Lynn is a Norwegian but find her way into Nigerian music industry because of her love for Afrobeat, she recently duet Nigerian born singer Lace on 'Let Go Party' which has been enjoying massive listening across the music channel.

The beautiful white afrobeat singer; is widely known as Lioness Oyinbo in the Nigeria music scene said that the Pop singer Oristefemi was the genesis of her stage name; according to her 'My name is Lynn and I got the Lioness from my hair, golden colour and curly like a lioness. I don't know exactly how but somehow, few of my friends call me lioness in London, but for the oyinbo part, that was Oritsefemi when we did a recording session, he was to do the introduction and he was messing around, calling me Lioness Oyinbo, and since then it just kind of stuck. Ever since then, my friends here in Nigeria call me 'Lioness Oyinbo.

Though, she started singing at the tender age with the church choir, but knew she will be a secular singer and not a religious singer, have recorded eight songs to her credit and also had collaboration with LACE and Oritsefemi, she squealed that her song with Oristefemi is going to be the biggest among all her when the song finally release to the general public.

I mean we all have imperfections as people but I don't think blindness is my imperfection. It's a challenge for sure and some days, I really wish I could see because it could be frustrating but I am sure that you wake up and you look at one thing in your life and say this is my imperfection. That's why I don't want people to look at my blindness and say it's an imperfection. If I have any imperfection, it might be something in my character or something else but it is nothing physical about me.

Speaking further on how she uses computer to blog and type; she said 'I use a normal computer but I just have software installed that speaks to me so I know what I'm writing. I do everything like you do I just hear instead of seeing on the screen.'

What you don't know about OAP, Yaw

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Reputable on- air personality, Steve Onu, aka Yaw, doesn't need any introduction especially to lovers of WAZOBIA FM (95.1). The Theatre Arts graduate of the Lagos State University has warmed his way into the hearts of many listeners both in Lagos and the neighbouring states due to his style of speaking pidgin english and personality.
Yaw is known for his popular programme,"Make una Wake, the morning show which is aired from 6am to 12 noon. Yaw, who has bagged many personalities awards and nominated for several others, is rising daily in his game as he has a hand full of activities. He got launched into limelight with the then popular series known as "Flat Mates.' His story is that of one who has experienced the lowest part of life and been picked up by sheer grace, determination and hard work.
Today, Yaw could say that he is blessed as he is dinning with the mighty and the rich in the society. In this edition, I present to you a young man who once sold 'ice water' on Lagos roads, but whose determination and hardwork has taken him to where he is today. Yaw is a producer. He comperes events, a comedian, as well as an on-air personality.
Read on…

Yaw's Origin…
"I am from Awka in Anambra state, but I was born in Lagos state on August 24, almost 40 years ago, at the Island Maternity Hospital. I had my early life in Lawanson in Surulere Local Government Area. I attended Osimoye Primary School also in Surulere. I left Osimoye and finished from Obele Primary School in Sululere. My Secondary School was at St. Ann Secondary School also in Surulere.
I am from a family of 10 children, but I lost one of my sisters to the cold hand of death. By the way, I am the seventh child. As a child, we stayed at 65 Mamba Street Lawanson. As a young boy, I remember helping my mother to sell "ice water" and cold minerals at Yaba market after school. I can remember an episode, one day due to tiredness I took a nap while selling at the market.
l woke up to realise that all my wares were gone. But l didn't have any money to show that I sold those items. That day, my mother gave me the beating of my life! When my family moved residence from Surulere to Iyana-Paja, I had to stop selling "ice water" after school because of the distance, but I still sold during the holidays. I stopped selling when l was of age and eventually graduated from secondary school in 1993".
Yaw got admission into the Lagos state University (LASU) for a diploma program in 1995, and then got another admission to study Theatre Arts in the same university. In-between struggling to pay his tuition fee, getting a role in the movies and staying with friends wasn't any mean feat. After graduation, he didn't stop acting and performing stage dramas as he has been doing several professional stage events at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.
He got involved in the series "Twilight Zone and Flatmates. He was also involved in some others like the Dear Mother and Fuji House of Commotion series. According to the celebrity On air personality, stardom wasn't an overnight thing, he has been there waiting for his time to shine.
While doing all these, he was called for a job interview for on-air personality position and later started working at the pidgin English radio station known as Wazobia FM. Since then he has bagged two awards including, City People Awards and Mode Man for Best on-air personality.
According to Yaw, his mother had always reminded him that without the people around you, you are nobody. If tomorrow comes and every person stops listening to Wazobia FM, then Yaw is nobody. That has brought about humility which is part of his nature and which has arguably made him to dine with kings and queens in the society. "I had no choice, but to imbibe humility from babyhood. As a person, it is part of my personality because I was raised that way."

Yearly widow's mite
Yaw grew up knowing what it meant to be hungry but could not get food to eat at the time he needed it because of lack. He grew up knowing that except he has sold enough, he might not eat. He knows what it is like to be the down and the trodden in the society and he is doing what he can to put smiles on faces of the disabled, less privilege and the aged in the society via his yearly charity project. Life around him has taught him to cling to his dream and that has been his daily push.
He has remained a determined young man with a strong survival instinct. Last year, he stood up and sold his car to partner with OLX to donate gift items to three different foundations, the School for the blind, Down syndrome foundation and the aged.

Awards
Yaw has received several awards and still counting. He won the Best on-Air Personality for Mode Men Awards and City People Awards among others. He has also won award organized by Opa Williams for Best TV Actor (Comic).

Inspirations
Yaw is inspired by the likes of Basket Mouth, Ali Baba and so many others. People call him a funny person, "but that's because everything around us is funny. Life would be so dull if nothing is funny". From where he is coming from to where he is today is indeed an amazing journey and "who could have thought that an "ice water" seller on Lagos traffic could get here today!"

Without mincing words, Helen Paul, who was sharing a story about her humble beginning hit at Stella for often changing her surname.

' Stella Damasus, or Nzeribe, is she not even tired of changing surname? Today she's Aboderin, tomorrow Ademinokun, only God knows the surname she would answer tomorrow. Well, the good thing is, her she hasn't changed her name 'Stella', so we can simply call her Stella easily," Helen said with all seriousness.

A sagging bosom is something every young girl dreads. And even though it's an inevitable part of life, we don't want our b••bs sagging now especially since we young and haven't given birth yet. Most ladies do all it takes to try and prevent it but still indulge in some habits that actually cause their boobs to sag without even knowing it. We are going to shed light on some of these habits to save us from early drooping;‎

1. Wearing the wrong bra size: Wearing a bra that doesn't provide enough support may cause your boobs to sag. Go for a bra fitting and get your right bra size.

2. You don't drink enough water: Water does a lot of wonders in our body. When it is taken in very little amounts, it can cause the skin to shrink and appear dry and rough. This also applies to your bosoms. Drink lots of water if you want to keep them up.

3. You don't protect your bosoms from the sun: Ultraviolet rays from the sun can cause premature ageing and also sagging. Try your best to apply sunscreen always on parts of your skin and bosom that will be exposed to the rays of the sun.

4. Smoking: Smoking is bad for the health and for the bosoms. It breaks down then elastic in skin that is responsible for youthful appearance.

5. Weight fluctuations: Fluctuations in your weight can cause your skin to lose elasticity. Therefore, leading to drooping boobs er time.

So Ladies Hope you do not indulge in these b••bby damaging habits?

Rapper turn pop act, Skales who is preparing to drop his debut album titled 'Man of the Year' next month took to social media asking his fans to suggest collaborations they would want to see on the album. However, subsequent tweetshave shown there is no love lost between him and former label mate, Starboi Wizkidm.

A twitter user had suggestted a collaboration between the two former besties but Skales revealed he had tried on several occasions to get one but Wiz had not been forthcoming, saying:"Wizkid doesn't have my time."‎

It looks like that collaboration would never happen now because that tweet apparently infuriated Wizkid who replied not too nicely.
Before Wiz however responded, Skales had in another tweet from claimed he wrote the 'Superstar' song and he stole his 'Azonto' beat,

This got Wizkid on a tweet spree as he went on to call Skales a "dead guy", and tweeting on his inability to drop an album and a hit song –

'Skales u a fuck boy for coming at me sha! Lol U can compose tweets but can't compose one hit song' as well as 'wear fake chains nd beg hoes for money!' Wizkid posted.

Skales responds: 'Shake body is banging everywhere nigga , am gonn be here for a very long time !!! What goes up must definitely come down !'

LASU Graduate Wins Best SURE-P Internship Award, Gets Instant Employment

Taibat Olabisi Apanishile at United Bank for Africa office

A graduate of Political Science from Lagos State University(LASU), Apanishile Olabisi Taibat, was today rewarded for her outstanding performance during her period of internship with United Bank for Africa under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE – P) Graduate Internship Scheme(GIS).

The award presentation was done by Coordinating Minister/Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, at the Scordcard Presentation of SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme, held at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the SURE-P chairman, Gen Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), said the SURE-P idea had two components of infrastructure and social safety net. He said the Graduate Internship scheme was designed primarily to create a stop gap for the Nigerian graduates and increase their employability potentials. He stated that the scheme trained 900 interns in 2014 alone.

Apanishile got nominated for the award following her internship with UBA. According to her, in November 2013, she got an email that the SURE – P Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) has found her an employer, which turned out to be UBA.

“I was given an option of either accepting or rejecting the offer. After I made research about UBA, I accepted the offer and was subsequently invited for an interview and test by UBA. Sequel to the successful result from the test, I was posted to a Business Office as a Customer Service Assistant, this gave me the opportunity to exhibit my skills in attending to customers’ complaints and requests,” she told BlackBox Nigeria.

Commenting on her experience as an intern, she noted that the programme has exposed her to real life experience of what the corporate environment requires.

“Also, it has enhanced my personal skill because I met and interacted with people of different social, religious and economic background. More importantly, I was given the opportunity to get on the job training that would further help me get a job or give me an edge over other job seekers after the internship.”

Apanishile under "Abe-Igi" in LASU during her University days

She averred that the feedback she got from customers and colleagues from the service rendered made me realize her inner skills, which has helped in redirecting my career path.

Late last year, the Group Managing Director of UBA, Mr. Phillips Oduoza, awarded her for Outstanding Customer Service. Due to her contribution, the bank also gave her immediate employment after the expiration of her internship with the bank.

The Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS), launched in October, 2012, was established as part of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE – P) to create opportunity for graduates to be attached to firms /organizations, where they can work for a year and enjoy a monthly stipend of N30,000 with a Group Life and Accident Insurance. Such interns can use the opportunity to gain working experience and enhance their employability skills.

Apanishile is an indigene of Ikorodu, Lagos State and graduated from Political Science Department, LASU in 2011 with Second Class upper.

Students of the Accounting Department, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, engaged a brawl at their parliamentary sitting held to assess the state of the association and discuss proceeds of their annual summit.
It was gathered that crisis began to rock the Accounting Students Representative Council, OAU chapter, since the organisation of a conference.
The programme, our correspondent gathered, generated an unspecified huge sums of money to the students association.

The crisis reached its peak when some the parliamentarians felt dissatisfied with the manner of presentation of their President, Vincent Adebola, who was summoned to appear before the council.
While some of the parliamentarians complained of his dressing, others accused him of being unconstitutional in his address.

This, according to eyewitnesses, got the President annoyed, forcing him to walk out on the parliamentarians.
"We held a submit and many companies sponsored the programmes. The issue is all about the financial status of the association," one of the students said.

When contacted, the president said, "The issue is that we were there to present the financial report of our summit but in the process of giving that report, there were lots of interception from the members of the ASRC. It was just a minor issue and we were able to resolve it and everything has been settled. There was nothing like fighting."

In a meeting held on Friday, the association's Director of Studies and and General Secretary, Tunde Animashaun and Oladotun Oladiti respectively, were suspended.
Their suspension, however, led to a rowdy session in the house as other students faulted the actions of the parliamentarians.‎
In the fracas, a campus journalist, identified as Afeez Lasisi, was attacked.

Power Decline: Nigeria Loses 1,500MW Of Electricity

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
DESPITE claims by President Goodluck Jonathan that he had delivered on his promise to supply electric power to Nigerians, the total energy sent out to electricity consumers across the country as of February 17, 2015 stood at 3,424.11 megawatts though the average national demand is 12,800m.

This, however, was in sharp contrast to the recent claim by the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo that power generation was hovering around 5,000MW.

By implication, the country is losing over 1,500MW of electricity, and according to the minister, this loss is largely due to vandalism of pipelines that transport gas to the power generation plants.

Nebo had told President Goodluck Jonathan and guests at the inauguration of the new turbine unit at the Egbin Power Station in Lagos on Saturday that the power sector had recorded a huge success.

The minister had said, "Power generation in the country today has improved tremendously with actual generation/transmission capacity consistently hovering around 5,000MW, up from 2,800MW in 2011.

"Currently, the major challenge to increased power generation is limitation in gas supply as a result of the activities of vandals who are bent on visiting hardship on the entire nation."

However, official figures from the Federal Ministry of Power on Sunday showed that the peak generation on February 17 was 3,768.2MW, as against a peak demand of 12,800MW.

Energy generation was put at 3,494.96MW, while the energy sent out was 3,424.11MW.

The highest peak generated power was 4,517.6MW. This figure, however, is 482.4MW less than the 5,000MW claim by the minister.

Nebo had stated that the sector would soon record significant inflow of generated electricity, adding that with the new unit, the owners of the Egbin Power Plant had accomplished the feat of bringing the facility back to its original installed capacity of 1,320MW.

He said, "Similar successes are being recorded by other Independent Power Plants such as the Ughelli Power Plant, where the capacity now stands at 610MW, up from 160MW at handover, with a target of 850MW at end-2015.

"The hydro power stations are also hard at work to revamp capacity at Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro."

A statement by the ministry also stated that the Kainji Power Plant would in the next two weeks be able to produce 230MW, up from 80MW.

The ministry said the "World Bank is retrofitting three more units to add 340MW by the end of March," adding that the sixth units in the Jebba Power Plant were undergoing procurement to add 96MW to the plant's original capacity of 450MW.

For the Shiroro Power Plant, it said "three units at 450MW are on stream; the fourth unit to be added soon to bring capacity to 600MW."

An Indian national, Mr. Srivastava Kumar, has died in a hospital after he was attacked by suspected robbers in the Lekki Ajah area of Lagos.

It was learnt that 45-year-old Kumar was attacked while working on an agricultural farm in Eleko, Ajah, on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Our correspondent learnt that Kumar was stabbed in the hand and the chest during the robbery, which occurred on Wednesday, February 11.

It was gathered that the Indian, who was also the plant manager of a foods processing company, was rushed to the St. Nicholas Hospital on the Lagos Island after the robbers' attack.

Kumar, however, reportedly died at the hospital on the morning of February 14. Our correspondent learnt that the matter was reported to the Akodo Police Division.

When our correspondent got to the private hospital, a worker, who begged to remain anonymous, said although the Indian underwent a surgery, he did not survive as a result of his injuries.

He said, "The Indian was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday. We found out that he was stabbed in the hand and in the chest. His relatives were told that a surgery would be needed on his stomach.‎
"The doctors did the surgery on him, but he did not survive. He had lost so much blood during the attack. He died on the morning of that Sunday. His relatives had taken him away from the hospital.
"I know they have also reported the matter to the police and the attackers will be fished out."

When this reporter visited the Eleko area, a resident, who identified himself as Suleiman Bosun, said armed robbers made use of bushes and lonely junctions in the area as hideouts to perpetrate their acts, urging the police to increase their surveillance.
He said, "We have several Asian companies in the Eleko area. In the evening times, when most junctions are lonely, motorists and passengers fall victims of robbery attacks.
"Yes, we heard that an Indian was attacked by armed robbers and he died in the hospital. When will this barbarism stop in our area?"

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident. He added that the matter had been transferred to the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation.
He said, "The security man that was with the deceased, who ran away on the day the Indian died, is the prime suspect.
"The police arrested one of the security men who were on duty in the company on the day of the incident. He was arrested in Argungu, Kebbi State.
"His name cannot be disclosed as we are trying to apprehend others. Investigation continues at SARS and efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects."

Here is how the contentious INEC card reader works...

At a polling centre there shall be a presiding officer and between two and three assistant presiding officers appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) depending on the number of registered voters at the centre.
The presiding officer shall delegate responsibilities to the assistant presiding officers and shall be the final authority at the voting unit.
With the introduction of the Card Reader machine, once a voter approaches the polling centre, one of the officials will search the voters register to locate the person's name and picture.

Once that is done, the other officer will collect the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) of the person and slide it on the Card Reader so as to read the bio-data of the bearer.

The Card Reader has a number of roles; it certifies the authenticity or otherwise of a PVC. It also tallies the number of the PVCs it has recorded and forwards same to a central server thereby eliminating the incident of ballot stuffing that was prevalent with the use of ordinary Voter Cards.
If the PVC is genuine, the card reader will accept it and then the owner will place his thumb on the machine to also ascertain that it truly belongs to the person who brought it, thereby eliminating the incident of vote buying, multiple voting or voting by proxy.
This step eliminates the use of PVCs stolen or purchased by some politicians as it renders them useless, the only advantage for those buying the cards being that it may suppress the votes of those who ordinarily the real owners of the PVCs would have voted for.
When it is certified that the card is genuine and truly belongs to the person who brought it, it will pop up and announce to the hearing of party agents at the polling centre.
The job of the card reader is in effect, to accredit voters, what it means is that during the actual voting, only those that were duly accredited will have the opportunity of voting. The issue of manipulating the process is drastically reduced because at a polling centre, there will be apart from the INEC staff, the agents of the contesting political parties, the observers both local and international as well as the media.

A female suicide bomber on Sunday attacked the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) market in Potiskum, Yobe State, leaving five people dead and 46 others injured.

A mobile phone seller at the market, Adamu Yahaya, told one of our correspondents on the telephone that a female suicide bomber hit the entrance to the GSM market, located in the heart of Potiskum town, around 1.15 pm.

He said the attack resulted in her death and four other persons with many left severed injured.

He said, "We saw the girl and we became suspicious of her movement and when one of us tried to whisk her away, the bomb went off killing both of them and three others while several others sustained injuries. Those injured have been taken to the General Hospital, Potiskum."

A medical worker told one of our correspondents on the telephone that five corpses from the attack were deposited at the morgue of the hospital and 46 persons that were injured were brought in for treatment.

When the worker, who is a medical doctor, spoke to one of our correspondents at about 3pm on Sunday, he said, "Some of those injured have minor injuries but some may need to be referred to a bigger hospital outside the state as their injuries were serious."

The source did not rule out a rise in the death figure, insisting that some of the injured persons were hanging to life.

"I pray that they will be able to make it as their situation is very serious," he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, who confirmed the incident on the telephone to journalists, said he had yet to be furnished with details of the blast.

He, however, promised to make the number of casualties known to the press immediately it was made available to him.

Gbadegesin said, "Yes, I can confirm to you that there is a blast at the Kasuwan Jagwal market (GSM market) in Potiskum where it happened last month but how it happened and the casualty figure are not known."

Suicide bombing has become rampant in Potiskum, the commercial town of Yobe State.

In a related development, the Emir of Mubi, Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, has called on citizens of the town, who were displaced by the activities of insurgents, to return home.

This, according to the Emir, was as a result of the restoration of security in his domain by military operatives. Ahmadu disclosed this in his palace while playing host to a Federal Government delegation, led by the Minister of Youths Development, Mr. Boni Haruna.

Meanwhile, the troops involved in the raging campaign against the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East may have got the directive to get the leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau, alive.

An intelligence source said that military leadership was keen on getting Shekau alive to solve the riddle of invisibility around his existence.

It was stated that the directive followed the increasing victories against the members of the deadly sect by the combined operations between the Air Force and he Army and the troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force.

It was stated that the new Shekau was within Nigeria and was trying desperately to escape being arrested.

Investigations revealed that the military high command was keen on getting the Boko Haram leader arrested to make him to face trial for acts committed against Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, has said in a statement on Sunday that troops involved in a cordon and search operation had discovered heaps of arms and ammunition abandoned by the insurgents.

Our six million members would vote President Jonathan -OPC Leader, Gani Adams Discloses

NATIONAL Co-ordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, yesterday, said that six million members of the group have resolved to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan at the March 28 presidential polls.

He said OPC members took the decision at their National Co-ordinating Council meeting after taking time to assess President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Major Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made the disclosure at his Lagos residence while hosting Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku, who came to solicit his and OPC's support for Jonathan's re-election.
Adams said OPC is rooting for Jonathan because of his human rights records in not arresting or detaining any activist since he came to power, convocation of national conference and promise to implement the 633 recommendations that will help to restructure the country, which he said is in the interest of the Yoruba and South-west.

He said: ''OPC is a group of six million people. We sat down at our National Co-ordinating Council to decide on who to vote for between President Jonathan and Buhari and the support for Jonathan is unanimous."
"Now, we have come out to support Jonathan because of the National Conference. We have been clamouring for National Conference since 1992, even our leaders could not organise it. President Olusegun Obasanjo organised the National Political Reforms Conference with a lot of no-go areas. In the end there was a stalemate. "Now a minority, Jonathan, did it. The only no-go area is the unity of the country. He gave us open cheque to decide the future of Nigeria."
