage on the day of their primary. We do not celebrate crime in the APC.‎
