Senator Adamu Gumba has warned the Nigeria Football Federation against any hasty decisions to 'sack' out-of-contract Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
The senator also warned against any hasty decisions to disband the Super Eagles, as calls continue to mount for an overhaul of the entire Super Eagles team.
Speaking in an interview with Cool FM, chairman of the senate committee on sports, Senator Adamu Gumba also urged Nigerians to always exercise some level of patients before asking for the team to be overhauled.
"I always say that Nigerians are impatient because when something happens, you look at it carefully and find out why it happened the way it did before you begin to chart a new course," Gumba said.
"We lost and some people are already concluding that the team is bad and the coach is bad and we should do something.
But I think that is not good. We have lost, and we should be allowed to go down, sleep well, think about it before beginning to propose the next line of action for the Nigerian Super Eagles."
Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations after finishing third in Group A behind Congo and South Africa and this has led to calls for the team to be disbanded or overhauled, and for Stephen Keshi to be 'sacked' as coach of the team.‎
