Fayemi Explains Why He ‘Bought Two Beds For N50m’

No comments :

Immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Kayode John Fayemi has explained why he built the multi-million naira controversial Government House in the state.

The governor has been under attack lately for lavishing the state funds on the government lodge.
His predecessor, Ayo Fayose had claimed that the governor bought two beds for N50 million naira.

However, embattled Fayemi in a publication that showcased his achievements in Ekiti, explained why he embarked on the project.

He declared that ''The administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti State places much premium on infrastructure which it believes is a catalyst for modernizing the state.

"Infrastructural development is the second policy thrust of the 8-point agenda of the Fayemi administration otherwise known as the 'Roadmap to Ekiti Recovery'".
The publication reads thus: ''Desirous of being remembered for good by citizens of the State, the Fayemi administration conceived what it called 'Legacy Projects', bequeathed to the generations yet unborn.

''In conceiving the projects, the administration took cognizance of the need to execute projects that accord with the needs of the government and people of Ekiti and critically also, positively project the Land of Honour in the comity of states in Nigeria.

''Not ready to be encumbered by the meagre allocations from the Federation Account, as the state is 35th out of 36th on the nation's revenue ladder, the administration secured a N25 billion bond from the Capital Market.
''Upon accessing the first tranche of N20 billion, the administration immediately embarked on the mission to change the face of the state with the Legacy Projects which the new Government House is one of them."

According to Fayemi, ''Ekiti State has lived with the challenge of having a befitting Government House since the state was created on October 1, 1996. The first Military Administrator, as he was designated, Col. Inua Bawa (rtd), was holed-up in a borrowed apartment before building an official residence with bricks sourced from Ire-Ekiti Burnt Bricks Factory.

''Successive administrations since then made do with some buildings in the Government House complex, including the present abode of the state's number one citizen known as the Osuntokun Lodge. The fact that the Lodge lacked many facilities befitting of the residence of a governor and therefore "very inferior" to other Government Houses in the country, made the need for a new Government House in Ekiti very imperative.

''This inadequacy came even more to the fore at the death of the former Deputy Governor, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka, with guests pouring in from all over the country to commiserate with the government and people of the state on the monumental loss. To add to the state's sorrow, the governor could not receive two sets of guests at the same time.

''But that rather embarrassing experience has become history with the construction of the new Government House situated on the Ayoba Hills in Ado-Ekiti, the new edifice, like the biblical 'House on a Hill' can be seen from all parts of the city.

''While dismissing the claims of the opposition that the project is self-serving, Fayemi argued that the new Government House belongs to the people of Ekiti and not his personal property.

''He added that it would continue to serve as the official residence of all coming governors, long after he would have left office. The new Government House, will go down as an important statement of the New Ekiti that the Fayemi administration has always thought possible: It is an Ekiti State that plays second fiddle to none".

No comments :

The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Adeniji Adele, Lagos, has arrested a pastor, Peter Iyasele, and two others for allegedly hijacking a truck with N25m worth of goods in the Ijora area of Lagos.

PUNCH Metro learnt that while the two other suspects ─ Anthony Ibiade and Amas Debar ─ were arrested in Ijora, the 56-year-old clergy was arrested in Igando, Lagos.

Our correspondent gathered from the police that the hijacked truck, which contained 25 heavy duty outdoor airconditioners, belonging to a company based in Apapa, Lagos.

According to the police, the market value of the heavy duty air conditioners is about N25m.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspects were arrested after information got to DCP Chris Ejike. He subsequently directed his men to trail the suspects who were on the move to sell the products.

Our correspondent learnt that after the truck, which was initially heading for Ikeja, was hijacked by the suspects, the airconditioners were taken to a warehouse in Ibadan, Oyo State.

However, after the police swooped on the suspects, 22 units of the products were recovered, while one had been vandalised. The remaining two were said to have been sold.

It was gathered that two members of the syndicate ─ Oliver and another whose name had yet to be known ─ were still at large and were believed to have sold the two air conditioners.

The police said the suspects were experts in hijacking and diverting trucks containing electronic appliances and other household items.

In his statement to the police, the pastor said he was working as a transporter before he took to hijacking trucks. He added that the new job was to "source for funds to sustain my church."

Iyasele, an indigene of Edo State, said in his statement that he heard a call from God, but there was no money to pursue it. Hence, he had to source for funds to be able "to survive in the ministry".

PUNCH Metro gathered that 38-year-old Debar and Ibiade, 53, were the first to be arrested by the police before they led detectives to the pastor.

Our correspondent learnt that Iyasele's church is situated along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Ibiade, in his own statement, confessed to the police that he was the one who arranged for the driver who took the hijacked truck from Lagos to the warehouse in Ibadan.

A source at the Federal SARS told PUNCH Metro that the suspects, who were apprehended on Wednesday, September 10, had been charged to court.

No comments :

A Nigerian man, Dominic Adesanya, was apprehended by Secret Service agents and dogs after jumping the White House fence.

The 23-year-oldAdesanya around 7.15pm yesterday, on October 22nd, scaled the fence on the North Lawn of the building and walked about 20 yards past the fence before he was caught by Secret Service and dogs.
Adesanya was unarmed at the time of the accident but the White House was placed under a 90-minute lockdown as a safety measure.

Video of the episode taken by TV news cameras shows a man in white shorts just inside the White House fence on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The recording shows the man lifting his shirt as if to show agents that he has no arms. The man is then seen kicking and then evidently punching at least one Secret Service dog that was released on him before he is surrounded by agents.
President of the United States Barack Obama was thought to be in the White House at the time of the incident.

According to his Adesanya Facebook profile, he studied at Stevenson University for business administration and management and at Hartford Community College for an associate of science.

It appears that the boy is not a fan of Obama. His last Instagram post on Tuesday reportedly revealed an "I Voted sticker" captioned 'Voted for this B #ImpeachObama.'

Gambian Arrested For Having 4 Wives, 7 Fancées and 5 Girlfriends

No comments :

A suspicious pregnant wife found a picture of a happy couple where the husband looked oddly like her own on Facebook – and slowly realized that not only was he married to the other woman, he was being unfaithful with 16 other women simultaneously.

Amazingly, all of Sonko TIjan's four wives, seven fiancées and five girlfriends believed they were in exclusive relationships with the tireless Gambian charmer, who milked all his women for loans.

Austrian police say Tijan beat all records for bigamy and infidelity in the country – with lovers spanning ages from 22 to 44.

Austrian woman Sonja Maier found an image of Tijan with another woman, with the same surname, when she was pregnant with his child after a whirlwind romance.

Maier said, 'I thought that either he had a twin I never knew about or he was cheating on me.'

The two women exchanged notes behind his back, and his web of lies began to unravel.

Tijan also had a wife and family in his home country.

Police believe he may have had relationships with even more women and are appealing for others to come forward.

Detective Patrick Maierhofer: 'He always used the same tactics.

'He would look at women in bars and was always charming and attentive.
'He would also fascinate them with fanciful stories about his homeland in Africa and how he had fled horrific wars leaving his family behind – and later he would ask for financial assistance for them.'
