Breaking! Ondo Deputy Gov Impeached

The Ondo State deputy governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi, was this morning impeached by members of the state House of Assembly.‎
Mr Olatunji Stanley Adeniyan, Chairman of the seven man panel constituted by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi found Olanusi guilty on most of the allegations of misconduct levelled against him.
Following the directive of the Ondo State House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Olasehinde Kumuyi had last week set up a panel to look into the allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the deputy governor, Alhaji Alli Olanusi.
The seven-man panel, with Mr Olatunji Stanley Adeniyan as Chairman, was inaugurated in Akure, the state capital on Thursday and completed the assignment on Friday.
The Chief Judge, Justice Kumuyi, had in a letter dated 23rd of April 2015 said: " in line with the provision of section 188(5) of the Constitution of Federal Republic Of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I have set up a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations against the Deputy Governor as required by the Constitution."
Other members of the panel include Mr Aladesanmi Akingbade, Barr. Ademola Ekundayo, Ven. Richard Obafemi, Mr Abraham Kola Mathew, Alhaji Ibrahim Shodeinde and Mrs Eunice Yinka Obadele.

The House had on Wednesday, directed the State Chief Judge, to set up a seven-man panel to look into the allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the deputy governor following the impeachment notice served on him earlier in the week.
The lawmakers hinged their decision to impeach the deputy governor over allegations of gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, absenteeism from official duties and allegedly causing political disaffection in the cabinet of the state government .
The impeachment was notice signed by 20 of the 25 lawmakers and was announced by the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele after the Clerk of the House read seven allegations against the deputy governor.
