Following the 7-hour meeting of the Council of State, the outcome is that the electoral body, INEC, will go ahead with conducting the presidential, National Assembly, and governorship elections this February.

Also confirming this on Twitter, the APC National Woman Leader, Sharon Ikeazor tweeted that "No postponement. Elections will go ahead".

According to the Council of State: "INEC and security agencies should continue consultation and assess the situation in the coming days. We don't have power under the constitution to call for the postponement of election or to advise INEC to shift the polls."‎
