Breaking!!! Bomb Blast Rocks Kano, Scores Dead

A bomb has exploded in Kano on Friday evening as people were rushing home after the day's activities.
The explosion which occurred along Maiduguri road opposite NNPC filling station in Hotoro area of Kano killed unspecified number of people and injured several others.
Resident of the area said they heard a loud explosion which shook many buildings in the area.
A combined team of soldiers and policemen, as well as firefighters, were seen moving in a convoy to the cordon off the area.

Mrs Ajoke Risikat, one of the wives of juju legend, King Sunny Ade has formally launched her ambition to return to the Lagos State House of Assembly after she lost out of the ACN primaries in 2011.
BlackBox Nigeria learnt that Mrs. Adegeye who is currently the Commissioner incharge of the House of Assembly Commission is bidding to return following a certificate scandal which soiled her re-election bid in 2011. According to reports, her political opponents had rumoured that she didn't posses the required certificate which qualified her for the sit.
She has however come out with a copy of her WAEC certificate as certified by the examination body itself. The result which was obtained by BlackBox Nigeria showed that Mrs. Adegeye sat for the examinations in 2009 as a sitting member of the Assembly which shows that she was elected to the house without having the necessary qualifications.
A source close to Mrs. Adegeye but who would rather not be mentioned however refuted this claim saying Madam honourable has a previous O' Level result but only decided to sit for another one just to have all her papers at a sitting.
The source however failed to give adequate explanations as to why the politician is just coming out with the certificate and why she didn't present same or the previous results during her bid in 2011.
Mrs. Adegeye is set to slug it out at the primary election of the ruling All Progressive Congress with current rep Hon. Sultan Adeniji Adele who is the son of top Lagos politician and former Sport Commissioner, Chief Ademola Adeniji Adele.

How Patience Jonathan Deceived Bayelsa Women With Expired Rice

According to a new report on SaharaReporters, the hopes of thousands of women mobilized for the flag-off of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in Bayelsa state by Nigeria's first lady, Patience Jonathan, were dashed as they were sent home with nothing yesterday after policemen tear gassed a couple of them.
Some overzealous security operatives also used batons on the hapless women who were frustrated for being hoodwinked by Mrs. Jonathan to come for the "empowerment program" she had claimed was
from the MDG, only to be confronted with a political rally for the president's re-election.
One woman who could not hold her frustration and anger, Preye Dressman, said the whole thing was deceitful.
"We came from our communities since 5 a.m.; I have not eaten and stayed under sun and rain, and now they are sending us home with empty hands."
A motorist, Stella Honesty, wondered why the President's wife was coming to give Bayelsa women empowerment items to the people this late in her husband's tenure. She said:
"Is it because general elections are around the corner? In fact, if I were some people, I will reject any empowerment. Where was she all this while? Some of us have refused to be deceived by this political gimmick. Look at the kind of suffering one is going through because she is coming. Must she create tension each time she visits anywhere? I have been trapped in this traffic logjam for a long time for a journey that would not have been more than 30 minutes."
Commuters and motorists who were trapped in the gridlock created by the visit were seen struggling to make detours.
The MDGs, a United Nations benchmark which is aimed at eradicating extreme poverty and hunger for all citizens, became the basis for a political campaign ground for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), a political group affiliated with President Jonathan's re-election. Several bags of rice repackaged in bags branded with Mr. Jonathan's photos, sewing machines, hair dryers, and tricycles known also "Keke NAPEP" were distributed to some at the rally. However, several of the women left empty-handed.
A cursory investigation showed that most of the items, especially food items, had expired, and most them were later diverted to Peoples Democratic Party politicians for onward distribution exclusively to their followers.
Mrs. Jonathan, who was formerly a civil servant in the state, resigned a few weeks ago even though she had never shown up for a single day of work before and after Governor Seriake Dickson promoted her to the position of permanent secretary.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced Friday that Equatorial Guinea to replace Morocco as 2015 African Nations Cup.
Caf selected a replacement for Morocco after rejecting their request to delay the 17 January to 8 February finals.
Morocco were concerned over the spread of the outbreak of the Ebola virus.
CAF subsequently expelled Morocco from the relocated tournament, which will now be held in the country which co-hosted with Gabon in 2012.
Equatorial Guinea will now take on sole responsibility for holding the 16-team event, despite having only two major stadiums in the capital Malabo and Bata.
It is not clear whether the new hosts will be able to play in the tournament because the team was disqualified in July for fielding an ineligible player in a preliminary qualifier against Mauritania on 17 May.

Former international, Olusegun Fetuga, has identified a lack of humility as one of coach Stephen Keshi's problems in guiding the Super Eagles to another continental success.
Fetuga said Nigeria's 2013 AFCON success has placed Keshi at a level where he finds it difficult to accept errors.
"He was too quick to berate the value Ike Uche and Martins would have brought to the team. Even when it was glaring that the team needed more striking options, he refused to budge. He doesn't need to be stubborn when it comes to national matter; he needs to be humble. The players are all eligible to play just as others," Fetuga said on Thursday.
"I'm happy he has brought Uche back into the team, but I'd love to see him bring Martins back. The MLS is better than some leagues where some of our players are coming from. Besides, Martins is fit and scoring goals. How many of our players have helped their respective clubs the way Martins has done this season?"

Investigations revealed that the members took it upon themselves to purchase the APC presidential nomination form for Tambuwal, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the nation's main opposition party.
Attempts by the APC to pick a presidential candidate by consensus failed after talks between the stakeholders reportedly collapsed on Wednesday.
The contest was initially between a former Head of State, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd); a former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar; Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

New Real Sociedad manager David Moyes, has claimed that his style of coaching is more Jose Mourinho, than Pep Guardiola.
The Scot, was officially unveiled on Thursday and replaces Jagoba Arrasate. When asked whether Sociedad fans should expect a coaching style more like Mourinho or Guardiola, Moyes replied:
"Probably more like Mourinho. I'm tough with the players and I like to work hard. I want to enjoy the challenge of getting towards the top of La Liga. I joined a club similar to Real Sociedad in Everton around 12 years ago and I left them challeging near the top. I hope to do the same here."
Moyes claimed that apart from the fact that he has always wanted to coach in spain, he never thought twice when the chairman of the club contacted him.
"What convinced me [to join Real Sociedad] was the president [Jokin Aperribay]," Moyes said. "He was fantastically passionate about the club, about how special it was and what it meant to him.
"It was a big ambition of mine to manage abroad. I'm well rested, I have had six months off and I'm raring to go."
