The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja goes agog today as the Kano State Governor, Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso, declares for President under the flagship of the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

The declaration would take place at the Old Parade Ground in Garki District of Abuja, Nigeria.
Six days ago, Kwankwaso accused the federal government of deliberately blocking him from using public places particularly the famous Eagles Square, to declare his presidential aspiration. A move he  described as irritating and undemocratic.

Kwankwaso's declaration today brings the number of identified presidential aspirants under APC to 3, following former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, declarations earlier this month and September 24, respectively.

Kwankwaso was a former member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, until last November when he and four other governors defected to APC.

He will be leaving office as Governor of Kano State in May 2015. He won the sit under PDP.
Kwankwaso before his current public engagement was Governor of Kano between 1999 and 2003 and also served as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives in the botched Third Republic. After leaving office in 2003, he was appointed defence minister by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
