Apparently one of the most interesting news of the day is definitely Toolz's engagement to Captain Tunde Demuren who she has been dating since circa 2012.
Tunde Demuren who has business interests in aviation and in the music industry gave his bride to be his engagement ring, a modified diamond ring with an elegant band.
The ring was first identified as a Tiffany Soleste creation.
A Tiffany Soleste engagement ring is said to be worth $14, 400 (N2,846,490).
Well Toolz's engagement ring is not a Tiffany Soleste.
According to Tunde Demuren, Toolz's ring was made Rebecca Noff Fine Jewelry by Luxury Bespoke Fine Jewelry.
"Thank you @rebeccanoff – one word — Amazing She loves it. Cc @toolzo" wrote the pilot in the caption of his photo of Toolz's ring.
So Toolz's ring is not worth N2,846,490 but hey it still surely looks expensive.

When they say Karma is a b¡tch, a 49-year-old Los Angeles, USA, father of 10, Titus McDonalds, must have come into the picture.
McDonalds who said he was having marital problems and decided to experiment with some prostitutes for a threesome, was shocked to his bone marrow when the two call girls he ordered turned out to be two of his daughters who had left home some years earlier.
When the girls came into the room, McDonalds reportedly had a panic attack and collapsed on the floor while the ladies fled the room after they realised that the man who had invited them was their own daddy.
McDonalds who swore he had never been with a prostitute in his life, went to Las Vegas to blow off the steam of his troubled marriage and what he saw there made him appreciate his family the more.
"I have never gotten a prostitute in my life, I swear to Christ. What are the odds it was my own flesh and blood that showed up? I think this is Lord's way of bitch-slapping me."
When he came to, he sought out his daughters who are 20 and 23 respectively in a casino bar and had a long talk with them.
"I told them I was sorry for what I did. I apologized for my actions and said I just want my family whole again. My daughters and I have patched up our relationship.
My marital problems are not over, but we have a wonderful counselor who is helping us to get over this most difficult period."

Celebrating Children On Children's Day by Ogun Ebenezer

By Ogun Ebenezer Semasa

Children's Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954 to protect an "appropriate" day. It is said that the greatest need of a person in life is the feeling of 'being wanted' and 'being noticed'. The thirst for wantedness is an unquenchable thirst, found in every human being. It is particularly true in the case of children. They long to be wanted, shown affection and appreciated.
Children are innocent, children are mischievous, but children bring a smile to one's face. One of the most treasured possessions on earth; children are loved by one and all. Thus, Children's Day is celebrated to commemorate the healthy growth and happiness of children. Children are adorable. They are like divine gifts that parents get from the Almighty. Their eyes are full of innocence. They smile when they receive love and admiration, they cry when it is their first day at school away from their parents, they giggle when they mingle with their buddies, and they signify nothing but the pure and faithful love. They truly symbolize God.
Children make you want to start life over. Children are the keys of paradise. The best thing to spend on your children is your time. Give a little love to a child and you will get a great deal back. Children have more need of models, than of critics. We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today. They may not always smell pure and sweet, A dirty diaper or a dampened sheet. But with a loving cuddle and a beautiful smile, The joys of parenthood are all worth while.
The values and disciplines learned as a child are responsible for the kind of adulthood one has. Thus childhood is special and should be celebrated. Children's Day is to remind all young and adults about children's right to enjoy their childhood without any boundaries and to be educated adult in the future. Children's Day is to revise the right methods of raising children.
The celebration of Children's day teaches us several important values. It is a call to protect our little ones from all harm and to save them from the negative impact of modernization, urbanization, industrialization, commercialization and gross materialism. Today children are thrown open to evils of drug, s3x, alcohol, hard labour, abuse and violence. Thousands of little children in our country are made to slog for long hours, for little pay. Hundreds are yet to see the light of modern education. Therefore, it is a call to put an end to various forms of child abuse that are taking place in our land. Such a day reminds us of the inestimable worth of those little angels. They are the valuable asset of our nation, the future of our land, and the hope of tomorrow. The day also invites us to acquire the fine qualities that characterize children such as, simplicity, purity of heart and mind, innocence a sense of affection and attachment, etc.
Children constitute the greatest asset of a nation. A nation prospers or progresses to the extent it is able to develop the hidden potential lying untapped in her children. In a country like Nigeria, where children constitute a good percentage of the population, we need to give much more attention to their all-round development. A day like Children's Day is a right step in this direction as the day invites all of us to give children their due-love, affection and opportunities for development.
Children are the future of our country. They are the future of our nation. So, every individual should realize the importance of the Children's Day.

Gobe! Suit Filed Against Buhari's Swearing-In, Group Insists He Is Not Qualified

No comments :

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative,   has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.‎
The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order to nullify the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.
Between January and February 2015 there were about 10 cases instituted by various plaintiffs challenging Buhari's eligibility to stand for the poll on the grounds of his academic qualification controversy. But after he won, the cases were withdrawn.
In the fresh suit filed by its lawyer, Mr. Philip Ekpo, the group alleged that Buhari did not meet the qualification enshrined in the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act to stand for the March 28, 2015 presidential election.
Buhari, INEC, the CJN are the 1st to the 3rd respondents in the suit respectively.
The plaintiff is seeking an order of interim injunction restraining the CJN "or any person acting in his capacity" from swearing in Buhari as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any other date thereof pending the determination of the motion on notice.
The plaintiff seeks among other orders, "A declaration that the 3rd defendant be stopped from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the issue of perjury involving the 1st defendant has not been resolved.
"An order restraining the 3rd defendant or any person appointed for such purpose from swearing in the 1st defendant as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29, 2015 or any future dates whatsoever for giving false information to the 2nd respondent on oath.
"An order annulling the Certificate of Return given to the 1st defendant by the 2nd defendant."
The grounds canvassed by the plaintiff read, "The 1st respondent (Buhari) gave false information in the affidavit he presented to the 2nd respondent (INEC) and on the strength of which he contested and purportedly won the presidential election which was conducted by the 2nd respondent on March 28, 2015.
"The 1st respondent deposed to an affidavit dated November 24, 2014 that his West African School Leaving Certificate is in the custody of the Secretary to the Military Board.
"The Nigerian Army on January 20, 2015, said that in the personal file of the 1st respondent with the Nigerian Army, they do not have the original copy of his West African School Leaving Certificate nor does the Nigerian Army have the Certified True Copy of his WASC results neither do they have a photocopy of the said result.
"The 1st respondent has not met the qualifications enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act, Cap E6, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010 (as amended) to have contested the position of President of Nigeria at the 2015 general elections.
"That the authority conferred by Section 140 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) on the 3rd respondent to administer oath of office to any person who will occupy the office of the President of Nigeria cannot be exercised in respect of the 1st respondent who has not fulfilled the requirements of the same constitution and the Electoral Act as it relates to his eligibility to occupy the office of President of Nigeria."
The case has not been assigned to any judge.

Governor Amaechi Says Rivers Governor-Elect, Wike Is A Killer...

Outgoing Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused Governor-elect, Nyesom Wike, of murder.
He alleged that in his ambition to be governor, Wike hired a certain 'Atake' to kill a man, mutilate him and hang him from a tree.
Amaechi also dared Wike to go ahead and probe him, stating that they worked together for many years and he also has many incriminating records on him.
He made the remarks on Tuesday, May 26, during his 50th birthday anniversary public lecture in Port Harcourt.
The governor said;
"I refused to probe Dr. Odili's tenure because when they ask of my report, it won't be who you probed but what you did. If Wike accuses me of corruption, he was my Chief of Staff for my many years."
"A thief cannot call me corrupt. He was my Chief of Staff, if I have no records I have records on him. All the noise Wike is making is to have negotiation with us so they can stay in office illegally but we must go to court."‎
"I am a Christian, I have never killed anybody and I will never kill anybody. Instead of killing anybody I will give up my ambition. In a bid for Wike to be governor, he hired Atake, they killed a young man and cut his private part. They slit a young mans throat and hung him on a tree."
"God will no longer allow people who kill people be governor of Rivers state. He will allow only those who worship him. I am not perfect. If I said I was, I'd be lying. My priest continues to pray for me, he has told me God says we will defeat Nyesom Wike. God will not allow a killer to become Governor but we must learn to be patient. You must share part of my spirit of resistance."
"They haven't been sworn in and they are already writing letters to banks. Where did they get letter head from? The miracle of God will happen again in Port harcourt. I have done my eight years and let's see what happens to theirs.

IG Says Nigerians Are The Ones Corrupting The Police

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
The inspector general of police, IGP Solomon Arase, yesterday heaped the blame for corruption in the Police Force on Nigerians and sent out an appeal that Nigerians should stop corrupting his officers and men.‎
Arase made the appeal while fielding questions from journalists during his meeting with deputy inspectors general of police, assistant inspectors general of police and command commissioners of police, where he called on the public not to corrupt police personnel by giving them bribes.
"I am appealing to the members of the public; do not corrupt my policemen. It takes two to tango. If they ask you for bribe and you refuse to give, and you have avenues where your grievances can be ventilated, I do not see any reason why you should give them bribe.
"The Commissioner of Police is there; the Area Commander is there; the DPO is there; our office is there and the technical platform (to report corrupt police personnel) is there. We have opened ourselves to public accountability. So, you cannot now say the whole problem should be put on the police force'', he said.
In his address during the meeting, the police boss announced the arrest of two of the suspected kidnap kingpins responsible for the spate of kidnappings in Ekiti State yesterday morning.
While noting that cultists operating in Edo had been "technically amputated" with the arrest and transfer to Abuja of 11 suspects believed to be their leaders, Arase, however, described Kogi, Rivers and Benue as problematic states in terms of crime and promised to massively deploy personnel to those states within 48 hours to tackle the problem.
"We are sending the message loud and clear that we, police will not allow any miscreant to turn any state in the federation into a lawless state. Wherever we find them, we will pursue them; we will arrest and prosecute them,'' Arase said.
The police boss advised commissioners of police to report threats to security in their respective states to the Force Headquarters for possible intervention. He threatened to sanction any commissioner of police who allows security situation to get out of hand and causes embarrassment to the nation before reporting it for intervention.
Arase said the meeting was called to assess the success of special operations embarked upon by the police in Edo and Ekiti states in the last two weeks, saying he would map out strategies to ensure hitch-free inauguration of elected leaders at both the federal level and the states on Friday.

Drama! Governor Oshiomhole Suspends LG Chairman Immediately After Swearing Him In

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has sworn in Mr. Alhassan Mohammed as Chairman, Etsako West Local Government Area and immediately suspended him for two months.
The new Chairman was sworn-in, following the death, last Friday, of the former Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Hassan Kadiri.
The Governor directed the new Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Mr. Busari Yusuf, to act as the interim Chairman pending the findings of a panel of enquiry to investigate the allegations against the new Chairman.
Speaking Tuesday at the swearing-in ceremony, the Governor said: "I have just performed the task of swearing in the Vice Chairman of Etsako West Local Government as the substantive Chairman of the Local Government following the death of the Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Kadiri who passed away last week Friday.
"This afternoon I have performed a task with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I had the privilege of having to swear in a Chairman and on the other hand I am pained by the loss of someone who worked so hard for this party and who believed so much in his community but what made me even more sad is the fact that there were controversies as to what happened the very day that Hassan passed away.
"Some disgruntled elements whether they were masquerading as student union government officials or they were just touts and thugs, were hired by some persons to organize a protest that was almost turning violent such that they had to bring in the police and even the army to intervene to restore peace in the local government."
Oshiomhole continued, "I am informed that the purpose of this protest was that Hassan on his sick bed should be relieved of his duties as Chairman so that the Vice Chairman could take over his job. I do not think human beings should play God. Today, I am hale and hearty and I thank God for being here  to be able to sign what I have to sign, this is not by my strength, it is only by the grace of God. What will become of me in the next one hour I cannot say, I can only pray that I remain strong and healthy and I guess my story is the story of every human being.
"So for me, it is absolutely unacceptable that anyone will be so desperate as to instigate another to protest against a man that is bedridden and admitted in the hospital fighting for his life. Our jobs are worthless without life and all of us we have our dates to depart this planet earth. So, for anyone to organize protest against someone who is bedridden that he should be forced out of office so that another person will get promotion is unethical, and absolutely unacceptable and to publicly organize protest against the sick making unprintable statements, disturbing the public peace and mobilizing people to do things that are capable of leading to riots with the possibility of even death, that, for me, is the height of irresponsibility and I do not think any civilized government will condone that."
The Governor said, "Therefore in exercise of the powers vested in me as the Governor of Edo State under the Local Government Amended Acts, where there are weighty allegations against Local Government Officers, I have powers to carry out a thorough investigation on those allegations because we know for a fact that to allege does not necessarily mean to prove. Allegations must be proven before any further actions.
"I do not have all the facts as to whom and who are responsible for these protests but I know there was a protest that could have easily destabilized the entire local government with serious implications for community relations. However who is behind it, though we know the characters that were on the street, at least some of them, we do not know the characters behind those who were on the street. As our people say, for every bat that is dancing on the road, there is someone beating the drum in the bush nearby. It is those drummers that we now must go for.
"The name of the former Vice Chairman who is now the Chairman has been mentioned by several persons as being responsible for financing and instigating students who are supposed to be on vacation and who are on vacation to come back like a general purpose vehicle to carry out those protests in order to force the resignation or the removal of the Chairman that was bedridden.
"As a matter of conscience, therefore, I have decided that these allegations have to be investigated and under the Local Government Amendment Acts, while these investigations are going on, the Chairman has to be suspended. I have served him his suspension letter, he stands suspended with immediate effect and I will be announcing a Commission of Enquiry that we investigate all the issues that led to that protest. Until then, depending on the findings of the Committee, the Vice Chairman that has just been sworn in will act as the Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area in accordance with the Local Government Amended Act".
Appealing to the people to maintain calm and ensure peace in the local government, Oshiomhole said, "I want to appeal to our people, let no one do anything to undermine the peace and stability of Etsako West Local Government. If anybody does anything that leads to any crisis, be assured that I have the political will to get the police not only to arrest but to thoroughly investigate and the person will be diligently prosecuted and if convicted he will go to prison in accordance with the laws of Edo State.
"This government will not submit to political sentiments. We must respect people even on their sick bed and anyone who seeks to profit from the misfortune of others does not have my backing. So I want to appeal to all concerned to maintain the peace, we have an open mind, we will select men and women of integrity as members of the Administrative Panel and their report, when forwarded to me, will be submitted to the State House of Assembly which has the responsibility to go through it together with my recommendations and they will decide the way to have this matter finally settled.
"This will last for a period of about two months in accordance with the provisions of the law. In our culture and religion, when you have lost someone known to us, we don't celebrate, we don't presume, it is a moment for sober reflection, it is a moment to remind us that all of us all candidates but we do not know when our moment will come and he who laughs today might be the one to cry tomorrow, so let nobody jubilate nor should we also go rioting because someone has passed on.
"I have acted in good faith and I believe that our people in Etsako West should not doubt my sincerity of purpose. I have a duty to maintain peace in every part of the state and this action is meant to show that this government will not reward those who wish ill for others. We should be our brother's keepers", Oshiomhole stressed.

President Jonathan Set For His Last Federal Executive Council Meeting

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
President Goodluck Jonathan will on today preside over the Federal Executive Council meeting for the last time as the country's President.
The council consisting of the President (as chairman), Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ministers, special advisers to the President, Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the National Security Adviser is the highest decision-making body in the country.
Members meet every Wednesday (except occasionally when meetings are postponed) to approve contracts and government policies.
Since Jonathan will be handing over to Muhammadu Buhari as the country's new President on Friday, this is the last time he would be chairing the meeting.
He is expected to use the opportunity of the valedictory session to thank council members for their supports while his administration lasted.
Although there were speculations on Tuesday evening that Jonathan might thereafter dissolve his cabinet, our correspondent learnt that he might not do so.
A top government official said the President might delay such proclamation till Thursday or be silent about it and allow the tenure of the ministers to expire naturally with him.
The official said dissolution of cabinet on Wednesday might stop outgoing officials who are members of the presidential inauguration committee from continuing to render their services as they could not be doing so in their personal capacities.
The SGF, Senator Pius Anyim, co-chairs the inauguration committee with a former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipreye Sylvia, of the All Progressives Congress.
Ministers such as Senator Bala Muhammed (Federal Capital Territory); Dr. Akon Eyakenyi (Land, Housing and Urban Development); Mr. Abba Moro (Interior); Mr. Osita Chidoka (Aviation); Chief Edem Duke (Culture and Tourism); and Col. Austin Akobundu (retd.) (State, Defence) are also members of the inauguration committee.
Coming barely 48 hours to the end of Jonathan's administration, however, members of the council may not take any important decision at the Wednesday meeting.
Members might be given opportunities to speak on their experiences and thank the President for the opportunity given them to serve.

Reps Speaker Tambuwal Bids Farewell To House, Set To Take Over As Sokoto Governor

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, bowed out on Tuesday after handing over the leadership of the legislature to his deputy, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, who will round off the tenure of the House on June 5.
Tambuwal, who is the Governor-elect for Sokoto State, will be inaugurated on May 29 as governor.
His decision to transfer power to Ihedioha ahead of the May 29 handover date was to avoid a possible constitutional crisis of taking oath of office for two separate offices.
While he will be inaugurated as governor on May 29, his current tenure as a member of the House will end on June 6.
Tambuwal, who spoke with journalists soon after Tuesday's sitting of the House, disclosed that the members agreed at an executive session that Ihedioha should preside over the affairs of the House till June 6.
"My stay here in the House would have effectively come to an end on May 29 after I would have been inaugurated as governor.
"We have to avoid any possible issues on this, since the constitution is silent on what happens when a sitting Speaker has to move to another office," he added.
According to him, the 1999 Constitution does not envisage a situation where the Speaker will leave one office for another, while the oath taken for the current one is subsisting.
However, he noted that under the Standing Orders of the House, a Speaker Pro-tempore was required to be elected by members to run the House for any period the substantive Speaker would not be available.
But, he explained that the extant case was different because he would not return to the House anymore.
"At our executive session, a member came up with an ingenious way of dealing with the matter on hand, which members accepted.
"He came up with the idea that the portion of the House rules in question should be suspended to enable the deputy speaker to continue to preside over the House instead of electing a new Speaker," Tambuwal added.
Tambuwal stated that the other alternative would have been to shut down the House before June 6, but said he was not in support of such a move.
"I won't shut down the House. The House can sit tomorrow ( today), Thursday and possibly the other sitting days of next week," he said.

Special Report: How Rivers APC Swept LG Polls As Opposition Backs Down

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
By Uchechukwu Ugboaja

Following the boycott of the Rivers State Local Government elections by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it became obvious that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will sweep the polls considering its current dominance in the state.
The election which held in 22 LGA's was open to contestants in the various chairmanship and councillorship positions took place under very tight security in all the LGA's except Ogba/Egbeme whose chairman still has about 18 months in his tenure.
The Rivers State Electoral Commission (RSIEC) which is saddled with the responsibility to conduct elections in the state may not have been surprised at the reaction of some opposition political parties to boycott the polls owing to alleged predetermination of the outcome. Although the APC led government in the state had already distanced itself from any attempt to influence the outcome of the elections, but could only attribute such claims by opposition parties as an indication of their lack of grass-root presence.

Addressing news men at the RSIEC office in Portharcourt, the Chairman of the commission Prof. Augustine Ahiauzu stated that 22 of the local governments where won by the APC. Although this proclamation is yet to be disputed by the opposition amidst the growing popularity of the APC at the grass root level.
The Chairman of RSIEC declared that the APC won in Omuma LGA with 16,425 votes out of a total of 18,442 votes cast. In Abua LGA where a total of 41,198 votes were cast the APC swept it with 41,070 votes. The story was not different in Ikwerre LGA where the incumbent governor of the state Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi hails from, with 18,686 votes from 19,854 votes cast in total.
The Chairman congratulated the Rivers people for the mass turnout despite the heavy downpour during the early hours of the day. He also appreciated the people for the peaceful conduct of the elections. He charged them to quickly swing into action by inaugurating their council because local government is all about deepening democracy at the grass root level.
All the elected Chairmen and their Vice were all given their certificates of office as the chairman charged them to discharge their duties with the fear of God and diligence in other to deliver the dividends of democracy to their various constituencies. The first and only female elected chairman expressed joy and satisfaction with the process that brought her in and promise not to let her people down.
Prof. Ahiauzu also confirmed that 27 political parties participated in the elections and the APC won in all the LGA,s except for Onelga. The APC also won in 297 out of 322 wards in River, while the remaining wards were won by other parties.
He believed that with this election peacefully and freely conducted that the state is ready to move on especially after the national elections. He also thanked the security agencies who were on duty before, during and after the elections.
