She was startled to see me coming from their front door at first, then she recognized me and smiled. I smiled back at her and asked about her madam.
"ah…! Madam travelled to Abuja yesterday oh." She replied. "She will be there for another two weeks."
"ehen…. Hope no problem sha?" I asked.
"I think she went for some business." She told me.
I still wasn't satisfied but I didn't want to probe further lest I raise any suspicions.
"I hardly see u around," the house girl said. "How are you coping?" she asked. "Do you cook for yourself or you eat out?"
"I cook if I'm chanced," I replied
"Ok oh," she said turning her back to me and walking away, "let me know if you need anything."
"No wahala," I replied walking towards my apartment.
"As madam no dey, I fit give you some service, Abi?" she shot back
I froze as the several possible meanings in what she had just said sank in but I just said, "no problem, don't stress yourself on my account."
When I got back to my room I decided to take my clothe s to a drycleaner. As i was sorting out my suits and emptying the pockets, a note fell out. I picked it up and saw that it was a phone number. Suddenly, I remembered that Bimbo had slipped something into my pocket after our short wild Bleep. I decided there was no harm in calling her.
I was engrossed doing a few things that I put of calling bimbo until much later in the evening. It was around 7pm when I picked up my fone to call her. It rang thrice before she picked it up.
'hello, sweet girl' I cooed, 'how is it going'
But it was a man's voice that replied, 'who is this?'
I was taken aback but quickly composed myself and asked, 'who am I speaking with please? I'd like to speak with bola please'
'I am mr. bugun,' he replied. 'you want to speak with bola or bimbo?' he asked
'Bola! I want to speak with bola,' I stonewalled.
'sorry, wrong number,' he said and abruptly cut the connection.
'Wheeew!!' I whistled with relief. I didn't know what just happened but I knew I had just dodged a bullet. Who was that?! Her husband or boyfriend, or neighbor? He had sounded dark and threatening like a man who suspects his partner of doing some cheating. All the same, relief or not I felt really disappointed. I already had a halfway Attention just from the thought of hooking up with Bimbo again and now I couldn't for the life of me imagine how I was going to get some action this weekend. There was just no way I was going to call that number again. I wasn't about to get killed over a woman. There was no power and It was getting hot inside the room so I went outside to put on my small generator. Not long after I came in, I heard a knock on my window. I pulled back the blinds and looked out to see Madam Janet's house girl.
'Hello,' I said. 'Is there any problem?'
'Noo..No problem sir,' she replied. 'I wanted to know if you've eaten.'
'I told not to worry about me,' I said. 'I haven't eaten but I will take something soon.'
'I make too much food and I don't want to throw it away,' she said, looking at me expectantly.
'Ok, give me some,' I said after a few seconds. 'but next time don't bother about me oh.'
'let me go and serve it,' she replied and left.
After about 25 mins there was a knock on the door. 'come in,' I said.
She carried the food in on a tray and stood by the door waiting. I had not yet furnished my living room so I did everything in my bedroom. I saw her hesitating so I called her to bring it to the bedroom. I was sitting on the bed when she came in. She had a wrapper tied around her waist and was wearing a tight t-shirt that was too short to cover her belly button. I also was uncomfortably aware of the Tips on her medium perky bosoms straining against the shirt and realized she had no bra on. I quickly asked her to get a small plastic stool from the corner a place the tray on it.

Man beats wife to death in Lagos, family seeks justice

No comments :

The family of a woman allegedly beaten to death by her husband, has called on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti to intervene in the case so that justice can be served.

The deceased Obiageli Anajekwu, 37, died two days after she was severely beaten by her husband, Anajekwu, Sun reports.

This is Obiageli's story:

Obiageli got married to Anajekwu (traditional marriage) in 2002. After their marriage, Anajekwu's business encountered hard times, and he decided to return to Brazil where he had been previously based, and promised to return in 2003, by which time it was hoped that the business would have improved.

However, Anajekwu did not return till 2011, and on his way back to the country through Cameroon, he was arrested and jailed for 3 years for suspected drug offenses.

While he was in jail, Obiageli would visit him often and take care of all his needs. She reportedly spent her life savings of over N850,000 taking care of him while he was incarcerated.

In 2013, he finally returned home.

Things seemed to be going smoothly until one day in December 2014 when he beat Obiageli because he found a charm in her bag. He  threatened to end the marriage.

Anajekwu's father subsequently revealed that he was the one who gave Obiageli the charm for protection purposes. According to the father, Obiageli had suddenly developed swollen legs, and a traditional healer had revealed that she had developed the condition because some evil members of the family were trying to attack her as well as himself.

After hearing his father's testimony, Anajekwu still insisted that he wanted to send Obiageli away, and so they struck a deal: Anajekwu would set up a supermarket for Obiageli and refund her the money she spent taking care of him while in prison. It was, however, also agreed that his wife would remain with him until he fulfilled all the aspects of agreements which he said he would do after selling his house.

However, on January 19 2015, Anajekwu beat up his wife and summoned a friend of his to assist with the beating. Afterwards, he threw her out of the house at 1 a.m, leaving her with severe injuries.

She ran to a friend's house and the friend advised her to report the matter to the police. However, the police did not intervene until she died two days later. Afterwards, the police arrested Anajekwu but released him almost immediately.

"Our pain is that police investigation had been very slow and tardy, making us to suspect that we may not get justice.   The police have been demanding  various sums of money from us  for embalmment and autopsy which we have paid, but they have bluntly refused to  charge the matter to court.

"We hereby appeal to CP Aderanti to wade into the matter so that the law will take its cause.  We demand for justice so that our sister's soul will rest in peace," the family wrote in the petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police .

Actress turned Politician, Funke Adesiyan has explained why she joined the widely-talked about protest in Lagos on Monday led by the Odua People's Congress (OPC).

Adesiyan is contesting for the Oyo State House of Assembly to represent Ibadan South East Constituency II on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)

In a statement obtained by EE, the well-endowed actress unequivocally stated, "I was part of the walk by Coalition of Concerned Nigerians (NCC) led by Otunba Gani Adams. It is not politically motivated and not sponsored by anybody.
She added, "We are only asking for an explanation on the allegation against Prof Jega that underage youths were registered to vote in the north. We say NO to postponement of elections because of shortage in PVC collection. We say NO to creation of 30000 illegal polling unit in the North. We ask for equity in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. We are one great nation and we don't need Prof. Jega to divide it for us.
"On this premise, we call on Jega to go on his break due on the 24th of March,2015 and allow another credible officer from INEC conduct this election.
"We broke nothing neither did we touched or maimed no one. It was the most peaceful rally I've witnessed in recent times. No one sponsored it. All of us that got involved did it voluntarily based on our passion for equity, justice and unity of Nigeria. It's unfair that APC is trying to frame us. Nigerians know propaganda is APC style and we shall not loose focus on achieving our aim peacefully," Adesiyan added.

In the letter signed by the President NiMSA, Seriki Muritala and the Secretary-General, Chilaka Franklin, the Medical Students body request that the growing concern over the healthcare system in Lagos State be addressed.

The current industrial action going on in the state is a reaction to the "government refusing to pay salaries owed to Doctors. The Salaries covering the periods of May 2012, as well as August and September, 2014 when the Doctors engaged in a strike action to address the issues of relativity and appointments in  the health system."

Police Torture Leaves 22 Year Hotel Staff Dead, Youths Stages Protest...

Over 100 angry youths stormed the premises of Protea Hotel in Benin, Edo State, to protest against the killing of a 22-year-old man, Chibuike Edeh, a housekeeping employee of the hotel.

Chibuike was said to have been killed by policemen via torture while trying to get him to confess to the crime of stealing N42,000 from a hotel guest room. His family, who had been sent off to get a 27, 000 Naira bail fee, came back to meet him dead.

According to Punch, the protesters, who were dressed in black, with placards and photos of the slain man, barricaded the entrance to the hotel and prevented its staff and customers from either gaining access or leaving the premises.

Their grouse is that the deceased died an unjust death as they claim he didn't commit the crime.

According to the family, the deceased could not be found at the hotel or the police station shortly after they arrived from getting the funds for bail. The family was shocked when it discovered the man's corpse at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Ugbowo.
Speaking for the family, the brother said, "We were on this (hotel) premises when a man called that we should meet him at UBTH. When we got there, we were shocked to discover that my brother was dead.

The policemen and the CSO of this hotel killed my brother. My brother has been working for close to three years and the so called CSO claimed that he (deceased) was not capable of stealing. We are appealing to the state government to help us in this matter."
The mother of the victim, Christiana, said her son had earlier expressed fear when she visited him at the police station.

However, the Edo State Police Command denied that they were involved in the youth's death. They revealed that he died as a result of injuries sustained after he was knocked down by Toyota Camry, while trying to escape.

They also said that the young lad had confessed to the crime, saying the crime was caught on the hotel's camera.‎
According to him, "A case of stealing was reported by the management of the Protea Hotel, where the deceased was working, and he was arrested by Adesuwa Police Station. While there, he made a confessional statement, admitting stealing the money. The theft was even captured by Protea's CCTV camera.

He also told the police that the money was still intact. The IPO and the CSO of the Protea Hotel went with him to recover the money and on getting to the hotel, he took to his heels.

In the process, he was knocked down by a Toyota Camry, and as I am talking to you, the car and the driver who knocked him down are with the police."
On how the corpse of the deceased was found at UBTH, he said, "The investigation will prove other things that may arise. Investigation is not done on the pages of newspapers or on the television.

The body of a female worker with Silverbird Cinemas, Aishat Noble-Mustapha, has been recovered at her house in Ogudu GRA, Lagos State.

It was learnt that the 26-year-old lady was formerly in the communications department of the company's branch on the Victoria Island before she was recently posted to the box office section in the Ikeja Mall.

The Kogi State indigene had reportedly closed from work on Saturday, March 14, around 7.30pm, and got home, when she was murdered.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, said she was stabbed about 11 times in the stomach.‎
He said, "She works with the Silverbird Cinemas in Ikeja. She was even at work throughout last week.
"She closed from work on Saturday and when she got home, we learnt she was stabbed in the stomach 11 times by a lover, who she had a disagreement with.
"We don't know the motive for the crime, but we learnt it was a man she knew that killed her."

Another source told our correspondent that the corpse of Noble-Mustapha was taken to a mortuary in Yaba by policemen from the Ogudu Police Division.

When contacted, a worker at the customers service of Silverbird Cinemas, Ikeja, confirmed that the lady was his colleague.
He said, "Yes, she was working here. We discovered that she didn't come to work the day after the incident and when we made enquiries, we were told she was killed at her home.
"She had just alighted from her car and opened the gate to her house when she was killed."

The Silverbird Television, in a report on Tuesday, said she struggled with her assailant.

The report, which also featured statements from co-workers, said Noble-Mustapha was a well loved worker, who gave her best to the company.

It said, "She fought bravely to stay alive from what is left from the pool of blood (at the entrance into the house) and the gutter in which she fell as she struggled.
"Her flat was under lock and key while her car was parked on the permises."

It was said that the victim's parents were not based in Lagos and she had stayed with a guardian before moving to Ogudu.

Noble-Mustapha's guardian, Abubakar Haruna, told Silverbird TV, the family wanted justice.
He said, "Aishat's death is very painful and very unfortunate. It is one of the most painful news I have ever received.
"We want the law enforcement agents to help us unravel the mystery surrounding this cold-blooded death of my wife's niece."

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State command, Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the incident.

He said, "The suspect has been arrested. The case file and the suspect are going to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.

Lekki Robbery! Governor Fashola Claims 2,123 Policemen Went To Secure The President

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
THE Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, on Tuesday said 2, 123 policemen that would have helped to repel the Thursday bank robbery in the state were sent to protect President Goodluck Jonathan when he visited Lagos.
Fashola, who said this at the 2015 Agric Value Chains Empowerment programme, lamented that the President's visit to the state paralysed the state security apparatus so much that it could not foil the robbery.
He said nearly all the vehicles bought by the state government for the police to be able to respond rapidly to crimes were on the alert for the President.
Fashola said, "The President came to Lagos last Thursday, and while citizens were being robbed, the President was protected by 2,123 security personnel.
"Let me be very clear, the President is entitled to every protection; he is our President, but the question to ask is; when you were being traumatised, where were these 2,123 men, because you are also entitled to be protected? The reason why the President gets all that protection is so that he can protect all of us."

Fashola said he was also worried by the reports of violence and harassment of innocent citizens on Monday during a protest by members of the Oodua People's Congress and loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party.
"Yesterday (Monday), they also showed the difference between us when the supporters of the PDP and President Jonathan came out. On March 7, just about a week ago, the APC held a solidarity walk in Lagos. Did anybody attack you on that day?
"So, yesterday, they held their own, and instead of canvassing for your votes, they were showing you knives and cutlasses."

Child Bride Murderer! Defence Counsel Wants 14Year Old Accused Of Killing Her Husband Discharged

No comments :

Add BBN on 2BAFB965
A defence lawyer on Monday called for the dismissal of murder charges against a 14-year-old girl accused of killing her 35-year-old husband with rat poison in the country's deeply conservative north.‎
"We urge your lordship to discharge and acquit the accused," lawyer Hussaina Aliyu said at the High Court in Gezawa, a small town outside the state capital Kano.

Prosecutors say Wasila Tasi'u, who comes from a poor and deeply conservative Muslim family, poisoned the food served at a party last year after marrying Umar Sani in Kano state, in a case that has thrown a spotlight on child marriage.

Aliyu said the prosecution has failed to establish a link between the cause of Sani's death and Tasi'u's intent to kill the man, who was in his mid-thirties.
The lawyer also questioned the admissibility of a key witness of the prosecution — a seven-year-old girl identified as Hamziyya — who was living in Sani's house when he died.

Hamziyya is the sister of Tasi'u's "co-wife", referring to a woman that the deceased farmer had married previously in a region where polygamy is widespread.

The young girl testified that Tasi'u gave her money to buy rat poison from a local shop, but the defence claimed the state had breached the law by calling a seven-year-old witness.

Prosecutors seeking the death penalty say they have provided sufficient evidence to support their case.

The court is expected to decide whether it will dismiss the charge by March 31.

Appearing in court wearing a full face veil or niqab for the first time, Tasi'u said nothing throughout Monday's short hearing, which was attended by a handful of reporters.

Both Sani's family and Tasi'u's own parents have denied she was forced into marriage, claiming instead that 14 is a standard marrying age in northern Nigeria and that she chose Sani from a range of suitors.

Rights activists, including in Nigeria's mostly Christian south, have condemned the prosecution, arguing that Tasi'u should be treated as a victim entitled to treatment.

Legal opinion on whether Tasi'u can be tried for murder as an adult is also divided, but a previous defence motion calling for her case to be referred to a juvenile court was rejected.

According to Human Rights Watch, Nigeria is not known to have executed a juvenile offender since 1997, when the country was ruled by military dictator Sani Abacha.
