Lessons I Learnt From Losing My Virginity At 16

I am sixteen and have already lost my virginity. I truly regret that my first time was with a guy that I didn't care
that much about. Since that first night he expects s*x on every date. When I don't feel like it, we end up in an
argument. I don't think this guy is in love with me, and I know deep down that I am not in love with him either.
This makes me feel cheap. I realize now that this is a very big step in a girl's life. After you have done it, things are
never the same. It changes everything." Since then I have been involved with other guys and I have learnt a few of
lessons. Here are a some:

1. Many teenage girls sleep with guys because they are trying to find love, to find self-worth. But the catch is that
the more guys they sleep with, the less self-worth they had.

2. Many girls think that if they really care about guys, s*x will bring them closer together. Indeed, s*x creates a bond. However, 80 percent of the time, the physical intimacy of first s*xual relationship won't last more than
six months.

3. Couples who want what is best for their relationship or future marriage will have the patience to wait.

4. Most of the time, when a girl gives away her virginity, she assumes the relationship will last forever. But study of more than 10,000 women shows that when a girl loses her virginity at that age at 14, she'll probably have about thirteen more lifetime s*xual partners.

5. Teen s*x frequently causes tension within families because of the dishonesty that usually accompanies the hidden intimacies. Relationships with friends are often strained, and when things turn sour, the gossip and social
problems often become unbearable.

6. Everyone talks about how hard it is to say no to s*x, but no one tells you how hard it is when you say yes.

7. It is dangerous for a teenage girl to be sexually active. Because a teenage girl's reproductive system is still immature, she is very susceptible to sexually transmitted diseases

8. In fact, early s*xual activity is the number one risk factor for cervical cancer, and the second is multiple
s*xual partners. A girl's body, like her heart, is not designed to handle multiple s*xual partners.

9.While a girl might plan on sleeping with only one guy, she could be exposing herself to the STDs of hundreds of people through a single act of intercourse. Here's how: Scientists studied the s*xual activity of a public high school of about one thousand students. About half (573) of the students had been sexually active, and most of them had only been with one partner. However, when the scientists tracked the web of s*xual activity among the students, it was discovered that more than half of the sexually active teens—without knowing it—were linked
together in a network of 288 partners within the school! So if a girl slept with a guy from this school, theoretically she could be in bed with one-fourth of the entire student body.

10.The emotional side effects of premarital s*x are also damaging to a young woman. One of the most common consequences of teenage s*xual activity is depression. Girls who are sexually active are more than three times as likely to be depressed as girls who are abstinent. In fact, the condition has become so predictable that the American Journal of Preventive Medicine recommends to doctors: "[Girls who are engaging in] s*xual intercourse
should be screened for depression, and provided with anticipatory guidance about the mental health risks of
these behaviors."Even if a girl experiments with s*x once, research shows an increased risk of depression. Also, consider the fact that the rate of suicide attempts for sexually active girls (aged twelve to sixteen) is six times higher than the rate for virgins.

11. Unfortunately, many young women search for meaning only in relationships with guys, instead of with God. It is not uncommon for a girl to have s*x in order to make a guy like her more or to encourage him to stay with her. She may compromise her standards because she is
afraid of never being loved. Once he leaves her, though, an emotional divorce takes place. A person's heart is not
made to be that close to a person and then separated.

12. Since teenage s*xual relationships rarely last, the girl's sense of self-worth is often damaged. She may conclude that if she looked better, he would have stayed longer. This mentality can lead to harmful practices, such as eating disorders. Or the disappointment she feels may drive her into a state of self-hatred. Some young women even begin to hurt their own bodies in an attempt to numb the emotional pain. Such practices never solve the problems, though. If she wants to be loved, she needs to begin by loving herself.

13. In her heart, a girl who has been used knows it. However, she may immediately jump into another s*xual relationship to escape the hurt. If she tries to boost her self-esteem by giving guys what they want, then her self-worth often ends up depending upon those kinds of relationships. Her development as a woman is stunted because without chastity she does not know how to express affection, appreciation, or attraction for a guy without implying something s*xual. She may even conclude that a guy does not love her unless he makes s*xual advances toward her. She knows that s*x exists without intimacy, but she may forget that intimacy can exist without s*x. A girl on this track usually feels accepted initially, but that acceptance lasts only as long
as the physical pleasure.

14. Such a lifestyle will also take its toll on her ability to bond. Here's why: Sharing the gift of s*x is like putting a piece of tape on another person's arm. The first bond is strong, and it hurts to remove it. Shift the tape to another
person's arm, and the bond will still work, but it will be easier to remove. Each time this is done, part of each
person remains with the tape. Soon it is easy to remove because the residue from the various arms interferes with
the tape's ability to stick.

15. The same is true in relationships, because neurologists have discovered that previous s*xual experiences can interfere with one's ability to bond with future partners. This does not mean that if a person is not a virgin on the wedding night, he or she will be unable to bond with a spouse. It simply means that when we follow God's plan, we have the most abundant life possible. But
when we turn from his designs and break his commandments, often we are the ones who feel broken afterward.

16 Spiritual. Sin cuts us off from God, and this is the most serious consequence of premarital s*x. After going too
far, many of us know all too well the cloud of guilt that weighs on our hearts. The solution is not to kill our
conscience but to follow it to freedom. It is calling us, not condemning us. Provided we repent, God will be there to
welcome us home and let us start over.

What this all means is that our bodies, our hearts, our relationships, and our souls are not made for premarital s*x. We should wait to have s*x.

Two armed robbers, Kayode Oduto and Quadri Lateef, got more than they bargained for when they decided to attack the home of a Lagos housewife, who got furious at their effrontery and doused them with hot water, leading to their arrest and are now in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja.

The woman, who live with her family at the Kollington area of Alagbado on the outskirts of Lagos, according to police reports, was boiling water to make 'Poundo Yam' for her family when the dare-devils struck, demanding for money and gold. As they were busy ransacking the apartment, the woman sneaked into her kitchen and came back with the boiling water which she poured on Oduto while her husband seized the opportunity to disarm him of his gun and pinned him down. Lateef sensing they were in danger, took to his heels but the woman and her husband's screams alerted other residents who gave him a hot ursuit and apprehended him.

Apart from pouring the scalding water on Oduto, the woman also used the pot to hit his face repeatedly, smashing it beyond recognition.

Police investigators discovered that Lateef used to live in the area where they went to rob. It was gathered through interrogation that it was Lateef who told Oduto that he knew every nook and cranny of the area and was sure his knowledge would make the operation easy. Lateef picked a building, which he told Oduto was inhabited by a rich man, simply known as Mr Charles. When they reached the targeted building, the gate was locked, but the generator was on.

The two men quickly scaled the fence since they knew there were no dogs. Oduto switched off the generator and the two men took strategic positions. Oduto had a cut-to-size locally-made pistol, while Lateef had a toy gun. A few minutes after the generator went off, the owner of the house, Charles, stepped out of the house to find out what went wrong. Oduto pointed a gun at his head and herded him back into the house, while Lateef followed closely behind.

The robbers ordered the man to bring his money and gold. He told them that the money was in the master's bedroom. As they were walking towards his bedroom, the man suddenly turned and grabbed Oduto, trying to dispossess him of the gun. Rather than assist his partner, a petrified Lateef just stood and watched.

The man was able to pin Oduto down. Lateef who had watched as his partner was pinned down, took to his heels.

A police source narrated the funny incident:

"As Lateef took off, the man shouted thief! thief! His wife, who was cooking in the kitchen, rushed out. She had to use a rechargeable lantern to make out the figures on the ground since the generator was off. She saw her husband struggling to continue to pin Oduto down.

Immediately she realised what was happening, she ran back to the kitchen. She rushed back to the kitchen, came out with the hot water and poured it on the suspect's face. After she poured him the hot water, she used the pot to hit his face repeatedly. She ran outside and started shouting for help. Other residents ran to help and the police were invited. The suspect's face was a mess."‎

A suicide bomber, on New Year's day blew himself up outside a church in northeast Nigeria, leading to several injuries, according to a rescue worker.

"There was an explosion outside the ECWA church this morning. A suicide bomber who was restrained from getting into the church blew himself up," Vanguard quoted Abubakar Yakubu, who heads the Nigeria Red Cross in Gombe, as saying.

"Luckily no one was killed but some people were mildly injured."

A witness also told the news platform that a man arrived during the church service. "He insisted on riding through the barrier," said Dahiru Badamasi.

"It was while he was arguing with the volunteers that his suicide belt exploded."

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is believed to be caused by terror group Boko Haram, which has been responsible for series of attacks in Nigeria's northeast.

More than 10,000 people have been killed in the insurgency which began in 2009.

We didn’t rob; we only collected our dues – Suspects

The police have arrested four suspected robbers
at a Lagos market who claimed they did not
steal from the traders, but only came to collect
their dues.

It was learnt that the suspects- Onyenge
Osanie, Azuka Eboh, Ezelonwu Michael and
Afolabi Shakiru- were nabbed by the police while
they were looting some shops and robbing
traders at the Alaba International Market, Ojo,
Lagos.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects,
who are four members of a ten-man gang, were
arrested by operatives of the state Special Anti-
Robbery Squad on December 20.
According to the police, the gang, which is led by
a runaway suspect identified simply as Friday,
made use of locally-made guns in their
operations.

Our correspondent also learnt that most of the
gang's victims were phone dealers, and the gang
allegedly carted away about 70 smartphones and
Ipads which were worth about N1.5m.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, 35-year-old Osanie
said the gang robbed the traders and looted their
shops, because they refused to 'settle' them. He
added that they only targeted shops of traders
who had 'offended' the gang.

He said, "We usually work with phone dealers in
the market who specialise in selling stolen
phones. When we steal, they sell, and they then
settle us. But later on, some of them defaulted,
and we attacked their shops. It was not as if we
robbed them, we only came to ask for our
money.
"On that day, we had taken only 10 phones
before the police apprehended us. I had initially
escaped, but two gang members who were
caught at the scene later brought the police to
arrest me."
Osanie, a father of three, said he regretted
working with the gang, adding that if he was
released, he would not indulge in robbery again.
Also, 27-year-old Eboh confessed that the gang
did not only burgle shops, but also vandalised
some property during the operation.
He said, "What we learnt initially was that a
market chairman was coming to give out money
but he later failed to show up. That was when
we decided to deal with the traders. When we
got to the shops, we broke their glasses and
carted away expensive phones.
"I joined the gang because I did not have a job. I
have been living in hardship with my family."
Meanwhile, Michael, 22, said he had also gone
with the gang on three occasions, adding that
they took advantage of the traders'
'misbehaviour' to rob them.
"I was working as a truck driver before I met
them. I had gone out with the gang on three
occasions to rob in the market. We only took
advantage of the commotion of the market to
rob them. It was not deliberate," he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth
Nwosu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
"Investigations are still ongoing on the matter at
SARS," he added.

No comments :

The New Year celebration was a sour one for residents of 2, Morountola Street, Ijanikin area of Lagos, as a seven-month-old baby boy, Raphael Olawola, was reportedly burnt in a fire that consumed a bungalow in the area.

The fire was said to have started in one of the rooms at 2a.m., when the unidentified mother was cooking in her one bedroom apartment, while the baby was asleep.

Eyewitnesses' account said the woman allegedly stayed back to prepare food for the New Year celebration, while her husband went to church leaving their son inside the room.

Tragedy was said to have struck when the cooking pot went up in flames, while the woman was engaged at the back of the building.
A co-tenant, who noticed the fire was said to have raised an alarm but the fire spread very fast and consumed the entire room within seconds.

Un-neighbourly
It was gathered that the occupants of the buildings were not in good terms with one another, a situation which prevented quick response from co-tenants until the situation had got out of hand.

The Director, Lagos State Fire Services, Razaq Fadipe, who confirmed the develop-ment to Vanguard said his men got wind of the situation through a distress call.
He added that the fire had consumed the room before their arrival, but that the officials were able to curtail the fire from spreading to other apartments.
He said the building consist of six rooms and a shop, while the charred remain of the infant was recovered and handed over to the Police.

He said: "At 2: 07a.m., we responded to a distress call at 22, Morountola Street on Lagos/Badagry Expressway by Ijanikin, which is a bungalow building of six rooms and a shop, which fire was curtailed from spreading to other buildings.
"However, a male infant of about seven months old was discovered dead during the fire fighting operations and handed over to the Police from the Ijanikin Division.
"Our preliminary investigations reveal that the fire resulted from an in-room cooking, where the infant was also kept."
