In what seems like taking the bull by the horns, a social crusade group, Ikorodu Ambassadors, is calling residents of Ikorodu Division to join in an appeal trek to the Governor's office in Alausa scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2015.
"Kick off time would be 7am, any interested persons that is ready psychologically and physically can join us in the trek but if you cannot trek, you can bid us farewell as we move or wait for us at the main gate of Alausa Secretariat," the group wrote in a statement made available to BlackBox Nigeria.
BBN gathered that the march is set to protest a claim that Ikorodu Division was poorly represented in the outgoing cabinet in Lagos State. The group said rather than protest, it is appealing to the leadership of the governing party, All Progressives Congress(APC) to consider Ikorodu for principal positions like Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Board of Directors, Special Advisers amongst others.
According to the Coordinator of the group, Rasheed Fatuga," People of Ikorodu Division have supported and voted massively for the APC in the last General Elections and they deserve a better treatment. This is not a Protest but an appeal, and our appeal goes to the Lagos State Government, the APC Leaders in Ikorodu Division and in Lagos State," he stated.
However, a Chieftain of People's Democratic Party (PDP), who preferred to be anonymous told BBN that it is a complete waste of effort and energy by the group.
"If truly APC is a listening party and believes in merit, should a community that voted for the party be begging for positions again? It is just a misplaced priority. Ikorodu people do not beg for positions, what the youths are doing is not Ikorodu-like. We are Ogas we do not beg for cheap positions," he said.
