Following a previous unsuccessful attempt to contest for Governor, The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Silverbird Group, Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, on Monday declared his intention to represent Bayelsa East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

With his declaration, Murray-Bruce has the likes of Senator Barigha Amange and Clever Ikisipo to contend with for the senatorial seat.

Murray-Bruce is from Akassa- speaking group of Brass Local Government where the seat has been zoned. While declaring his intentions, he lamented that the widespread of poverty and lack of education and his love for his people made he conclude on contesting for the post.

Ben Murray-Bruce is a successful media entrepreneur who started the widely acclaimed Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria, Nigeria's most successful beauty pageant in the 80s. His conglomerate also include Silverbird Television and Rhythm Fm which both have several broadcast platforms across the country.

Mr. Murray-Bruce had earlier sought to govern the state during the last gubernatorial elections but was denied a ticket by his party, the Peoples Democratic Party which fielded the eventual winner and incumbent Seriake Dickson.
