Dbanj At 35; His Guts, His Travails...

No comments :

Popular Nigerian musician, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo internationally known as Dbanj today hits the age of 35.
To celebrate, the DB records boss it has gathered has decided to celebrate with his fans at a local food vendor known as 'Buka' situated Mushin area of Lagos.
Born on June 9, 1980 in the city of Zaira, Kaduna, Northern Nigeria to parents from Ijebu, Ogun state, Dbanj has over the years established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the Nigerian music industry. Dbanj who plays the harmonica, an instrument he inherited from his late brother emerged on the music scene in early 2005 alongside (now former) buddy and producer, Don Jazzy after the release of his monster single 'Tongolo'.
The duo went on to release impressive works together which saw the production of three albums 'No Long Thing, Funk You Up and The Entertainer'. The two partners would further enlarge their empire with the addition of other musicians to their Mo'hits imprint. This saw the signing of Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, D'Prince and K-Switch (the latter two being younger brothers of Don Jazzy and Dbanj respectively).
Mo'hits went on to release a compilation album 'Curriculum Vitae' which had popular tunes like 'Pere', 'Booty Call' and 'Ten Ten'.
In 2012, Dbanj and Don Jazzy's Mo'hits relationship ended after a much publicized unsettled difference which saw Don Jazzy establishing his own Mavin Records and Dbanj moving on to begin DB records with younger brother, K-switch being co-act.
Many observers are of the opinion that Dbanj might not really have surpassed his days while working with Don Jazzy since he moved on to do his own thing but the singer maintains he is absolutely doing well especially with the signing of new artists which include controversial Nollywood actress Tonto Dike aka Poko Lee.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that though he would have preferred that the process of electing the leaders as initiated and concluded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been followed, he was ready to work with the leadership of the National Assembly that emerged on Tuesday.
In his reaction to the election of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively, President Buhari said that “a constitutional process has somewhat occurred”.
Buhari’s position which was conveyed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina reiterated that his earlier statement that he had no preferred candidates in the election of the President of Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives still stands.
The statement reads:
President Muhammadu Buhari has noted the outcome of the just-concluded election of leaders of the National Assembly.
“A statement issued by the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) said the president would rather that the process of electing the leaders as initiated and concluded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been followed. Nonetheless the President took the view that a constitutional process has somewhat occurred.
“President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the Senate and the House of Representatives, and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected. That sentiment still stands.
“Though he would have preferred the new leaders to have emerged through the process established by the party”.

Adesina stressed that the stability of our constitutional order and overall interest of the common man were uppermost on the President’s mind, as far as the National Assembly elections were concerned.
The President called on all the elected representatives of the people to focus on the enormous task of bringing enduring positive change to the lives of Nigerians.
