Sunshine Stars Of Akure is Man city of Nigerian League while Kano Pillars Fc embrace Arsenal's Football philosophy...for those people who understands.

Despite the fact that Majority of Nigerian Professional league Football clubs fail to pay players the 100,000 minimum wage pegged by the League Management Committee(LMC), one club stands tall amongst the others raising its wage bill to an astonishing 23.6 million naira per month.
Sunshine is regarded as the biggest spenders in Nigeria club circles yet they have not been getting results

Unlike Arsenal, Kano Pillars gets great results despite "slave pay" to players

BlackBox Nigeria explores the contrasting Fortunes of the Man city of Nigeria, oil rich Sunshine stars of Akure and back to back winners and present leaders of the Nigeria professional Football League(NPFL) Kano pillars fc.

Since the inauguration of the League Management Company (LMC), the welfare of players plying their trade in the Nigeria Professional League has been its topmost priority and had on several occasions threatened the clamp down of Clubs who owe players or pay their players "starvation" wages as the Marxist would call it.
Governor Mimiko ensures that Sunshine Stars's Players gets paid than all their colleagues in other clubs

However, majority of clubs have failed to comply with the N100,000 minimum wage that the League Management board made a law and the uninspiring N10Million prize money for the eventual winners of the league title can simply be alluded to be the reason clubs fail to spend big on players.

Just last week Legendary Captain of Sharks Fc of Part-harcourt Odinga Odinga threatened that the players will go on strike if the deputy Governor of Rivers state, Engr. Tele Ikuru did not make good his promise to pay players their salary and would forfeit the next league game.

Amidst all this hullabaloo, Players of State owned Sunshine Stars Fc of Akure smile all the way to the bank as the "Shiek Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan" of Nigeria league; Governor Olusegun Mimiko pays his players a mouthwatering 23.6 million Naira per month, it is on record that Sunshine Stars Of Akure paid former captain and Super eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona N650,000($4,000) before he left the club to join Turkish club Rizespor last season.
LMC insists players must be paid a minimum of N100,000 monthly

Report has it that the player that collects the least salary at the Akure based club take home about N250,00 monthly, after their impressive back to back CAF Champions League semi-final feat in 2011 and 2012. The "Agagu boys" have not given the Club chairman and the club hierarchy a million reason to smile despite take home millions per month.

The Akure club failed to challenge for the league title last season and find themselves in an embarrassing 14th place on the log in the on-going 2013/14 Nigeria Professional Football league season with just 49 point from 36 League games played. Series of Lackluster performance have been recorded from the boys and after falling to impress the 15,000 Capacity Akure Township Stadium's religious supporters, the board took a drastic measure and Slashed the players salary by half and the rest will be paid as win bonuses.

Unlike Arsenal Fc of England, Kano Pillars Fc have somehow been able to win trophies despite paying its players "peanuts" and back to back Nigeria Professional Football league titles is a testimony to that assertion not forgetting the fact that Kano Pillars are on course to winning their third consecutive league title having amassed 62 points from 36 League game with two matches before the curtain closes in the league.

It is however amazing to discover that Kano pillars Fc's wage bill is as low as 2.6 million Naira per month, it is also surprising to discover that key players such as one-cap super eagles striker; Muhammad Gambo, South Africa 2014 CHAN stand-out performer; Rabiu Ali and even influential team captain Theophilius Afelokhai who are the highest earners at the Clubs have a Monthly package of less than the N100,000 minimum wage as pegged down by the LMC and this is so pathetic.

Manchester City Fc have given Shiek Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan a billion reasons to smile having invested billions in the club winning two league titles in three years but reverse is the case for Sunshine stars of Akure where the millions of Naira being shared amongs the players has not translated to a million reason to smile for fans of the Akure based outfit.

Meanwhile, while Arsenal Fc Continue to chase its first league title after the last triumph over a decade ago, Kano pillars fc that shares its Football Philosophy of "we've got the money but thanks we won't spend it" has been doing wonders with players who are paid "starvation wages" winning the NPFL title since the 2011/12 seasons and currently lead the race for its third Consecutive NPFL title.

Sport lovers and Religious Follower of the NPFL will firstly want the LMC to increase the Prize money for the Champions of the League from the embarrassing 10 million Naira and in turn will want Clubs in the Nigeria Professional League to pay more attention to Players welfare in order to retain our to stars in our League.
