THE Oyo State Police Command has arrested some suspects who were allegedly involved in Ekiti jail break which occurred in November last year.
The suspects, according to the police, were arrested in connection with another robbery incident.
While parading the suspects at the state police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Katsina, said the command pre-election efforts also led to the arrest of eight armed robbers that had earlier snatched a Toyota Camry from Madam Oluwafolakemi Fabode in Akure, Ondo State, and thereafter proceeded to Oyo State and attacked Joba Pharmacy and a filling station at Iroko on Oyo/Ibadan road.
He explained further that as the suspects fled    the scene    they   ran into a nearby ambush.
"Investigation also revealed that the leaders    of the robbery    gang, one Boluwaji    Olawumi, John Isaac and Fagboyegun Wale were among those that escaped in the Ekiti jail break on November 30, 2014 where they were awaiting trial for armed robbery and murder."

As the First Lady of The United States Of America, there is some sort of fashion rule that defines that the FLOTUS be conservatively dressed at all times, but Michelle Obama broke all those rules by stepping out in an white off shoulder busrier knee-length white dress.

The bustier detail adds sex appeal to the ensemble, and the First Lady really set this look off by pairing the statement gown with pointed silver metallic pumps. She wore glitzy silver chandelier earrings, and these gorgeous jewels were a perfect finish to the shoulder baring look, this look seems daring for the first Lady but Mrs Obama kills it.

An Ex-Vice President of Nigeria and a former aspirant of the APC has congratulated the about to be declared winner of Nigeria's presidential election, General Muhammadu Buhari.‎ In a congratulatory message released moments ago, Atiku asserted that "history will continue to vindicate the just"‎ laying credence to a quote by Nnamdi Azikwe. He also thanked the President for giving Nigerians a free and fair election which he described as historic.
Read full message below...

My hearty congratulations to His Excellency, General Muhammadu Buhari, for being elected the next president of our beloved county, Nigeria. You have led our party, the All Progressives Congress to an unprecedented victory within two years of it's official formation, and in so doing, written the most important chapter of our democracy.
The great Nnamdi Azikiwe once wrote that "history will continue to vindicate the just". Your victory in the polls, with votes from across the length and breadth of our country, bears witness to the acceptance of not just our party, the APC, but also your ideology of justice, fair play and zero tolerance for corruption as the bedrock for national rebirth.
At this historic moment, it is most important to say a hearty thank you to every Nigerian who voted for the APC. Your votes have not just elected the first opposition party into federal power, but has also set a precedent which will have positive implications for democracy across Africa.

Dear GMB, the journey has just begun. Millions of Nigerians have put their trust in you, because they were not satisfied with the status quo. You represent the hope of a new generation of Nigerians, and you cannot afford to fail them. Our party has made a promise of change to our young people, to secure and rebuild our country, create jobs and opportunity, and improve citizens'  welfare. We will stand behind you to ensure we keep those promises, just like we did during these elections.
Our country needs a new direction. We have voted for you, and our party won the election, but when you assume our highest office, you must become the president of not just the APC, but all of Nigeria, including the people who did not vote for you. We look up to you to heal the fractures of our country, and truly unite this country like never before.

To President Jonathan, I want to specially thank you for conducting a historic election. Your party may have lost the elections, but you have won the admiration of the world by not interfering with the wishes of Nigerians. History will be kind to you.

It is my sincere hope that we will all come together as one country, to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

God bless Nigeria.

Orubebe Opens Up On Why He Disrupted INEC Proceedings

Earlier today, a former minister of the Niger-Delta, Elder Godsday Orubebe displayed a drama which shocked the whole world who were viewing the live collation of results by the electoral body.
On why he acted that way, he had this to say: "That was the best way to express our grievances. If we didn't do that way he wouldn't have responded to us. We had met him before to lay our complaints which was thrown at us. APC sent a petition to him electronically which he promptly attended to but he ignored all our complaints. Infact when we submitted a petition to his office yesterday, his secretary later came and threw the petition at my collegue".

On how he expects Nigerians to now view him, he said, "now Nigerians have seen what really played out. if I didn't do what I did, the INEC chairman wouldn't have responded to my allegations but after my act, people told him to respond which he reluctantly did."

Now back to the collation centre where two states are expected to be announced next.

Igbos Grab Three Rep Seats In Lagos As APC Loses Six Reps

The All Progressives Congress has lost five House of Representatives seats to the Peoples Democratic Party and a seat to the Accord Party in Lagos.
Investigations by our correspondent showed that most of the reps lost in Igbo- dominated local government areas.
Sources in the APC said the love the people of the South-East have for President Goodluck Jonathan positively affected the PDP candidates, some of whom had not even been rigorously campaigning.

In Amuwo Odofin local government, which has a very high Igbo population, especially in areas like Kirikiri, Satellite Town and FESTAC, the PDP candidate, Oghene Egboh, who is from the Niger-Delta, defeated Mr. Ganiyu Olukolu of the APC.

In Ajeromi/Ifelodun, which is one of the most densely populated areas in Lagos State and is home to Ajegunle (another Igbo dominated area), the PDP candidate, Mrs. Rita Orji, who also hails from the South-East, defeated Taiwo Adenekan of the APC.
The story was the same in the Igbo-dominated Ojo LG, where the PDP candidate, Mr. Tajudeen Obasa, won the seat.

In Surulere federal constituency 2, which is home to Aguda and a few Igbo settlements, Mr. Tunji Soyinka of the PDP defeated Mr. Hakeem Bamgbala of the APC.
It was learnt that apart from the 'Igbo' factor, the incumbent rep, Mr. Aliyu Kazeem, had been in court with Bamgbala over the conduct of the primary.
It was learnt that the division within the party gave the PDP the opportunity to penetrate the community.
An APC leader in Surulere said, "We are still in shock. Haliyu Kazeem, who is the incumbent, lost the primary in December last year and refused to work with Bamgbala. He took Bamgbala to court and they are still slugging it out.
"If they had put things in order, we would not have lost. Bamgbala is a former chairman of Aguda Local Council Development Area and a good grass roots politician."

In Mushin federal constituency 2, the APC candidate, Yemi Alli, lost to Dauda Kako-Aare of the Accord Party.
Kako-Aare, who is the incumbent, lost at the APC primary last December to Alli and defected to Accord.

In Oshodi/Isolo federal constituency 2 as earlier reported by BBN, the incumbent, Mr. Akeem Munir, lost to Mr. Tony Nwoolu of the PDP.‎

Post Election Violence! Amaechi Imposes Curfew In Rivers

There was panic last night in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, when the state government announced the imposition of a curfew in the state.‎
The government said the move was aimed at stemming the rising tension that accompanied the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state at the weekend.
Secretary to the Rivers State Government, George FeyIi, who made the announcement, said the curfew would be effective from 7 pm till 6 am, until the tension in the state abates.
The sudden announcement however caused panic, as most people were caught unawares, especially as there were no reports of violence in the Port Harcourt metropolis.

Earlier in the day, female supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had converged on the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja to protest what they considered the non-conduct of election in the state at the weekend, even though results for the elections in the state were released on Monday by the State's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).

The post-election crisis in the state has snowballed since the governor, Chibuike Amaechi, demanded the result sheet at his polling unit during the voting exercise at the weekend.

The refusal by the INEC official to give him the result sheet prompted him and his supporters into boycotting the elections, their subsequent claim that no elections held in Rivers State, and street protests by APC supporters against the electoral body.

Owing to the crisis, INEC has set up a three-man committee to investigate the crisis that bedevilled the presidential and National Assembly elections in Rivers State.
According to a statement late Monday signed by the Secretary of INEC, Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, the commision said the three-man committee headed by Mrs. Thelema Iremirem, who is also the Supervisory National Commissioner for the state, has Col. M.K. Hammanga and Prof. Lai Olurode as members.

The committee will advise the commission on the crisis and verify the veracity of the claims and allegations therein and advise INEC and the Chief Electoral Commissioner /Returning Officer (Prof. Attahiru Jega) for the presidential election.

The fact-finding committee that has since departed Abuja for Rivers State, is expected to submit its report before the end of the collation of results of other states.

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, yesterday, bemoaned the fact that not less than fifty persons were killed during and after last Saturday's presidential and National Assembly elections.
However, the commission, via a statement it issued in Abuja yesterday, commended Nigerians for refusing to be intimidated or discouraged by operational and logistical hiccups that trailed the election in various parts of the country.
The statement was signed by the Chairman, Governing Council of NHRC, Professor Chidi Odinkalu.
The commission noted that there had been incidents, reports and allegations of various forms of violence, including some reported attacks by extremists in some parts of North-Eastern Nigeria, which it said was designed to frustrate the electoral process.
It said that varying acts of violence, which resulted in fatalities were reported in Akwa Ibom, Borno, Bauchi, Edo, Gombe, Lagos, Osun, Rivers, and Yobe states.
It said: "At the end of yesterday, the number of persons reported killed in these attacks and incidents is over 50.
"This number includes one state legislator, a community leader and two ad hoc election staff of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, allegedly killed in an extremist attack in Gombe State, as well as the killing of an officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces in Rivers State.
"There were also reported cases of injuries from politically-motivated violence in Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Lagos, and Kano states as well as allegations of snatching of ballot boxes, card readers and related election materials in some states, including Akwa Ibom, Benue, Gombe, Imo, Niger and Rivers states."
It stressed that there were also isolated but very worrying reports of arson attacks on assets of INEC and that of Police in some parts of the Niger Delta.
It blamed the incidents on widespread availability of small arms and light weapons in some parts of the country, especially in parts of Akwa Ibom, Imo, Delta, Rivers, and Benue states.

Oshiomhole, Dokpesi In War Of Words

Media mogul, Aleogho Raymond Dokpesi, yesterday, refuted the claim by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State that he (Dokpesi) went to the state on election day to induce voters with money to vote in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He expressed disappointment with the attitude of the governor towards him on the said day, saying he had mistaken Oshiomhole for a decent man.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Dokpesi, who insisted that he was in the state on a different mission, regretted the comment by the governor, adding: "I made a mistake in my life in believing that Oshiomhele was a decent man."
Dokpesi said that on the day of the presidential election, at 5:20p.m., on his way back to Abuja, he received a distress call from one of the women leaders in Auchi, Hajia Hadiza Umoru, who said she was at Aibotse/Igbe Primary School, off Igbe Road in Auchi, adding that the incident led to him being shot at on the day of Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He said the bullets fired at his armoured Landcruiser vehicle would have hit him on the neck.
"As soon as I arrived the APC chieftain absconded and we waited for the reinforcement of policemen to protect the voters who were determined to vote. I stayed in my armoured Landcruiser vehicle with registration number Abuja YAB 173 HG. I never stepped out of the vehicle as everyone could attest to.
"A man who was later identified as the zonal chairman of the APC,  then called on their supporters to kill, burn and destroy the vehicle I was in. I pleaded that none of the military officers should shoot as thugs/hoodlums had begun to shoot at my car and haul various dangerous weapons at me."

APGA Claim PDP Used INEC, Army To Steal Figures Which Their Party Got During National Assembly Polls

The All  Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, yesterday, accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of conspiring with the Army, Police and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to rewrite last Saturday's National Assembly elections results and announced a falsified one in favour of the PDP.
A member of Board of Trustees, BoT of APGA, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, who made the accusation in a telephone chat with newsmen, said the results announced yesterday by INEC which gave PDP victory in all the three senatorial zones and 11 House of Representatives seats, was exactly the opposite of what APGA scored during the exercise.
According to Ezeonwuka, "these results credited to PDP was what APGA scored in the election but the PDP bought over the Army, the Police and INEC to rewrite the result in favour of PDP and thereafter announced this falsified result."
He, however, expressed optimism that APGA would go to the tribunal and other courts of competent jurisdiction to recover its stolen mandate.
But the Director-General of Princess Stella Oduah Campaign Organisation, Chief Edwin Pandola Okwuosa, told  Vanguard on phone that the landslide victory recorded by Princess Oduah, former Aviation Minister and PDP candidate for Anambra North senatorial zone, was a reflection of her general acceptability by the electorate in the zone.
Okwuosa noted that the total of 143,478 votes scored by Oduah against APGA's Dubem Obaze's 70,906 votes was a great margin to show that Oduah had the people's confidence which prompted such an overwhelming mandate.
He, therefore, commended the electorate for the confidence reposed in Oduah and assured them that she would give them effective representation as contained in her manifestoes.

APC Says Buruji Kashamu Bribed Voters

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State has accused a Senator-elect, Prince Buruji Kashamu, of inducing voters during Saturday's national assembly elections in Ogun East Senatorial District in which Buruji Kashamu emerged winner.

The deputy director of  Senator Ibikunle Amosun Campaign Organisation, Bisi Adegbuyi, stated this during a press briefing in Abeokuta on Monday, claiming that  it was "marred by gross irregularities, inducement and intimidation of voters, manipulation and falsification of the results."
The party, however, vowed to contest the result at the tribunal,  maintaining that Kashamu  allegedly induced voters,  manipulated and falsified results of the polls.
At the election, the APC's candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District, Dapo Abiodun, the party's candidates for Remo and Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituencies, Olayinka Odufuwa and Sulaiman Olubiyi respectively lost in the election.
Adegbuyi, said the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, did not reflect the wishes of the people of Ogun East, describing the   election   as a mere charade.
He said the party has  "incontrovertible evidence of the manipulations that took place and the roles played by certain individuals."
According to him,"We therefore reject the results of the national assembly elections, particularly the one for the senatorial seat and the two federal constituencies, Remo and Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside.
"We want the entire world to know that the results as announced by INEC reflect predetermined, manipulated and fictitious figures forged by a rigging machinery of the PDP led by its senatorial candidate, Mr. Buruji Kashamu.
"The APC is determined to challenge the results of the Ogun East senatorial elections and the two House of Representatives seats within the confines of the law."
But, in his reaction, Kashamu denied the allegations, saying the claims by the APC are totally unfounded.
Kashamu who spoke through his media aide, Austin Oniyokor, noted that if there was rigging and intimidation, as alleged, the accusers should supply the details.
He said: "Ordinarily, we would not have dignified them with a response. You can see that the statement is loud in noise and lacking in substance.
"If they say there was rigging, intimidation and manipulation during the election, they should supply the details, rather than hiding under some nebulous excuses that say nothing."

He said the team was impressed by the level of disciplines showed by the electorates.
"It also commends the enthusiasm, maturity, patience and sense of civic responsibility demonstrated by the electorate and hopes that the same spirit of respect for order and discipline will characterise the rest of the electoral process".

The African Union Election Observer Mission led by former President of Liberia, Amos Sawyer said that the Mission was encouraging all political parties which might have grievances to resort to legal channels that are available for such purposes.

He said the AU team visited 319 polling units and that "the outcome of the elections showed that 100% of the PVCs were authenticated while 59% did not authenticate the fingerprints.

Pointing out other challenges, Dr Ajibewa said, ECOWAS Observers also noted that Electoral materials and INEC officials arrived late in many polling stations across the country leading to a delay in accreditation and voting processes.
"As a result, patience and discipline earlier displayed by voters were over-stretched leading to tension and disorderliness in some polling stations he explained.

ECOWAS Mission further said "Cases of attempt to snatch ballot papers were reported in some polling stations leading to instances of uproar, shootings and sporadic violence in the affected polling stations".
Acknowledging these short falls, "INEC issued a Communique authorizing manual accreditation of voters in the affected polling units and extended polling by one day in the instances where accreditation was suspended", he concluded.

ECOWAS however applauded the efforts of INEC towards ensuring peaceful organization and conduct of polls and the gains made by the Nigerian Military in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency

SEVEN ladies who  went for night vigil for deliverance in a new generation church, located at 2nd Cemetery Road, Benin-City, were allegedly raped by armed bandits who stormed the church at about 4am on Thursday.
The robbers were said to have earlier raided a  building near Ewuotubu community where they robbed some tenants living in four different flats in the compound. It was learnt  that two persons, including a police officer, were shot dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the process.
What was supposed to be an all-night marathon prayer session , tagged 'Koboko Night', meant to cast out demons tormenting some members of the  church, turned sour as the masked armed robbers, numbering six, shot sporadically, ordering the members to go back to the church shortly after they said the final prayers to depart the church.
The robbers had, on storming the church premises, rained bullets on the roof and ordered members to lie down. Consequently, they  raped the women.
One of the victims, who narrated her ordeal to Sunday Vanguard, said, "Though I was not raped, I was beaten mercilessly when they were asking us to identify the pastor and we refused. After collecting our phones, money and jewelleries, they ordered some of the ladies to undress. They threatened to kill them if they refused and, of course, they removed their clothes and were raped one by one.
"It was actually two churches that they attacked. They raped five women in our church. Later, we found out that they raped two others in a church close to ours. They ransacked the church and collected any cash they found and escaped. It was a horrible sight".
The raped women are said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital on Ekenwan Road, Benin City.

Melaye, who was at the venue of the declaration, told our correspondent that the victory was for the people.
"It is a call to duty and service and I will do my best not to disappoint the people who entrusted their votes in me. The people of Kogi West have made their choice and I promise that they will be given the best of Senatorial representation."‎

Pregnant Woman Kills Husband For Supporting President Jonathan

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.

The incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple's one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction.
There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC. An argument which degenerated into a fight over whose choice would hold sway reportedly ensued between them.
In the process, Onyiyechi allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife in the chest region.
Another version said the deceased, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, told his pregnant wife to take the okro she was grating inside the room, to the veranda which also served as kitchen , an instruction she reportedly disobeyed, following which an argument which led to a fight occurred.

When Vanguard visited the scene of the incident yesterday, the couple's apartment was under lock . Their neighbours however described the suspect as an amicable person who had never quarreled with anyone since she moved into the building.
One of the tenants who spoke on condition of anonymity told Vanguard that they did not witness how the suspect allegedly stabbed her husband.
But he explained that : " We were all outside waiting to vote when Onyiyechi rushed out, shouting for help. Out of curiosity, we all ran inside, only to discover blood all over the ground, on entering their apartment.
"On closer observation, we noticed that the blood was from her husband chest region. We met him on the ground. Before we could rush him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost.
Perhaps, he would have survived the attack had Onyiyechi called for help early. From all indication, it was clear that she attempted to manage the situation immediately the incident occurred. It was when she discovered that the situation had overwhelmed her that she raised alarm.
"I do not know the name of her husband. We only know that of his wife, who we fondly call Onyiyechi. The irony of this matter is that she is not cantankerous.
"She has never beaten a little child, let alone to fight with any neighbor. Again on that day, we saw both of them together. They were seen sitting outside, one hour before the incident occurred. Policemen from Ejigbo later came to remove the corpse to the Isolo morgue".
