The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kano, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has emerged winner of the governorship election in the state garnering 1,546,434 votes to beat the Peoples Democratic Party's candidate, Malam  Salihu Takai, who polled 509,726 votes.
In the State Assembly poll, the APC won all the 44 available seats in the Assembly, leaving the PDP with no seat.
INEC Collation officer, Prof. Mohammed Hamisu, declared Ganduje  winner of the governorship election.

65 year old Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a teacher by training was elected alongside his principal, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in 1999 but they lost their re-election bid in 2003 only to re-emerge together in 2011. When Kwankwaso was named Minister of Defence in 2003, Ganduje again served as his Special Adviser on Political Matters.
They can simply described as a formidable duo.‎ Apparently Ganduje's loyalty to his boss has paid off!
