The Sokoto State Government security outfit, Sokoto Marshals Corps, on Friday said it had prosecuted more than 100 motorcyclists for violating traffic rules in Sokoto city and its environs in the last two months.

The Commandant of the outfit, ACP Sa'idu Madawaki, disclosed this at a news conference in Sokoto when he reviewed the outfit's activities since it took off in November 2014.

He said the accused motorcyclists were prosecuted and convicted to various jail terms, adding that most of them were arrested for violating traffic lights, routes violation and related offences.

He noted that "some of them were also arrested for assaulting our personnel operating along the various roundabouts and inter- sections in the city."

The commandant promised that officers of the corps would continue to work diligently to further sanitise the roads.

Madawaki commended the level of cooperation between the outfit and other security agencies in the state.‎

According to him, the corps has 2,300 personnel deployed to all the 23 local governments of the state.

He said "the 2,300 personnel are categorised into traffic, security and environmental marshals.

"These officers were given rigorous military training before their deployment in a bid to further secure the lives and property of Sokoto residents". (NAN)

Nigeria Does Not Need 72-Yr-Old Grandfather As President – Former Anambra Gov, Peter Obi Slams Buhari

Mr Peter Obi, the immediate past governor of Anambra State and a honorary adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan has shared his perspective on the 2015 polls in this interview with Vanguard Newspaper.

The APC has said that Buhari is the best Nigerian leader ever, that he did it once and can do it again. What do you say about this?

At the age of 41, which was 31 years ago, Buhari staged a coup d'état and removed the democratically elected government of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and tried visibly to instil discipline and order in our society. This was both commendable and his greatest achievement. But the economic policies and actions of that government were disastrous, as Nigeria nearly turned into a pariah nation that no one wanted to deal with globally.

At the time, under the Buhari's government, confirmed Letters of Credit were rejected, because no one wanted to deal with Nigeria. Though I disagree that he was one of the best Nigerian leaders, even if we assume that he was the best 31 years ago, that is not the reason we should clone him back today at 72. The Singaporeans are not asking Lee Kwuan Yu to come back. Malaysians are not asking Mohamad to come back.

The Americans are also not asking Bill Clinton, who came to office ten years after Buhari's first outing and who had the best economic performance in the 21st century, to come back. Are we saying that Nigeria has not produced anyone who can do the job today?

Do you agree that Buhari has the capacity to stop Boko Haram if elected?
Gen. Buhari, as a respected, retired general and as an elder statesman, does not need an invitation, an appointment or an elective office to intervene on any national issue, especially issues of national security like the one facing the country at the moment. Elder statesmen all over the world do not wait to be invited before they step forward on matters of grave concern to their fatherland.

President Jonathan is running round sleeplessly and working with security agencies, in addition to forging bilateral ties to solve these problems. He will certainly be very glad to receive any suggestions from Buhari and I can assure you that Nigerians will be glad if he helps solve the problem as an elder statesman. He has said that he will summon a meeting of serving and retired generals to help solve the problem if elected, but he does not need to be elected to do so.

But some people are saying that he can deal with Boko Haram, the way he dealt with the Maitatsine unrest decades ago.

I have read in some places where the APC said that because Buhari stopped Maitaitsine in the 80s, he will also stop Boko today. I disagree entirely with this claim, because the stable global environment of the 80s cannot be compared with the volatile and terror-enveloped global environment of today. The socio-religious realities that threw up the Maitaisine group are different from the realities that threw up Boko Haram.

In the 80s, most countries were stable, but today the global instability, cutting across nations like Iraq, Syria and the Middle East, has created a labyrinth of terror. This is in addition to our African neighbours, , like Libya, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Tunisia and others, which are all facing various forms of instability and terrorist activities. The level of sophistication in technology and military hardware is also totally different today. No one would have ever imagined in the 80s that terrorists would go into the US and bomb the World Trade Centre, or attack the Pentagon. But we all saw it happen.

These are realities that need to shape our understanding of the world of today. What is happening has a global coloration, because the ISIS flag is the flag you see with Alshaba in Somalia and Boko Haram in Nigeria. You can now see why we cannot compare yesterday with what we are seeing today. Who would have thought that Nigerians would turn into suicide bombers?‎

The Nigerian military has debunked the report that suspected Boko Haram gunmen have kidnapped 40 boys and young men in a remote village in northeast Nigerian Borno state on New Year's eve‎, residents who fled the isolated settlement said on Saturday.

Even though efforts to reach the Director of Defence Information (DDI) Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade to speak on the matter proved abortive, an authoritative military source dismissed the report as a foreign media propaganda with their local conspirators.

The top official raised doubts over the reports, saying that there was a similar story few weeks ago quoting figures of men and women that were kidnapped but could not be substantiated.

According to the military authorities, those rumours of kidnaps are meant to create panic, sustain the atmosphere of insecurity in the North East and ultimately ridicule the nation's armed forces, adding that it "should be scrutinized and not swallowed hook, line and sinker since they have their agenda".

The source said: "Is this not one of those foriegn propaganda they are spreading with their local conspirators. It is one of those phony stories being spread by the locals giving conflicting figures and alarms that are not true.

"The other time they said its about 150 being kidnapped and were they able to justify it? No. They are just trying to be alarmist and that is why the military will keep them guessing".

Many followers of Nigeria's most prestigious musical awards were left stunned when they got to know that comedian Bovi would not be hosting the Headies 2014.
Questions started coming from all angles and some even came up with different suggestions like something went wrong between the organizers and the popular comedian.
Well, the real reason he couldn't host the show has finally been revealed. The show was initially slated to hold on October 25, 2014 and he was in for the date and preparations and rehearsals had already started when the organizers decided to change the venue and the date due to some logistic reasons and he was already billed to have a show on the new date picked. So he couldn't just combine two shows in one night.
Considering the calibre of the awards, the organizers had to get someone of a like mind with him in the name of BasketMouth and everyone present at the awards knew it was a job well done by our host.‎

A famous prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ, CCC, Micheal Olubode, also known as Micadeolu, has made a shocking prediction ahead of the 2015 presidential elections.
Prophet Micadeolu, while revealing his 2015 prophecy on Thursday, predicted that incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan will retain his seat as the president of Nigeria after next month's election.
The pastor stated that the lord revealed to him that Jonathan will be used by God to build the country's economy.

"I want to let the people of Nigeria know that The Lord will return His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to his presidential seat.
"Despite many hatred for him, it pleases the Lord God of Celestial to increase his tenure at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
"The Lord revealed to me that the purpose of making him remain in government is to use him to build Nigeria's economy. He will surely bring good luck to us.
"He will have many troubles, but he will overcome them all just as my servant David." So says the Lord," the prophet said.

BOMBSHELL: Jonathan is the last PDP President + 2015 Prophecies By Primate Elijah Ayodele

Highly respected prophet and founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele Babatunde, in this interview with Daily Independent's News Editor, Ajibola Abayomi, calls for prayers as he makes ground breaking predictions for 2015. Excerpts:

General elections
Nigerians should observe seven days prayer in January to avert crisis that may plunge the nation into serious confusion during and after the polls. This year's election will throw up a lot of issues. President Goodluck Jonathan will do everything to win a second term, however, he needs 14 days prayer to have a peaceful reign to enable him complete a second term, if elected.

International community and some heads of states will attempt to work against his re-election. Let us pray to stall violence that will erupt after the presidential election in February that may affect the conduct of governorship election in many states. The President should also commit his health and that of his wife to prayer.

Obasanjo, Edwin Clark and Bola Tinubu, should
rebuke what can cut short their political career. They are in the last political game. New leaders will take over from them soon.

The next Speaker of House of Reps will not live up to expectation as he will be a mere stooge of the President. The Senate will always be at loggerheads with the Presidency. Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega will be confused during the polls. There will be several gimmicks to cajole the INEC to rig the election. Prayers must be offered so that the commission will not lose some of its staff to accident or attack before and during the election. E-voting will not work. There will be ballot box snatching and stuffing during the election.

Jonathan should do more to fight corruption and rescue the abducted Chibok girls otherwise opposition will shock him with propaganda on that.

Both the PDP and APC will soon be polarised by crisis. The national chairman of PDP, Adamu Mu'azu will have problems and may be removed from office; tell him to pray. Jonathan is in the midst of enemies who are after his life. The Presidential jets should be sanctified to avoid artificial disaster.

No matter what, Jonathan will be the last PDP President in Nigeria. I don't see a landslide victory in the presidential election. To be frank, neither the victory of Jonathan or General Muhammadu Buhari can guarantee peace except we pray well. Jonathan should be wary of diplomatic rows with foreign countries. There won't be election in some states.

Both PDP and APC will share victory across the country particularly in the South-West and the North. The election will be characterised by advanced rigging. APC will later sue PDP. Anambra State governor, Willy Obiano, will have problems with big names in the state and his predecessor, Peter Obi. APGA's flag will soon be swallowed by the PDP. The glory of Lagos APC is fading except the party hierarchy makes hasty restitution otherwise time is not on their side as regards the governorship election. They have committed a blunder with the choice of Akinwunmi Ambode as governorship candidate. Only prayer can change the tide.

PDP will spring surprises and shock APC. If PDP works hard, the party will win Lagos governorship; however, the party's candidate, Jimi Agbaje, needs prayers. Jonathan will not take Nigeria to the Promised Land. Let us pray against the death of an ex-President.

Vice President Namadi Sambo should pray against what may make him witness political redundancy in office both before and after 2015 polls. I could see his office being negotiated at higher level. APC will face an uphill task to retain Edo and Oyo states. Governor Abiola Ajimobi should be careful not to lose to Rashidi Ladoja of Accord Party.

In Rivers State, if PDP underrates APC, the latter will win, though the election will be marred with violence. Attempts by the opposition parties to defeat Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun State will not materialise. If APC elects right governorship candidate, the party will dislodge PDP from Ondo State in 2016.

PDP will win Delta and Cross River states but there will be crisis in Abia and Ebonyi states even though the party will win there.

APC will win in Sokoto. PDP will find it hard to retain Kaduna State because there will be serious crisis there. Kano State will be difficult for PDP to win, so also Katsina State. PDP will win Jigawa and Taraba. Prayer must be offered to avert the death of former ministers from the South-West and South-South and to douse serious political tension in Kwara, Jos, Ekiti, Plateau, Kano, Kaduna, Imo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Yobe and Taraba States.
