No doubt Ovation Magazine publisher, Otunba Dele Momodu (Ayòbámidélé Àbáyòmí Ojútelégàn Àjàní Momodu) has always proven that he is one who believes and upholds the tenets of the Yoruba culture and it's revered tradition. This shouldn't even come as a big deal being a proud son of the source, Ife and also studying Yoruba at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Ife for his first degree.
It is however a sight to behold seeing Nigerian pop star, Bankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W prostrate to the respected media mogul in the above picture. The picture was taken about two years ago...Omoluabi ni boboyen

Five years after his untimely death, the car in which Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun popularly
known as Dagrin, had an accident has been abandoned at the Lagos State University, Ojo Campus.
Investigations by BlackBox Nigeria reveals that the car has been abandoned for the past four years.
A member of the Students' Union who spoke to our correspondent revealed that the car was part of the relics of the late musician which was brought to the University to attract students during the showing of the late rapper's biopic, ‘Ghetto Dreamz’ produced by Ope Banwo's Stingomania in 2011.

The movie was produced to celebrate the life and times of the hip-hop artist.
According to the former Social Director of the Students Union, Ahmed Jimoh, who BBN found out was in office during the period and who was directly involved in how the car got abandoned, said the owner of Stingomania, Ope Banwo, abandoned the car because he could not pay the balance being owed the Union as part of an earlier agreement. When BBN inquired how much was the balance, he said it was N20,000 which was earlier agreed upon before the movie was shown on campus.
The abandoned car, BlackBox Nigeria discovered has been overtaken by weeds and beholds a painful sight of a relic which should have been kept to keep the memory of the late star.
It would be recalled that Dagrin died following a collision with a stationed vehicle in front of Alakara Police Station in Mushin with his new Nissan Maxima, on April 14, 2010.
The then rave of the moment finally gave up the ghost on April 22, 2010 at the age of 22. He was born on October 21, 1987 to parents from Ogun State, Nigeria.
His brand of music largely influenced by the streets and  hiphop‎ which he fused into his indigenous Yoruba language has continued to inspire man others after him with Olamide stepping into the great shoes he(Dagrin) abandoned at the peak of his career.

Hero's Smile! Download Emotional Track By YQ...a tribute to DAGRIN

"Veni, Vidi, Vici" translated as "I came, I saw, I conquered" is a Latin phrase which reportedly originates from a letter that Julius Caesar wrote to the Roman Senate after achieving victory in his short war against Pharnaces II of Pontus.
We are certain that if Dagrin were alive today, those same words will summarize his letter to us (his family, friends, fans, the music industry, the entire country, Africa and the diaspora) because he was VICTORIOUS despite the number of years he spent with us.
HERO'S SMILE is yet another tribute song by YQ, who was not just Dagrin's bosom friend but also collaborated with him dishing to us the ever-green EFIMILE.
'Hero's Smile' which sounds different from the gifted artiste's recent releases (Tear Rubber & Nawo Nawo) reminds us that legends don't die but live forever. 5 years after, we are still celebrating the greatest proponent of the indigenous rap music genre, Dagrin. YQ also dedicates this song to all other celebrities, family members and friends who left us too soon.
We eulogise the legendary Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun (Dagrin) with these lines from A.E. Housman's poem 'To an Athlete Dying Young'
'Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.
Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man'

Not Again! Fire Guts Market In Lagos Barely One Month After Last Inferno...four incidences in a year

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
A midnight fire has burnt down some parts of the Oko Baba Sawmill in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State and destroyed property estimated at millions of naira.‎
Our correspondent learnt that the fire, which began around 2am on Tuesday, was caused by the stub of a cigarette thrown into the sawdust.
It was gathered that more than 200 shops were consumed by the inferno.‎
This is the fourth time in less than a year that the sawmill will be gutted by fire.
On August 20, 2014, it was reported that more than 5,000 shanties were burnt in the community after an overnight fire ravaged the area.
On January 13, 2015, our correspondent further reported that a household in the community lost three kids, while hundreds of residents were rendered homeless after another fire gutted the sawmill.
On March 17, 2015 it was reported that a generator went up in flames which spread to many of the shanties and destroyed some houses.
Our correspondent learnt that the latest incident affected the industrial part of the sawmill.

A trader in the sawmill, Mrs. Ruth Ajunwa, disclosed that she lost over N3m worth of goods, apart from a N300,000 cash which was also burnt.
She said, "I was called around 2am that the sawmill was on fire. I lost three important machines to the fire. I had a cash of N300, 000, which was from my previous day sales. I wanted to take the money to the bank this morning (Tuesday). Where do I go now?"
Our correspondent observed that some electric wires were also burnt by the fire.
Some officials of the electricity distribution company were seen disconnecting the wires from poles.
Another trader, Oye Agbodeleye, said they mobilised the community to put out the fire.
He said, "There was no power supply at the time, so it had nothing to do with electricity.
"When we heard, we rushed here. Four industrial machines were burnt. Each of them is worth about N10m."

The President of the Lagos Mainland Sawmillers Association, Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyu Onikeku, said the fire was caused by a cigarette stub.
He said hundreds of people had been rendered jobless by the incident, appealing to the government to assist the traders.
"We have been trying our best to stop this frequent outbreak of fire, but you know human error is beyond our control.
"For instance, I am aware this fire was caused by a man who smoked and decided to drop the stub in the sawdust and went his way. That was how the fire engulfed this place.
"We have been trying to get help from the government for past fire disasters, but sadly we have never got any.
"Some of these people took loans from banks to finance their business. Some got loans from cooperative societies and relatives," he said.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said three fire trucks from Ilupeju, Sari Iganmu and Onikan stations were deployed in the scene of the incident.
He said the fire was put out around 8.57am.
He said, "The fire affected a number of shops where they sell planks and other building materials. The space is about an acre of land.
"The shops were constructed with wooden materials and corrugated iron sheets."

I no go gree! Senator Smart Adeyemi Drags Dino Melaye To Court Over Kogi Senatorial Elections

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Senator Smart Adeyemi has dragged the Kogi West Senator-elect, Dino Melaye before the National Assembly Petitions Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, the state capital.
Adeyemi in his petition alleged irregularities in the conduct of the election as well as the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on March 28, 2015.
In the petition filed by his counsel, Mr J.O. Olatoke, SAN, Adeyemi said that Melaye was not duly elected or returned by the majority of the lawful votes cast during the election adding that he (Adeyemi) should be declared the winner.
The petitioner said he scored the majority of lawful votes cast during the election and ought to have been declared the winner.
According to the petitioner, the declaration of Melaye as winner was wrongful and invalid.
"Melaye was declared the winner of the election because of wrong and/or incorrect computation of lawful votes cast and intentional omission of collating results of the polling units won by the petitioners and counting of spoilt ballots in his favour," Adeyemi added.
He equally sought an order withdrawing or nullifying the Certificate of Return, CoR, already issued to Melaye as the winner of the election and then directing INEC, which is the third respondent in the petition to issue a fresh CoR to him, as according to him, he scored the highest number of lawful votes cast at the election contrary to the result declared by the INEC.
He further stated that Melaye, who is the first respondent was also not qualified as at the time of the election to contest for the Kogi West Senatorial District by reason of substantial non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), and therefore sought for his disqualification as the candidate for the election .
Adeyemi, on the alternative, however, asked the tribunal to order INEC to conduct a fresh election into the Kogi West Senatorial District on the basis of alleged irregularities.
No date has however been fixed for the hearing of the petition.
INEC has declared Adeyemi, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, second with 38,148 votes as against Melaye of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 41,120.

Ghanian President Visits President Jonathan, Speaks On Nigerian Elections, Economy...

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Ghanian President, Mr. John Mahama, on Tuesday explained why the Nigeria's general elections attracted the attention of the whole world.
He said the elections attracted so much attention because Nigeria was the biggest economy in Africa and naturally the biggest economy in ECOWAS.
Apart from this, he said the country remained the most populous country in Africa and also in the sub-region.
He spoke when he paid a visit to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, in Abuja.
He added that the election "was keenly contested and so there was heightened interest and anxiety about what would happen in this contest."
He added that after he took over as chairman of ECOWAS, he was confronted with elections in Guinea Bissau in which he said ECOWAS played a very critical role.
He said Nigeria was the next and that on Saturday, there would be elections in Togo.
He said, "But of course, no election has attracted attention and interest as elections that have been held here recently in Nigeria for the several reasons.
"One is because Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa and naturally the biggest economy in our sub—region.
"Secondly, it is the most populous country in Africa and also in the sub-region; but also because in the time leading up to the elections, the election was too close to call; it was keenly contested and so there was heightened interest and anxiety about what would happen in this contest."
He added that because of all these, he paid pre-election visit to Nigeria and Jega and the secretary to the commission and few members of staff of the commission.
He said, "I met Prof. Jega, in his calm self and gave me all the assurances that this commission wa ready and that we were going to have successful elections.
"If you see me here today, my presence in the commission is telling you our appreciation to Jega and  members of his commission for what they have done in terms of recent elections.
"I decided to come personally. When I asked for the appointment, Jega and staff had offered to come over to my hotel and I said 'no', I want to pay you a tribute by coming here personally to congratulate you and all your commission."

Me And You No Dey For The Same Catego! Bola Tinubu Wants Kashamu To Clear Drug Case In USA "before we can have a conversation"

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has blasted controversial businessman and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senator-elect, Prince Buruji Kashamu.
Tinubu said he does not need praises from Kashamu, saying they are not in the same class.
Kashamu had in an advertisement praised Tinubu over the outcome of the 2015 general elections.
The APC national leader asked Kashamu, a PDP financier, to make a trip to the United States of America to answer drug charges against himself.
"Please keep your peace until you make your trip to the USA as a Senator-elect. Upon your return we can then have a conversation. We can then proceed with your repudiation of the PDP with a promise that you will stop corrupting and fouling the political system," Tinubu said in a statement signed by his media adviser, Sunday Dare.
"Our attention has been drawn to the recently advertised letter by Mr. Buruji Kashamu to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in which he described Tinubu in superlative terms and as his role model. Kashamu needs to stop this cynical fawning. It will not work.
"The days of false adulation are gone in Nigerian politics. Fake praise singers like Kashamu will find that their particular craft is no longer in vogue. During this election cycle, their practice has dramatically turned from the way things are to how it used to be.
"Henceforth, there will be consequences for the positions a politician takes and the words they utter.
"Politicians will no longer be able to change direction and loyalties as if they were changing clothes. Those in politics must know that responsibility and accountability shall now follow them. One can no longer walk both sides of the street at the same time. In case Kashamu has not noticed, the politics of principle defeated the politics of posturing.
"That Kashumu undermined the democratic process by buying his victory does not mean he is part of the new Nigeria. He is merely an isolated vestige of a dying past. The man is an extinct species the realization of which will soon dawn on him.
"For him to liken himself to Bola Tinubu is for a small rut to call itself a mountain. For Kashamu to call Tinubu a role model is Kashamu's admission that he does not know the meaning of the term. There are no grounds for comparison. There is only contrast. Tinubu has sacrificed years trying to bring democracy to Nigeria. He struggled in opposition to the powers that be. Without this, at times, lonesome fight and singular determination, the great change in Nigerian politics would not have happened as it did. TInubu is an architect of democracy. Kashamu is a failed demolisher of that which Tinubu has strived to build. Under Kashamu's designs, our elections would be a wholly mercantile undertaking.
"Meanwhile, Kashamu has blown wherever the prevailing winds took him. He stood for nothing and sacrificed nothing except the people's welfare.
"This same Kashamu rained insults on former President Obasanjo in a vicious campaign of calumny. Kashamu's party, PDP sponsored defamatory documentaries full of lies and innuendos against me, General Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of APC. Please keep your peace until you make your trip to the USA as a Senator-elect. Upon your return we can then have a conversation. We can then proceed with your repudiation of the PDP with a promise that you will stop corrupting and fouling the political system.
"That Kashamu would deign to compare himself with Tinubu is a distasteful insult to Tinubu and to anyone who knows Nigerian politics. If he has any sense of propriety, Kashamu should retract the corrupt missive and apologize for this latest lie to the public."
"Kashamu in a factory of incoherent mischief aimed at achieving selfish goals. Before the election, Tinubu was his arch-enemy. Now he seeks to be the prodigal son returned home. This scam will fail.
"Kashamu may be prodigal but he is no political son of Tinubu. Kashamu's political lineage tracks to people like Bode George and President Jonathan. He should direct his encomiums to these men who are his true role models. They need his contrived affections more than Tinubu does,'' the statement added.

Buruji Kashamu Tackles Tinubu

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The Senator elect under the platform of  the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP, Mr Buruji Kashamu has enjoined the All Progressives Party, APC, leaders,  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be a  democrat.
Kashamu reacting,  to Tinubu's reaction to a congratulatory message said to have emanated from him said  thus  "My attention has been drawn to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reaction to the innocuous congratulatory messages that I sent to him and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
" First, I must say that I doubt if the statement was approved by him. However, if it was, I must state that I am taken aback by the unwarranted attacks against me as if we were still campaigning. It is unbecoming of someone of his stature and calibre.
"For me, it is high time politicians and leaders rose above petty issues and raise the bar in constitutional democracy. We should not just be democrats in words but also in deeds. We should play politics without bitterness.
" It is on record that no Nigerian politician has taken former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the cleaners even as a sitting President like Asiwaju Tinubu did. Yet, Chief Obasanjo forgave him. As for me and Baba Obasanjo, he remains my father and leader, just as I am his son and follower. At no time did I abuse Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
" As a true party man, I campaigned vigorously for my party and its candidates. Now, the elections are over, and as a true sportsman, I thought I should congratulate those who won.
" Short of any praise-singing, what I said in the congratulatory message that they chose to react to a week after it published was that there was no way anyone can wish away the achievements of Asiwaju Tinubu in the nation's political annals, particularly in Yoruba land.
Part of the message also reads: "Although I now belong to the opposition, your achievements transcend political divides and I am not ashamed to publicly acknowledge them.
"I salute your courage, commitment, doggedness, forthrightness and tenacity of purpose even in the face of daunting opposition and challenges.
"By your sheer wit and unwavering commitment to democratic ethos, true federalism and economic prosperity, you led the Alliance for Democracy (AD) from a one-party state to a regional party, and now a national party that is about to form the government at the centre."
He therefore asked; "How do these translate to praise-singing? Are they not facts of history that I merely adumbrated?
"He accused me of purchasing my election with money, the appropriate forum to prove that is the election petitions tribunal and not the pages of newspaper.
" On the U.S case, I wish to state for the umpteenth time that the United States as the bastion of democracy and the Rule of Law would not lend itself to any form of abuse of the fundamental human rights of an innocent soul, especially one that has been arrested, tried and freed by its most trusted ally – the United Kingdom.
" I am not running from any trial. All I have asked is for the relevant parties to follow due process – if they believe that I yet have a case to answer.
" I believe in the supremacy of the almighty Allah who frustrates the signs of liars and makes fools of diviners, who turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish. He is the ultimate decider of the fate of all mortals. When He says yes, no man can say no and when He says no, no man can say yes!
"I stand with the almighty Allah Subhana Wa Tala. He is the protector of all humans. He is my refuge and shield. Let no one play God!" he said.

See Schoking Confession Of Ekiti-Born Robber Who Operates At Burials, Rallies

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
A 50-year-old father of two from Ekiti State, who was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has said he preferred to rob during rallies, weddings, burials, house warming and child christening because it was easier.‎
The suspect, Tokunbo Ojo, who specializes in stealing money, laptops, phones and other valuables from parked vehicles at events, using a master key, was arrested after police received reports of his activities in Lagos and Ogun states.
Ojo said: "I prefer to rob at ceremonies such as political rally, wedding, burial and baby naming; anywhere with a large turnout of people. The larger the crowd, the better.
"My ordeal began when I started mingling with drug addicts. It was one Grema Mohammed that introduced me to drugs. Overnight, my desire for cocaine grew.

Addiction
"It was actually my addiction to cocaine that led me into armed robbery because I need money to satisfy my insatiable cocaine lifestyle.
"I was a painter before I went into local 419. Later, I graduated into full-fledged robbery. I operated as a local 419 for several years. When people come to us with their problems, I introduce them to our leader who poses as a prophet or herbalist depending on the personality of the victim.
"I was arrested because I made a master key, which I use to open people's vehicles and steal their belongings. I paid a welder N500 for the master key. I am a one-man squad.

Mode of operation
"Usually, I attend functions and monitor people, who park expensive cars. Immediately a victim takes his or her seat I move to where the vehicle is parked, open it as if I am the owner and steal all the valuables inside.
"There was a time I stole N3.2 million from a parked vehicle during a campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State. I used N2.2 million to buy a Toyota Highlander and then I used the balance N1 million to buy cocaine.
"Although my wife did not know I was into robbery, she got suspicious when I bought the Toyota Highlander. She kept asking how I got the money for the car, but I shunned her seriously.
"I had my first child, Tunde Ojo, a 26-year-old photographer, when I was in secondary school. My second child is still in primary school."

#XenophobiaSA! UNILAG Students, Youths Protest In Nigeria

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
NIGERIAN have continued to protest xenophobic attacks on foreigners, especially Nigerians, in South Africa.
The latest protesters included the students of the University of Lagos and members of the Youth Action for Success.
The UNILAG students on Monday staged a protest at the South Africa's High Commission, Lagos, while the YAS members took to the streets of Enugu on Tuesday.
The UNILAG students delivered a protest letter to the South African High Commissioner, Amb. Lulu Mguni, giving the South African authorities a 24-hour ultimatum to either stop the attacks or face a boycott of businesses and products from the country.
The students came in three buses, one of which had 'Aluta missile' on the number plate.
One of the students that participated in the protest told our correspondent that the demonstration had been planned to move on to major South African companies on the Lagos Island but that the police stopped the protesters.
He said, "We issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the appropriate authorities of South Africa to stop the attacks or they risk a boycott of their businesses and products in the country. We will be the ones to champion the boycott.
"We were to go to a major South African company on Tiamiyu Savage Street but armed policemen resisted us and we cancelled our trip."
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the protest.
He said, "The students, under police protection, demonstrated at the South African High Commission. They made attempts to go to the DSTV and MTN offices but were appropriately advised in the interest of security.
"They peacefully departed after a hitch-free protest."

In Enugu, the youths, who protested on the streets of the coal city, demanded an end to the attacks within 48 hours, failing which South African investments in Enugu State and other parts of Nigeria would be destroyed.
The youths, under the aegis of YAS, carried placards with various inscriptions. Some of the placards read, "No to mindless killing of Nigerians", "Stop this xenophobia now" and "Don't tempt our patience", among others.
Speaking to journalists during the rally, the leader of the group, Jesechai Okezie, said the South Africans had not been grateful for the hospitality of other Africans.
He said, "We are not happy that Nigerians are being brutalised and killed in South Africa.
"We allowed South Africans to come here and operate; they have Shoprite, Multichoice, MTN and a host of other investments here.
"So why are they killing us? Why are they brutalising us? Why are they denying us of our economic rights?
"We love other nationals here in Nigeria, we treat them with the highest level of hospitality, but this is what we have got in return."

Demanding an immediate end to the attacks, Okeke said, "These killings must stop forthwith.
"We are giving the South African government 48 hours to ensure that these killings and looting come to an end.
"The President of South Africa must assure the world that the lives and properties of Nigerians are safe; if they don't do that, we are going to react and our reaction will be disastrous.
"We are asking Nigerian youths to remain calm."

#XenophobiaSA! OPC Threatens Showdown If Attacks Don't Stop

The Oodua People's Congress, OPC. has given a 48-hour ultimatum to the South African government to stop the xenophobic attacks going on their country or incur the wrath of the group. At a press conference in Lagos yesterday April 21st, the founder of the group, Dr Frederick Fasheun warned that nobody has the monopoly of violence.
"While the Nigerian government and the rest of the world seek a diplomatic solution to this season of madness, the OPC hereby warns that South Africa must end this rash of xenophobia within 48 hours. These ill-advised attacks are capable of bringing out the beast in the best of men. And we will not watch as fellow Nigerians are wantonly killed in cold blood. Enough is enough. South Africans must know that nobody has a monopoly of violence. They must halt the killings, the maiming and the looting of foreigners' shops in their country. These incidents of xenophobia will provoke reprisals against South Africans and their interests in other lands. Thus, beginning with the belligerent Zulu King, all South Africans involved in these attacks should be arrested immediately and prosecuted for crimes against humanity."he said
According to Dr Fasheun, what the group will do if the attacks continues cannot be revealed now but said South Africans should remember they have many businesses in Nigeria‎
"South Africa has many business interests in Nigeria but of course, you do not expect me to reveal what we will do until the time is right."he said
