Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zaria area of Kaduna state engaged in a physical combat on Monday, following a heated argument in the course of a meeting session .

Nigerian Tribune reports that the feud and rancor within the party leadership in Zaria and Sabongari local government areas of the state prevented Malam Nasir El-Rufai from holding a jaw jaw with the party executives in the two local government areas.

Malam El-Rufai, who is aspiring to be the next governor of the state under the APC Platform was supposed to have a meeting with some party chieftains from Zaria and Sabongari at the Kongo Conference Hotel and Teejay Palace Hotel.

"The meetings ended up unceremoniously due to interruption of party loyalists as a result of leadership crisis at both wards and local government levels. At the Kongo Conference Hotel, glasses of the sliding doors were broken by members who chanted offensive slogans. Also at Teejay Palace, there was a physical combat among party stalwarts who protested the presence of one of the party executive members in the meeting," a source said.

The gubernatorial aspirant was forced to address the executive members in a very rowdy session

In his words, He told them the national leadership of APC would look into the leadership crisis in Zaria and promised the people that if he emerged as the governor of the state, he would be just to all.

The former FCT minister recently declared his intention to run for the post of the governor of Kaduna state under APC platform and he confirms the reason for contesting is borne out of the need to save his state which according to him is very dear to him.
