The Nigeria Police few minutes ago released a statement explaining why there was heavy presence of police officers at the National Assembly this morning. The security presence prevented Tambuwal and other lawmakers from gaining access into the Assembly ground. What transpired after was the teargassing of the Speaker and his Comrade-In-Arms.

Below is the statement signed by the force Public Relations Officer, Ag. CP Emmauel C. S. Ojukwu, psc and  made available to BlackBox Nigeria...

Following an intelligence report of a likely invasion of the House of Representatives by hoodlums and thugs, the Nigeria Police Force promptly deployed its personnel to the premises to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Consequently, the Police condoned the area and began screening of all members and visitors alike.

In the course of this lawful exercise, Alh. Aminu Tambuwal CFR, arrived the venue with a motley crowd, who broke the cordon, assaulted the Police and evaded due process and the Police had the duty to restore order and normalcy, using lawful means

The IGP seizes this medium to warn all political actors and their followers to respect constituted authority and due process and to desist from the use of thugs to pursue their agenda.

The Nigeria Police shall continually apply all lawful means to prevent a breakdown of law and order in all segments of the society and shall apply the full weight of the law on any political actor who violates the peace and security of the nation.

Philosopher's Corner:- What Does Christianity and Islam Say About Polygamy?

Marriage, according to online wikipedia, is a socially or ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them, between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws.

The definition of marriage varies according to different cultures, but it is principally an institution in which interpersonal relationships, usually sexual, are acknowledged. In some cultures, marriage is recommended or considered to be compulsory before pursuing any sexual activity. When defined broadly, marriage is considered cultural and universal.

There are several categories of marriages in the world today but the most popular among them are monogamy and polygamy.

Monogamy is a form of marriage in which an individual has only one spouse during their lifetime or at any one time.

Polygamy is a marriage which includes more than two partners. When a man is married to more than one wife at a time, the relationship is called polygamy, and there is marriage bond between the wives.

In the muslim world, the Qur’an did not frown at polygamy as we can see in the qur'an
“And if you fear that you will not deal fairly by the orphans, marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if you fear that you cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only)” (4:3).

The Bible contains many accounts of Christian polygamists. The Lord blessed and used Bible polygyny for His own purposes and glory and polygyny will rebuild Israel in the future Kingdom.

God does not condemn polygamy, never calls polygamy adultery, wickedness or a fleshly perversion. Polygamy was not abolished in the New Testament as is commonly assumed. Christians practiced polygamy for 300 years after the NT. As God's children we need to accept God's Word on this subject. Our Heavenly Father did not ask us to like His Word but expects us, as His obedient children to believe it. He did not create the dislike for polygamy since He is a friend of, and loves polygamists.

Are all Christians against polygamy? No, man-made religions teach monogamy only. Are there Bible verses, any Scriptures against polygamy? No, not one verse can be found which plainly condemns polygyny; figuratively God Himself has more than one "wife".

Many Christians are probably misinformed on the subject of polygamy, or better still polygyny. Some reactions against it are purely emotive; in ways unknown this subject touches deep personal issues. If this Bible subject brings fear, then the real causes of that fear should be carefully sought. Truth will liberate such Christians from fear, insecurity and the emotional bondage that the monogamy as the only tradition that is accepted. Forced monogamy is a failure for many, and has brought about divorce deceit and hypocrisy in the Christian community.

This article is not promoting polygyny lifestyles; it only raise to defend the Bible truth of polygyny against the horrors of half truths and out of context Scripture used against it. We are not implying or demanding that Christians should practice polygamy Christians are free to chose to be either monogamous, polygamous or remain single in the service of the Lord.

Moses, the inspired author of Genesis 2:4, had two wives, Zipporah a descendant of Abraham and the Ethiopian woman a descendant of Ham. Moses and the entire nation of Israel saw no "implied command" or "creation ideal" to be monogamous in Gen.2:24. Paul uses Gen.2:24 in the matter of a harlot in 1Cor.6:16 so Paul didn't think Gen.2:24 meant one man and one woman only.

It would horrify believers to know that God is a polygynous God in His relationship with Israel and Judah (Jer.31:31-32, Jer.3 & Ez.23) but they are only horrified because they are deceived by our false traditions; by reading into Scripture the western cultural concepts of monogamy only.

When our God speaks of marriage He does not differentiate. He calls a husband a husband if the man has one wife or four. He calls a wife a wife whether she is alone or with sister wives.  Monogamy and polygamy are words not found in the Scriptures of truth; Gen.2:24 is not offended by polygamy else God contradicted Himself by giving King David multiple wives (2Sam.12:8) and had instructed the Israelites how to sin in Lev.18:17-18 and Deut.21:15-17.

So much blessing comes to us and the world through polygyny. In Matthew 1, three out of the first four men in our Lord's genealogy were polygamists so please don't tell the Lord "only bad things come from polygamy", you might offend Him. Since our Lord came through polygamy and if God calls polygynists holy, it is time His children stopped resisting God and His Word. There is nothing to fear in agreeing with our God of grace.

Praise the Lord; many theologians in the upper echelons of Christian academia are now writing against the monogamy only tradition. Polygamists, both ancient and modern, are part of God's family as the day of glory will show. Any Christian standing for this truth might be condemned, marginalized and rejected as not having any value as a friend or servant of the Lord, yet, God loved, fellowshipped with, used and blessed polygamists and was not ashamed to be called their God, Hebs.11:16.

The "church" has tried, condemned and murdered polygynists and one wonders what they would do with Abraham, David and many other friends of God if they were in the assemblies today. Would Abraham be admitted as a deacon or left in the car park? Zealous missionaries are breaking up polygamous families, forcing mothers and children into desperate situations; this zeal is religious but not Scriptural. It defends church traditions; it does not defend God's Word.

The first polygamist mentioned in the Bible is Lamech, whose two wives were Adah and Zillah (Genesis 4:19). Many important figures had more than one wife, such as Esau (Genesis 26:34; Genesis 28:6-9), Abraham (Genesis 16:3, Genesis 21:1-13, Genesis 25:1, Genesis 25:6), Moses (Exodus 2:21; Exodus 18:1-6, Numbers 12:1), Jacob (Genesis 29:15-28), Gideon (Judges 8:29-32), Elkanah (1 Samuel 1:1-8), David (1 Samuel 25:39-44; 2 Samuel 3:2-5; 2 Samuel 5:13-16) and Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-3).

In the time around Jesus' birth, polygamy (also called bigamy or digamy in texts) was understood to have had several spouses consecutively, as evidenced for example by Tertullian's work De Exhortatione Castitatis (chapt. VII.).Saint Paul answered this problem by allowing widows to remarry (1 Cor. vii. 39. and 1 Tim 5:11–16). Paul says that only one man women older than 60 years can make the list of Christian widows, but that younger widows should remarry to hinder sin. By demanding that leaders of the Church be a one woman man, Saint Paul excluded remarried widowers from having influence. This was a more strict understanding of monogamy than Roman law codified, and it was new and unusual that the demand was made on men.

Now can we say the Bible and the Qur’an lied?

To be continued.

BBN Editorial!!! President Jonathan At 57; The Man, His Headache

No comments :
Add BBN on 2BAFB965

So today 20th of November is President Jonathan's birthday as he hits the age of 57.
Born on November 20, 1957 to local boat makers, Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan is the 14th Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He holds a BSC in Zoology, Msc in Hydrobiology and Fisheries biology and a PhD in Zoology all from the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers state.
He was a former lecturer and environmental-protection officer who was relatively unknown until the crisis which ensued in Bayelsa during the money laundry case involving the then Governor of the state.

Jonathan was made President in May,2010 after a drama involving the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua which saw the entire political bloc in the country move against an alleged cabal who was holding the country to ransom.

Jonathan's emergence as President is one filled with drama following an impressive rise since Nigeria returned to independence in 1999. He was elected alongside former Principal, Depreye Alaheimesigha as Deputy Governor after which he became Governor following the ouster of Alams in 2005 in the oil rich South South state of Bayelsa.
He was later picked as the running mate of Yar'Adua for the 2007 general election and later became substantive President following Yar'Adua's death.

President Jonathan has been described as the most criticised Nigerian President and this can be traced to have begun in January 2012 following an unpopular decision by GEJ to remove fuel subsidy. This led to nationwide unrest and condemnation from all and sundry.

The President has also been under fire following a reported incapability to tackle the problem of insurgency being perpetuated by terror group Boko Haram in the country's North East Region. Boko Haram has reportedly killed hundreds of thousands of Nigerians mostly women and children and the continued detention of 219 girls has elicited global condemnation with the harshtag #BringBackOurGirls going viral.

The president have also been heavily attacked for his seemingly soft stance on corruption as the opposition accuse him of being one of the most corrupt leaders the country have seen. The scandal involving former Aviation minister, Stella Oduah put the government under more critical challenge and GEJ wasn't spared any attack.

President Jonathan has further been under attack with his use of the military in civil cases and the opposition and civil society groups have described his government of being a reminiscing version of the dark days of military rule.

GEJ faces a great challenge next year as the opposition APC has vowed to throw him out of office. It is being predicted that former military ruler, General Muhamadu Buhari would pick the opposition ticket to challenge GEJ at the polls.

ALBUM REVIEW: PSquare – Double Trouble

It was an uncertain Monday morning, but one thing that was sure I was buying, PSquare's "Double Trouble" album which has made so much buzz on every social media. I went to four different stores and they all said the same " The album was sold out". So I said to myself this album must be really great .

It was PSquare's 6th studio album titled "Double Trouble" that had big names like DonJazzy , T.I, Dave Scott , Awilo , Jermaine Jackson. The first thing that caught my attention was the mixing and mastering of the songs which defined clarity from an excellent angle . The sound quality was obviously foreign but lost the vibez we knew the duo for.

The boys are getting richer by day, so what do you expect? They tried to bring back the youthful expressions in some of their songs but still, the energy was blank. Like they said the album had its specific market . It's for the chilling men.

Lyrically,  'Double Trouble' was a little bit too Igboish and lacked depth but its PSquare now, give them a break, they already have kids.LOL. The duo kept every song on low tempo with some foreign feel which shows their intention. "The foreign market" .

"Collabo" is another great song that was included on the album. Big ups to Don Jazzy. He is music, not a music producer . Well, the Album is a great one but not energetic PSquare we all knew.

Rating this album, I will rate it average, 3.5 over 6 because for this generation it will sound too average, but for the adults, it will be the ultimate.

Honduran beauty queen has been found shot dead in a suspected crime of passion just days before she was due to compete in the Miss World pageant in London, police said on Wednesday.

The bodies of Maria Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister Sofia, 23, were found buried near a river in the mountainous region of Santa Barbara in western Honduras, said Leandro Osorio, head of the criminal investigation unit.

Police suspect that Plutarco Ruiz, Sofia's boyfriend, shot and killed the elder sister in a fit of jealousy after seeing her dancing with "another person or something similar," then shot Maria Jose and buried the bodies, Osorio said.

"This is the main hypothesis we have for this crime, based on the witnesses and investigations we've done," he added.

Police took Ruiz and another man into custody on Tuesday, confiscating two pistols and their pick-up truck.

Alvarado, a student who aspired to become a career diplomat, had been due to take part in the Miss World pageant that starts on Thursday and culminates in the final in London on Dec. 14.

The sisters went missing Nov. 13, when they were seen leaving a party in a car without a licence plate in Santa Barbara, a coffee-growing region where drug gangs are active.

Honduras has the world's highest murder rate at 90.4 per 100,000 people, according to a report by the United Nations, well ahead of second-ranked Venezuela at 53.7.

Last April, Alvarado was crowned Miss Honduras World 2014, beating 18 other contestants to the top spot. She could not live without lip gloss or the website Wikipedia.org, according to her official biography on the Miss World competition page.

The daughter of a lower middle class family from Santa Barbara, Alvarado had worked as a model for local department stores.

Julia Morley, chairman of the Miss World Organisation, said the pageant was "devastated by this terrible loss of two young women who were so full of life."

The group said it would hold a service with the Miss World contestants on Sunday to honour the two women, and say prayers for them and their family.

Twelve children and a villager have been confirmed dead after a hippotamus attacked a boat near the Niger capital Niamey earlier this week, officials said Wednesday.

The students, aged 12 to 13, died when their boat transporting them across the Niger River was flipped by a hippo on Monday. A number of students in the West African nation take such boats to attend school on the other side of the river.

"Ultimately it was 12 students, including seven girls and five boys, who died after the attack," Aichatou Oumani, minister of secondary education, told state television.

A villager on the same boat was also killed, according to an official in Libore, the village near the site of the accident.

An earlier toll had spoken of two deaths, 11 missing and five survivors. At least 18 people were aboard the boat, mostly students.

"We have already given the order for the animal to be identified and killed," Hassoumi Djabirou, governor of the Tillaberi region, said on local television.

Game wardens shot dead a hippo last year after it killed a teenager in Niamey.

Hippos with young in tow are the most aggressive, even attacking cattle that come to graze on the banks of the Niger River, experts say.

GOBE! Female Police Officers Beaten, Stripped Naked In Benin

Three female police officers attached to Oregbeni police division in Benin, Edo state were Tuesday beaten black and blue, before being stripped naked.

The police officers were said to have gone to make an arrest at Oregbeni quarters, Ikpoba-Okha local government area in Benin metropolis after which they were humiliated and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

It was gathered that the police women were invited by a landlady in the area to arrest one of her tenants when a fracas ensued.

Trouble however started when the tenant insisted on taking her bath before going to the police station, a request said to have been declined by the police officers. The situation degenerated ‎into an argument, and in the ensuing fracas, other residents in the area joined the tenant to beat up the officers and thereafter stripped them naked.

The landlady who's name was given as Mrs. Okebuse, confirmed that she invited the police because she had given the tenants quit notice.

"When the police came to make arrest, they started fighting the police. I ran for my live and hid at the other compound," she said.

An eyewitness said "the landlady is in the habit of harassing and intimidating her tenants with police. The woman was taking her bath and Police refused to allow the woman take her bath but they refused."

Police Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, who confirmed the incident, expressed disappointment over the attack, adding that the police would not take it lightly.

Adebanjo said the attackers would be made to face the full wrath of the law and that suspects arrested have already been charged to court.

How Jonathan Made Nigeria Loose AFCON Ticket

Nigerian fans were left red faced last night as their darling Super Eagles failed to deliver the Afcon ticket at the new Akwa Ibom international stadium.
Not even the when opponents were reduced to ten men did the Stephen Keshi led side take advantage as the coaching crew confirmed the fear of critics that suggested that they lack tactical know-how considering the fact that the team was still playing a long ball for a "short" striker when they could easily pass to his feet.

The Amaju Pinnick led NFF executive committee relieved Coach Stephen keshi of his National team duty as their first official assignment only for President Goodluck Jonathan who kept calling the Super Eagle, Green eagles during the opening ceremony of the Akwa Ibom stadium recalled him.

This move showed that the intervention of government officials who lack adequate knowledge and passion for the beautiful game of football will continue to spell doom for Football and Sports in general in the country.

BlackBox Nigeria can confirm than the Super eagles of Nigeria fell a point shy of Dr Congo who picked up the best loser slot after their 3- victory Sierra Leone to advance its point tally to 9 points.

Like it happened after the country won the 1994 edition of the completion after which the country wasn't present to defend the trophy, Nigeria would once again be missing in action as the best teams on the continent converge in Equatorial Guinea early next year to battle for supremacy.

Not a few Nigerian observers have blamed President Jonathan for intervening and recalling embattled coach Stephen Keshi after he was relieved from the job weeks ago. The new NFF had made it clear that Keshi lacked the tactical ‎know out to advance the Eagles to the continental challenge which the President would have none of.

Lagos 2015: Why I Should Succeed Fashola - Hamzat

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965

The Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on Tuesday highlighted reasons why he should succeed Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State.

Speaking during the continuation of his meet-the-people tour of local governments in the state, Hamzat, known as 'Itesiwaju Eko', amongst party faithfuls took time to detail his plans and manifesto to party leaders at the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government.

"I am a true definition of continuity in Lagos, am the best candidate for this job, am the best man who should govern Lagos State after Governor Fashola," Hamzat said to party loyalists.

He noted further that as a commissioner for Science and Technology in 2005 through 2011, he was able to achieve a whole lot.

"I introduced most of the electronic measures we have in Lagos State today. From the e-payment of tax, to helping the state Internally Generated Revenue rise from 1bn to 20bn. My performance as Commissioner for science and technology brought about my appointment as the Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Housing," the gubernatorial aspirant said.

Hamzat stated that as Commissioner for works, he was instrumental to the completion of Nigeria's first cable-stayed bridge at Lekki-Ikoyi linking Admiralty Way to Bourdillon Road,  the completion of the Lekki Expressway with the upgrade, Expansion and maintenance of approximately 50km of the Lekki-Epe Expressway (Phase I), and construction of Yaya Abatan road inwards Ogba, Cemetry Road in Ajeromi Ifelodun and others across the State.

"I know we've got good aspirants in this party and I won't condemn any of them but trust me, I remain the best amongst all. I have been in the system, I've headed several of the committees in Lagos which shows how effective my work rate has been. I need to blow no horn to validate the fact that I'll truly make Lagos progressive, my antecedents as Commissioner for Science and Technology coupled with my present office as Works Commissioner is enough to speak for me," he emphasized.

Speaking at the Women Development Centre situated in Agege Pen Cinema, Lagos, Hamzat discarded rumours about him stepping down for any other candidate. Noting that he is more than determined to see through his ambition, while believing in the support of the electorates and the good people of Lagos State to make him emerge the party's candidate come December, 3rd 2014.

Hamzat also assured the party leaders that if he eventually emerge as the party's candidate and go on to win the 2015 Gubernatorial Election, he would ensure that party members are not neglected and their welfare will be properly taken care of.

"I'll ensure that we return to the days of Lateef Jakande where quarterly town hall meetings are held for us to understand the pain and agony of our party members at every time. I am a man of the people, not just a technocrat, I care about the masses, I care about our mothers," he stated.

For Lagos to remain progressive, Hamzat said the state needs a capable hand who knows how things are being done in government. Noting that it is not possible to give the job of a carpenter to a plumber, regardless of how smart.

"I am the Man who knows how Lagos can develop more technologically and in every other facets without hiccups. One interesting fact is that my manifesto is titled 'Building A State That Lasts," Hamzat reiterated.‎
